Can I transfer Victoria 4 morphs to Victoria 8?This is I am talking about when I say Daz can be madly confusing for newer users when they release new generations every couple of years. They need some kind of product hierarchy guide that is easily accessible, like you cannot possibly miss it accessible. Victoria 4 models are actually 4 generations old. Its a little wacky, but Victoria 4 is considered to be generation 4. When Generation 5 came along, somebody got the brilliant idea to call their new creation "Genesis". So Genesis 1 and Victoria 5 are the same generation. Then Genesis 2 follows with Victoria 6, followed by Genesis 3 and Victoria 7. However for the latest generation 8, they brought the names in line with each other, so now you have Genesis 8 and Victoria 8. So there is no Genesis 4-7. Each different generation makes enough changes as to not be able to use each other's morphs out of the box. There are ways around this, as GenX2 can transfer shapes from V4 through Genesis 3 with the proper addons. There is no addon for Genesis 8, but Genesis 3 shapes can be manually transfered to Genesis 8.Can I transfer Victoria 4 morphs to Victoria 8?
Not directly. GenX 2 with a number of addons will allow you to port morphs as far as from V4 to V7. From V7 to V8 you need to use the transfer tool. I gather there are some tutorials out there which explain it.
Can I transfer Victoria 4 morphs to Victoria 8?
Since V8 technically requires you have Genesis 8 installed, its kind of confusing to me. Will V4 morphs work at all with V8?The reals meshes relating top the UV templates? The front and back patches of the shirt in the UV template are also called UV islands. Those have no real connection with the face groups. The shirt is just cut into pices like a real shirt would be sewed together.
However the shirt I think is a single continious mesh and not seperated into those UV islands. Since you work with Blender I test if its connected with hovering the mouse over the mesh and pressing L to see if everything gets highlighted. If you only want to select one of those UV islands do the same in Blenders UV-Image Editor hover themouse over one of those patches and press L in Face selection mode.
The rather random outline of the Face Group (vertex group) comes from the Transfer Utility process where someone had selected to 'project' the figures Face Groups in this case of the abdomen to the clothing this will most likely result in such jagging groups. It dosn't matter for rigging / conforming clothing because the weight maps are also projected and are much smoother.
Projecting the figures Face Groups to the cloth is actualy very handy because you don't have to care about creating those by hand before you convert such a static object into conforming clothing.
Corsage / corset and garterbeltI'm looking for a strapless corsage or corset, ideally with a morph included that exposes the breasts.
In addition I'm looking for a garterbelt, but I think I found a nice item:
https://www.daz3d.com/frolic-dress-set-add-ons-for-genesis-3-and-8-female-s
But maybe someone knows of an item with more variations of garterbelts.
Headshop 11 ProblemsI purchased head shop 11 . The morph is applying to the character in Daz Studio but there is a huge crease under the chin along the seams which is unsightly whenever it is applied. What is causing this and how do I fix it. I don't want to return the product as I feel it has potential. Help ?
It is an easy fix. Go to Parameters and decrease the morph precentage from 70 to maybe 40%.
What accuracy should I expect from GenX?I have seen some subtle conversion differences, as are also mentioned in the product doc(s), as mesh-matching is probably a dark-art when the meshes aren't exactly the same. Unless they're side-by-side, I'm usually hard-pressed to tell that it's not a perfect match.
I also recall seeing three conversion options in a main GenX2 screen pull-down menu (right side, half-way-down the 'Transfer' tab) that mentions 'smooth', 'edges', and 'fast'. Perhaps one of these options might help you get a closer match.
Ah yes, I remember seeing the 'smooth', 'edges' and 'fast options somewhere. I will give them a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
..and it does a pretty good job, but my standards might not be as high as what you're hoping for!
It is not so much as a matter of standards, just a matter of needs. Some characters in my library are custom OC's that others have paid for me to develop and use in commissions for them. So changes in the faces may not be appreciated.
You don't need to copy over all the morphs, just select "Create Single Morph" as the Mode, and then give your character as the name as the morph.
As I mentioned at the top, I used a single morph dial.
I would not say that the final transfers will be identical, but they should be very similar. Below is a transfer I did some time ago for V4 Francesca. If I remember correctly, it is V4 in the middle, and Genesis and Genesis 2 Female on either side.
Thank you for the examples. They are a good bench mark for me.
Shape Splitter - Divide, Combine and Save (The new version is already available. 1.2.1)[Commercial]All the ones I've tried give that error. Ironically I only wanted to separate one particular morph into a head/body but have tried many other morphs in testing and get the same error.
Headshop vs FaceGen - and the quest to copy "virtual characters"although hard to imagine that you can get a high resolution image
Idea for my workflow was the following: Optain model, i.e. Cesare Borgia from Assassins Creed for XNALara, render in last, use renders as a reference for HeadShop or FaceGen. Since I need the facial features more than original clothing and/or equipement and/or texture a Cesare Borgia Morph would be sufficiant for me.
Since the price of FaceGen or HeadShop makes a huge difference... What are the differences between both programs (Only FaceGen seems to have a Demo)?
Content Creator Toolkit? The Transfer Utility and the Morph Loaders too, plus the Joint Editor, Geometry Editor, and Node Weight Paint Brush tools and the Figure Setup and Property Hierarchy panes.
Holiday FreebiesCoolio! I was wondering is there any way to use the shirt over a pair of pants?
How hard can it be? Put pants on the character (preferably ones without elaborately modelled wrinkles, belt loops etc). Put T-shirt on the character. Dial up the BodySize morph mentioned on the tshirt item page until the pants stop poking through. Drape.
I have not tried it yet as I have not been on my computer since it got released. I am currently borrowing an old 32 bit computer for half an hour or so.

Need to replace C drive where I have Daz installed... how to transfer Daz to new drive?Hi, Daz is installed on my Main Drive, the C drive, the drive that windows is on. I have installed tons of assets, most are free assets that I found on the web and were installed manually (with me coping file contents into the daz directory.)
I want to replace my C drive with a new ssd drive. Is there any way to transfer my current daz installation onto the new drive ? The though of a fresh installation of DaZ and then trying to find/reinstall all of the assets is terribly daunting. Is there a good solution? Thanks!
Headshop 11 crashes: "Daz model not found"Every time I try Headshop, it ends in a "Daz model not found" error and a fatal crash.
Possibly-relevant information:
- Daz is installed in the default C:\Program Files folder.
- My Daz library is on a secondary data drive.
- The product library page shows a link for DIM installation, but Headshop doesn't appear in my DIM.
- I install Headshop via the manual installer, using default settings.
This post recommends loading the figure from DAZConnet and/or saving the model as a scene. I've tried both, but the error persists.
Here's what I do:
- Launch Daz.
- From Smart Content, load Genesis 2 Base Female.
- Edit > Start Headshop.
- The Surface and Geometry lists don't appear, so I check View/Change Figure Settings to make them appear.
- Surface Selection is correct (Face and Lips), but Geometry to Morph is incorrect (head, lEye, rEye), so I uncheck lEye and rEye.
- Click Accept; Headshop launches.
- Close the Start Learning dialog.
- On the Create New Project dialog, blick the Browse area and select a photo.
- The photo loads with keypoints correctly identified, but immediately a dialog appears: "Headshop / Daz model not found".
- Click OK on that dialog.
- Click Apply on the Create New Project dialog.
The following error dialog appears, titled Microsoft.NET Framework:
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: fileName.
Then there's a lengthy Detials section.
Is there a way to resolve this? I don't usually return products for a refund, but so far this one is frustrating...and I haven't even gotten to use it yet.
clothingThere are a couple of items like this - either as they come, or morph sets for an existing item. You could also do it, for some items, using dForce in Daz studio.
Headshop 11 ProblemsThe head morph is sliding the head down the neck when applied , this is causing the creasing. Why is this happening ?
What accuracy should I expect from GenX?Your V4 character may have a morph on the eyeball; be sure to check that.
Looking for exact perfected flats pumps for G3/8FI am looking for just the EXACT perfected flats for Genesis 3/8F. Most of which are for V4 and some for G2F, but unfortunately, because some of which is old and outdated over the years, it has not been up to date with Genesis 3/8 standards. I did found something "Teen Kitty Outfit" for Genesis 8, but unfortunately, the flats doesent have a 'heel', even with a morph isn't gonna look right. I also found a "skinny outfit" for Genesis, but again, old and outdated, not able to fit Genesis 3/8 standards.
I did have images to put together to give ideas how a exact flat should look like (see attachments). I was hoping anyone can make it or find it....free or payware. (I didn't wanna upload pics of flats being worned on just to give the idea, out of conciern of violating the forums' guidelines)
Import .obj from Blender with proper origen and axis?Is there a totorial explaining how to transfer a model from Blender to Daz Studio via .obj format and have the Blender defined object origen be the pivot points for rotation in Daz Studio?
And also get the axis translation right?
How migrate a custom character from Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Female?thanks Nicstt, going to try that.
The textures are simple, just transfer them; you could save a material preset of the G3, then apply it to G8. The morphs are fairly straightforward but takes a few minutes; it involves using the transfer utility and creating a morph from the G3 character on a G8 obj fitted to G3; there is a tutorial I believe.
