Daz Central update
New update I can no longer access daz central. I have the dash board, daz to blender bridge, and a dead my library link. I cannot download new purchases.
Have I mentioned I don't like daz central?
Is Install Manager no more? I am trying to do a fresh install on new laptopI tried doing the new DAZ installation with DAZ Central but several products were just missing and installing things was painfully slow as you have to go one product at a time! Navigate to your product library on the site and download DAZ Install Manager manually, works way better and you can restart your library and get going in no time. From that point, you could double check on things with DAZ Central and try to keep up with that but I've just stuck with DIM since getting it again as DAZ has been offering great sales on multiple products and bundles lately so until they add a bulk install option to Central, it's just easier to click the check all and install in DIM.
Content Server for DIM and Connect down?Daz Central comes up for me, but with no products. Just shows bridges and external links. Same for DIM - no products.
Content Server for DIM and Connect down?I can log into DIM, but it shows nothing in Ready to Download. I tried the refresh button twice, but nothing came in. Still empty. All my already installed content shows in the Installed tab, but none of my uninstalled content from my Product Library is showing in the Ready to Download. I have new stuff that I want to install, but I can't because it's not showing in DIM. I don't use Connect or DAZ Central. I use DIM only.
Is it normal for DIM to only partially install products?Well, I never even tried Connect (wasn't a fan of the Big Brother-ish tone of it) and DAZ Central looked like a giant step backwards after years of DIM. Central and DIM supposedly use the same mechanism for installations, but if they were pointing to different places when crossing installations, then maybe some files are pointing to one location when they are physically in another.
Yes, that's exactly what was happening with the first few releases of Central. It seems to have been set up with the assumption that a complete beginner to DAZ|Studio would want everything installed to their default locations, so it ignored any and all existing custom content setups. AFAIR pretty much everyone coming to the forums with a "DAZ DELETED ALL MY CONTENT!!!!" complaint got everything back once they'd been pointed at the Content Directory Manager dialog and talked through restoring their old settings.
It didn't help that a lot of people already using and happy with DIM saw the promotion of Central as the latest and greatest New Thing™, and installed it. Methinks a bit of forethought from DAZ would have avoided all the excitement...
Content Server for DIM and Connect down?Yes -- seems the work done yesterday caused havoc throughout most areas of their system. Can't get to either DIM or DAZ Central.
I guess all we can hope for is the resolve it quickly. Sometimes I get the impression the DAZ company is heavy on the sales and light on the technical personel.
I also noticed the order number my order today has a different format. They must have made some major changes over the weekend.

Central and DIM supposedly use the same mechanism for installations, but if they were pointing to different places when crossing installations, then maybe some files are pointing to one location when they are physically in another. Any products that share files (usually texture bitmaps, but sometimes utility scripts to set tiling, or displacement levels, etc.) could easily get wires crossed.
No worries about tone. Frustration levels are a tad high lately...
Is it normal for DIM to only partially install products?Especially if non-default installation locations are involved
Thank you for this information. My install locations are not default, so that explains why Central was such a headache for me that I just removed it and stuck with DIM.
Is it normal for DIM to only partially install products?Okay, just testing the limits, there. I have never experienced any missing files in the, oh, 19,000 product files I have installed, so something is not working properly if the files are not physically present where they should be.
Have you tried clicking on a file link in the "Show Installed Files..." popup in DIM? The blue hyperlinks are only generated if the files are present, otherwise they are plain black text. It should open an Explorer window to that location.
Yeah, and that's why I asked: the blue links are there, but some of the actual files just... aren't. And it's not giving an error message in DIM on the install (you know how if you try to install Cararra or Bryce content without pointing the DIM to the correct install location, it'll give you an error? It's not doing that for the files it's failed to install), so I'm guessing it's just a glitch? I can use the right-click menu within Daz's libraries (Content or Smart Content) itself to either uninstall/reinstall or just install and the files then install with a "new" tag on them, but it's just weird.
I'm wondering now if it could be caused by the fact that I've set Daz and my libraries to their own drive? I took great care to follow documentation exactly so that all my Daz stuff is on one solid state drive (and DIM, Central and Connect are all pointing to the right places--that was the first thing I checked) becausse I've had drive failures that affected my Daz and Poser libraries and reinstalling everything is not fun, lol) and most things install normally and are accessible--both through Daz and via direct navigation to the files in Windows File Explorer, but I wonder if DIM gets temporarily confused or something sometimes because of it.
Also I apologize if I came off sharper than intended earlier. I should have explained in more detail regarding what, specifically, it was doing. I don't always express what I'm trying to say/ask very well.
A new store will come out: Tomorrow (2020-11-01)Wish there was a central page to go to in order to see the current state of the DAZ3D Store and what bugs are still issues.
Unfortunately I don't have the time to follow these forums all day, so I'm just going to have to forget about DAZ for a few days and check back later. I'm afraid to try any purchases right now.
I come from an IT background so I know the issue a database upgrade can cause. I'm hopeful the dust will settle soon. Good luck guys!
Is it normal for DIM to only partially install products?(I tried Daz Central and it's just... If I'm being generous, I would say that Central feels like it's pre-Alpha testing right now because it's not very good at all).
To be fair, Central isn't a new replacement for DIM, it's a simplified and cut-down version of DIM suitable for beginners. A lot of the problems people have been getting tripped by seem to be due to Central not always playing nice with an existing DIM-installed setup. Especially if non-default installation locations are involved. If you're already installing with DIM, and you know what you're doing with it, don't bother with Central.
A new store will come out: Tomorrow (2020-11-01)I can't dowload my assests. Not through Daz Central or the my manually on my account Product Library.
DIM installation option gone AGAIN after checkout...There are issues for some users with Central/DIM - it may be that this is related. Assuming the workaround does work please wait to see if the issue is resolved in the general fixes.
A new store will come out: Tomorrow (2020-11-01)We're aware of a problem with DIM (and Daz Central) where some aren't loading up correctly. This worked in our development environments and testing, but is running into memory constraint issues in our production environment for a subset of customers. We thankfully know what the problem is and have a plan of attack to get it fixed once the team is all awake again. In short, a fix will be out shortly for this.
Thanks, no rush on my part as I heeded the warning about DIM being involved in the store changeover. I downloaded all my stuff prior to that. It is weird that people are getting different errors, so you must have different subsets. Thanks for working on it.
A new store will come out: Tomorrow (2020-11-01)was 2020 really the best year to do this?

OMG you nailed it! That's like turning back the time an hour this past weekend, did we really want another hour of 2020?
BTW, I had my DIM open prior to the store changeover, just tested it. Refreshing did nothing. So I exited and tried to start it up. Nothing. Won't open at all. Anyone else able to get in their DIM? Edit- now it comes up but won't go past the login page.

Sales thread: Report Issues Here. & "There's Always Another Sale™"One other small thing. When you do buy something now, after checkout the DIM download option has dissapeared again, and the only option is Central.
It was great when this was added back so would be still nice to have once more.

Will report.

Sales thread: Report Issues Here. & "There's Always Another Sale™"I am very sorry if this has been reported, or is not something to mention here. A LOT of products in my Daz Central are leading to broken pages when clicked, no images (usually, old products have no images which is okay, but a fair few newer things are lacking images now too), but seem to be installing? I just can't locate them in Daz itself.
