  • MRL Amara Braids for G3F-similar style but shorter on the back?

    Hi,

    https://www.daz3d.com/mrl-amara-braids-for-genesis-3-and-8-female-s

I was looking at this product but I dont see a morph option to make the hair shorter on the back and all the preview pictures show it having the same long length of hair.  Does anyone know for sure if this hair product has an option for shorter hair in the back? if not are there any other hair products here or on renderosity that has the same braiding style on the scalp but with shorter tails on the back? I saw a few but they had weird braiding patterns.  I wanted the type that has the braid going straight from the front to the back.

    thanks

  • OT - Walmart selling new OverPowered Brand Render Rig (Several Reviews Now)

Is there much difference in 1080ti "quality/vendors"?

It just so happens I watched a video from GN coving this topic a little while back. The answer is yes and no. Some cards will be overclocked out of the box, which for Iray might shave a little time on a long render. Some cards have better coolers, which while intended for overclocking can also effect temps in general. Considering how hard Iray pushes a GPU to 100% for possibly hours on end, having a decent cooler is probably a good idea. And then you have board quality. In this video you'll see Steve talking about the quality of other components on the board.

In general you will get the advertised clock speeds, so most cards should perform as specced. But the little things can make a difference, and Steve points out a couple of silly coolers that actually are not so goo inspite of their large size.

Personally I went with EVGA SC2, used, because I found a great deal at just over $500.  The card is good enough and at that price was too good a value to pass. Cards have jumped in price since then, and it hasn't been that long! (I bought during the Turing launch when people were getting rid of 1080tis.) Though used it still has 2 years of warranty left, EVGA will allow warrantees to transfer. (I verified this.) Some others board makers will honor warrantees on second hand as well. Also, if people are concerned about overclocking or mining that may void warrantees, it doesn't. When asked about the subject, EVGA flatly said they will honor the warrantee regardless of how the card was used.

  • Rigging Windows & Slider Doors

Are they just flat? If so you don't actually need to rig, a morph will handle sliding - just make a version of your model with a door slid to its open position and export as - for example - DoorRoom1Open.OBJ, repeat for the other doors. The in DS select your model, Edit>Figure>Moprh Loader pro, click the select Morphs button, and grab all of your morph OBJs. The defaults should be fine to start, so click Accept. If soem does need to do more than slide along a line (I notice you have some cylinders with opening) then that may require rigging.

I don’t own the model, so can’t say for sure, but is there any backscattering turned on in the surfaces settings? This has caused that ‘whiteout’ effect on hairs when there is no camera being used.

Genious, thank you for the help! I will take note of this.

frown still anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Triceratops, dooo doo doo doo!!! LOL

The Triceratops is my next dinosaur coming out and I should have the first few renders of it up later this week on my deviant art. I posted a preview of the work in progress below. Following Triceratops I believe the Allosaurus is next, followed my a Saurophaganax morph for the Allosaurus model.

  • Clothes didn't fit

I love FWArt's textures and faces, but those ZBrush designed body shapes have always given me trouble with clothing.  The absolute easiest fix is to set the character's body morph to 0% and then dial spin a new shape that's kind of close with the standard morphs (Breast Size, Hip Size, Waist Width, ect...).

EDIT: At least for me, that's the easiest.  If I could do weight mapping for dForce, that'd probably be a better solution.

Problem start at 7% ... so that wont work :(

Ah, I might not have explained that well.

The one on the right is FWSA Elizabeth at 100%.  Because of the body shape, Victoria 8 is at 65%.  For the one on the left, I dialed the Elizabeth Body morph down to 0%.  After that, I ramped Victoria 8 Body up to 65%.  Elizbeth was a bit more full figured, so I dialed the Voluptuous morph up to 65% and, since that was a bit of overkill, Body Size to -20%.  Now the bodies are fairly close and there's no funkiness around the breasts.

That top looks like it should work with dForce, if you use animation time line and at zero have the figure at base G8 shape and set the figure morph further down the timeline it may just fix that right up for you.

I am noob, so i have no idea what you said. I dont use animation. Just normal renders.

Same boat here.  I can see the potential of dForce, it just looks a bit complicated for where I'm at.  But still...

Hey!  That kinda worked!  Now let's see if I can remember how I did it.

Loaded Elizabeth, the hair, SuperJeans, and T-Shirt.  With T-Shirt selected, I went to Edit -> Figure -> Geometry -> Add dForce Modifier: Dynamic Surface.  Also, it will save you some grief to set the Fit-OverSuperJeans morph to 100% under Parameters now as well.  With Elizabeth selected, go to the Parameters and set the Elizabeth morph to 0% (full Elizabeth, not just the body or head).  I had to turn on the Timeline Tab because, like you, I only do single images.  Go to the Timeline Tab and advance the slider bar to 30.  Now go back and set the Elizabeth morph back to 100% and apply a pose if you want (I didn't, but I know you have to do it here instead of earlier).  Switch to the Simulation Settings Tab and set Frames to Simulate to Animated (Use Timeline Play Range).  Now, hit the Simulate button at the top and hope for the best.  The first time I did it, the shirt exploded (probably because I didn't have that Fit morph set).  But the second time, you see above.  You'll probably have to turn the Mesh Smoothing back on, since I think the Simulation process turns it off.

  • How to install OLD content in DS4

Which products specifically are you trying to install?  I'm assuming https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-3-0-body-morph-pack and https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-3-0-head-morph-pack .  I appear to have both of them in the newer zipped runtime format, not the old .exe installer format, which would sidestep any .exe installer issue you might have, but you indicated that even on a fresh download you were still seeing exes.  Is it possible that you are still looking at one of your original files and you just overlooked one of your new downloads?  Or that DIM somehow gives something different than the files you get from a manual download?   Or maybe there's something in a bundle that's different? You should be able to get these two from your content library:

please forgive if this was asked already,

does she have separate sliders for morph only and morph with scaling?
is a deal breaker for me when they cludge it into only 1 slider.

Eh ... kind of? The bulk of her scaling is in the main controller, but there's some scaling in her Body slider as well. The Body slider makes her a little smaller, the main slider makes her a lot smaller.

does she have elbow jcm for base subd level?
    is another deal breaker
stephanie 8 only came with lvl1 and 2 elbow jcm, nothing for non-hd

    thanks!smiley

A ton of truths have been expressed here and my truth is pretty on par. I know a great gift card deal when I see one and this is undoubtedly a great fift card deal. On the day Mei Lin was released I had no financial issues with investing 300 or so in a gift card considering I've spent $500.00 or so on them in the past few weeks. I put twenty items in Cart including a gift card and the HD base at $12 and change but had a huge struggle to settle/pick for free items to  make the count. It was like picking blueberries from a bush already picked dry. So I lowered the cart, opened a new window, cleared the cart and purchased some free items, than over the next few days did three purchases amounting to 37.00 dollars in other items, always going back and reviewing the Mei Lin cart and the new Mei Lin offers which were still stale. My store credit is almost depleted and I could use a decent gift card discount but I still can't justify buying this bundle when I won't use it or the free items I really don't want or need. Maybe if  Daz would include the HD morph in the package because it feels like a rip when it's an add-on, or maybe if they included some canadianized, eurpoeanized or americanized work/everyday wear/hair. I personally can't justify dowloading this just because it's free. I do appreciate Daz's offer but there is something 'off' about this bundle. Valdimir bundle cost me 126.00  while Mei Lin, her Hd and 17 other items  is costing me 11.00. I'm afraid if I buy a 300 dollar gift card, I'll get more offers like this and never spend it because there are no old products I really want or need and the bundles don't have the luster they once had. I had Mei Lin 7 but not Mei Lin 6 so I would have been even more disappointed had I owned both bundles. The point is had the freebee offers been sweeter or the bundle better, I would have purchased it in a heart beat.

Is that everything in the cart with Mei Line Pro 8? Because the total doesn't matchj the visible items to me - $288.79 is what I see.

The Vladimir items shown don't add up to the displayed total either.

  • Clothes didn't fit

Dforce uses animation cuz it is doing a simulation from one pose to another for the clothing to drape.

Generally you want to start a dForce simulation from a zero pose, or possibly a modified zero pose, so that the cloth isn't intersecting - you can do that without using the Timeline, but only straight from start pose to final pose. using the Timeline allows more control of what happens at intermediate stages, and also makes it easier to add in chgnaging morph values.

  • The Things Which Could Be Worse Need Cats To Make Them Better Complaint Thread

Complaint:  Arghhhh..., snow! sad I didn't go out driving to do my chores yesterday.  I should have because this morning I woke up to 3 inches of snow on the ground, the roads all slushy, still snowing and 9 to 10 inches predicted.  Arghhhh.  I need to get groceries, go to the post office and take the garbage to the transfer station.  I guess I could walk to the first two if absolutely necessary and if I tie the full garbage bag closed it should keep for a few days.

Non-complaint:  It's snowing outside and the the first snow always looks so pretty.  I've got peach brandy, I've got vodka, I've got lemonaid, I've got hot chocolate.  I've got milk and cereal.  I've got oatmeal and lots of frozen hamburg & ham and shrimp and I've got potatoes and bread.  Not many canned goods but at least I won't starve 'till the weather breaks and the roads get plowed.

Or "ploughed" for those of you who still insist on using three letters where one will do. cheeky  I've been considering starting a "Ban the OUGH" organization. devil

Tell us again WHY you left Florida?  It hasn't gotten any colder here, and we didn't start getting snow.  I'm confused!  surprise  And don't tell us you "missed having four seasons".  We have seasons; you just have to stop and breathe once in awhile.  And the only people who say that are the ones who left Florida and now they're trying to justify their decision.  wink

I agree, we should ban the OUGH's.  And "colour" and "cheque", and "programme" too, while we're at it!  (apologies to KK)

I mean, really, next they'll be trying to make us spell it "doughnut" instead of its rightful and proper way, "donut!"  LOL  cheeky

You speak your language and let others speak their own language please.  I have never heard of a plow,  I do know what a plough is,and a ploughshare, am happy during the bad weather when I see the showploughs clearing the mountain roads.

Do tell me, what do you have against Ploughs, when you allow tough rough, cough, bough, dough, that's only the little words though, although we mustn't forget borough, thorough, hiccough.  and so forth. If that's not enough where would you be without your sourdough to make artisan bread products. Have you had a breakthrough yet?  am I convincing you.

Says she, munching happily on a jam and cream doughnut,   thankyou for reminding me I had some.  They go nicely after a nice ploughman's lunch

You're absolutely right!  We'll have to start using tuff, ruff, hack up a loogie (not lougey), branch, raw bread putty, neighborhood um, community, and throatal fibrilation.  But that last one needs some work.

But I totally understand your stance.  So if we have to keep "ough", then can we at least go "all in?"

    For example:

    "Doughnought"?

    "Hellough!"

    "Goughd Daye"

    "Gought Night"

    "Craeyouns"

    "Newspapours"

    "Goughing Onlighne"

    "Maeking Suppour"

Hey, with some creativity, we could create a whole new language here.  cheeky

Dyw un iaith byth yn ddigon

    lol!

Aaybemay eway ouldcay ustjay eaksay igpay atinlay  wink

  • Dforce animation Save/Load issue

I am having a strange issue. Basically, whenever I load a DAZ3D scene with a dynamic cloth item that I have run a simulation on (timeline controlled), the loaded scene has the clothign item back to it's pre-simulation shape. This usually ruins about an hours work and is highly frustating since DAZ doesn't seem to support saving these animations as morphs without morph loader pro's help; a process that is quiet annoying to my workflow.
