  • will V4 morph packages for Poser work in DS?

fc2 are presets, they should work in DS provided the required morph packs work. The one you linked lists only standard morph packs as required, so it should be ok.

thaqnks i have the morph packs etc..will try them 1st to see what happens

    yes ..they work...awesome awesome thanks

  • OT: The fires in California are really bad
I'm spending time at my mother-in-law's about 75 miles south of the Carr fire in northern California. The sunrise is orange and the air quality is bad. The fire has burned 90,000 acres and is only 5% contained. Temperatures have been 105 to 115 degrees F and the winds keep shifting. Over 4,000 fire fighters on this blaze alone. 6 deaths including a grandmother and her 2 grandchildren. My brother-in-law just got home - the fire blew the transfer station, and the entire town of Willits is without power.

Those fires are Bad.!  Stay SAFE!

  • will V4 morph packages for Poser work in DS?

I see several V4 morph packages, but for Poser,  for real cheap with this new sale .. will they work in Daz Studio?

As jestmart said, it depend on how they are provided. From memory most RDNA "Ultra morphs" packs use PMD injection, for example, so they won't work in DS.

Are there speciific products you want to know about?

  • Looking for shirtwaist dress, G2 or G3

The Audacious outfit is pretty darn close. I don't have many G8 assets, but for this project I can buy some 2" heels for a G8 character and see of some of the G3 hair I have will work. If not I can pick something up. For the fullness of the skirt part since it's dForce already I might be able to (ahem) blow a little bit of wind up there to open it up. I can save that shape as a morph. It doesn't say there's a morph to flip the back of the collar up, but I can live without that -- or finally learn how to edit a mesh.

Thanks again for the tip. I think this will do it.

  • turn g8 models to g3?

I know that G8 materials vendors will hate me for this, but the answer to your questioni s YES!

Actually, I do this systematically, ie converting G8 characters to G3. This allow me to use my G3's vast collection of clothes and shoes. Whenever I see a new G8 character that I like, I buy it, and convert to G3. The only limitation is with the HD apect of a character which can not be transfered. I'll give you the great lines, but there is a lot of tuto and treads about this already.

    1) Load base G3. Navel and Mouth HD to 0. Resolution Level: Base, and SubDivision Level at 0. Pose arms down ±45 and legs ±6 (as a G8 base pose). Export to obj.

    2) Load base G8, and apply the coveted head and body morph, This is the character you want to transfer.

    3) Open Transfer Utility (TU). Morphed G8 as Source and G3 obj as target. Keep everything else as such. Make the transfer.

    4) If everything went perfect, both characters are identical, ie look like only one. In the Scene tab, select G3, and unparent it from G8. Hide G8 and put morphed G3 in the T pose (G3 base pose). Export G3 as obj.

    5) Start a new scene. Load base G3. Open Morph loader Pro. In Choose Morph files, find and select the morphed G3 obj. Accept. You should get a message that says "Created Morph Successfully". Now your morph is created and stored in the Genesis 3 hierarchy tree (in Morphs).

    6) Finally, with your moph dialed at 100%,in Tool Settings Tab,open the Joint editor Tool. Now go to Edit> Figures > Rigging > Adjust Rigging to Shape. After, in the Scene tab, put morph in Edit mode, and do an ERC Freeze (Now, when you play with the dial, you should see the rigging adjusting automatically). Put slider back at 0% (important), and save your morph as a Morph Asset..

    Et voila!

P.S. This method convert the whole  G8 character to G3. For my part, I always prefer to save the head and the body separatly, as this gives me more flexibility (It allows me to use the head on another body, or vice versa). Good Luck!

  • Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 2

Okay, I've uploaded the morph here: https://sharecg.com/v/91905/browse/21/DAZ-Studio/Quiet-MSGV-Morph-for-Genesis-3-Female

No textures included, will look into what rules I need to follow for future works if I want to share them.

Please test, I'm hoping I've saved it correctly. Any technical issues with the morph are offered as is, unless anyone wants to tweak further and share the updates.

    Looks great to me ;)

  • export import

I guess the export/import format matters.  I often export using the obj menu presets for Daz Studio (Morph Target) and Daz Studio (Full Scene).  Have not had any problems when importing the results in Daz Studio as long as I use the correct preset for the action that I want.  By action, I mean whether I am creating a new prop/figure from scratch or editing one that is already in Studio format.  I don't have Rhino so can't speak to the proper settings for that transfer.  Have you tried another export obj preset, such a Studio (Full Scene) or Poser?

EDIT - sorry - just tried going back directly to Carrara using the Studio preset.  No good.  You are correct and I am wrong.  Hmmmm.

  • Morph for fitted clothing?

Thanks.  If all fails, I will probably make the clothing changes permanent instead of trying to morph them.  Much easier.

  • Morph for fitted clothing?

Was the figure posed or morphed? If so you need to remove the effect of the shaping/posing from the new morph - you do that in Morph Loader pro by expanding the options for the morph file and enabling Reverse Deformations.

Make sure the preset in the import morph dialogue is the same as the preset in the OBJ export dialogue when you sent the clothing out for morphing - if they don't match you are likely to get unwanted scaling added to the morph (you still need to check this, even if you are also removing morphing or posing).

  • Looking for the most realistic nipple morphs/materials for Genesis 8 female.

Here's one from Zev0, who's done control morph sets for all the other Genesis generations as well. Lots of movement morphs, Puppeteer setups, and the G8F version has a set of HD detail morphs that aren't in the earlier sets.

Note that if you don't need it immediately, the morph sets occasionally go on sale; I've picked up a few of the bundles at very good discounts. Pop them in your wishlist and keep an eye on them.

  • Morph for fitted clothing?

Well, the clothing was made for Genesis 3, but I also would like to use it on Genesis 8.

I tried creating a morph for the clothing before it gets fitted, and I also tried creating a morph for the clothing after it's been fitted.  Both ways failed for me, because of AutoFit I think.  Failed, as in, the entire clothing moves when the morph is applied.  It doesn't stay in place while morphing.

  • Audacious outfit not working

Audacious seems like it was designed for Penny, not the Girl, so the size shouldn't be that significantly different from Mabel. I'll take a look later and at least confirm that I'm seeing the same thing when I dial in Mabel.

Still not sure about the skirt though.

**Ok, wow, yeah the buckle does not like the Mabel morph. Most of the standard full body morphs are ok, but I'm noticing the aging morphs from Zev0 also cause the buckle to behave weird. I have no idea why the buckle auto-fits so poorly or how to fix it myself.

  • Audacious outfit not working

What do you mean by 'support shape'?

Sorry, I meant to write supported shape - one for which the clothing already has a matching morph.

I checked and no, it turns out that Mabel 8 is not a supported shape for this outfit.

  • I'm having issues with rigging my ponytail.

    Part 2.

Select Genesis in Scene Tab and ctrl click hair.  To be clear, this ensures they are both selected, but Genesis is selected FIRST.

Hit the tiny button at top right and edit--rigging--transfer rigging figure space to make sure hair fits to figure.

    Conform hair to figure.

    Save to library again.

Now you have a basic working rig. You can smooth the relationships of groups by selecting all bones and all geometry at once and using edit--smoothing options from the 3d window right click in weight group editor, or you can use weight map smooth brush group by group. Save again when done.

    In answer to your question:

There are no circles and twist flag.  Those were for parametric joint rigging, used in Generation 4, and neither TriAx (Genesis and Genesis 2) nor Dual Quaternion/General Weight (Genesis 3 and 8) use them.

If you rig from the Figure Setup tab, it will label the xrotate, yrotate, etc. for you as bend, twist, and so on.  Otherwise you would have to do it manually from the Parameters tab by clicking the little gear icon and editing the Parameters.

  • Morph for fitted clothing?

How would one use Morph Loader Pro to create a morph for clothing that is fitted, like a shirt? Let's say I want to make the sleeves or waist longer, as a morph, so I export the shirt out as .obj file, and make the adjustments.
Problem is, is the morph created before or after the clothing is fitted?
And if the morph is created before it's fitted, doesn't Autofit mess up the morph after the clothing is fitted, since the shape of the clothing has changed?
