FaceShifter for Genesis 8 Female
ah, here they are. Thanks so much. So these are morphed facial expressions. WOW! Thanks so much! Got both! Very realistic for sure!
Yep, I custom sculpted these morph based expressions in Maya using FACS as reference. Unfortunately the Adjust Rigging To Shape feature wasn't giving me great results, so almost every morph has hand tweaked joint positions. Not perfect by any means, but I had 96 morphs to get through and wanted to release this as a freebie

I'll be ordering the latest iPhone soon to take advantage of the facial mocap posibilities, so I'll either update this product to support the blendshapes required by Face ID or I'll release a new version with the additional blendshapes and correct naming convention.
Ultimately, if I one day end up becoming a PA I'd love to do a HD version if this based on 3d facial scans.
daz to maya to dazMotionbuilder HIK is slightly different from Maya's and I have been unable to transfer animation directly from Maya to DS. I dont know why or how it is different. It just is. If you want to animate in Maya, you will have to use MB as middleware. Maybe there is a solution using iClone, but I dont use iClone so I can't recommend that way.Transferring characters between generations?I know that GenX is a thing, but I also know that the author passed on (in the metaphorical sense), so it's both not going to get any update to G8, and is unlikely to get an appreciable discount any time soon, so I've been messing around with SickleYield's guide:
https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/journal/Tutorial-Transferring-Character-Morphs-G1G2G3G8-409437916
I've had success when it comes to transferring G3 morphs to G8, and can now successfully use shaping and posing morphs that I originally bought for G3 on G8 characters.
However, any attempt to transfer morphs between generations with more different body shapes have been various degrees of "not what I want". I've got a few more stylised characters from the G1 and G2 generations that I'd like to have working in G8 if possible; I've got characters such as Kimberly and a customised mix of Girl 6 and Ysabeau that I really like, but if possible I'd like to enjoy the much larger asset collections (and the improved tools) I have for G8.
Unfortunately, my attempts to transfer these characters to the newer base seem to transfer just a "delta" of the morph rather than an "absolute", so the characters also acquire all the differences between the base shapes, which isn't what I want.If I want the transferred character to be as close as possible to the original body shape, what method should I be using? (Or is this simply not possible within Daz itself? If necessary, I am pretty competent with Blender modelling, but while I've certainly transferred Daz assets into Blender, I don't entirely understand the process for going the other way.)
EDIT: Shoot, I was sure I'd posted this in the Daz Studio Discussion section. If a mod needs to move it, I apologise.
Dforce animation Save/Load issue@Richard Yeah I am aware of that and, using morph loader pro, I could import it back as a shape... problem is it is already saved in a non-simulated state somehow even though the preview scene picture shows it post simulation... about 45 min of work down the drain to get it just right... so annoying.
@RGcincy Thanks for the suggestion but I already checked that. For some reason the scene was saved at the 0 timeline (somehow...) and forwarding the timeline to the end doesn't produce the animation that was present when I saved the scene.
@Everyone Thanks for the suggestions, I think I know how all this works I guess I was just upset and posted this here. Probably shouldn't have because honestly I don't expect much could be done now. I hoped someone had perhaps thought of something I hadn't. Seriously DAZ get it together... please allow us a way, in tool, to save these animations as morph targets or SOMETHING....
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 11Here is Martina wearing the Leni hair. I think the character is beautiful, and the hair is gorgeous. As noted before, the wind sweeps the hair only in the depicted direction and there is no morph to make it hang straight. There are morphs for moving parts of the hair, or making the tail fatter or thinner (i.e., changing the spread). The clothing is Blooming Outfit with a different material/shader. No special lighting used.

Thanks for showing it! It is very pretty. I'm going to pass on it since I want more versatile hair though. It would take a lot of wind to blow all that thick hair to one side which is that length. Martina is very nice too.
Clothes didn't fitLosingSignal Thank you for your answer. I tried using dForce as you wrote, but not very successfully :( Shoulders didnt fit and Mesh Smoothing not helping.
And i dont understand why use timeline tab? To fit figure to clothes? But then if i need to use this figure in not one but couple of renders with different clothes then figure would be different in other renders?
You're really, really close. That looks just like mine did before I set the T-Shirt's Enable Smoothing button to On. I'd love to see Aave Nainen's video, especially if it shows how to save the fit as a morph. That would save a ton of work over the course of several renders.
EDIT: Man, I'm slow on hitting that Post button...
And yeah, the Timeline is needed to make the clothes fit the morphed figure. If you were using Victoria 8 or the base Genesis 8 Female body, you could skip the business with the timeline and the Simulation settings, just apply the dForce modifier and hit Simulate. But since Elizabeth and Rebekah have custom scultped figures, the t-shirt's mesh doesn't really know what to do with it. Just hitting Simulate will leave the underside of the breasts misshaped. I'm imagining that the software takes the shape of the shirt at the start of the timeline and then uses the physics engine to determine the drape of cloth over the course of the simulation. Since the shirt looks nice without the character morph, dForce thinks that's how its supposed to look and rolls forward, even as the timeline slowly shifts your character to the full morph you want.
One other thing I learned the hard way is that just hitting Simulate to get a dForce outfit to fit a pose, even with no other problems, is that if the cloth crosses itself during the simulation process, it explodes (very Ghostbusters Proton Pack-like, now that I think about it...). Using the time line would let you control that pose midway through so that the simulation doesn't try to move the character's arm through its own torso (for example).
Clothes didn't fitHere is a video that should help you get the fit you need on most any figure. This doesn't always work, especially for morph extreme shapes ie: if the figure you want to morph to is way tiny the cloth will be way too big (could be useful for lost waif type renders though!) If you want to save the sim result as a morph you'll want to set mesh resolution back to base, export obj and then load in as a morph in morph loader pro. Please note this video is by no means professional, there is no sound but should give you the basics of using Timeline with dForce to fix mesh crumpling.
Collisions to MorphsSince a lot of clothing ad hair have a smoothing modifier with collisions applied in DS that other programs like Carrara don't have, I thought making a morph for those collisions would be a solution. I've tried to do this with different clothing, but I'm about to show you an issue I get every time.
I'm using a Bobbie25 Classy Casual dress I bought a thousand years ago on G1 (pic 1). I made sure Resolution Level in the Mesh Resolution tab was set to Base. I8 exported as an OBJ with the conversion se to DAZ Studio and Scale at 100. And then...
Edit > Figure or Object > Morph Loader Pro...
Import settings are hes same as export, so the conversion set to DAZ Studio and Scale at 100.
Click Load Morph Files... and select my OBJ. Click Acce-pt.
Save as... > Support Asset >Morph Asset
Delete the dress from the scene, make G1 visible, load the dress from my library, remove the moot hing modifier.
Now, when I drag the new slider to the right, the result is (pic 2) and dragging left results in (pic 3). Everything, every time..
What am I missing?
Clothes didn't fitI don't have that particular clothing set but there may be something similar in my library, I'll see if I can do a screen capture video of the process. Once you have the clothing fitting the figure nicely you could save the morph. Once you have things set up (perhaps saved as a scene file) it wouldn't take much time at all to do custom fits for other figures as needed.
Poke Throughstry applying a smoothing modifier to the clothing with collision set to the figure, usually works for me. if that doesn't work, then maybe a push modifier and increase the thinckness of the fabric.
How do you increase the thickness of the fabric? Actually, the "Enble Smoothing" option in the clothing is turned on or are you referring to something else? I also tried, increasing the "Expand All" morph in the clothing to a value of about 10 which seemed to help a little. Also, I'm not sure if this makes a difference but I have applied https://www.daz3d.com/fit-control-for-genesis-3-female-s to the figure.
Thanks for the help!
The Things Which Could Be Worse Need Cats To Make Them Better Complaint ThreadComplaint: Arghhhh..., snow!
I didn't go out driving to do my chores yesterday. I should have because this morning I woke up to 3 inches of snow on the ground, the roads all slushy, still snowing and 9 to 10 inches predicted. Arghhhh. I need to get groceries, go to the post office and take the garbage to the transfer station. I guess I could walk to the first two if absolutely necessary and if I tie the full garbage bag closed it should keep for a few days. Non-complaint: It's snowing outside and the the first snow always looks so pretty. I've got peach brandy, I've got vodka, I've got lemonaid, I've got hot chocolate. I've got milk and cereal. I've got oatmeal and lots of frozen hamburg & ham and shrimp and I've got potatoes and bread. Not many canned goods but at least I won't starve 'till the weather breaks and the roads get plowed.
Or "ploughed" for those of you who still insist on using three letters where one will do.
I've been considering starting a "Ban the OUGH" organization.
Tell us again WHY you left Florida? It hasn't gotten any colder here, and we didn't start getting snow. I'm confused!
And don't tell us you "missed having four seasons". We have seasons; you just have to stop and breathe once in awhile. And the only people who say that are the ones who left Florida and now they're trying to justify their decision.
I agree, we should ban the OUGH's. And "colour" and "cheque", and "programme" too, while we're at it! (apologies to KK)
I mean, really, next they'll be trying to make us spell it "doughnut" instead of its rightful and proper way, "donut!" LOL

You speak your language and let others speak their own language please. I have never heard of a plow, I do know what a plough is,and a ploughshare, am happy during the bad weather when I see the showploughs clearing the mountain roads.
Do tell me, what do you have against Ploughs, when you allow tough rough, cough, bough, dough, that's only the little words though, although we mustn't forget borough, thorough, hiccough. and so forth. If that's not enough where would you be without your sourdough to make artisan bread products. Have you had a breakthrough yet? am I convincing you.
Says she, munching happily on a jam and cream doughnut, thankyou for reminding me I had some. They go nicely after a nice ploughman's lunch
You're absolutely right! We'll have to start using tuff, ruff, hack up a loogie (not lougey), branch, raw bread putty, neighborhood um, community, and throatal fibrilation. But that last one needs some work.
But I totally understand your stance. So if we have to keep "ough", then can we at least go "all in?"
For example:
"Doughnought"?
"Hellough!"
"Goughd Daye"
"Gought Night"
"Craeyouns"
"Newspapours"
"Goughing Onlighne"
"Maeking Suppour"
Hey, with some creativity, we could create a whole new language here.

Well played Chohole! Brava!
Such is the debate I must endure far too often. As a Canuck transplant into the US... SW... Arizona even (spoken in my best Snagglepuss voice [with accent]), My (apparently) thick Canadian accent offends peoples' sensibilities. To hear them, you'd think I was Sean Connery (I wish) or Scotty from Star Trek. I'd have been lynched but for the grace of Bill Gates' magical spelling gadget. I cannot remember how many times I'd get lambasted by my editor for the atrocious spelling I posessed. At which time I had to remind her that the entire reason she'd hired me in the first place was that I fluently spoke "The Queen's English" and not some devolved jabber that was unintelligible out-of-state. Though, I have to admit. England (and by extension Great Britain) aren't much better with local dialects and accents.
I also must, sadly, admit that: "Stay where ye'r to, bye and I'll come where ye'r at." is a purely Canadian (Newfoundland) invention.
@ Subtropic Pixel - If one has a jelly doughnought, then one has a plate full of preserves.
Although I now reside in Wales I grew up not too far from London, my Father was a civil servant and thus middle class, mother was a wee bit posher still, or so my maternal grandmother felt. So I grew up speaking English with ( as Daddy insisted) no accent at all. In fact a Canadian friend (from Quebec) once heard me speak on the radio and said I had what he called "A generic English accent". I consider myself British rather than English, with plenty of celtic genes from both sides and a Welsh surname from marriage, but do speak the Queen's english. I do get annoyed when the spellchecker argues with my perfectly correct spelling.
Does anyone make a plugin or such that will let you decided which languages' spelling you want to use?
That's a good question. I wonder if using the translator app would work? Probably not.

Poke ThroughsA Smoothing Modifier may help. Or an expansion morph if the clothing has one.

Released - Andrea for Genesis 8 Female (Commercial)VW,
Was the facial asymmetry designed in or morphed? I'm asking because I just noticed it. It's subtle but there. :) Please tell me I'm not seeing things!
Scott
Scott, I didn't add asymetry on purpose; but I used photos of a real person as a base for the custom morphs. Later, in a 2nd step, I blended the custom morph with DAZ Head morphs to adjust a few things. If there is some asymetry in the face, it comes naturally from the model that I used as a reference for the custom morphs or from DAZ morphs.
Correction: I only added some asymetry on purpose to the face expressions.
a little help with neck size?If I recall, if you have body morphs bought, there should be a neck morph slider.
G3 females HANDSBut are there custom morphs applied that you haven't saved as assets - File>Save As>Support Assets>Morph Asset?
Nope! Everything saved as usual.
My turn, anyone know the model used by SWAM in Leni Hair promoI don't ever ask for things like this, but I am really captivated by the character in this promo, especially the face morph.
The credits state that P3D Danny was used, but the face is not Danny, texture maybe, but not the face. If anyone has a line to SWAM I would love to know if this character is in the store or the settings used to reproduce her.
[Released] RSSY Clothing Converter from Genesis to Genesis 8 Female [Commercial]
RiverSoft Art and Sickleyield are proud to present the RSSY Clothing Converter from Genesis to Genesis 8 Female! Finally, use your Genesis clothing with your Genesis 8 Female characters! Automatically convert your entire wardrobe of clothes, including high-heels, using the new RSSY Clothing Converter script! The RSSY Clothing Converter from Genesis to Genesis 8 Female has been carefully crafted to handle the different rigging and shapes between Genesis and Genesis 8 Female, even adding special rigs for loincloths, capes and a special dress/tunic rig that adds pose bones to avoid that "sticking to the legs" effect. The Clothing Converter script provides batch execution for automatically converting your Genesis clothing to Genesis 8 Female clothing in your Library. Easily select the wardrobe items in your Library, select an output directory and execute the script. Even better, icons and categories are copied from your Genesis clothing to the new Genesis 8 Female clothing items.
Your new Genesis 8 Female wardrobe is completely Smart Content aware! They will show up when you select a Genesis 8 Female. Plus, all materials shown in Smart Content for your Genesis item will show for your converted Genesis 8 Female item. Converted clothing, instead of using Auto-Fit, produces vastly less distorted results, especially with high-heels!
The Clothing Converter script does not work with accessories or wearables (e.g., outfits). High-heeled shoes may require a manual step during conversion if the original shoes do not include a foot pose.
The script may not be able to convert all clothing items without issues. Converted items may exhibit poke through. Usually, this can be fixed by adding a smoothing modifier or a push modifier.

How to convert Footwear with Clothing Converter
Important Fix (11/30/2018)
There is an error in the script, which affects both the female and male versions of the product. The transfer rigging-figure space step is not happening in the script (except for footwear). Fixing this DRAMATICALLY improves gloves, bodysuits, anything on the extremities of the figures. The reason why it's noticable for males compared to the females product is that G8 male has large shoulders and arms, placed higher up, than Genesis. The shape difference with the arms/shoulders of G8 Female is substantially less. Please copy the attached RSGenesisClothingConversionFunctions.dse below to Data/RiverSoft Art/Common directory. There will be an official patch from Daz; this is for immediate use. You will need to reconvert shirts with arms, gloves, and bodysuits. I apologize for the error.
