RRRR Contest - Lots of prizes!Ken OBanion said:Yeah, I know, I've submitted almost as many non-competes as I have legitimate entries, but hey, it's not like I actually have a life, or anything!
Anyway, here's the latest draw (which I actually did yesterday, and I've been kind of piddling around with it ever since):

Hey, Luci - we both drew the Cyber-Arm Extender! Dueling Renders! (Cue the Deliverance music....)

Obviously not ready for prime-time!

Encountering a demon atop the Cathedral of Sainte Gerbille wasn't on the itinerary, and neither was meeting Count Von Hecksing in his demon-slayer persona. But the girls had to admit that he totally nailed the costume! How do I apply to Genesis the skin textures made for earlier figures?Yes, as SimonJM says, Genesis is already UV Mapped for Michael 4, Victoria 4 and The Kids 4, out of the box.
The default setting is for V4, and you can change that in the Surfaces pane near the bottom under 'UV Set'.RRRR Contest - Lots of prizes!MelanieL said:And for my final pull:802 = Battle Maiden

gen4 face emotions to genesis? If the gen4 are just presets of morph dials it's easy to transfer them for use with Genesis.
As an example, the Freak 4 Pro bundle came with a set of expressions located in Poser Formats>My Library>Expressions>Daz's Freak 4
To transfer them to Genesis I performed these steps.1. Transfer M4 Morphs ++ , M4 base and F4 base morphs with GenX to get the individual morph dials to Genesis.
If you need assistance with this holler, but you've probably done this or know how is my guess.
2. Click on the Presets tab in GenX.
a. Click on Add Pose button and navigate to Runtime>Libraries>face>Daz's Freak 4.
b. Shift-select all of the morphs .fc2 expression presets in the folder, click on Open.
c. Back to the Presets tab, change Figure to Michael 4.
d. Click on the Path button and select a folder to save the converted presets to a folder of your choosing in DAZ Studio Formats>My Library somewhere. In the file window, you can create new folders if necessary.
e. On the Translate: line, enable the Morphs check box.
f. Click on the Translate button to convert the presets to .duf format to your target folder.
3. To test, load up a fresh Genesis and apply the Freak 4 shape.
4. Navigate to where you saved the expressions and double click on one of the converted presets! In the attached picture, I applied preset F4F_006 and if you look at the Parameter tab you can see various expression dials that have been dialed. Be sure to apply the !Zeroed pose before applying a different expression.

However, Aiko 4 and so on are add-ons for the base figure and need to install to the same folder as them, they aren't looking for a Poser application.
Ah yes, I missed that part out about Aiko4 being an add-on etc etc.RRRR Contest - Lots of prizes! And for my final pull:

Baseball uniformJust for those that I know have seeked this information in the past in the forum, I am adding the info I have found.
CoreArts' M3 Baseball Set has the most extensive set of baseball needs. Although I am making my own uniform using Daz Dynamics, I really needed the props that come in this set.
https://www.animotions.com/store/product.php?printable=Y&productid=28654&cat=312&page=49&js=nFor those that do want the uniform, but some better textures, you can find some at Expressive Designs: (also some poses)
http://expressive-designs.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3&zenid=qrr2p06nf9ajareu4s4f1uokq7Expressive Designs also has textures for the M4 uniform available at PoserWorld:
http://poserworld.com/Poser.Clothes/Michael.4/11364/Baseball.player.for.Michael.4.aspx
http://expressive-designs.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=32Also on PW, an older style of uniform. Not sure if it's for Micheal or M4, though:
http://poserworld.com/Poser.Clothes/Michael.1.2/9516/Old.style.baseball.uniform.aspxAnd the last thing I found was also on PW, a catchers mitt:
http://poserworld.com/Poser.Models/2012.and.Earlier.Models//11467/Baseball.Catcher.s.Mitt.Prop.aspxThere are a couple of bats on rendo, in the freebies section, but those were easy to find :D
There is also a low-rez ball field on SCG. Good enough to use as a template or guide :D
Hope these links help a few people :D
THANK YOU DAZ!!!!Well first of all thanks to everyone for the feedback to my question so far but alas I'm still not sure if I'm understanding things properly. If I'm understanding things correctly it sounds like I would have to let the DIM download everything initially in order to establish the file that lets it know when there is an updated version to be downloaded. I was hoping this wasn't the case and that there is something tied to each individual's account that keeps track of when items were last downloaded so that I'd not have to download everything the first time to be able to recognize updates in the future. I was hoping I could just run the dim and right off the bat it would be able to identify updates based on when I last downloaded things.
For the moment I'm not really wanting to use the installer because I have come up with a highly customized runtime scheme that organizes things by individual figures and whether an item is clothing, a prop or whatever and I'm very doubtful the DIM would be able to accomodate the way I have things organized. I don't want to disturb this if I can help it because it allows me to know exactly where to find a particular item. Given that these products are the works of all sorts of independent vendors there is no defined naming structure for folders that everyone follows other then the ones necessary for proper operation of the programs. The end result being that in the pose folder for example you have folders for every figure all mixed together and many of the folders do more to identify the vendor rather then the product inside them. The way I have it I have a folder for say Michael 4 and then in that folder I have a sub folder for clothes for M4, a subfolder for characters and textures for M4 a folder for poses for M4 and so on. It takes me quite some time (months) to set up a runtime when starting from scratch because of all the folders I have to rename so what's in them is reconizable at a glance and then to place them within this organized structure of subfolders I've come up with. In the end though it greatly speeds up my work flow and prevents me from going bald from ripping my hair out in frustation trying to find something I know is in there somewhere.
Perhaps the next time I have to start from scratch I'll let the installer part of the DIM do it's thing and so based on that I'm wondering (because I have quite a few) does the DIM also handle downloading and installing Bryce and Carrara files or can it only just download those?
If I do understand things correctly and do have to let the DIM download everything at least once in order to recognized when there is an update available can anyone give me a sense of how long it would take to download everything when my itemized history is well over 3000 items big?

A new collection of Fantasy weapons is here! [commercial]My new set, a collection of high quality swords, daggers and axes of two different styles, is here! It contains 9 universal wepon props and smart props (for both hands) for Michael 4, Victoria 4 and Genesis (with Poser companion files).

Super Frustrated 3D Artist in need of Helphow did you convert the hair and clothes?
The clothes are original made for M4 & I used Hair Conversion System II for Michael 4 to convert the hair.
using crossdresser? or another program like wardrobe wizard by vertex manipulation?
No
are you using magnets to fit it to M4
The only Magnets that I used was on the hair in Poser 7.
can you use morph follower on the clothes in Daz studio then save as a new cr2 or morph pose using the save to cr2 or Poser format exporter DS4 also has a cr2 export option.
I don't know that, I'm still learning DS4.
can you go into the vertex room and use softselect to pull out pokethrough bits or create new morphtargets?
I'm not sure because the Vertex Room and I just don't get along, I'm more of a Hexagon 2.5 (2.5.0.5)
can you save the Fire pump in C8.1 as a .car file and open it in C8.5?
That how I did it, Here is my workflow, Hexagon 2.5>C8P(for scaling)\Coredraw(Texturing)>UVMapper Pr0(UV mapping)>C8P(for Final touches)Super Frustrated 3D Artist in need of HelpI’m posting here because I need help from two different forums (Carrara & Daz Studio). I figured it would better to post here than have dual postings on the same topic.
Background…
Over 6 years ago, I started working on a project an animation, I modeled a highly detailed model of a Fire Engine/Pumper and I have been buying different props I need for the scenes. I made the Engine Crew using Michael 4 with the older morphs for Poser (Poser 7). I even made some custom props for the Real World Heroes Police Officer M4H4. I could import them into Carrara 8 Pro (8.1.0.153) without any problems.
Last October I updated to a new Computer (Windows 7 Pro with 32GB ram) and to Daz Studio 4.5 Pro.
The Problem…
I’m unable to import (using the Content tab) the Engine Crew in C8P (8.1.0.153) without the morphs poking through and my converted Wedge Hair 2 from M3 to M4 doesn’t stay intact/in place. So I thought okay maybe I would have better luck with C8P (8.5.0.132)-The beta, Therefore I downloaded it last weekend and I can’t even load the 32.8 MB Fire Engine in C8.5P-Beta. I can load the Fire Engine in C8P (8.1.0.153) just fine.
I could use any & all advice on what to do?
Thank you,
obj's and morphs and DS4.5 ... oh my!i have a morph i downloaded from Sharecg... the .rar file is only a .obj file and a .mtl file. I have tried to use morph loader advanced and pro and it doesn't load on michael 4, the figure the file was meant for. i think it was made in poser. How do i make morphs in ds 4.5 with just an obj?
Compatiblitysamialshahri said:ok, what about things that require Michael 4 is it compatible with Michael 5?
Skin textures for Michael 4 will work with no problem on Genesis/Michael 5. You'll probably need to go to the Surfaces tab and switch the UV set to "Michael 4."Morphs for Michael 4 won't work on Michael 5 unless you have Genesis Generation X (and Michael4 Morphs++, if the product requires it). For best results, you'll also need the V4 and M4 Shapes for Genesis.
Clothing for Michael 4 will AutoFit to Genesis/Michael 5, but the fit may not be perfect in all cases. Shoes in particular seem to have some problems.
Similarly, Poses for Michael 4 will work, but perhaps not perfectly (they may require manual adjustment).
Hair for Michael 4 can be used on Genesis/Michael 5, but it may require some effort to get it to work. I have a tutorial that covers this: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/5646/
Edited to add: the same applies to Michael 3's hair and poses. Michael 3's skin textures won't work (though they can be converted if you have the right tools...I think this will do it: http://www.daz3d.com/texture-convertor-2-tc2)
To use Michael 3 clothing on Genesis, you'll need the V3 and M3 Shapes. To use Michael 3 morphs on Genesis, you'll need those shapes, plus Genesis Generation X, plus this: http://www.daz3d.com/genx-addon-gen3-for-v3-and-m3
Compatiblityok, what about things that require Michael 4 is it compatible with Michael 5?
Sorry for all the bother! But I need help again....That's consistent with what I would expect from GenX (important caveat: I don't own GenX). I don't think it's a problem with GenX, per se...because of the differences in the mesh, even Michael 4 Base will look a bit different than Genesis with the M4 shape and texture.
