Show Us Your Bryce Renders! Part 4
Here is another shot of the modified Parkside train by Jack Tomalin. It also features Michael 4 and clouds from David's Cloudscapes 3. Main light by the sun, ambient light and mountain backdrop by the sunless Illhorn Sky Dome HDRI. Rendered with HDRI Quality 128, some parts were plop-rendered at 2048. Soft shadows were also plop-rendered where soft/non-soft shadows make a difference. The clouds were rendered with quality 10, some parts at 20 and some at 40. The extreme wide angle lens was set in front of the camera but camera FOV was set to a low 68°. This gives the bit of fisheye lens distortion needed to bend the tracks in the foreground.
Aged for V4/M4 - Got A BIG problem(s) :(Strixowl said:Running DS Pro 4.5.1.56 64bit on Windows 7 64bitPurchased "Aged for V4/M4" yesterday and am at the end of my frustration ropes :cheese:
First Issue
The store page says, under "What's Included and Features" tab
4 Character Presets for Victoria 4.2
Full Aged INJ/REM
Aged Hands INJ/REM
Aged Head INJ/REM
DAZ Studio Only MAT Options Include:
FUll Aged
Full Aged MAP Only
Partial MAT Displacement Only 0
Partial MAT Displacement Only 25
Partial MAT Displacement Only 50
Partial MAT Displacement Only 75
Partial MAT Displacement Only 100The installer, installs under My Library/People\Victoria 4\Aged for V4\Poses - Just 1 INJ preset called "V4 Aged". When clicked it does what I expected for the Head (nothing else) but there is no remove preset or or any of the following listed above "Full Aged INJ/REM,Aged Hands INJ/REM,Aged Head INJ/REM. I've download and installed a number of times with the same result :(
Where are these presets? There not listed in the file list either.Second Issue :(
In the tutorial that comes with the product (see below) number 3 it says "Inject the "INJ Aged for V4" in the "\Libraries\Pose\DAZ's Victoria 4\Morph Injections" folder". Wonderful, but where is this file suppose to come from? I don't find it in Morphs ++, any other V4 morphs or the Product File list and the product page doesn't list any other needed morphs. Very confused. :PTo use Aged for V4:
1- Load V4
2- Inject the V4 Morphs++ Product into the figure
3- Inject the "INJ Aged for V4" in the "\Libraries\Pose\DAZ's Victoria 4\Morph Injections" folder
4- Load the DS preset "V4 Aged.dsb" in the "\Content\People\Victoria 4\Aged for V4\Poses" folder
5- Apply skins, clothing, and other items as normal. Thanks for any help you can give :)
From memory you need to run the updater script that comes with gen4 models to configure the proper channels, is called 'update Michael 4 Base' and 'update Victoria 4 Base' in my install folder :)
Dynamic Clothing QuestionsGeminii23 said:Well, I have basically spent the better part of two days in frustration trying to get a single dynamic outfit to work right on an M4 figure with no morphs. At this point, I feel that any dynamic clothing I have purchased has been a waste of money.;(
Could you post a picture of what you are trying to do, maybe I can give you some pointers. Also do you have the paid plugin? There is extra control that you gain using the paid plugin but the free one should let you do static drapes fine on Michael 4 with the Martial Arts gi.If you don't have them I suggest you download the free fabric presets from this page http://www.optitex-dynamiccloth.com/FreebieDownload04.php and try them on the Gi and your other dynamic clothes, sometimes you need to go thru these and find the best combination. From the presets I think I used Single knit Jersey for the jacket and Warp Knit for the pants. For the jacket I selected some of the panels and increased weight and friction for the skirt and the belt. I probably need to decrease it in some parts of the belt. This was done pretty quick and I know I can get an even better drape if I keep playing with it, I haven't used the gi in awhile. The more time you spend playing with this the more you discover how to use the many parameters to your advantage. Don't give up on dynamic clothes, its not a point and click solution, it takes time to master but the realism in your renders will pay off in the long run.
NEED Custom Dynamic clothDo you mean 'Michael 4', and if so, he is of the male persuasion and I am wondering what kind of dress he would wear?
I cannot make it anyway, DAZ Studio Dynamic Clothing can only work with the Otptitex plugin, and has to be made specially.
Are you sure you need Dynamic Clothing?Finding Aiko 3/4 realistic under GenesisA4 is not the same figure as A3. If you want full A3, you must buy A3, not A4. A3 is a standalone figure, while A4 is dependent on Victoria 4.
There are different generations of figures in DAZ store. The oldest are Millenium 1 and 2, but those are already out of use, although you can still find some items for them in store. MIllenium 3 are Michael 3, Vicky 3, Aiko 3, Hiro 3, David 3 etc. Each is a standalone figure. Then there are the newer Millenium 4 figures. From this generation there are only 2 standalone figures: Michael 4 and Victoria 4. The other Mil. 4 figures (A4, H4 etc) are just sort of add-ons for them and don´t work without them. Then there is the newest figure: Genesis. What is called MIllenium 5 figures (Michael 5, Vicky 5, Aiko 5 etc.) are in fact morphs for Genesis, because Genesis can be changed into anything (man, woman, child, werewolf, gorilla etc.). There are also A3, A4, M4, V4 etc. shapes for Genesis, which are too just morphs for Genesis and don´t have the same features as their Mil.3 and Mil. 4 counterparts.

There are no scantily clad women, no vulgar language. There's romance, but no explicit sexual situations. As far as why I didn't change the figures, I simply like them the way they are, and most people are not familiar with DAZ so they're not going to recognize Michael 4 or Mindy or Reby Sky. I hope you'll check out the comic. I think you'll like it!Just a note for galatica1981 and others who did the download and then found that the CBZ format wasn't supported by your system..
The Comic is stored in the CBZ format. However, it's a series of full page JPGS. To read the story easily you don't need PDFlite or anything special. Everyone should be able to do this.
1) Change the CBZ extension to zip. (MaxRodgers.cbz to MaxRodgers.zip)
2) Make a folder for it.
3) Unzip the contents to the newly made folder. Any unzipper will do. I use Winrar.
4) Open the folder with your favorite graphic viewer and enjoy this young man's offering.
I used the Windows slide show to read his story. It's exactly as he stated above. Rather PG-13 in rating.
General Freebie RequestsThere's a freebie Morphin' Moustache at http://www.empken.com/downloads/downloads1.html#Free_Props (You'll have to scroll down a bit.) Note that it's for Michael 1, so it'll need a bit of tweaking to fit Michael 4 or Genesis...
problem with genesis genitaliaMalandar said:Sorry it took me so long to reply I got busy and not much time at the moment but figured I would explain a bit.I guess I missremembered what I had used before. I had been trying to use RAW's Prince Albane. Last time I used him I was actually using M4 I think. But I downloaded the remap mentioned in this thread, got it installed correctly but the texture still won't apply by clicking it, so I have to figure out where to put in all the different maps.
The texture won't apply by clicking for Albane, because all of his presets are designed for the M4 Gens, which has different surface areas. You'll need to apply the textures manually, then save as a Materials Preset in the Studio files section if you want to make a clickable preset. (A DUF can't be seen if it's in the Poser section. Most annoying.)
From what I can remember, and looking at the product page, Albane uses only the Daz Studio Default shader, and not the Human Surface shader, which will make things easier. In that case, the easiest (if still a bit tedious) way to handle things is this:
1) Apply the Albane full body texture to your Genesis Figure.
2) Attach the Genesis Male Genitalia Improoved figure.
3) Go to the Surfaces tab and expand out Albane/Genesis so that you can see all the surfaces (Lip, SkinHead, SkinForearm, etc.)
4) Select only the 2-SkinHip item in his surfaces.
5) Right-click (or click and hold if you're on a Mac) so that you get the pop-up menu.
6) Select Copy Selected Surface(s). This copies the textures and settings into computer memory
7) Click on the little arrow to the right of the the Genesis Male Genitalia item in the surfaces tab to expand that to see the SkinGenitalia and SkinHip surfaces.
8) Select both surfaces so that they're highlighted.
9) Right-click/click and hold to get the pop-up menu again. Select Paste to Selected Surface(s). This will paste all of the textures and colors from the SkinHip section into the same places for both SkinHip and SkinGenitalia.
10) For some reason, when you do this, sometimes it makes the UV map change. If that happens, you just scroll to the bottom of the surfaces section and pick the Michael 4 UV set.
11) SkinHip on the Genitalia is now finished, and you can ignore it for now.
12) SkinGenitalia will still look wrong; this is because you have hip/torso textures where genital textures should be. The final step is that you have to go through all the textures on SkinGenitalia and select them from the directory. The good news is that because you did the copy/paste for surfaces, you'll be in the right directory, so it's only a few minutes of clicking through things to get them all in the right place.
Hope this is helpful.

I have trouble with the eyelashes, how I can fix that? Also the case with the figure of genesis and michael 4. The results are very realistic and very fast. I wish someone could tell me how to fix the lashes.
The latest images lasted 5 min. of render, but in 3 min. quality is very acceptable.
Thanks for your reply.
Adventure Land Outfit for Genesis [Commercial}How sad it's not for Michael 4.
Proxima Shining said:Looks very good! I immediately grabbed it. Especially when there is such a big discount right after release...problem with genesis genitaliaI think what you are calling Genesis male genitalia is the M5... as opposed to the M4 which works with Michael 4 conforming or can sort of be fitted to M5 or Genesis. Genesis male had no specific genitalia. There is a corresponding V5 genitalia while V4's was built into the morph in a rudimentary fashion. My guess is that you are trying to apply an M4 to M5 genitals which will never work.
Oops... I take that back, there is some third party anatomy; you will have to check with the creator to find out what UV's it uses.
I have an idea for a new bundle/package dealTurk_WLF said:cecilia.robinsonYou have some great samples, you picked some items that I would never even look at.
DAZ just another Example on the Create-Your-Own-Bundle idea, There could be a Theme such as ***Fun at the Pool*** & Everything related to swimming could be tagged/marked as part of the Theme.
Thanks a lot! I'm glad if you find something useful there :D. That Fun at the Pool would be cool indeed. I never have time to simply take a long stroll through the categories and having people suggest such bundles would help to find related items. Such bundle would be good for all those summer-themed pictures. I also wondered if DAZ could make a set to create some Nativity-related renders. I always felt Christmas Havoc is too kitsch...

problem with genesis genitaliaHeraldOfFire said:Malandar said:HeraldOfFire said:Malandar said:I am trying to apply a texture but when I double click the texture nothing happens. And when I go to check the uv map that it is using to make sure the box says default with no other options. I have reinstalled the equipment in question but is is still borked. I am pretty sure it is not the textures because none of them work.
I'm going to assume you're referring to the male version. Have you ensured you're clicking the right icons and that you have the geograft selected when you apply it? By default, clicking the character often selects Genesis rather than the prop, so you might need to manually select it from the scene tab or the drop down in the parameters tab.Yeah it is the male version and I am sure it is selected properly. Genesis has all the normal uv options listed but the genitalia don't have anything but default which is not how it was last time I used it.
I believe the male genitals use the M4 maps, hence the reason it is just listed as 'default', since it only uses one set of UVs. However, an incorrect UV set wouldn't stop the texture from appearing on the model, it would simply appear incorrect or mismatched, so I don't believe this is the issue in your case. With that in mind, note that the male genitals should also have their own unique material presets. You cannot, for example, apply a Michael 4 body texture, since the graft itself has geometry unique to it. This is in contrast to the female version, which shares a texture with the Genesis 'hip' and consequently can simply use existing textures.
I am pretty sure that there is at least genesis male and M4 and M5. Problem is no matter which texture I use none of them apply, I can apply them in the surfaces tab and the texture will apply that way but it does not line up and the colors are all wrong because I think there is a shader present and I have no clue how to set that up.
problem with genesis genitaliaBy genesis genitalia, do you mean the Michael 5 genitalia which use the M5 genitalia UV maps or the Michael 4 genitalia which use the M4 uv maps? There is a post elsewhere in this forum where someone has created a M4 uv mapped M5 genitalia...

GenX and DSF Toolbox Updates for DS 4.5Nanstein said:Thank you, Spiderland. These are the steps I'm taking, per the User Guide Quick Start, but I'm having the same issue mentioned by other folks in this thread when dragging M4 over into the GenX transfer tab. I am seeing only "head". My question is, at Step 4(a) above, when you drag M4 from the Figures library, does more than "head" show up for you? Or do you only see "head"? When you drag M4's injection morphs over from the Pose library, does that trigger recognition of the rest of him? :)Yes, generic Michael 4 by himself will only show "head." Michael 4 morphs++ and your custom morph (e.g., character) should yield more.

It might not be the best way, but it seems to work. Hopefully this might help cridgit and vienastoks with their issues.
1) Make sure you have M4/V4 Shapes for Genesis in addition to Gen X (or S4, A3, V3 - whatever is relevant to your character).
2) Start DAZ Studio.
3) Go to Window -> Tabs -> Gen X. Click on the top bar and attach it to the opposite side of your Content Library (for me, the CL is on the right side, so I'll attach Gen X to the left).
4) We'll do a Michael 4 character. In the Content Manager, go to your Gen 4 stuff (e.g., your Poser library).
a) Go to Figures -> DAZ People and drag Michael 4 to the center of the Gen X window.
b) Go to Pose -> DAZ's Michael 4 -> Morph Injections and drag INJ Morphs++ M4 to the Gen X window.
c) Repeat step (b) for Elite, Ethnic, or whatever if they're needed.
d) Go to your desired character (in my case, I'll use Donovan for M4). Drag the body, then head morphs to the Gen X window (or just the body if you prefer).
5) With the Gen X window staged, below the center panel, select "Create a single morph" then "Transfer On: for all non-zero values"
6) Right below that, Michael 4 should be already selected. Click on Transfer. I'll just use "Donovan" for both the Identifier and Name.
7) Load a Genesis figure into the scene.
8) In the Shaping tab, for Actor -> Male, crank up Michael 4 to 1.0
9) In the Shaping tab, for Actor -> Gen X, crank up Donovan to 1.0
10) In the Shaping tab, for Torso, crank up Navel to 1.0For V4 characters, it's pretty much the same thing. Hope this helps.

Luxus Skin SettingsSlosh said:InaneGlory said:I like your David pic.I must be doing something wrong somewhere. Here's a test comparison I ran last night. First I took a look at the default Andrei texture in DS and then upgraded it to UbS2. Then I ran it up to 200P/s LuxRender just to see how it looked and to have a baseline to compare anything to. I don't think this is the best we can do, it's just a point of reference. Then I manually installed the materials and used the modified setting you posted on the second one and ran it up to 200P/s. Not liking what I see, compared to the baseline he seems way to 'volumey' I think I must have something fundamentally borked to get such different results
In #2, it looks like either his GTA (glossy translucent absorption) scale is too high, or the bump is too high. If you left the Freak settings on, which had GTA scale at 1.0, this will be your problem. Lower it to .4 as a good start. Make sure the bump maps are not higher than 0.002 as well. Maybe 0.003 at the most. Is that Michael 4 in your pics?
It was the bump map setting. Thought I had set it lower that it was. Will be back with pics later. Character is Freak5 using the Andrei character morph.
