Transfering Morphs/MATs from G3M to G8M
Yes, you're right, some of them have a specific UV set, that's why the result is not correct. In this case, what can I do?
DS includes a tool called "Map Transfer" which enables you to convert maps from one UV set to another (provided you have a figure supporting both UV sets). So you could use it to transfer the maps made for the specific UV set to G3 base UVs, and then use the transfered version on G8.
Star Trek UniformsAnd "The eyebrow thing" can also be done with a morph. :)
Adding Dual Quaternion support to UnrealEngine4 (Images inside)Not really related to the DQ, but maybe someone knows: is there a way (or a mod) to make clothing and morphs work together in UE? It was possible in the past it seems (before 4.12), but then they removed it.

With clothes from daz only simple things unaffected by morphs can work if you use physics simulation, like here I made the end of the tie moving, but if i try to enable nvcloth on the skirt it will be wrong.
@AlienRenders, maybe you have an idea?
Character Converters - Generation 4 -> G3/G8I know that we have GenX, but unfortunately the creator passed away and there will no longer be any update for G8. I really like GenX, but it has certain limitations, so I hope that someone may take care about it.
I have a huge library of V4.2/M4 morphs and materials. There is a good solution for materials available (Texture Transformer 2, as it doesn't need geografts), but I also like to transfer the morphs as good as possible and GenX has its limitations
1. GenX does not provide any G8 support. You have to go up to G3 and then manually transfer the character to G8
2. V4.2 and M4 have a hires mesh compared to the newest G3/G8 generation. To bring the hires mesh of such an old character to G3/G8, you need to transfer details to HD morphs. GenX doesn't support this either.
Are there any plans to work on this? I'd love to see it.
custom triax figure has no option to create a cloneI have converted M3 to Triax and it worked great (I have plans to create more custon characters) but I need to create some clones but it doesn't seem to have the option in morph loader pro. What Am I doing wrong?
suggestions for Genesis 9I found myself thinking about this over breakfast and I realized that I am really in no hurry at all for Genesis 9. The current state of the G8 line, with all the conversion utilities and morph sets has me quite satisfied as far as human figures are concerned. I can -and have- transferred all my Genesis 3 figures over to G8. I can use any of the G3 skin textures I like due to the fact that the UV's were made available and I purchased them. Zevo's products have me covered for basic human morphs. DarioFish's and Sickleyield's products have a lot of fantasy shapes ( and with tweaking and blending of morpsh ) some sci-fi shapes covered as well. Not to mention the fact that I can transfer any necessary morph ffrom G3-G8 within Daz Studio itself. Not to mention that most of the wardrobe items for G3 and even G2 are useable on G8 thanks to the RSSY converters.
G9 needs to be more than an incremental update and we need to have the same level of backwards compatibility that we do with G8 . As it stands right now, I am not in a hurry for G9. I will probably just get the base male and female figures and morphs and stop there except for things like props, lightings, scenes, shaders and whatnot. while I see what the PA's do with regards to utilities and morphs. I really love the versatility of the G8 line because it is so easy to use things that I have purchased for other generations. I would like to see that in G9.
Upgrading is not compulsory.
Nothing you own is obsolete whenever G9 is released.
You are still allowed to use what you have purchased.
Well said!!

Strides in Photo-Realism?Gregorius, Id just like to add a few tips :)
* Try adding some normal maps either from another texture set( as long as you will not be redestributing it) or extracted from a much more detailed sculpt.
*Try refining your morph with more detail - its amazing how a few lines under the eyes, extra definition of a feature llike lips, or a small wrinkle on the forehead can improve the overall look.
*Lighting - Others have mentioned this too. Try rotating your lights around - sometimes extra shadows can really make a figure pop.
Bump maps - I know you said you have them on there - but they are not doing you any favors as is. Maybe try turning their strength up more?
Specular maps - If you are using them - maybe try adjusting the levels more (so that there is a larger difference between the lights and darks)
Creating a Morphing Skull Cap for Genesisexport it in position with genesis hidden then reimport it
DAZ has no real ability to set hotpoints other than with bone editor and lots of fluffing around so this crude method the best way to line up clothing etc for Transfer Utility
and BINGO was his name OH! Yup, that's how it's done!
eJCM applies on all now...I see something similar with the "Skinchangers" product which applies a spurious morph when the head is bent, even if Skinchangers is not in use. I have submitted a trouble ticket.
i didn't have the problem until today, i didn't change anything at all, but yeah. it's probably the same.
there are quite a lot more JCMs that are related to "ManHippo" that you can lock one by one, but i would honestly rather delete the model and get a refund at this rate. it's a pain to deal with.
suggestions for Genesis 9I jumped from Poser to Daz3d when Genesis came out. Never regretted it. I didn't like Genesis 2. I don't think I ever even loaded a Genesis 2 figure in a scene after the first time I tried to use one. It's only been since just before Genesis 8 came out that I've started toying around with Genesis 3. I have no plans to use Genesis 8 characters. Really I think unless they went back to the original single mesh style for any future versions I'll just stick with Genesis and Genesis 3. But I'm just a very casual hobbiest and don't feel the urge to spend money repurchasing content for each successive generation. I did that once getting a character morph I really liked for Genesis to use with Genesis 3 and was very disappointed with it.

Report sales errors here. Missed it? No worries. "There's Always Another Sale™"take note of the description in "details" for the shorts - it's obj. and fbx. file, not duf.
Only PC for the Day item I kinda want is the shorts.
Edit: O hai, what's this? Special offer on getting boys' clothing for 80% off, you say. Oh no, I'm hit again. (Skipped getting the shorts, because I couldn't tell who they were even for from the description.) My boys really needed contemporary clothing, though.
Ooh, Thanks for the heads up. I missed that when I bought them; so I've now requested return of the item
According to the description the item is designed to fit G8F. As such a couple of mins work with the transfer utility should make it into a confirming item. Naturally there will be no movement morphs or helper jcms, but these are not essential for a pair of shorts. Maybe worth trying before returning.
What is the character base of Innocent Hair for Genesis 8 Female? (looks like star wars heroine)Tried to do a dialed morph but wasn't possible to get it exact despite I have a ton of head morphs, I suspect it's a custom morph. Only things I've morped and posed are eyebrows and eyes. Eyes and makeup in the promos are not from Osuine either, not sure where they are from.

Rigging issue
For being gone all weekend, it's all good. As for the mesh clipping in perspective view, was able to scale it up along side a Genesis figure. After that problem solved. Toy figure issue came about after following Blondie's tutorial. It said to export grouped figure, then import back in as custom. As for the Morph Loader Pro, your saying that it automatically gives the techsuit a full skeleton/rig without having to specify groups? One more thing, the legs are good to go. Left to right collar was good till I got to the fore arms, hands, and fingers. The mirror bone option wasn't 100% with those limbs. Any suggestions on how to fix that, or if not I may have to fix the others manually.Hi, sorry wasn't around this weekend. I'm glad you found a way to work with the Geometry Editor.
Anyway exporting OBJs can help sometimes especialy if you want to create morphs in other applications. By exporting the OBJ check the Individual Settings, have a look at the screenshot, maybe they are set wrong by default. Heared from others they had issues with exporting the OBJ with Groups. Make shure Write Groups and Use Existing Groups is selected. Regarding the Bones they don't get saved with the OBJ file format - rigging is not supported. This is why it dosn't make sense to import the OBJ again into the scene. I was suggesting to load the OBJ as a morph target with Morph Loader Pro or you could load this OBJ into the Figure Setup pane to have the bones autogenerated and aligned.
FaceGen Morphs not showing up.I know this disscussion has been over a year. But this is what has worked for me.
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 3\Female\Morphs\FaceGen
Open FaceGen - Create a sub folder (new folder) name it FG(and morph name) - Open folder and drag (from face gen folder) to new folder. So in other words the end result should look like.
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 3\Female\Morphs\FaceGen\FGMorphnameWhen you open up DS and load GF3 go to Posing and Shaping - under editor - Genesis 3 Female - Head - RealWorld and Morph will be there.
There is no FaceGen parameter like there is for G2 or Genesis just RealWorld.
Hope this helps
...End of line: Updated - Dead as a Doornail..thank you. Most likely the "legacy" scenes will just stay on the USBs or I may transfer them to a larger USB stick so they are all in one location. (that will give me a double backup). need to sift through again because one stick has a couple files from 2015. Hopefully I I'll find I was able to save some of my Iray work like the bus stop and railway station scenes.
Transfering Morphs/MATs from G3M to G8MWhat kind of morphs are you talking about using? Morph packs from the store, or specific characters like Lilith 7? If it is the former, it could be an easy task if you have the same package for both generations.
In that case, you can do the following:
- Load the Genesis 3 character
- Go to File -> save -> Shaping preset and save the shape
- Load the Genesis 8 Base Female
- Apply the shaping preset you just saved to the G8 figure.
That should make the G8 character match the G3 character. I have the DAZ Genesis 3 Female Head and Body Morph Packs and their Genesis 8 versions and have transferred many of my custom characters to Genesis 8 using the above method. When I run into issues, it is because I've used morphs on the G3 character that I don't have a counterpart for in Genesis 8. For example, I made a character that is a cross between Bethany 7 and Lilith 7, and that will not transfer.
I know there is another process that lets you make a morph out of a character preset, which then could be used on Genesis 8, but it is above my skill level at this point, and I can't find the link to it at the momemt.
