    I really like Content Catalog for Windows (Mac version is there too!), and it seems perfect for what I'd need, but it says "Content Catalog is an application that scans your downloaded zip files," and that gave me pause, because I have DIM set up to automatically delete packages after the install, and if I have to re-download those packages manually, it would be over 5000 products (maybe about 4000 if I exclude stuff I don't have installed), that's a loooot of extra work for nearly some $18. Unless I'm missing some obvious solution? (It's early, and I've been awake since 2am, so my brain is slower than a GTX 1060).

    I also cheered that MetaMixer is now available for Genesis 9, buuuut... I have used the previous MetaMixer maybe once while buying add-on figures for it for a while, so while it's neat, it seems that I might not need it. And this one doesn't specify, if you have to keep buying addons too for more mixing options or you can use any figures you have, which also gives me a pause. But even if I'm not getting it, it's still nice to see it in the store. I'm sure there are many users who used the old version regularly.

    Thank you very much for your valuable insights into these products.

    Content Catalog for Windows is a must for me.

    I were also surprised on the release of new MetaMixer. It is very nice, but usability for me at the moment is very limited.

    Have to try the old version of MetaMixer, to see, how it works for me now.

    As a Dazoholic, I have already purchased 25 previous MetaMixer products.

    Yes, as long as you have the textures well aligned as much as possible based on the UV templates in image editor.

    Altanatively, if you have these products:
    https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-9-genesis-3-8-and-81-female
    https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-9-genesis-3-8-and-81-male

    ...you can easily convert the texture maps by using Surface pane > Map Transfer, with G8 eyes UV Sets on G9 eyes node.

    the g9 uv to 8.1, is there any down side to going this route, it uses geoshells so i though that would make the model more heavy?

    They use geografts... not geoshells.  In your case, actually you would just adopt the UV Sets from the products for texture map convertions...rather than use the geografts to apply G8 texture maps.

    Anyway, since you don't have the products, you don't have to buy them, using image editor will do.  That was just a reminder from me~~

    using the plugin you mentioned i atempted this but when i compared the same face textures betweent g8.1 with g9 uvs and g9 with the same character and textures the textures were a bit distorted or not exactly aligned as they were on a g9 model with g9 uvs

    edit: I had seams showing too and some spots were just transparent like there was no texture, i followed the instructions, I think im going to wait and come back to this then ask for help on the g9 uv for g8.1 thread

    It works well on my side. Show the issues if you cannot get it fixed ~

    Or, go for the way of rigging which is the best way so far ~ You can benefit every strong points from G9 eyeballs.

    I will look into the rigging, that sounds more like what I would want to do

    Would there still be interest in a G9 eye UV for Genesis 8 figures? I appreciate there are some alternatives as mentioned earlier in this thread, but they all require some work on the artists part to get working.

    The intent of my product (if there's enough interest) would be as simple as applying a G9 eye preset to Genesis 8. Obviously the UV work is one part of this, but there would be other behind the scenes things happening so that material presets were compatible.

    I obviously don't want to waste valuable time creating something if it's then going to sell poorly - a guy has to pay his bills and eat after all.

    there use to be a product called snarls g9 eyes for g8 on renderhub but they took it down and stopped doing 3d stuff. so the counter argument to obscurity would be there are no other products i know of that easily do what youre talking about so you would be filling a vaccum, but again may be talking out of my ahole

    Shocked to find the store at zero. I was still able to pull my five products up in my Product Library by your name. The dishes, hatchback and the sparkles jewerly (Christmas gift) are some of my favorites.

    I hope you continue to find joy in your life and grow your art.

    Hope to see Your products at another shop, and many more new of them, too.

    I am only human (and not wealthy) so will wait for any sort of discount, even if just 30% like new, but definitely buying the Fantasy food and drinks, full price the last day if needed

    I may yet cave and pay full price payday Friday but can't promise that

    well, it seems I am too late crying

     When products are on sale in Daz, there are always many opportunities to be less than 90% off, and with coupons, it can be even lower.

    There are tokens available now at at least 50% off. Wasn't it supposed to close on September 1st? Wow, I used to only notice the Dirty Dishes and didn't pay attention to other great products. It wasn't until I bought so many things that I learned to discern the true value of a product.

    I literally had the Fantasy ones in my cart a couple days ago when I decided to buy something different sad

    I do own the other 2 sets

    not much I can do about it now, I must own more than 3 things because I have that car too, obviously cannot check now as when the store was up it showed 3 items unbought, maybe some were already gone

    Thank you for the kind comments. It would obviously be unprofessional for me to discuss other stores on Daz's forum. But I'm still a creative person and I haven't lost my commitment to storytelling. smiley

    Whew!

    Your products are among the very best... I've gotten so much fun out of your Dirty Dishes sets, and the effort you put into making the license plates customizable on the car asset you put out has made many other vehicles usable as well! The devil's in the details when it comes to storytelling, and you always nail those details.

    I look forward to seeing where this next twist on your storytelling journey's path takes you. :)

    Unfortunately, it proved to be a bit complicated and longwinded. So I abandoned that idea.

  • [Released] Turbo Loader for Genesis 9 [Commercial]

    PoshTentacle said:

    So after an extensive amount of debugging done with 3 different AI chat bots (no, I don't use I for my art - just tech problems), I finally found the issue. Essentially, Turbo Loader had somehow cause my JP Sandor figures to point to the wrong URL. JP Sandor actually has two .dsf files: the one in the old standard definition folder for the character and the one in the newer HD folder ("JP Sandor" and "JP Sandor HD" respectively). Both of those .dsf files are still called "JP Sandor HD," though. So I guess when Turbo Loader reset my morphs, it changed the URL of that .dsf file. Anyway, after uncompressing all my scene files using the Batch Convert pane in Daz Studio, I ran the following script (I saved this as a .dsa file and then opened that file in Daz Studio) to edit each of the .duf files to update the bad URL to the correct one:

    // DAZ Studio version 4.24.0.4 filetype DAZ Script

    // JP Sandor HD URL Repair Script
    // Top-level folder only. No subfolders. URL replacement only.

    var ROOT_FOLDER = "C:/SCENE_FOLDER_PLACEHOLDER"; // replace with your folder containing scenes

    var BAD_URL = "/data/Daz%203D/Genesis%209/Base/Morphs/Jepe/JP%20Sandor/JP%20Sandor%20HD.dsf#JP%20Sandor%20HD";
    var GOOD_URL = "/data/Daz%203D/Genesis%209/Base/Morphs/Jepe/JP%20Sandor%20HD/JP%20Sandor%20HD.dsf#JP%20Sandor%20HD-0xa95d2eb";

    var scannedFiles = 0;
    var changedFiles = 0;
    var failedFiles = 0;

    function makeBackup(path)
    {
    	var backupPath = path + ".bak";
    	var src = new DzFile(path);

    	if (!src.copy(backupPath))

    		return false;
    	}

    	return true;

    );

    Obviously, if someone came across this error in the future, they would have to find the bad/good URLs for their individual morph, but I thought I would post this here just in case someone found it useful

    Thanks. I just had the same issue with the same character morphs, which have given me other issues too. I probably would have hit my wit's end with Daz and quit my project if you didn't post this. Drop thousands of dollars a year to get constant bugs and lack of support lol.

    Glad to hear it could help! But yea, the thing about Daz is that unless an asset comes from "Daz Originals," the asset doesn't seem to be supported by the company since someone else created the asset and uploaded it. At least with the Daz Originals ones, Daz seems to be part of the process and thus able to provide support. But don't be too hard on RiverSoft Art. As you can see by scrolling up, they tried their best to help me fix this obscure issue.

    Oops, I made a boo-boo if my comment read as being aimed at any individual. I was just salty whining about non-response from official channels. RiverSoft makes great products and seems nice!! I don't want to cloud this discussion with non-relevant info but just wanted to clarify that! :)

    I really love that your products always take into account how they look at different stages—this is a huge help for creating stories. Whether jewelry or food, they’re all irreplaceable high-quality products. Looking forward to seeing “Dirty Dishes” themed around the cuisines of various countries. I think I can find where you are just by searching your name, right?

    I like this Wuxia series of products. Although the imprint is quite small, I look forward to using products that can be applied to the whole body. It would be fantastic if it had patterns on the backs and arms of creatures like the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, and Qilin, along with a glowing effect.

    Thanks for the support! I have been watching a lot of wuxias, so I was in the mood for products inspired by that theme. By patterns on the back and arms, do you mean tattoos?

    I’m very glad you also like wuxia. Yes, but it’s not just tattoos—many wuxia characters have tattoos on their bodies. Moreover, similar designs are also quite common in modern xianxia works, though more elegant. Besides the forehead, they are frequently seen on the back, chest, arms, and the backs of the hands. Looking forward to your next work!

  • How did you discover Daz/Poser?

    How did I discover DAZ?

    Hmmm..., in my spare time at work I'd been creating wire frame 3D objects & animation on two government mini-computers with 16KB of core memory and Tektronix vector graphic displays back in the mid '70s in the Launch Control Center at the Kennedy Space Center, but never thought I'd have a computer at home that could do it.  Twenty years later (late '90s) I finally broke down and bought a PC for home (other than the pathetic HP Win95 laptop forced on me by the company I worked for at the time).  My spiffy new home desktop was another HP (I was working for a UNIX oriented, HP "big iron", consulting company at the time) and my new machine had the new Win98 system on it. Wheee...!  I used it to play Myst, and that got me interested again in 3D work because now the "hidden line problem" had been long solved and possible on smaller computers.  At that time around the Washington DC area it was common that a few times a year there would be big gatherings of software & hardware vendors displaying old & new products in a flea market environment, sometimes in a tent.  At one of these events I found an early version of Poser.  I upgraded though Poser a couple of times but about Poser5 I attended one of those sales events and found a copy of RayDream Studio for $100 and started playing with that.  That product eventually turned into Carrara (later picked up by DAZ).  Meanwhile I started hearing about models available from DAZ that would work in Poser around 2001 or so.  My earliest purchases from DAZ were Michael2 and the Barbarian gear for him.  But now I can't even find either one them in DAZ's Product Library list identifying all the things I'd bought.  I started collecting DAZ's models, and then DAZ started marketing (for free) its own 3D modeling software DAZ Studio.  I collected the early alpha and beta versions before version 1.0 (still have them).  And I've collected every version since then.  I don't do much modeling anymore.  I got what I wanted out of it, but it was fun along the way and I have a large but not obsessive library of models up through Michael8 and various landscapes, buildings, & miscellaneous objects.yes
