HOW to use 3Delight Stand Alone Render Engine (tutorial)StratDragon said:Signal 11 error sounds like a bad geometry somewhere in your render. There may be a specific model(s) that are causing the render to crash, sometimes with 3Delight you can pinpoint it by watching where it is and what it was trying to render when it went kaboom. If its the case of the model then the rendering engine is not the blame. Often you can take the offening model and resave iit or export as an OBJ or something else, remove it, re import the model and get through it.
that something in the scene itself might be faulty is a thought that crossed my mind too.. so after i posted this, i searched for a scene i made with 1 genesis, 1 michael 4, 3 planes, 1 camera & 1 light. nothing else - and retried RIB & render - it crashed too...
so unless my genesis default is bugged ~secondly, what are the specs of that computer? OS version (32/64?), RAM and what else is running on it. Make and Model. Often you buy a laptop from a distributor and they suck up a gig or RAM with bells and whistles. Sure lightscribe is fun if you are still burning disks but you don't need it running all the time using up RAM when your trying to render.
as i mentioned i think in the other thread maybe, it's already a miracle daz actually runs on this system. it's a netbook, not even a laptop.
no real graphic card, only a lame integrated chipset. os win 7 (starter, not even win 7 full..), 32bit.
sure some apps might run in the background, but i even switched off wlan while rendering, no other prog running.
--> ASUS 1001PX // Intel Atom CPU N450 1.66GHz (2 CPUs), ~1.7GHz // 1024MB RAM // Graphics Media Accelerator 3150... <--<br /> this is not a decent pc, i should be ashamed to spam your threads with this sorry excuse for a computer, and probably not bother until i sit on a decent system - which i can't afford yet ~The 2013 Stonemason Catalogue ContestWell... I thought I would give this a try, for once.
Not only for the vague possibility of perhaps obtaining a treasure-trove of content as a reward... but also, I suppose, just for the experience of returning to the habit of having to produce some sort of results on a project within a given time-frame.
Of course, I just barely made it... sort of.
That, despite a myriad of the more common obstacles, such as lack of time, lack of render-processing-power, insufficiently varied types of installed content, and the occasional need to eat, sleep, and... even more occasionally... bathe.
Naturally, there still remain a whole lot of shortcomings to be addressed ( eventually, maybe ) in this final product... brought about by a number of 10-to-30 hour background and foreground renders, which in turn necessitated the inevitable cutting-of-corners to try and( supposedly ) save time. In the end, some of them didn't... and only resulted in additional reworking.
So, I had hoped to have two images ( a pair following a common theme ) readied in time for a double entry. The second providing an "explanation" for the first. That is:
A hobbyist's workshop is seen, well-equipped with wood and metal lathes, a mill, drill-press, and other assorted bench-type power tools ( I had though of using "Faded Industry" for this ) as well as being stocked with assorted hand-tools and shelving. A retired-gentleman is shown to be working on a table-top scale-model of a terrain, complete with miniature castle buildings and ruins. He is carefully reaching his hand down to position a small plastic tree-prop on the model terrain....
...... anyway, First Entry, here it is... Part One, at least, such as it is:
Image Title: "The World-Builder".
Rendering Application: Poser 7 ( yes... I'm still two generations behind ).
Stonemason Content used: Winter Kingdom, Ruins and Terrain. The terrain was mirror-copied three times, in a modeler application. Then all four of these sections were rotated and fitted together to provide a "mountainous-region" with a large central "valley". Now things are turning reeaallly slowly in Poser.
Other DAZ content includes:
Michael 4; Freak 3; Michael 3/2; Celestial Armor for M4 by Valandar ; Knight Champion for M4 by Valandar; Barbarian Lord for F3 by blondie9999; Viking and Saxon Paks for M2 by Daz, Lourdes Mercado, John Malis; DAZ's Millennium Horse with Astral-Spine-Bender and Dragon Lord Horse Armor by Ravnheart and ToxicAngel; Millennium Dragon 2; Castle Creator by Faveral; Medieval City and Village by Faveral...
... yes, that is the old Poser 3 or 4 disembodied hand up there. I suppose I could have gone for something a little more "photo-realistic" but, given the nature of the theme, I didn't really want to. Something a bit cartoonish seemed... to me, anyway... more appropriate.
... and I do have a texture pack, to spruce up that Castle Creator a bit... around here... somewhere...
new user, questionsrakor said:I plan going with genesis, since I don't own older figures anyway. What works with genesis and what with DazStudio 4.5? I often read requirements: DazStudio. So will that stuff work in 4.5? For example the old Sea Life packs or the octopus. Will generation 4 stuff work with genesis? Or what do I need that it does? Elite Skin textures and stuff like that.
In general, here's what works with Genesis:- Any products that indicate that they are compatible with Genesis (but be sure to check to see if there are additional requirements)
- Any skin textures for Victoria 4, Michael 4, or Kids 4 will work on Genesis. You just need to go to the Surfaces tab and change the UV map setting, which is easy to do.
- Clothing for Victoria 4, Michael 4, or Kids 4 can AutoFit to Genesis, but results vary (shoes and long dresses usually don't work so well...there are ways to fix them, but that can get somewhat complicated...here is one good option: http://www.daz3d.com/sickle-rigging-and-morphing-system)
- Nearly any hair for any figure can be used with Genesis, but it may take some effort to get it to fit properly (see the Hair Tutorial linked in my signature for more information on doing this). The same is true of handheld props for other figures...you can use them, but you may need to manually move them into place.
- Poses for other figures can be used on Genesis, but may require some manual adjustments for best results. PoseMaster can help with this.
- Morphs and expressions for other figures do not work with Genesis, but there's a product in the store that will transfer older morphs to Genesis: http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-xWhat works with DAZ Studio 4.5 and what doesn't:
- For items sold in the store here, if it lists "DAZ Studio" as a compatible software, then it should work fine in the latest version of DAZ Studio, with a few exceptions. Make sure you read the "Additional Information" and "What's Included and Features" sections of the product page. These exceptions will state something like "DAZ Studio 3 only," or "Not compatible with DAZ Studio 4.x." If you encounter a product that says it's not compatible with DAZ Studio 4.x, then it's only for use in previous versions of DAZ Studio, and you should avoid it if you're only using DAZ Studio 4.5. If it says "DAZ Studio 3 only," then it's best to ask here in the forum first.
- Some items are compatible with DAZ Studio, but have textures optimized for use in Poser. For best results, some adjustments will be needed. These typically will have a warning like, "Optimized for P6+," or, "MAT Poses may require adjustment in DAZ Studio."
GenX and DSF Toolbox Updates for DS 4.5There are only 3 genuine gen 4 figures: Victoria 4, Michael 4, and Kids 4. Victoria 4 and Michael 4 are supported directly by GenX. Kids 4 is supported by GenX, but you have to convert the Kids 4 clone morph (for auto-fit) into a working morph for Genesis with adjusted joints. No add-ons are required for these three figures.
The other gen 4 figures are not really own figures, even if they come with their own CR2. Aiko 4, Stephanie 4, Girl 4, and SheFreak 4 are morphs for Victoria 4, so GenX can transfer them. The same holds for Hiro 4 and Freak 4, which are just morphs for Michael 4. GenX can load their CR2s as well as inject their morphs into V4 or M4 base figures. The promo images for GenX include morphs for some of them (Aiko 4, Girl 4, Hiro 4, Freak 4).
GenX and DSF Toolbox Updates for DS 4.5Thanks for the prompt reply. If all Gen 4 figures are supported, then how come the product page says:
"GenX includes support for Victoria 4 and Michael 4. Further figures will be supported by add-ons." plus the pictures only show V4 and M4, suggesting the product only supports those two...
GenX and DSF Toolbox Updates for DS 4.5The full range of gen 4 figures are supported by GenX: Victoria 4 including all morphs like Aiko 4, Girl 4, Stephanie 4, or SheFreak 4; Michael 4 including Hiro 4 and Freak 4; and the Kids 4 (if you use the clone morph to turn Genesis into Kids 4).
The original Girl is a rather special figure, there is no morph for Genesis for it and it would be difficult to do one. Also, there is no Genesis morph for the gen 3 kids, i.e. Luke/Laura and Matt/Maddie. But the latter could be done in principle because all gen 3 figures share one mesh and are morph compatible.
Hello :D How can I convert between items made for different characters?First off, Welcome to DAZ! :)
Second, I can try to answer some of your questions...
Clothes are made for certain 'generations' of figures - Genesis is Generation 5, Michael 4 and Victoria 4 are among the various Gen 4 figures, and so on. Using clothes designed for one generation with another is difficult. Older clothes (Gen 3 and Gen 4) can be used with Genesis, provided you have the appropriate morphs for Genesis (which can be purchased in the store and make Genesis into the various Gen 4 and Gen 3 shapes). The AutoFit tool also helps clothes fit the Genesis figure. A search of the store will be most helpful here.
Genesis is tremendously versatile, depending on what morphs you have installed. I have several packs that allow me to alter the ethnicity, body shapes, and even turn Genesis into various animals, creatures and aliens. The only earlier generation figure I use is Victoria 4.2, because there is such an abundance of free material for her (and she was on sale at the time). What other products you purchase depends on what you want to do with your visual novel, and there are many high-quality products available here and elsewhere, in an abundance of genres and price ranges.
What do I use DAZ for? Right now, this:
http://subjectzero.thecomicseries.com/
I'm also trying my hand at more complex standalone images, but my hardware is limiting that right now.
I hope this is some help to you, and best of luck with your creations. :)

Age of Steel - for setting up your fantasy fight scenes [commercial]Age of Steel, a set of 18 dynamic and powerful fantasy fight poses for Michael 4 & 5 and Victoria 4 & 5, is here: http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/age-of-steel
The poses are designed for the Fantasy weapons collection, but they will work with other weapons too (although two-hand poses will probably require more or less adjustment). Due to the fact that all of the poses are created using limits on, there are some slight differences in poses between different figures.
There are also reset poses included.None of the poses affect facial features, such as morphs, expressions or eye movement!
These promo images show the poses from different directions:
Looking for ... Superman hair with spit curl.On her site, AprilYSH has a free M4 fit 'kit', that includes that hair...so it can even easily be used on Genesis...

It's the Michael 4 Hair Refits.
Michael 4 morphs not showing up in my parameters [solved]Please see my image attached. I've selected my Michael figure. I've clicked on Poser Formats > My DAZ 3D Library > Pose > DAZ's Michael 4 > Morph Injections and double clicked on "+ INJ Morphs++ M4.pz2" and it says it's loading, but nothing happens. There are no morphs in parameters. I've tried dragging and dropping the morph onto the figure, and nothing happens. I can't use any of those morphs that I've purchased. The only things I'm able to use are materials. What is going wrong?
The 2013 Stonemason Catalogue ContestMy first entry: title "Rescued At Last". Stonemason products used were; City Ruins Building 1, City Ruins Building 3.
I also used Michael 4, Xurge3D HAAS armour with my custom texture, Millennium Kids Young teens boy, Kids 4 girl, The Kurtis Outfit for Young Teens with my textures on it and bits of two Kids 4 outfits with my textures on. Also made the delicatessen sign in Blender and textured that, plus the graffiti on the roll-up door.. Figures posed in Poser and all rendered with Blender, in two files, then assembled in PhotoShop Elements. Rendering seemed to take an age...
Ibrahim for M4/Genesis/M5 [COMMERCIAL]http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/ibrahim-for-m4-and-genesis-m5
Ibrahim is a complete character package for Michael 4 and Genesis.
His face is a custom sculpt, requiring no morph packages to use for the Michael 4 version. Ibrahim for Michael 4 also comes with two body injection poses to create his body shape. One uses the Morphs++ and the second adds to that shape with some of the Michael 4 Elite Body Shapes morphs. The Genesis version requires the Evolution Bundle morphs for his body. There are separate shaping sliders for his head and a custom body shape.
Ibrahim has five facial hair options with and without painted hair, giving you ten options to choose from. He also comes with two basic body textures, one with and one without chest hair and a chest tattoo to add to his mystique.
Along with the facial hair selections, he has six realistic eye colors to compliment them and two reflection options as well.
As a bonus for Poser users, Poser 9 and 2012 mats for most of the options, utilizing the SubSurface Scattering node, are included. DAZ Studio users will find bonus HSS mats for most options, and genital textures for M5.
Finally, DSON files will allow you to bring the Genesis version of Ibrahim into Poser 9+ quite easily with SSS material files for almost all of Ibrahim's options.
Looks like my store is on sale today, too!
Thanks very much for looking.
Lips sync - how to ? will work in unity3d export? No, this will not work for several reasons.
Yes, you can export the DAZ Genesis as an FBX file with facial animation already done using the built-in lip sync plugin (note: it's only available in the 32bit version of DAZ Studio) or with just blendshape controllers that have no animation (upon export, you'll have to choose which controllers to export), but Mimic Pro presently has NO support for DAZ Genesis characters. Only Michael 4, Victoria 4, and previous models.
Lastly, Unity 4 (Standard or Pro), at the moment, does NOT support blendshapes (i.e., morphs) natively. Additional plugins are available for this, such as Mega-Fiers (http://www.west-racing.com/mf/?page_id=2).
So you would have to bring your DAZ FBX file into either Maya or 3dsmax (Blender is not an option because it does NOT have a FBX importer) then convert to a Mega-Fiers animation file and bring that into Unity.
So, on paper, it's doable but it will be costly as you have to purchase the Decimator DAZ Studio plugin, the Mega-Fiers Unity plugin, Maya or 3dsmax 3D modeling software, and if you're making a commercial game, you'll have to purchase a commercial export license for whatever DAZ Studio content you're using.
I give up... need advice from experienced clothing modellerHello,
I've been doing some digging to find out where I got the V4 dev rig from. DIM came to the rescue here.
It came with the V4.2 ++ morph pack http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-morphs
In DIM it's called the 'Victoria 4.2 Morphs++ Developer Kit'.If you look on the M4 ++ morph pack page http://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-morphs
there's a direct download link to a blank M4 CR2 file under the resources tab. It doesn't come included in the Morphs++ pack for some reason. There's also some even more stripped down versions available from DavidGB
http://forumarchive.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?p=1502240
They may be better than the DAZ ones due to being simplified.
I'll try those out now to see how easy they are to use.Just to point out, if you use a donor rig that has morphs in it; the morph names and dials will transfer over but not the actual morphs. This may cause confusion when adding your own morphs until the references are stripped out.
The cheapest way to insert morphs is to use the DS4.5 'transfer active morphs' option on a conformed clothing item and then save the clothes out as a new CR2. You don't really need to learn the interface for this, it's a straight 'load up, do the job, get out' process.
Another way is to use an external program like XDresser or MorphingClothes. All three do a quick, 'adequate' job, but, for morphs that matter, the best quality option is to model the morphs by hand.Issue with custom face morph and face posing.Ok...I think I'm in the right place, since I want to learn how to DO face morphs, so how DO I do this in DAZ? What do I need? Can it be done in Hexagon? I want to make some face morphs for the male Genesis character and for Michael 4 to make them look like 1930's gangsters such as John Dillinger, Lester Gillis, aka "Baby face George Nelson", Al Capone, Clyde Barrow, Charles "Pretty boy" Floyd, etc.. Are there any face morph tutorials here?
Thanks,
Will
Michael 4 Shapes++ NOT injecting into base figure. So: I've got Michael 4 installed in Poser, I installed the Morphs++ and the Creature Creator morhps all in the same runtime. I click on the INJ Morphs++, and it says it's loading, but the 11 Full Body Morphs are nowhere to be found. Same thing with the Creature Creator. The morphs install in some of the body parts (notably, his head), but the full body morphs I need so that I can use other morph sets are NOT there.
Possible complications: I have Michael 4 in a runtime from Poser 7, when I went to install the Creature Creator morphs(just purchased), I kept getting a message that it had to be in the executable directory for Poser, that would be the (x86) file directory (I'm running Windows 7). BUT I also needed Michael 4 in there, so I turned off the UAC, and put him in there instead of my Poser 9 Content runtime. I also put in the Morphs++ and the Creature Creator Morphs. Tried loading Michael 4 and injecting the morphs: SAME problem.
Are the multiple locations of Michael in the two runtimes a problem? Or is it something else? This issue is holding up a project that has taken a long time to put together. For it to be stopped by one technical issue is MADDENING.
Help.
One of the MOST Annoying Programs I Have Ever Usedafallenmind, if you have made any of those purchases within the last thirty days, you can get a refund.
When you go to a product page, it will tell you which figure the product works with. Genesis is the native figure in DAZ Studio 4.xx
Regarding what it is you have purchased, the Generation 3 and 4 figures come into DAZ Studio through the Poser libraries in your Content Libraries (not smart content, I don't use that, so I don't know if they show up there or not).
Most clothing and hair made for Victoria 4 and Michael 4 can be converted to Genesis.
I don't know how long you have worked with 3D applications, but 3D is inherently difficult, and there are many, many layers to it. The single best thing you can do if you are new to 3D (and I don't know that you are) is to communicate often with those that have experience in whatever application you are learning. The lion's share of problems you experience, no matter how large or small, can be solved, and you absolutely should seek help. Tackling these issues increases the knowledge of those helping you as well as yourself.
Michael 4 Privates Transparent?Computer crashed, lost runtime, I updated to 4516 with clean install, and now reinstalling stuff. Woe is me.
I now find problem with Michael 4 ...
His standard Daz genetalia brings with it its own diffuse colour, but when I apply a new genetalia mat (for example Mario) it applies ok but the genetalia figure becomes see through, not 100%, but considerably.
Upon rendering, all is ok, but it's a bit weird having almost transparent family jewels on Michael - a bit offputting while posing :-)
Can't say I ever saw this problem before with previous installs, and I have no clue what is causing it.
Any advice gratefully received.
:-(
Is there a way to Load the Michael 4 Elite Morphs manually?I've been trying to load in the Michael 4 Elite Morphs, but they are not showing up in the Power Loader when I load Michael4. I've tried re-installing them several times, but they just won't appear.
Is there a way I could Load the Michael 4 Elite Morphs manually?
Do I need to purchase and install the Michael 4 Morphs++ in order for the Elite Morphs to show up in the Power Loader?
AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L'ITALIANO?
