Hi,
please how to import the file in daz studio 4.5.1.56, there is no more things in the menu/ File tab. How to proceed now ?Dynamic Uniforms for M4 Not Attaching to ModelThere were two.
This is the one I bought:
http://www.daz3d.com/dynamic-uniforms-for-michael-4I'll try applying that video to that and see what I get. If it doesn't work, I'll definitely return it.
Michael 3 vs Michael 4Looking around the Daz store I'm finding stuff that I want. If something says it's for Michael 3, will it still work for M4? Or is M3 a Genesis based figure, like M5? Which I've already learned Genesis and Daz are not interchangeable, especially with stuff like hair and clothing. I need more hair but there's not much for M4, but lots for M3.
Next week, I get my last paycheck for the season with Holiday pay, so I plan to spend $$$ in the store. And then my W2 is ready for taxes, I get mine in early and it will be back in Feb which I plan to spend the whole thing on the rest of what I want and need.Clothing scale problem DS 4.5Hi, I still have the problem. Maybe someone her who can confirm that it is a bug that I can not scale the hip part of clothing assigned to V4? As you see in pic 4 I posted the last time, the morph following option does not work right with all items (shoes look really weird but that´s another story). I really need to be able to scale clothes to repair such things.
It seems that the problom also occurs on build in morphs that would affect the hip section of any clothes and that it also applies to Michael 4. I was posing him and made him wear pants and a polo shirt, that created pokethroughs on the hips. The shirt has build in morphs to fit it over pants, but those only morph the abdomen section and ignore the hips.
It really seems like anything I try to change the shape of an item on the hips does not work. The hips always stay in it´s original shape. I tried with some other pants, it is the same deal. Strangely I can scale the thighs of an item but no hips. Even more strange I can translate and rotate the hips part without problems but no scaling.
Though on the chest section scaling causes an item to rotate or bend, hard to say it really looks weird. does someone else has the same problem with Daz 4.5.1.6 Pro? Can it be a bug?
Maybe it is just some really simple thing that I´m just not aware of, like the hips or so are ancored or locked from reshaping by the software itself and it can be undone somehow? I don´t find anything any where in regards to that. Am I really the only one with this problem?
Newbie questionsshort answer: yes and no.
Genesis is a figure Daz created that can be morphed into countless other characters. It really is a work of genius on Daz' part.
http://www.daz3d.com/products/genesis/genesis-what-is-genesis
Without giving a full blown History lesson, prior figures of Daz were built as individual creations. There were men, women, boy, and girl figures -each with its own set of clothes. With Genesis, there's one figure that (with the right morphs, which are often purchased) can be morphed into different characters, with basically one clothing set. Older clothes can be used, but with mixed results. There are about five generations of figures; you'll want to stick with Generation 4 & 5. Hair made for prior figures is usually not worth it. OTOH, the "look at my hair" product is something I'm looking forward to getting.
So "Are all characters sold in the shop a modified version of Genesis thanks to sliders?" is a problematic question. Look for compatibility.
The Daz shop (and other shops selling Daz & poser content) still sells stuff made for older figures. When evaluating a product on the DAZ site, just look for the word, "compatibility" and it should spell it out for you. Other sites - notably the sharecg site - will give you stuff made for other programs - poser stuff can often be made to work, but stuff for vue, & bryce usually isn't worth the trouble. On Sharecg, text search for the word, "format". Look for "daz", and "genesis" for morphs & clothes. For noncharacter props, (ie furniture,) ".obj" will usually be the format you want.
If it's for Genesis, it'll usually say so. If it's made for a prior figure (such as Victoria 4, Michael 4, the kids 4) it can often be made to work, pretty easily, using "autofit" but it may not be perfect. Hair made for prior figures is much less predictable. There are ways to make even Generation 3 stuff work, bit that's mostly for legacy purposes and since you're pretty new, it's probably not worth it for you to use the older stuff.Figure setup questionRichard Haseltine said:If it's a conformer for Michael 4 you shouldn't, since M4 uses the legacy Parametric Rigging. Did you try my last suggestion, adding a ghost bone (one without any geometry) between the needle and whatever the needle is attached to?Yes, tried it, now nothing is moving. Though I may have changed something else, too.

Get used to it. A lot of the time "required" means "required if you want to use absolutely everything in this package"

Heavenly BodiesHi
Since I'll only use the female models for V4 in the 'Heavenly Bodies' package, do I need to get 'Michael 4 moprh++' for the installation?
Scott Livingston's Render ThreadMy December New User Contest entries. "Season's Greetings" came in second in the contest. :)
A few notes:
* I'm rather proud of the Lucy (Australopithecus) character. The formula is mine; the major elements in it were the chimp head from Creature Creator, Mec4D's Neanderthal, and some Feminine Touch. Her skin is Homo Erectus V4, as it's probably the closest thing available. If I owned the Genesis Gorilla I would have worked that in somehow.
* Everyone is Genesis except for the dude in the plaid coat: he's Michael 4 (the Homo Erectus M4 character).
* The two fairies are both Tamesis. The one on the left is the TamesisHuman shape and the other is the OWTamesis shape. The skin is the Tamesis Sylvan Elf skin for both, with different makeup options.
* The outfits are Mada's Seasons for Genesis...and the snowflakes come from that set, too. It's a flower prop, and I created over 100 instances of it and moved them to various locations to create a fanciful snow flurry.
* I rendered the background of "Season's Greetings" in Bryce, but can't claim to have created the scene. It's this one: http://www.daz3d.com/winter-in-the-lake I'm just starting to learn Bryce, and plan to share some original Bryce landscapes here in the coming months...Site Search not working.Coldrake said:In store searches, use quote marks. ‘“West Park”’ ‘“Michael 4”’ etc.

Coldrakecharacter animation --- help ... how do i get rid of sliding feet ?just tried the same with michael 4 ... thinking it was maybe a genesis issue
but it's got the same problem with m4 ... feet go through the ground
in m4 i've got ik-rFoot and ik-lFoot ...
but even if copy frame 0 keyframes for the ik translations to frame 1, 2 and 3 the feet do not obey and still go through the ground
what gives ?New Daz-OptiTex Dynamic Clothes thread [Commercial]fixmypcmike said:The latest version does check for items in bundles.Didn't work for me, either. I checked by putting Jamie Hair in the search and it didn't find it, but it did find Michael 4 Pro Bundle, in which you find Jamie Hair.

The only M4 chauffeur uniform I have is the one in the expansion for the Army General Uniform, but it's the wrong look for old/vintage luxury cars such as this freebie one:

You will have to kit bash but here are the items that could be used to make your uniform:
Pants and boots http://www.sharecg.com/v/42635/View/11/Poser/Mountie-Set-for-M4
Jacket (shrit) http://www.sharecg.com/v/34002/gallery/11/Poser/18th-century-suit

I think I'm going to have to fiddle with the colors on some of these items; the Mountie jacket in particular is close to the kind of chauffeur's jacket I want but it'll have to be changed from bright red to grey, brown or black.
Soft Body Cape collision issues.Hey guys,
I'm having an issue with character animation and simulating the physics for a soft body cape. So I have a dynamic cape attached to Michael 4 in a bodysuit. Basically think Batman. I have a soft body modifier and a soft body attach on the cape. (By the way, does it matter which order this is in?)The cape is connecting and overlapping inside the neck part of the body suit / M4. I have the soft body attach on the handful of vertices around the overlap.
So basically my animation is that the character ducks down into a crouch and then stands back up. The first half works perfectly when I run the simulation and the cape drapes perfectly but as the character stands back up the cape goes through his back. So where it attaches it goes into his back and then out the bottom of the body suit. I have checked all my collision settings and everything is on.
I just don't have any idea why the act of the character standing cause the cape to get sucked inside of it.
Thanks for any advice or ideas. Let me know if you need to see the animation and I'll do a render.
Thanks!
