Getting my content away from the C: drive...
you need to change the default library path from daz central.. I don't use it but the FAQ in https://www.daz3d.com/dazcentral say:
How do I change my installation paths in DazCentral?
Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and you will be able to change your installation path under Base Path Location
Getting my content away from the C: drive...I had a complete train wreck crash in windows 10, and need to reinstall everythinf.
I want to be sure that my Daz content is NOT on the C: drive, which is a small but fast SSD.
I installed the main program to a different drive, but I did not spot the option to set the content drive when Daz Studio was installed by Daz Central. I found the content directory manager, but I don't understand how to direct everything to a bigger drive. Can someone point me at a more detailed explanation please?
Disable Postgre database? How do I totally diable DS from looking for the database?
It is just an annoyance while booting that I would prefer to avoid. ( this is not critical as it does not impede anything...just like to let DS boot without having to wait for then dismiss that missing DB errror )
I cannot use it anyway in my setup.
I have 4 machines on network one of which is a server for content for the other three. One machine is my production machine while two others serve as render engines. Using the database simply does not work for my multi PC environment with a central server that does NOT run DAZ only serves files.
@paul_ae567ab9 Forgive me if I have misunderstood what you are trying to do.
If I remember correctly while I was getting DS to run under Linux, the Postgres DB is literally just a plain vanilla Postgres DB. Did you try running it on your server, and having the production/render machines point to it? We always seem to configure the connection string as localhost or the same IP as the computer using it, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work with the IP of your server instead.
Download Errors?Something is broken on the Daz side. Purchase I made today won't download with DIM, Daz Central or Manual Download. Went back and tried a few past purchases and all of those files worked fine for Manual Download. Not file size related, tried some smaller files and larger files with no issue.
Trouble loading morphs on genesis 8 in Daz 4.12That prsumably means you installed manually? The folders from the Content folder in the zip are the ones that need to go into your Content Directory, not the Content older itself (it's there as a placeholder for the actual content directory). If you are using Windows you can just select everything from the Content folder and paste it into the Content Dierctrory (e.g. My Library or My daz 3D Library), or you can use Install Manager, Daz central, or Daz Studio itself to install.
Daz Studio and LinuxAnyone know how to remove symbolic links without removing the original file/directory? I installed DIM in a new wine prefix, but it links to my Documents folder (in Linux) and I don't want it to. I want this WINEPREFIX to have its own My Documents, Downloads, Pictures, etc, so I want to delete those links and make new folders before I start installing content.
I've searched for explanations, but they're all pretty much the same and they don't tell me exactly which command I should be using; rm, unlink or what?
Just remove the link. Delete in a File Manager or using rm in the terminal.
Careful you don't remove the target, just the link.
The wine prefix actually sets the link to /home/[username]/Documents (the target) in [WinePREFIX]/drive_c/users/[username]/'My Documents' (the link).
The Windows paradigm that results in 'My Documents' storing all user files is a little annoying right enough. (In Unix especially, historically,) everything is considered a file, but not all files are 'documents', is a litte annoying and messy.
You can delete the 'My Documents' link to $HOME/Documents without concern. Removing a link does not affect the target, one may have as many soft links to a target as one likes.
Then you can create a new folder in $HOME to house your content, and create a new link 'My Documents' in the prefix pointing to the new folder (>$ man ln at the cli will help - it's 'ln -s' you want for a Soft Link*). Then, as far as that prefix is concerned, wherever 'My Documents' points is your documents, and other prefixes, should you have any, will still point at $HOME/'Documents'. This is the best method, as far as Windows is concerned, nothing has changed from the default setup.
DIM stores the downloaded archives in drive_c/users/Public/Documents/'DAZ 3d'/'Install Manager'/Downloads - if you keep the archives and don't delete after install, you might want to link from 'DAZ 3D' to a central location if you are going to use DIM on more than one prefix or want a nice large drive to store the archives as backup.
You could use a file manager, but between Gnome, Dolphin, pcman-fm and others, they all deal with symlink creation a little differently, it's damn confusing.

Can't find my new iBL Master installationHi, I just purchased iBL Master and installed it through DAZ Central.
I can't find it in DAZ Studio!
The .pdf Manual says that the file should be located in "My Library / Props / Parris / IBL Master". There is no "Props" sub-directory under "My Library".
In DAZ Central, when I click on "Open" next to "iBL Master for Daz Studio" I am brought to my oppened window of DAZ Studio but that's it... no indication as to where iBL Master has been installed.
[Released] ManFriday's Mesh Grabber [Commercial]My copy of Mojave is OS 10.14.6. Should be okay.
Thank you. Time to pull the trigger.
Welp. I bought it. But there's no download. I refuse to use DAZ Central. I refuse to use DIM. Is there any way to arrange for a manual download?
You can use DIM once to download the ZIP without installing and then extract the .dylib file from that and put it into your Daz Studio's plugins folder.

Daz > Hex bridge !!!!!Just today I am trying to reinstall Daz Studio, content and Hex onto a newer/faster computer.
Everything works - except the transfer of objects between Daz and Hex.
As an example - I create a simple sphere, select the sphere and select send to Hexagon.
Hexagon opens up, but the object is not transfered over. Blank space! After which, trying to return to Daz the Studio program hangs and must be shut down via Windows Task Manager.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times - using Install Manager, Daz central and manual.
Setting are identical to the ones on my old system.
Any suggestions??
Any help appreciated because I use Hex everyday in my projects.
Thanks
AlanUltraScenery [Commercial]In Central Alberta, we get yellow grass in August, when it's mostly not raining and pushing +30; in October, when the highs are around +10 and the lows around -1 and the days are down to about 10 hours long; and in March-April, as the snow starts to melt. In August the leaves are green, in October they're gold and falling off, and March they haven't grown back yet. Which is a long way of saying that I too find bare trees and green grass weird, although that's changing as the climate warms up.
We don't generally get snow till late January, and if it last till tea time, that's exceptional: normally it's gone by lunch! Snow that lasts several days happens maybe once every 5+ years. Which is a roundabout way of saying I'll put bare & brown in future sets.
New Updates: the Daz to Blender Bridge 2.0!How do we get 2.0? The version Daz Central and DIM install is 1.9.5.
I have a similar problem, but I am getting version 1.9.9 in Daz Central, and no option to update. I reinstalled Blender 2.90.1 to see if I could get it, but no luck. I really don't want to have to totall reinstall Daz and my products. Any ideas? Thank you.
Correction to my last, Daz Central has version 1.9.5, while blender's Daz armature shows version 1.9.9. Still no sign of an update available through my Daz Central.
Annoying issue with DazCentralIn Central, there's a very annoying green dot with the number 3 in it next to dashboard. There's also a green dot next to Daz Studio under applications.
That's supposed to mean something is new.
Except the ONLY thing that's actually new are the annoying tutorials, which I do NOT want to watch just to make the annoying green dots go away.
Did I mention they were annoying?
Is there a way, anywhere in Central, to mark everything as 'read' 'seen' 'stop bothering me already' ?
UltraScenery [Commercial]In this part of the world (temperate maritime climate), grass only ever browns off in high summer. Rest of the year it's a good strong green. I've certainly never seen yellowed grass in winter... (well, leave a tarp on it for a week or two, maybe). So bare trees and green grass is spot on from my experience. Of course, other parts of the world may differ.

I finally finished this picture. Nothing fancy with the US, and it's from before I got much ofr add-ons, but man, is this product easy and fun straight out of the box!

Where is my purchase ?There was a hiccup in the store, and the download files were not copied to the download server. It's being fixed, and might actually be fixed by now.
Note for the next time this happens (and yes, there probably will be a next time, until the new store software is rolled out). If you ever see DAZ Central as the only available installation method, that does not mean you must use DAZ Central; it means there are no files to download by any method.
daz central installing daz requires signed EULATry going to https://www.daz3d.com/eula , scroll to the end, and check the acceptance box. Going from the link in DIM/Daz Central does seem to be problematic.
daz central installing daz requires signed EULAhi everyone. downloaded daz central, launch to install daz but it said i needed to sign the eula first. so i clicked on the link, it asked to sign in. i signed in, then find the eula page to sign, can't see how to sign it, it said i must sign in to sign it. i'm already signed in. round and round we go. anyone knows?
Sales thread: Report Issues Here. & "There's Always Another Sale™"West Park Ward Iray Add On isn't showing in DIM.
I've just noticed on the product page it's saying "daz central" only as the install type and there's no "install manager ready" files on my order page.
Just looked and it has now been fixed
