  • ISO: creating texture add on to make The Phantom and looking for pieces

i was going to avoid showing the ring on his hand - I've got the cutey skulls rings, buuuuut none of them would really work for it. Although from a distance, possibly yes.

Not a Poserworld member anymore, was a long time ago, but not now. The A3 holster is an idea, but it needs a wider belt piece...

Luthbel's midnight hunter, which i have, might work for the belt and belt buckle and then trying to attach a couple of holsters to it...
    http://www.daz3d.com/midnight-hunter-for-michael-4
or possibly http://www.daz3d.com/omega-huntress-x - the belt and holsters could be right, but the straps are in front instead of the side. Still, I could fudge that...

No, sorry it isn't - though I thought the Die Trying morphs were Genesis conversions of a set originally for Victoria 4. Morphs are specific to a particular 3D mesh, and won't directly work on another mesh (and if they are applied to the same mesh with a different base shape the results may not work all that well - Victoria 4 and Michael 4 are in fact the same mesh in different starting states, and morphs for one can be amde to work on the other to a point). There is a tool, Gen X, for converting older morphs to Genesis but I'm not aware of any tool to go in the opposite direction.

Richard you said : " Note that Victoria 4 and Michael 4 are different figures from Genesis, and their morphs won’t work on Genesis - their textures can be applied to Genesis"

I'm not able to apply morphs from Genesis and Victoria 5 or other (DieTrying's 182, Jabba ...) to Victoria 4 they don't appear when I'm working on Victoria 4. I only see the morphs of Victioria 4 when I'm working on Victoria 4. When I'm working on Genesis or Victoria 5, I see all the morphs from Genesis, Victoria 5 or others. Is it possible to apply morphs that are maid for Genesis or Victoria 5 to Victoria 4?

    Thank you

  • Confused and lost

Hello asylumchild2000.... If you would like to get an idea of how to make models similar to how Z brush models are made, but can't afford the $700 price tag, then you could give Sculptris a try... it has the low price of $0 and 0¢... it's not as powerful as Z brush, and you could actually make simple characters that would be rigged for posing... that will take some learning and it's not easy, but at least with Sculptris you can have a program that won't expire and will give you an idea of whether or not 3D sculpting is something you wish to get into or not.
    Sculptris:
    http://pixologic.com/sculptris/

If you are interested in picking up some of the Lingo of 3D art and modeling you can give this Glossary a peek:
    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/46/
I wrote it a while ago at the old site and will eventually update it when I get a chance, but most of the stuff is still relevant... some of the links are probably old and dead, or undead... bring a shotgun just in case, but anyway it might help a bit with some of the terms that are tossed about like dead sardine at a sea lion convention... well, it appears my ability to make sense is fading, so before I go off to shout at the squirrels in my yard, I'll leave you with these two tid bits.... tid... bits... that sounds funny when you say it out loud... anyway....
Google "Figures, Characters and Avatars- The official guide to using DAZ studio to create beautiful art" aside from possibly being the longest book title in western history since "Arthur P. Grumwald's complete guide to taxidermy and and costume creation for chipmunks that died of natural causes all for the express purpose of using their lifeless corpses to accurately recreate the battle of Gettysburg-Volume 2"... where was I?... oh yeah, besides the long title, the "Figures, characters...blah,blah,blah" book comes with a disc that has on it:
3D Starter Pack - (animals mostly)
    Aiko 4 Starter pack
    -Aiko 4 Base
    Aiko 4 Isa, Realistic Textures
    Arisu Character
    Posh Hair
    School Girl Uniform
    Attitude Poses
    Attitude Expressions
V4 Bodysuit Unimesh Fits (Requires Victoria 4 Bodysuit)
    Hiro 4 Starter Pack
    -Hiro 4 Base
    Austin Hair
    Nagase Hiro 4
Hiro 4 Bodysuit Upgrade (Requires M4 Bodysuit)
    Hiro 4 Realistic Textures
    Slicer
Michael 4 Complete ( with Morphs ++) and clothes and hair
Victoria 4 Complete (with Morphs ++) and clothes and hair
    Apartment 39
    Apartment 39 Exp
    Appliances
    Mod Furniture
    Mod Furniture 2
    Mod Furniture 3
    Mod Furniture XP
    Millenium Dog LE
    Mil Gorilla
    Millenium Horse
    Sea Dragon
    Mil Dragon 1

Plus Carrara Pro 6 and Hexagon 2

There is one problem though... actually two... First- is the nimrod who published the book messed up the serial codes for Hexagon (and possibly Carrara too) so good luck getting them to work, But you still get a lot of content for the price of the book, which should be around $20-30... The second problem is the book is like two or more years old, so it might be hard to find.
The third problem is you are possible still reading this and wondering when I'm gonna stop writing and talking so strange, well I have no idea when I'm gonna stop writing or talking strange, so sorry about that... besides you started talking about Prozac monkeys first...
It might be possible for you to submit a support ticket to DAZ to get the serial numbers... if you can show you legally purchased the book... so like if there is blood all over the receipt or the book, wipe it off before you take a picture of it and send it to DAZ... they used to except proof of purchase, but its been two years or so and DAZ isn't as cuddly as it used to be... anyway good luck with that.

Last tiddly bit... click on the "VISIT MY ShareCG FREEBIE GALLERY" under my banner image for some really strange FREE models.

    Good luck.

    Sensibility For Victoria 4
    DMs Courage Realm

Hmmm...that promo certainly doesn't do this justice. Frankly, this doesn't look like the same material to me, so someone check to see if I have the right product. It said Sensibility in DS, and none of these other links have this dress.

This dress material is very elegant IMO. It has a lot of morphs, I will have to say as a newbie I had trouble getting the bottom front to lay down when she was laying down- with a knee slightly bent. (SLIGHTLY) I know, I know, I set myself up for failure. But to do a review, I want to test poses. Let me say though, you can easily work around the slight "poof" at the end of the dress when laying down, simply with your camera angle.

And good heavens, the morphs. LOTS of morphs. The promo was right about that!

    Some related products-
    http://www.daz3d.com/sensibility-expansion
    http://www.daz3d.com/elegant-sensibility (looks gorgeous)
http://www.daz3d.com/mr-darcy-for-sensibility (And I'm glad I'm doing these reviews- I didn't know this one existed!)

So Giovana took a trip to DM's Courage Realm- she's either in a food coma or just too lazy to get up. Just look at the lighting that comes with this set, the set textures (closeups- they are wonderful) and the dress. Don't pyschoanalyze my gal laying there. You'll see what I mean about the end of the dress- but as I said, one leg is slightly raised. I really like this dress.

Let me say this- Courage Realm is what I used for Kaetl and the two dragons, simply because you can really change the look of the temple using the Y translation. You can sink most of it into the ground, hiding those skull walls- and have temple columns. And my goodness, a LOT comes with this set. What you are seeing here is the vendor's lighting (and beware if you load the scene, your lights go POOF.)

    Look at all this!

    Scott-Livingston said:
And here's a more recent effort at Poe, using David 5 mixed with Michael 4 shape and morphs from several sets. In some ways, it looks less like him than the previous image, but I think that's mostly lighting, to be honest. I'm at the frustrating place right now--that some of you are probably familiar with--where the preview window looks almost just right, but then I click Render and I'm somewhat disappointed to see that it's not quite as close to perfect as I expected. The other thing I'm struggling with is balancing realism with indentifiability--I could easily make him more recognizable, but it would mean turning my character into a caricature rather than a realistic portrait.

Of course I'm not going to be entering my own contest, but in my mind this is informally part of the competition...everyone else's excellent work is inspiring me to push myself to see what I can accomplish.

Additional image used as a secondary reference--a slightly younger Poe

...very good. Ended up with a celeb totally by accident, still need to do a bit of refinement before I post him. I'm sure he will be very recognisable.

  • Installing new content in DAZ Studio

No, you don't need the Poser Companion Files (CF) - they are for Poser users who have the DSON Importer to allow them to use Genesis in Poser 9 or later.

The templates are guides for creating your own textures, they aren't used directly in DAZ Studio. If you want to try creating textures install them to a location that is convenient for your image editor, if you aren't going to be creating your own textures you don't need the templates.

Power Loader is a tool that opens when you load an older, Poser format, figure that has a PowerLoader addon - the PowerLoader files for morph sets like the Elite shapes allow fine control (without the PowerLoader files the morphs will be listed by their product code only, and you won't be able to include or exclude individual morphs but only the set as a whole). Note that Victoria 4 and Michael 4 are different figures from Genesis, and their morphs won't work on Genesis - their textures can be applied to Genesis, and their clothes can be converted to Genesis with the AutoFit tool that is included with DAZ Studio (it should pop-up when you try to fit older clothing to Genesis).

For the older figures, when you see

    7403_4_dpc_V4EliteBodyShapes.exe
    7403_5_ds_V4EliteBodyShapes.exe
    7403_dpc_V4EliteShapesPwrLoader.exe

for a morph set, the dpc file is the actual morph set, the ds file is an optional extra (Puppeteer presets) and the Power Loader files we looked at above.

INJ poses will appear in the Pose library, under Poser Formats. In some cases they will load new morphs, in some cases they will set the existing morphs. Unfortunately different people use them in different ways, and as a result it isn't safe to give any absolute rules about how they will work or what they will do.

An OBJ is a plain 3D model, with very limited material settings and no rigging (it is a static prop, not a figure) if it's on its own. You can use File>Import to bring an OBJ into DAZ Studio. Note, however, that OBJ is also used by Poser-format content for the geometry of the model (in that case the OBJ will usually be somewhere in \Runtime\Geometries and will be accompanied by a CR2, PP2 or HR2 file that will be accessible in DAZ Studio under Poser Formats>Figures, Poser Formats>Props or Poser Formats>Hair).

  • Installing new content in DAZ Studio

Hi, I am a newbie and my first language is not English.
I understand English well but don’t write it well.
    I’m a PC user and I have Win 7 64 bits.
I have DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro. 64 bits and Genesis Starter Essentials
DAZ Studio is installed in: D:\utils\daz64\
Genesis Starter Essentials is installed in: D:\utils\dazcontent\
All new figures, new morphs and everything else downloaded are installed in: D:\utils\dazcontent\
I did not install anything else in the C:\ drive, my C:\ is for my win 7 OS only.
    I don’t have Poser
I have installed Victoria 5 base

These are the files that are in the product library that I can download.

    13439_Victoria5Legacy_1.1_trx.exe
    13439_Victoria5Legacy_1.1_trx.zip
    13439_Victoria5PoserCF_1.1_dpc.exe
    13439_Victoria5PoserCF_1.1_dpc.zip
    13439_Victoria5_1.1_trx.exe
    13439_Victoria5_1.1_trx.zip

I know that zip files are for Mac users, so I don’t need them.
I know that exe files are for PC
Do I need the PoserCFdpc.exe files? Are they for DAZ Studio and Poser, or for Poser only ?

I have downloaded a zip files: templates_13439_victoria5.zip from the Victoria 5 Product Store Page, under the Resource Files > Other Files > Texture Templates.
This is the link to this file: www.daz3d.com/downloadable/download/sample/sample_id/311272/

The files that are in the zip files are:

    Victoria5_1_Face.png
    Victoria5_1_Face_SeamGuide.png
    Victoria5_2_Torso.png

and 13 mores of the same type.

When I open the file Victoria5_1_Face.png, I get a wireframe of a face.
What is the use of these files?
    Do I need them?
If so, where do I copy them? (The complete path)

I’ve purchased I have buy Victoria 4 3D Model Pro Suite.

Is there an order These files should be installed in ?

    3170_V4SkinMapsHRDSMetaData_1.1_ds.exe
    3170_V4SkinMapsHRDS_1.1_ds.exe
    3170_V4SkinMapsHR_1.1_dpc.exe

    3922_V4SkinMapsStd_1.0_dpc.exe
    3922_V4SkinMapsStd_1.0_dpc.zip

It also have the template file: https://www.daz3d.com/downloadable/download/sample/sample_id/311271/
Many products that I bought from DAZ 3D have these extra resources files from there Resource Files tab of there Product Store Page.

Some of these files downloaded from Product Store Page are with exe extension and have and installer which ask me the path where to install. Like the path of this file for Hampton Hair: www.daz3d.com/downloadable/download/sample/sample_id/302955/
    I chose : D:\utils\dazcontent\
Did I choose the right path?

I have V4 Elite Body Shapes but I didn’t install it.

These are the files in the Product Library:

    7403_4_dpc_V4EliteBodyShapes.exe
    7403_5_ds_V4EliteBodyShapes.exe
    7403_dpc_V4EliteShapesPwrLoader.exe

Do I need all of these files.
If so, in what order should I install them.

    This file: 7403_dpc_V4EliteShapesPwrLoader.exe

it’s supposed to be for a power loader.

    What is a power loader?

I also have some products that I bought from DAZ 3D:

Michael 4 3D Model Pro Suite

    Also Some Freebies:
    EmotiGuy
    aniMate Monster Pack Sampler
    Anime Star Fighter

There are a lot of files to install.

And, I have free stuff that I downloaded for DAZ Studio from other website:

    In these they have

    inject files
    Obj files

What can I do with these files in DAZ Studio?

What I want to know is how to properly install all of these files, figures, and any stuff that can I install in DAZ Studio.

I want to buy some content for DAZ Studio and want to install it properly.

    Thank you

  • Genesis Custom-Dialed Character Contest (WIP/Discussion thread - now with results posted!)

Well, I decided not to enter anything because this is a Genesis-focused contest and I can't get DS4 to run on my computer. But I love dialing character -- it's just fun -- and I was reminded that I hadn't yet used the Creature Creator V4M4 Bundle I'd acquired for $1.99 as part of a past Plat Club March Madness deal. Seems a shame to buy all this stuff and then not use it!

So I made a mermaid. I wanted to elongate her body and neck more than I did, but there are limits to scaling along the Y-Axis, especially in the chest area. I'm including a few test renders because the actual image obscures most of her skin detailing, which is too bad because it took me a while to get it to look right. By habit, nearly all my images are cropped with book covers in mind...whether I ever intend them for covers or not. By now, I think it's just reflex.

The inspiration for the character's name is pretty obvious. :)

  • How to Install Daz3D Content into Poser Pro 2014

I finally got it to install!!!

I created a folder called Extra Poser and created a Runtime Folder in my Extra Poser then put the dummy Poser.exe file outside of the Runtime Folder. That worked!

My next question is, it shows up in my library as another Runtime folder. I would like to keep my files clean and organized. I notice if I change the folder name of the Runtime to Michael 4 the content then disappears. Is there a way I can change the name of the folder or create a folder and drag that runtime of my Michael content into the new created folder?

  • Genesis Custom-Dialed Character Contest (WIP/Discussion thread - now with results posted!)

  • How to Install Daz3D Content into Poser Pro 2014

Also, how come the Install Zip from Archive Tab in the Content Room said it installed successfully but it didn't show up in the downloads folder. I even refreshed it. I first installed Michael 4 Base that way. It said it installed successfully but it isn't there. That's why I am trying this method.

  • How to Install Daz3D Content into Poser Pro 2014

Okay, are you trying to install using installers or zip files? If you're using installers, make sure you install Michael 4 Base first. I'd also advise against using !DAZ as the folder name -- not sure if Poser will get confused by that. Alternatively, use the Install Manager and it will handle most of that stuff.

  • How to Install Daz3D Content into Poser Pro 2014

If anyone can help, that would be great! Thanks in advance.

I just got Poser Pro 2014. It runs great! I have Windows 7 64 Bit on an Acer Laptop, AMD Turion64, 1GB Ram with a Radeon Express 1100. It runs fine even though this laptop has aged. I keep it well maintained.

The reason I wanted Poser Pro 2014 so much was the new features. I downloaded the Daz3D Michael 4 Ultra Bundle from Daz3D. I zipped the file with JZip. I used the Install from Zip Archive Tab in Poser Pro 2014. It said it installed successfully. I went to the Downloads section in the Library and hit refresh. None of the content showed up?

I then tried a 2nd method by following this tutorial by Smith Micro
    https://support.smithmicro.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2257/~/installing-daz-content-into-poser-for-windows

When I had Poser Pro 2012 this method worked great. But using this method is not working for me in Poser Pro 2014? I even copied the steps I took in 2012 to 2014 and I am totally at wits end trying to figure this out??? I'm stuck! Someone please help! Thank you!

  • Animation - aniMate - Is This A Bug?

    Lord_Ashes said:
It seems that this post has somewhat diverted to solving my animation problem as opposed to discussing the actual problem that I was trying to identify:

I occasionally had problems setting a y translation in a key frame. I would set it, go to a different frame, return back to the key frame in which I set it and it would not be applied anymore.

If I understand you correctly you want to edit an aniBlock? If you want to do that you need to set it to a different level.
To do that, leftclick on the aniBlock. It will turn from blue to grey and the name of the aniBlock is replaced with the text "Double click for keyframes".

Either do that or click on the "Go into Keyframe mode" icon, which is located left of the "Speed" setting box (where it says "100%").

Right of the Keyframe mode icon there is the Keyframe Level selector (a dropdown list). Set this from "Base" to a different level.

If you now edit translation/rotation/etc. parameters, it won't revert anymore and keep that values.

Keep in mind that after you finished your edits and saved your edited aniBlock, you'll have to set the Level back to "Base" or it will stay at that level you've chosen. It won't reset to "Base" automatically.

If you're looking for premade stairwalk animations, ANYMATTER of shareCG has already done some very nice aniBlocks. They are contained in his animated poses collection:
    (http://www.sharecg.com/v/64032/gallery/11/Poser/100++-animated-poses-for-poser-daz3d)
You may need to edit the starting points, cause they're a little bit off. But that's only a few minutes work if you know what you're doing.
The "walking on stairs aniblocks.rar" inside the "walkcycle" directory. They were created for Victoria/Michael 4 but will work for Genesis, too if you correct the foot and hip offsets or use this (http://www.sharecg.com/v/67223/view/21/DAZ-Studio/Genesis-Pose-Adjust-aniBlock) on a Sub-track.

  • DAZ 3D 4.6 To Carrarra 8.0.1.45

    HI DeadCode3

You can only load files from Daz Studio 4.6,. into the "Beta" version of Carrara 8.5

Carrara 8.1 will work with Poser format figures like Victoria 4, Michael 4 and previous Daz3D Figures, but not Genesis.

Poser 9, or 2012 needs the "DSON importer for Poser" installed, ..to use Genesis.

If you have Carrara 8. then you should also have the current beta version in your Account.
that will open a Studio 4.6 scene, but the beta also allows you to load and use Genesis, from the browser in carrara.
and it's still better to load the figure directly,. rather than export / import.

You can also save Poses,Characters, Materials as "presets" from Studio 4.6,. and Carrara will read those files.
so you could load Genesis,. from the browser in Carrara,. then apply your Character, Pose, Material,... etc

The 8.5 beta has a "Smart content" tab as well as the standard Content tab, for poser type Runtime'a and DS's My Library folders.

    Hope that makes sense
