Headshop 11 crashes: "Daz model not found"
Every time I try Headshop, it ends in a "Daz model not found" error and a fatal crash.
Possibly-relevant information:
- Daz is installed in the default C:\Program Files folder.
- My Daz library is on a secondary data drive.
- The product library page shows a link for DIM installation, but Headshop doesn't appear in my DIM.
- I install Headshop via the manual installer, using default settings.
This post recommends loading the figure from DAZConnet and/or saving the model as a scene. I've tried both, but the error persists.
Here's what I do:
- Launch Daz.
- From Smart Content, load Genesis 2 Base Female.
- Edit > Start Headshop.
- The Surface and Geometry lists don't appear, so I check View/Change Figure Settings to make them appear.
- Surface Selection is correct (Face and Lips), but Geometry to Morph is incorrect (head, lEye, rEye), so I uncheck lEye and rEye.
- Click Accept; Headshop launches.
- Close the Start Learning dialog.
- On the Create New Project dialog, blick the Browse area and select a photo.
- The photo loads with keypoints correctly identified, but immediately a dialog appears: "Headshop / Daz model not found".
- Click OK on that dialog.
- Click Apply on the Create New Project dialog.
The following error dialog appears, titled Microsoft.NET Framework:
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: fileName.
Then there's a lengthy Detials section.
Is there a way to resolve this? I don't usually return products for a refund, but so far this one is frustrating...and I haven't even gotten to use it yet.
clothingThere are a couple of items like this - either as they come, or morph sets for an existing item. You could also do it, for some items, using dForce in Daz studio.
Headshop 11 ProblemsThe head morph is sliding the head down the neck when applied , this is causing the creasing. Why is this happening ?
What accuracy should I expect from GenX?Your V4 character may have a morph on the eyeball; be sure to check that.
Looking for exact perfected flats pumps for G3/8FI am looking for just the EXACT perfected flats for Genesis 3/8F. Most of which are for V4 and some for G2F, but unfortunately, because some of which is old and outdated over the years, it has not been up to date with Genesis 3/8 standards. I did found something "Teen Kitty Outfit" for Genesis 8, but unfortunately, the flats doesent have a 'heel', even with a morph isn't gonna look right. I also found a "skinny outfit" for Genesis, but again, old and outdated, not able to fit Genesis 3/8 standards.
I did have images to put together to give ideas how a exact flat should look like (see attachments). I was hoping anyone can make it or find it....free or payware. (I didn't wanna upload pics of flats being worned on just to give the idea, out of conciern of violating the forums' guidelines)
Import .obj from Blender with proper origen and axis?Is there a totorial explaining how to transfer a model from Blender to Daz Studio via .obj format and have the Blender defined object origen be the pivot points for rotation in Daz Studio?
And also get the axis translation right?
How migrate a custom character from Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Female?thanks Nicstt, going to try that.
The textures are simple, just transfer them; you could save a material preset of the G3, then apply it to G8. The morphs are fairly straightforward but takes a few minutes; it involves using the transfer utility and creating a morph from the G3 character on a G8 obj fitted to G3; there is a tutorial I believe.
how to remove controller morphs from shaping presetThe new or changed Properties only gets saved in the current scene file. If you want to have them available on the figure by default when you load it from the library you have to save a Morph Asset.
This can be found under File>Save As>Support Assets>Morph Asset.
Aiko7 Errors when I am using G8F?OK, thanks for the help!
I removed the Aiko7 directory and all is well again! No errors. I did not really need the morph in G8F, it was just a test.
What accuracy should I expect from GenX?The Genesis character should be almost indistinguishable from the V4 character.
Good to know.
Make sure that EVERY morph used in the original character is transfered. So if ANY of the morphs belonging to Aiko, the Girl, etc were used in making the original, or are required for the original, then they have to be included in the transfer.
As far as I can tell, the only morphs used in the character are morphs++, base and muscle. I am going to examine it more closely again this weekend to see if I uncover something else. As far as the dial values are concerned, I think I used the "get from selected figure" option or something like that.
Your V4 figure appears to be looking upwards. Are you using the exact same focal length lens on both cameras? And the exact same camera position? If not, it will change the perspective and the faces won't look the same.
Yep, exact same camera position. The eyes looking up is a slight difference that resulted from the transfer (or just a difference in default eye rotation. Either way, not concerned). The overall shape of the eyes are different however. When I open the two images in an image viewer and flip back and forth (like an eye test), the differences are apparent.
You also have to make sure no Genesis morphs are turned on.
I used a blank Genesis figure, but I'll double check this next time. Thanks for your feedback.
You don't need to copy over all the morphs, just select "Create Single Morph" as the Mode, and then give your character as the name as the morph.
I would not say that the final transfers will be identical, but they should be very similar. Below is a transfer I did some time ago for V4 Francesca. If I remember correctly, it is V4 in the middle, and Genesis and Genesis 2 Female on either side.
What accuracy should I expect from GenX?I have seen some subtle conversion differences, as are also mentioned in the product doc(s), as mesh-matching is probably a dark-art when the meshes aren't exactly the same. Unless they're side-by-side, I'm usually hard-pressed to tell that it's not a perfect match.
I also recall seeing three conversion options in a main GenX2 screen pull-down menu (right side, half-way-down the 'Transfer' tab) that mentions 'smooth', 'edges', and 'fast'. Perhaps one of these options might help you get a closer match.
FWIW, I've used it for many V4-to-Genesis1 conversions, and it does a pretty good job, but my standards might not be as high as what you're hoping for!
cheers, and good luck!,

What accuracy should I expect from GenX?Hi, I've transfered a lot of characters using GenX. The Genesis character should be almost indistinguishable from the V4 character. Make sure that EVERY morph used in the original character is transfered. So if ANY of the morphs belonging to Aiko, the Girl, etc were used in making the original, or are required for the original, then they have to be included in the transfer.
"Transitions", like transitions in scale - are not transfereable. So if the original V4 figure had any scale changes, they'll have to be dialed in by hand on the new figure.
Your V4 figure appears to be looking upwards. Are you using the exact same focal length lens on both cameras? And the exact same camera position? If not, it will change the perspective and the faces won't look the same.
You can also try adjusting the amount of V4 which you dial in to the new character. That can have an effect. You also have to make sure no Genesis morphs are turned on.
Shape Splitter - Divide, Combine and Save (The new version is already available. 1.2.1)[Commercial]Windows 10, Studio 4.9.4.122
I don't really use Genesis 8, but I realized I do have 1 morph for character Luca, so I loaded it up, and no problem it seems to work ok and doesn't give the error. Weird...
Help identifying a couple of promo characters? (OOT and Blue Rabbit)You guys are awesome. Thank you!
It's Charlene, maybe with a little tweak in the face morph: https://www.daz3d.com/ry-charlene-hd-for-victoria-8
The model in the main promo pic for Claudia Hair is definitely Charlene, but the texture looks different from the promo pics I was refering to in my post. Not sure about the texture but the eyebrows are different. Do you recognize that one as one of your own? Huge fan of your work by the way!
Headshop 11 ProblemsI purchased head shop 11 . The morph is applying to the character in Daz Studio but there is a huge crease under the chin along the seams which is unsightly whenever it is applied. What is causing this and how do I fix it. I don't want to return the product as I feel it has potential. Help ?
Aiko7 Errors when I am using G8F?Did you use the Singular Blues script to transfer G3 characters, like Aiko 7, to G8F?
Headshop vs FaceGen - and the quest to copy "virtual characters"Facegen could produce a decent morph likeness; I've found them better when not dialled in at 100%.
The end result depends on the quality and size of images; often profile as well as face shot is better but sometimes I've found it a problem.
Patience and perseverance are both both good tools to use.
Aiko7 Errors when I am using G8F?I am loading G8F, but getting Aiko 7 errors in the log file during load? (I am using the Aiko 8 Body morph on the character in the scene)

Any thoughts?
Headshop vs FaceGen - and the quest to copy "virtual characters"Hello,
I've read the things I found about these two programs. Both shall be able to create a "character", or better said, a morph.
Most seem to use them to "copy" "real live characters", I'm more interessted in bringing "virtual characters" to DAZ. Just for the sake of the example, if i'd take https://free3d.com/3d-model/dennis-posed-004-812878.html and would render him, and then load the render as a portrait in Headshop or Facegen, or, other example, if I use a high quality artwork...
Is there a chance it would work (Textures are secondary, I'm primarily interessted in the morph), or should I kick the idea to the bin?
