What happened to Angel Wings?
Last I read in their thread (before it vanished), DAZ wouldn't approve their latest creation, probably because they have such a taboo against child characters and what certain folks might do with them. Not much point being here if the store won't sell your stuff.
Pretty sure they came here specifically because people had been requesting they do an HD add-on for their charcters, like how you can get HD for Victoria 7 & 8, which is a DAZ store exclusive thing. I don't know what the HD addons provide because I've never bothered with them, but I think that's what they wouldn't allow.

It has very little to do with system specifications, it's just that when there are a lot of property links (it has nothing to do with whether they are morphs) it gets progressively slower. The system has worked well for Genesis, Genesis 2, and Genesis 3, but Genesis 8 - perhaps due to a mixture of its longer life giving it more proeprties and people getting more ambitious in what they want to achieve when setting them up - has exposed its limitations. It is/was a good design, it gave the flexibility of the old ExP system without having to run an updater (and as I recall Victoria 4 wasn't without its load-time issues by the end). I'm sure daz is looking at the issue, but we need to be aware that there are competing pressures - load/close time is one issue, but people want an easy and flexible way to add characters and morph packs too; reconciling those is extremely non-trivial, however it may look to those with experience in other fields.
For me, we're reaching a point where the flexibility of the systems don't justify the load/close times any more. Maybe my personal workflow is highly atypical, but I'm not using character-specific sliders to customize characters very often--I'm sure some percentage of users do this constantly. The frequency of complaints about load times leads me to believe that the cost/benefit ratio no longer favors having every character or morph pack I own available as a (probably unused) slider.
If you use Connect you can of course install and unisntall inside DS - and if you haveuninstalled a character or morph set that you need when opening a scene or applying a preset DS will let you know and ofer to install it (for Daz store content).

Star Trek Builders Unite 8: THE REBOOTWhy not just keep using Oso's? They look pretty good!
There are several whisker props for sale at DAZ and free at ShareCG and Rosity. The ones for sale are mostly dForce, so DAZ Studio only, unless you want to convert them. Here's some free kitty props at ShareCG:
https://sharecg.com/v/98187/browse/21/DAZ-Studio/Lolo-Kitty-for-Lolo-Hai
I converted the whiskers to Poser; Melody is wearing them in the attached image.
For Poser users, there's this:
https://www.daz3d.com/catgirl-for-aiko-4-and-victoria-4
Made for V4, but I imagine they'd work with Aiko or any other figure. You'd just have to pose them manually.
Daio's texture pack also comes with with bump maps and cat pads. However, it's a really old product, and you'll probably have to adjust the settings, for Poser or DS.
There used to be free whiskers for Melody at RDNA, but so far as I know, they're not available any more.

Sadly, nothing you are saying here is new and, even more sadly, is the fact that nothing is likely to change. The DAZ studio team seems to be working under the assumption that the user base is constantly upgrading to more powerful computers and faster graphic cards, so there's no reason to make provisions for older systems, and this accelerated through the roof when Iray became the default renderer. That said, one of he biggest single issue with loading is that with Genesis ALL of the morphs that the user has installed have to load up every time before it can go any further... and since any facial expression that has a parameter dial is at least partially a morph, just getting rid of all of the ones except for a core base of the ones that you actually use will usually give your load ins a major kick in the pants.

Star Trek Builders Unite 8: THE REBOOTAh, the "Fisher Cat" is probably my favorite of the texture set because compared to the rest, it's the most "realistic", having all sorts of subtle tones and shading. the others are more "toonish". I used it as the basis for an OC I created in 1985, a character meant for a cyberpunk narrative (that I never really developed beyond a few vague notions).

Daio's "Cattitude" is a nice set based upon photographs she snapped of her favorite cat, Mimi. Indeed, this was a revision of an older set she created, but it didn't date to Victoria version 1. Rather, that package, called "Felis Sapiens" was meant for Victoria 3 and Michael 3. As such Aiko 3 could sport the "pelts" without modification. Knowing that, I used them upon my A3 based M'Ress. Really, the only thing Daio had to change for the "Cattitude" verion were the head textures to map correctly to melody. Oh, and she added a pattern that would apply to the tail.
GEN 8 shape to 8.1Damn either I have gotten brilliant at daz or the 8.1 Victoria skin is amazing, I am shocked at how good it is, I have always viewed Victoria as generic and average but this skin is just so good. The promo images really do not do it justice, for essentially a test shot with a simple light slapped in the scene this is making me wonder why i waited so long to try 8.1.
DAZ AddictionHi, my name is Brent and I'm a DAZ addict.
I first downloaded DAZ in the winter of 2018. At first, I didn't like it. In fact, you might even say I hated it.
I then thought I'd grow to like it if I bought a digital character. So I did. I still didn't like it, but I kept double-clicking on the DAZ Studio icon, loading my new Victoria 4 charcter, and after a while, it started to grow on my.
You might say, DAZ is an aquired taste.
I started buying more things from the DAZ store, but soon, I started running out of money. I posted in online forums begging for DAZ gift cards. I even went on to social media with a video of me sitting in front of my computer saying, "Will work for DAZ credits."
Late at night, I'd get up, sneak in to the other room, shut the door and run DAZ Studio. I'd render until I couldn't see any more. Caffien was of no use. I'd just passout in my chair only to be woken by the flicker of the monitor when my render would complete.
I realized I had hit bottom one night when I went searching for pirated DAZ items. I was so desperate I'd download lousy "free" assets only to discover they'd give me a render headache like you'd never believe.
My wife would call out, "Hun? When are you coming downstairs to eat."
I wouldn't answer.
Then, one day a friend said, "Dude, you need to get some help. The guys are missing you on game night. You've got to give up this DAZ stuff."
After a while, he stopped inviting me places. I was loosing weight and my eyesight.
It all came to my attention and awakening when my grandchild walked in and said, "Grandpa, when are you going to play catch with me?"
I didn't even know I had grandchildren and my daughter had got married.
That brings me here today.
I'm Brent, and I'm a DAZ addict.

How I missed this one I don't know, it is almost exactly what I need without all the extras, wish I knew if the braid end had an unbraided option... I guess I'll find out when I actually get to buy it. Thanks for pointing this one out to me this one might be the one I need.
And I just noticed that it is for V4... That kinda makes me sad, Not sure how it would work on Genesis 8.
I have converted a lot of V4 hair to Genesis 8 and they work fine, although naturally some are old, low poly, textures with burnt in specular etc, so don't look the same as modern hair.
I used this: https://www.daz3d.com/rssy-hair-converter-from-victoria-4-to-genesis-8-female but there are other ways of getting V4 hair onto G8F, for example by just parenting to the head and then scaling. I think for this long braid hair that would remain the best option, as I suspect it has a lot of customs bones and these will be lost when converted to G8F conforming hair.

She's Coming!!!
The latest version of Rosie will be able to jump back and forth between Daz Studio and Carrara!
No crazy exporting or manipulations... just load from the library and go!!!
She's nearing completion, but not quite there yet.
This image is a celebration of my latest epiphany - using dForce and Linday's Classic Long Curl Hair to build up a conforming hair with a plethora of Joint-Controlled-Morphs created directly from Simulation data - and it works!
I still have a way to go, but I wanted to give a small sample of where I'm at.
In this image she's also wearing her own custom GeoShell, and I made up the transparent shader with V4 HiRes Wet Maps (Specular and Bump).
I ported Arki's EYEdeas 4 for Genesis 3 Females over to Rosie and am also using PhilW's Eye Surface for Genesis - and he made his "Bright Eyes" for both Daz Studio and Carrara - so, win Win!!!
I really like the modern shaders for the latest few generations of Genesis, so I've used those as a base to work from and have come up with a really nice skin shader for Rosie using V4 Elite: Reby Sky.
Her shape comes from many sources - Sol for G8F and G3F, Star 2, Aiko 6, Gia 6, Victoria 6, Victoria 4, Stephanie 4, Arki's EYEdeas 4 and many shaping morphs from across generations 5 through 7.
After all of this time learning about many of the 'not-so-obvious' tools of Daz Studio, I've really come to love this software, and Carrara has been a Huge asset through this whole process, which is my Favorite Reason to even use a computer - Period! Carrara Pro ROCKS!!!
That's a terrific render, Dart. Hope you complete the character soon.
Your workflow sounds complex, but if it works for you, great. All that matters is the result (which looks outstanding).
Glad there are no bloodshot eyes. I really didn't care for those. :)

Although installed, V4 Morphs++ do not function in DS 4.15 [Solved]I have installed Victoria 4.2 and several of her character morphs in DS 4.15, along with the corresponding Morphs++ package. The morphs appear in the Content Library and there can be selected, but it seems that they are not applied to the character. After selecting V4 in the Scene palette, I find a search of Parameters, Shaping, and Posing comes up empty. I mean the morphs I applied, for example BreastsSize or Hip Size, simply cannot be found. Has anyone please any idea what I have done wrong? Thanks to one and all.
Where is Genesis 8.1 female basic modelI have Victoria 8.1 but can not find the Genesis 8.1 female basic model anywhere. Does anyone know where it is?

KHImage studio does it again, now for GENESIS 8!This thread is older, but here is another one with this product and I can't seem to get it to work. Now I can get some slight changes for the shoulder, but for example the picture in the store shows that bending the neck should produce some very visible details:

but it just doesn't, all I get is this:

EDIT: I own both the Victoria 8 version and the Gen8 version, probably bought both in a PC+ sale or something like that. Neither of them seems to work correctly. Just pointing that out since in the screenshots the Victoria8 version sliders are shown, but I tried both.
EDIT2: Ok, now I seeing the comments pointing out that I am supposed to use the Pose Controls. Though it does work when I just pose the bones for some of the morphs it seems. Maybe its somehow possible to just change the controller so it does not require me using the Pose Controls? That does indeed make the product inconvenient to use for me.
How do I convert female poses to male?DaWaterRat said:
I know it's old tech at this point, but you may want to look at the original base Genesis figure, which could morph into male and female characters. Since it could morph into either easily, the clothing fit either gender equally well without needing autofit.
The Genesis starter essentials should be available as part of your Daz Studio content downloads, so you can at least check out the base shapes without investing anything. There are also a fair number of freebies still around for Genesis 1 as well (may be noted as for Victoria 5, which is the Victoria shape for the original Genesis figure.)
This is a good suggestion; if you still want to use the poses with another preferred generation character, you can just transfer them to Genesis 1, dial in the opposite gender just to tweak the poses, and re-transfer them to the desidered generation. Results may not be perfect, but would at least be a starting point.
Are there still morph dials?Hi - I am just getting back into 3D stuff (I used DAZ a ton 15 years ago) and a lot has changed.
I am looking to use Victoria 8.1 but can't for the life of me find a facial morph pack. I don't want character presets...I'm looking for dials (example: eye height, top lip roundness, jaw angle, etc.). Is this still a thing?!
Thank you.
