  • Built in Morph Mirror Tool DAZ 4.10?

    Hello,
Does DAZ 4.10 or any other older have a built in morph mirror capability?

I have created a morph using Dformer on a leg and simply want to mirror it onto the other leg.

I looked into Morph Loader Pro but it doesn't seem to make sense to export, morph, then import.

I would expect DAZ to have a mirror tool. Or do I need to look at Hexagon?

    Thanks!

  • How do you get Older hair to fit Genesis 1

RamWolf made a great tutorial for converting Generation 4 hair to Genesis     https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/1866/ramworks-tutorials-pp2-and-hr2-to-figure-painting-genesis-in-zbrush#latest

and you will find parenting NOT fitting  the wings to the chest of the figure works really well

    Thanks for the tutorial.

I'vebeen parenting them, but I just wanted to see if I could get them work. A modified version of Syrus_Dante's technique works very well for shoes. Export the shoes, fit them to the base genesis in Blender, replace geometry, Tweak it as needed in Blender to fit the current shape, convert to weight mapping then use the transfer tool. At least now I can use my shoes with genesis without them getting warped.

These are the shoes from Damaru Jigoku for Hiro hes wearing the rest of it too quite well. I just had to tweak some of the fit morph on the shirt. The character is a huge anime fan and that was the outfit I picked. I tired this technique out on the fae realm slippers and it worked out so great that I tried it again to make sure I knew how to do it. Just gotta remember to keep vertex order so Blender doesnt split it up.

  • The Girl 8

To me, she looks more like what Aiko 8 should have been because her face lacks the roundness the roundness her decessors had. Still, she's very cute but I'll have to pass since I already a cute toon girl character morph that works similarly in terms the face (D.Master's Candy for G8F). Girl 8 doesn't seem like she'd add a lot to my G8F gene pool or skin collection.

I may pick up that pirate outfit though.

  • Problem with Cain for G3M & G8M

I'm not sure if this is a personal problem or if anyone else might have noticed any issues after installing Cain. I will most likely be contacting CS but throwing this out there for anyone who has purchased this great looking character. After installing him this morning I immediately started noticing issues with some of my characters. After some investigating, I found that Cain appears to be loading into every G3M character, new character or saved character. Teeth are horribly distorted and the face/nose/chin looks flattened and eyes abnormally enlarged. When I loaded him, he looked fine. Another thing, I looked into the Current Morphs list and he doesn't show as loaded in. But I wasn't having any problems earlier this morning before I purchased him. I just uninstalled him and THANKFULLY the issue went away. I could return him and ask for store credit, but I really like how he looks.

Yes, there is a problem with this character affecting others. I was disappointed to find that my G8M Base character now loads with the Cain character morph which I have to now dial out before I can use it.

This character is just one morph rather than a separate head and body morph, also I'm disappointed with the textures ie the navel is just a grey smudge!

I like the character morph which has prevented me at the moment returning this product, (but that makes it an expensive character morph) and will be more wary in future. Why are these not tested by the PA and Daz before release?

I will now look to see how this is affecting my G3M characters as mentioned in your post.

  • GTX 1180 Preliminary Specs Update..

...still in the process of updating/upgrading.

Kind of delayed until I can get a good deal on a wired gigabit router to connect the two systems together so I first can transfer important files over to the second one before wiping the C drive to do a clean install W7Pro and my programmes on the rendering system.which is needed for the memory upgrade.  I'd rather do everything in one "tear down" than several ones.

After that, for rendering in Carrara I plan to use the resources of both machines.

  • Product compatibility

I've begun to dig into those links, and there's a lot to take in.

Still, that gives me a good starting place to understand why things are designed the way they are in Daz3d.

I guess if I had to have a shape from a non-compatable character, I could export them as a low-resolution obj and then import that as a new morph. I imagine a lot of difficulties could be cleaned up in that way.

Any other helpful advice or workarounds is appreciated!

  • Daz 4.10 freezes Win 10 when using Morph Sliders

Best you can do until DAZ Studio is made more efficient is to

    1) Task Manager -> Details -> DAZ Studio -> Right Clight -> Set Affinity -> and uncheck 2 or even 3 of your CPU cores being used.

    2) Go to DAZ Studio -> P references -> Display Properties -> Interface -> Display optimization -> Best

                                                                                                                          Hardware Anti-Aliasing - On

as it's unlikely you changed them it's probably not a big help to your problem

That would help reduce the load from multi-thread processes (such as rendering), but I don't think moprh loading is multi-threaded.

Using 388.13 Nvidia driver on Win 10 Pro, every 3d application and renderer I use is fine.  But man, every time I move a morph slider in Daz, the system will every 10 seconds or so freeze, then unfreeze, and this pattern repeats over and over, even after closing down Daz.  So I have to re-boot the whole system.  When I use Daz, I use the numeric type-in fields instead, and it works fine.  I can predictably repeat it too, sometimes ity happens right away, other times I was lucky and it worked fine and then later would get screwy.

One time it even froze where it went to Blue Screen 'Machine Check Exception'.

Also, I noticed if I have several apps open (ie Browser), and if I switch back and forth, Daz then will go into a freezing pattern, but it does not repeat like it does when I use the sliders.  Just weird all around.  But just with Daz 4.10, and it happened in the Public build of 4.10 as well I had when I was using Win 7 64.   It works all fine if I just type in the values and stay in the app.  Never happened in 4.9 series of Daz on my machine.

Anyoneone else ever experience stuff like this?

    -Regards

The first time (in a session) that you set a slider to a non-zero value the moprh deltas (the actual changes in position of the vertices) have to be loaded from disc. However, that will happen regardless of how the non-zero value is applied. I suppose it's possible that your security software is kicking in when the drive is accessed and that might be genrating soem kind of conflicting activity, I can't think of many other ways such a simple act could trigger a cascade ending in a blue-screen.

The morph loading itself wouldn't be multi-threaded but the redrawing of the viewport would be I think.

I just reset my 'Interface' in DS to defaults and restarted and that help a little bit, seems l choose one of the Interface values incorrectly. I only now only use 4 or 8 CPU cores for DS in my DS shortcut on my desktop, The hex code you need for that is hex F Use the windows command shell with this argument

    "EXAMPLE: windows commandshell.exe" /c start "DAZ Studio" /affinity F "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4 Public Build\DAZStudio.exe"

change the DS executable path to match yours though.

I like this pose and lighting a LOT better than the previous ones you did of this character, Diomede.  I wish the cigarette had some smoke to help identify it easier, and also with that the hat brim and glass were slightly more visible.

I also really liked the Pete Rose image.  Did you morph that yourself?

  • How do you get Older hair to fit Genesis 1

Hard to tell whats the issue with the wings. So they are not made for to fit genesis eigther - did you conform them by yourself?

Could be an issue with the rigging that the bone positions don't match the current shape. This would explain why it shows the deformations only if you use the morph slider to control the pose (actualy it should be a Property not a Morph see the P or M in front of the slider with the Parameters pane in edit mode - I guess its rotating some bones for wing movement).

Adjust Rigging to Shape should help - but in this case dont use Memorize Rigging after that because this makes the adjustments the default bone positions.

What you want are the bone adjustments to take in place when the shape morph gets dialed.

Usualy you have to unfit and zero the conforming figure, then you go to the Parameters pane and dial in only one shaping morph at a time. Then you go to the Joint Editor - Adjust Rigging to Shape there and back at Parameters pane you right-click the shaping morph and choose ERC-Freeze to save the bone adjustments to the same morph property (and only them called something like xOrigin yEnd).

Repeat this process for all shaping morphs as needed because DazStudio tries to adapt the character shape by autogenerating the morphs for the fitted/conforming figure but you have to double check them one by one after unfitting to see if the bones need adjustments - this is the case if the whole conforming item moves away from the default position with the morph.

[PS] Be careful with ERC-Freeze because the list of things it wants to save along with the morph could be everything that is not at default state in your scene. There is an easy workaround right-click the viewport Select All then use the actions Memorize Figure and then Memorize Selected Item. This should set all values to default state except the Figure Rigging adjustments in the Joint Editor that you can now ERC-Freeze to the morph.

  • Victorian Lords and Ladies Bundle . . .

As various of you have discovered - yes the coat, vest and shirt styles are variations common from about 1850 to as late as 1900.  Since styles varied widely according to class, region and occupation I tried to acheive a middle ground that had space to be morphed into at least some of the more extreme variations either way.  Some choices were made for technical reason, and to to make the garments easier to move and reshape as needed.

The Hat - I originally had tophats on both outfits. However, DAZ requested a second hat style to add variety. Thankfully, with both hats being props it is very easy to swap her hat over and turn off the ribbon.  It also makes adjsuting them for hair much simpler.

The Cravat - after spending most of a day attempting to tie a proper carvat in Marvelous Designer I retired in tears to my pint of New York Super Chunk Ice Cream and determined that you my lovely customers would have to be content with a simpler ribbon cravat. My apologies, but I do value what is left of my sanity.

The Coat - yes, it will fit when buttoned shut, since I originally modeled it that way and then un buttoned it to get a natural fall of the fabric.  No I cannot make a morph of that via MD, for technical reasons, but I'm sure some clever person should be able to morph it shut if you so desire.  The coat is rigged using Sickleyields very useful clothing templates, so it has ten custom bones to aid in posing the skirt area.  It does not currently have Dforce on it (unless DAZ added it after I sent it in) but it does convert very nicely - I checked.

The Buttons - the only items on this set without buttons are the hats, the watch and the cravat. When applying deforce do be aware of the buttons, including the one at the back waist of the trousers.

Female Shape - alas, there is no corsetting shape included.  However, I have chcked it with my own corset shapes (not released) and with various existing morphs and it follows quite nicely.

Ladies Skirt - the skirt has additional bones, again thanks to SickleYield, but also movement morphs, so it ought to cover most circumstances.

Ladies Jacket - The jacket followed the thighs quite nicely, so it has only movement morphs and no additional bones as they were not needed.

As these sets are now the property of DAZ, please contact DAZ for any any issues or changes needed.

    Lyrra Madril

PS I am out on errands all day, so I will probably not respond to any comments directed at me until tomorrow.

For those of you that already have Daz Horse 2 Starter or Pro, check your inbox or the top of the page  for a green coupon.

Thanks Daz for providing some alternative freebies!

Problem comes when you have the Pro Bundles for the Guys and some of the Women and aren't interested in what's left.

Same here. I had to really laugh at that offer as I own the pro bundles for ALL of the offered starter bundles

Thank heavens I never got that much into Genesis 2, or I'd really be out of options. Scott 6 has been one I wanted to buy and transfer forward to G3M for a while and his clothing and pose options, although not gotta-haves, are more my speed than the other male options. If I spring for this sale, he'll be what I get.

A few more changes.  Used Carrara's ability to morph in posed position to make some adjustments to some joints and the expression.  Made some adjustments to Fred's shader to reduce the shine and increase the grain.  Played a little more with lighting as per EP's suggestion.

Going to enter this and then concentrate on the scene where they steal the naughty lists.

  • Copying Parameters and Pasting them to a new object

Yes, just select them with the mouse with ctrl pressed, then right click on one and select Copy > Copy Selected items. The select the object you want to transfer them to, right click on one of its parameters, and select Paste to Selected items.

Selection doesn't work very well though, there's no multiselect so you have to click on each one, and often they select/deselect just you move the mouse pointer over them.

Hm, just discovered that you can actually multiselect them just be pressing ctrl, clicking on one and then move the mouse pointer slowly down or up to select multiple. I've always though the way it behaved here was sort of a bug, but maybe it's actually a feature - a different way of multiselecting. Doesn't work very well if you want to select random parameters though.

Maybe you can help with this. I have a character skin and when i apply the 3rd party gens geoshell to the figure there is a script that copies the base texture over to the geoshell and normally it works perfectly, but not with this characters settings. I have even tried straight copy and pasting, but there are some new custom shader slots that won't copy over. Any ideas?

Hm, sorry, no idea what can be causing this.
