  • Rigging to Genesis 3 Characters

How is it distorting? Since you don't, presumably, have custom morphs in the outfit for those shapes DS will project its own morph. If you haev assigned any rigidity groups to the mesh that may well produce odd results.

  • My Daz "Can't live without" list.

Most Bang for your Buck-- join PC+ club. Hands down. Then you get the Pro Bundles at a very nice discount (not to mention a bunch of the stuff other folks have listed up above). Even if you don't like the particular shape in the bundle, they usually come with a couple hairs, clothes, poses and a couple other things that you can get a lot of use out of. With the base morph sets that have already been listed (which get a nice discount), you can refine the shape to your liking AND you get a *ton* of JCMs to make bends even smoother and more natural with each base figure like Victoria, Michael, Vladmir, etc. Jack Tomalin's sets are all PC+. On top of all that, you get 2 coupons a month and one is for purchases from your friendly and helpful PAs *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*. Seriously, a lot of the buying clubs aren't worth it, but PC+ pays for itself *fast*.

  • creating clothing in Blender

    Hi there,

I am doing my best to fit a piece of clothing onto my genesis 8 character. The clothes are created in Blender and they should fit the zero morphed figure. However, when I use the transfer utility, the clothing suddenly jumps to the wrong place in my scene. Could anybody please help me out! I would like the clothes to fit to my genesis figure and I would also like to safe the dress as a clothing preset so that I can load the dress onto a genesis 8 character that has been morphed and posed. Can someone please explain the process of doing this? Thanks a lot!

  • All things The Witcher...

Hello, I've been working on an Adda morph. I took images of Adda from the game into FaceGen to give me a starting point, then moved that into Hexagon. If interested I need some help I don't know how to save out just a head morph to share, I tried some tests but they all failed. The texture I'm using is Godin's Darla which I think is spot on; so to get my exact results you would need to buy the Godin character for skins. I'm just trying to figure out how to share my custom head morph. Important, I need to run the morph through morph_fixer_64bit to clean up the eyebals and teeth becuase FaceGen destorted them all to crap. My morph is not using other morphs, FaceGen with some cleanup in Hexagon, one solid slider to control it. I have Xmorphs but have not tried to use it yet, would that help in saving out a shareable morph?

I've started the crown (still unfinished) the hair is LongStory Hair. I will be making all her clothing too.

Looks promising indeed... smiley Adda the white (yep,  red haired in game, but as I understand white haired in the novels as a result from lifting the curse ... )

  • moving to G8 questions

Well, there is no simple way to convert them anyway... But I suggest you use SickleYeld's great tutorials for that. What I would do is export the Character as OBJ and reimport it over the Morphloader Pro as a new unique Morph, so you only have to convert one morph instead of 10 or more for one single character...

  • Ever make a character and forget what skin you used?

Here's a link to a script. You can copy and paste it into the script IDE and once you run it, it will give you an inventory of all selected items in the scene. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/4049481/#Comment_4049481

What hair is that, by the way? I've been looking for a Betty Page hairdo for ages.

Sheridan hair for Genesis 3 by AprilYSH.  One of her style morphs is rermoving the rools and has morph sliders to reset and roll the bangs.

  • ?? Merchant Resources: Identification, Collection, Installation ??

i asked customer support last month about merchant resource skins,  i asked specifically about using gen3 skin on gen8. they said there is nothing in the license to restrict it to a generation.

lol Funny... we all seam to keep getting different answers on this. I was told the same thing (At First) - that you could use G3 MRs on G8 characters:

Here is what our QA Team:
"Yes... the fact that it is a merchant resource is not limited to a particular generation. So if she CAN use it for Genesis 8 then she is allowed to use it. "
Please let me know if there's anything else that I can assist you with.

But then I was told by the mods here that that was wrong. So I sent in another help ticket asking them if THEY were right or if the MODS were right. So their response was:

That came straight from the top. I will double-check and will let you know what they say this time.

But then they followed up with:

I apologize, I did receive a different reply after asking this time. You will need to reach out to the PA who created the merchant resource and see if they will let you use their merchant resource for G8 characters. This is between the PA and the purchaser.

It would be REALLY fantastic if there was consistency between what we're told.

The bottom line is - ask the PA who made the MR. DO NOT just rely on what customer service tells you on this matter - because obviously there is some miscommunication going on. I would say err on the side of caution and ask the PA.

Yep, then you have products that were originally unrestricted MRs that later changed the licensing to non MR or using the Daz model of "Must be listed as a required additional purchase."

Of course, it must be ridiculously difficult in the case of morph packages for anyone to track whether or not their morph was partially included in someone else's commercial product.  Skin textures might be a bit easier to identify.  But, even those would take a lot of effort to track and prove.

Obviously, any artist can license their products any way they like.  But, if I buy an MR, I do like the terms to be clearly spelled out in the advertising.  And, my preference in purchasing will always be towards the packages with the least restrictions.

It would also be great if there were some tag in the installation file that would auto group MRs as the original poster suggested.  I would think that could be something that Daz would require or add themselves when accepting an MR submission.

  • Classic Long Hair G8F Morph Loader Pro Problem

I'm not aware of that, but is this step so you can change a pose then resume the simulation from that point?  If so, I can try it out this afternoon and see what results I get.

    Scott

To Scott - I believe so, you're saving it as a morph to be used any time in the future. This one I wanted to save as upside down.

Are you sure that the hair was the only thing visible in the scene when you exported the OBJ?

Richard - The tutorial video didn't hide anything when they exported, but that's a good start, I'll try to hide the figure, etc, before exporting.

Thanks guys, I'm really hoping to figure this out.

  • suggestions for Genesis 9

    Dear Daz figure creators

For Genesis 9 Female, please fix the toenail beds. extra especially 1st, 3rd, 5th toes on left foot,

and please would be really nice to toggle her individual toes and toes_2s invisible

    thank youyes

    Hey Mistara,

Could you explain the toenail beds need fixing?  Is there something wrong with the geometry?  I do foot morphs all the time so I am super interested. The older Gen 3 characters had alot of unnessesary geometry under the toenails that were a huge pain when reshaping toenails.  Geometry under the toenails would protrude thought the toenail itself causing hotpixels in Octane.  Gen 8 fixes that, and makes it so much easier to morph.  I hope we don't go back to geometry under the toenails....no need.  All you need is a good toenail diffuse map.  Same with the hands.  Do like the idea of more bones in toes and heel.  Here is a quick render of toe morphs I created for Murphy rendered in Octane.

I just thought that was a photo. Congratulations laugh

No, thank you bluejuante, for always raising the bar on those fantastic characters you create!!

Totally agree. blue is a wizard with this stuff!

Jepe's Art Deco Statuettes for Victoria 8  LY Leonine Pro HDR Lighting Vol.2  Short Afro Hair for Genesis 3 and 8

Jepe's statuette product is Still New, but it should lose that status at Daz Midnight. I'm really happy with this one. (And I try not to buy G8F stuff unless it includes both genders or G3F. Best is when it works for both genders of both generations.)  Besides the poses and the props, you can choose one of 15 preset "props" for an instant statuette. The cool thing is, it uses the V8 figure, so you can use moprhs on it to change the look.

This is the #06 preset but with different shaders from the product applied, a different face, and the afro hair with the same shader as the body.

Art Deco in Bronze & Gold

Art Deco in Bronze & Gold

The fabric, pedastal and lamp glass, (the big white circle,) all have multiple material zones. I used a white semi-opaque glass shader on the front of the fabric, and a gold metal shader on the back. The glass round has a front, back and edge zones, so I changed the edge to gold to match the fabric. The pedastal has one main and two edge zones. I added the gold metal shader for an accent of the pedastal.

Here is a close up of the statuettes face.

    Face Detail Art Deco Statuette

I dialed the V8 head morph to zero and added 50% of P3D Hailey Head and 47.8% each of some male head morphs I made back when the Morphs from G3 to G8 thread was in it's infancy: the base G3M and Darius 7. (Please don't ask me how I did it. I don't think I could repeat the steps no matter how much I wanted to.) I also used the G8 Head morphs to further change her nose.

  • Where is Ophelia 8?

You could just take Ophelia herself and a Genesis 3 character.

+1 to this - I've taken a lot of characters from previous generations to G8 and they look brilliant.

You were able to transfer Ophelia 7's HD details to a Genesis 8 character?

I have successfully imported an .obj and rigged it to G3 with the transfer utility. However when I use it on Victoria 7 or Adaline it distortes. I have tried a fresh import and tried to rig it to them directly but it still distorts.

    What am I doing wrong?

  • Strides in Photo-Realism?

Thanks for so many detailed comments!  Nonesuch, I actually have Poser's caustics enabled in the render engine, and I have a 3-point setup using area lights, which are basically mesh lights.  One is a large rectangular fill light, while the key and back lights are smaller and made circular by a kind of gobo.  Maybe I could morph the iris/pupil to be a bit more concave or something.

Quick experiment: how does just the skin look on this male torso, rendered without any body hair visible so that any serious flaws there won't distract from the rest of the texturing?

Also, as per Sven's suggestion, here's a sample of what my textures/shaders look like in a more interesting setting (a fully modeled bedroom with a window and an Environment Sphere outside of it).  There are two lights: a sunlight and a lamp light (both off-camera).

With the figure selected in the viewport, go to the

    File - Save As - Morph Asset(s)

    menu.

In the window that pops up, fill in your name and product name. Then expand the tree until you get to your morph. Check it (make sure not to check any other sliders!) and hit "save".

Then in the data folder there will be created a new folder under the "morphs" of your figure (I assume it's G8F?). You will need to recreate the path leading there manually in an empty folder, copy the .dsf, zip it up and then you can share.

If you set a morph as Favorite (little heart icon), go into geometry editor, switch to ‘select vertices’.

Select the eyes (Or whatever), then right click in view and select ‘remove selected vertex from deltas of favorites’ or something like that.

It removes the effect of the morph on those vertices.

Check it looks ok, then resave the morph.

I found two videos, I'm trying. Hope I figure this out soon.
