Transferring all data to another computer
Place the files from the desktop's content directories diectly in a contetn directory on the new machine and they should work once DS knows where the directories are - it saves scenes and presets using relative paths. The CMS database also uses relative paths. Only Install Manager/Daz Central store the absolute location of the files they place.
DIM not working (was Can we manually install Daz 4.14?)Trying to fix another problem, I tried uninstalling and reinsatlling Daz Studio 4.14 through DIM.
Well, the uninstalling happened, but now I have no Daz Studio in the "Installed" tab, but also nothing in the "ready to download" tab either.
I took a risk and tried Daz Central, that just said "loading" forever.
Is it possible to download it and install it manually? What else can I try?
Why is Daz Tech Support so bad?Well, they DID fix the missing shader in BodyScapes pretty fast. As wit QC, the new texture and interior rooms expansion for Grovebrook House installs the majority of file in Lost and Found. The same issues ever and ever again....
As with installation, I avoid DAZ Connect and DAZ Central, as both methods have reliably proven to mess up my installed files. I prefer to stick to DIM. Taht one is rather reliable, so far.
Moving my library to a new (bigger) drive and I need a little helpDaz Central is just a simplified front-end -- the engine behind it is DIM. You can queue up everything in DIM, then resume any downloads that failed, You can change the paths DIM uses in Basic Settings.
Why is Daz Tech Support so bad?An update to the Grocebrook Park file issue. To fix the missing file error I had to copy the correctly name Bump Map to My Library using the same seires of folder names from the Connect Library.
I wish Daz had not messed with the way they placed and installed products. Between DIM, Daz Connect, My Library and now Daz Central, what a mess. Files are all over the place. I made the mistake of installing Daz Central not long after it was released, that totally screwed up everything. Took me a couple of days to get rid of Daz Central and clean up all the duplicates files and products.
I am scared to even try Daz Central again, not sure if they fixed all the issues that change created.
Daz Install Manager (DIM) 1.4.0.94, Now Available! (*UPDATED*)One more clue. Daz Central does not seem to connect to my store account.
I had never installed the Daz Central thing. Decided to give it a try. I downloaded and installed. When connecting to my account, the icon for connecting just twirls in a circle forever. I went to my store account page. Chose a recent item from my product library (not yet installed through DIM or manually installed). Clicked to install through Daz Central. I was forwarded to the page that assumes that I have no Daz Central linked to my store account.
Moving my library to a new (bigger) drive and I need a little helpSo I installed Daz through daz central on my new drive but whenever I try to install the content through daz central it keeps stopping. It will download maybe ten percent of a product, then just stop for no reason. And I have to click install again. At this rate it will take me roughly a decade to install all my content. Is there anyway to get DIM to install content to a different hard drive? Or mabe daz central work. I thought daz central was newer? Shouldn't it be more reliable than the old software?
DazStudio crash on macOS Big SurHello, I recently updated my Mac (macOS Big Sur) and since dazStudio does not want to open anymore ... I uninstall everything with Daz Central and reinstall but nothing changes. I see the little application icon appear and then disappear as soon as possible ... Any ideas?
DAZ Central Problem!I'm having the same problem, but I also can't log in through central and all of my third party content is gone
Not a fan of the new product library layoutNow I am hoping they get the sorting order sorted ... I would really like the newest bought ones first.
Ditto along with the missing purchased files
And the DAZ Central advert removed again.
Ice Dragon Art A Glimpse Into My WorldYeah I've got one going. It should have just installed everything and I should just be able to log in. I can't log in through DIM or through Daz Central, it just blinks out and goes back to the desk top. No idea why, this laptop is a clean slate. My main laptop is in the shop so I was hoping to just hop on and work on something. Apparently not lol.Appreciate the help though
Ice Dragon Art A Glimpse Into My WorldDaz Central is supposed to install Daz Studio if it's not already installed. But then yeah, you'd have to sign in. I'd check the thread for it over in the Software Forum for Daz Studio to see if you can get some answers. I'm still learning and didn't have any issue so I have no clue what to tell you. I'm sure Richard or someone over there should be able to figure out what the issue is.
Daz Studio Crashes to Desktop when I try and connectOkay. I've been gone for a bit. I have a new laptop. I have tried for three hours to install Daz Studio onto my new laptop. Every time I try to open it and connect to my library, it blinks out of existence and i'm looking at my desktop. I'm very very frustrated. I can work offline but I can't use my products if I can't connect. Is there any way to NOT use Daz central?
Ice Dragon Art A Glimpse Into My WorldI think the problem is, that I don't have daz studio loaded. I've loaded daz central and then daz studio through daz central several times now. It just won't open daz studio. I'm getting pretty damn frustrated lol.
DAZ Central Problem!Today when I opened DAZ Central the whole top part of my Dashboard page where the link button to open DAZ Studio is completely missing! I tried restarting DAZ Central and even tried restarting my PC, but its still gone, so I can no longer open up DAZ Studio from my DAZ Central, plus on the left side my links for all my assets and plug ins are gone too! Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?
Download link DAZStudio? As a long-term DAZ user, I know that DAZ Central is DAZ's new installer (and that DAZ is apparently pushing it in preference to DIM, which has been erased from the history books, Stalin-fashion),I can't help wondering how many people remember that Central was originally touted as a simplified, cut-down "DIM for complete beginners", and that DIM is not only not going anywhere, it's also very much the preferred option for experienced users — anyone using custom installation locations, multiple content folders, etc. A lot of the "DAZ deleted my content!" forum posts in recent months might have been avoided if DAZ had made it clear that changing everything to Central was not mandatory.
Ice Dragon Art A Glimpse Into My WorldOh, and older products! I always had to use DIM for older products because Connect doesn't do that well. Daz Central will install older products without having to go into DIM. I'm honestly not sure if I like it yet, but it's been super easy to use.
That's awesome. Currently, the loading button is still spinning lol. I'm assuming its going to take awhile to load at first? I've got a ginormous library
Yeah, the first time I loaded it, it took a little while. After that, it seems to load pretty quickly. You can also still create a short cut to Daz on your desktop and use it without going through Daz Central to start the program if you wish.

Ice Dragon Art A Glimpse Into My WorldThank you! This is going on a different laptop, so I am going to try it out. It won't ruin my preferred set up that way lol. I appreciate it, its been awhile and I am eager to get back to it. I really missed everyone a lot!
Thank you so much everyone! I appreciate it more than you will ever know. Hoping to slowly start back into things. I do have a rather urgent question lol. The new Daz Central? How does that work with having a separate drive? And I far prefer to organize my own content. Can I still do that?
Hey, girl! It's good to see you. I just installed Daz Central to see what it does and how it works. So far from what I can see, you can still do what you normally do with regards to installing content. I use Daz Connect and can still use that. Apparently, you can still use DIM and it shouldn't mess with any of your categories. It makes it easier to install pluggins if one is using Connect because Connect can't do that. From what I understand, those still using DIM can still use DIM for installing and sorting where things get put. As long as the file links are all sorted properly, Daz Central should be able to find things.
It looks like the easiest way to install the upgrade to Daz Studio 4.14 which is why I went ahead and installed it. The only thing I use DIM for is to install plugins and to download the zipfiles for permanent storage. I'm one of the few who likes the eas of Connect. However, permanently storage of my products offline is always best with the zipfiles through DIM. I haven't found an easy way to download the Connect files in one large pass like one can with DIM.
You might find that you like DIM better and will stick with it. From my understanding, the Daz Central is geared toward new users who are uncomfortable with how DIM works. For the moment, DIM is still accessible. I don't know if that will change in the future or not.
