I'm a newbee here and I'm trying to figure out compatibility. I'm trying to figure out if a hairstyle called 'CQ Event Hairstyle' will work with Michael 4. On the product page (http://www.daz3d.com/hair/cq-event-hairstyle) at the top it says 'David Base' is required, but when I go to the 'David Base' page that product is for Michael 3 and is described as being modeled after a smaller version of Michael. I'm not sure if I really need the David Base or not, and if I do will it work with Michael 4. If anybody has used this hair content I'd appreciate any advise about it.

I am also noting what outfit is required for the product. I am SO tired of trying to guess by the title! (You too, right?) It will be in parenthesis.
Although clothing and poses are the main emphasis, if I see a set has poses, I'll list it. You'll see (Set, poses) Texture sets are not listed unless they have a different name from the clothing.

How the list is generated: As you know, product page descriptions and the "compatible 3D figures" often don't both have the information. Every product here has been researched using the product page description and the information at the bottom of the page. These are the official "who the figure is for" and not "who this will work with." If you think you've found an error- CHECK THE PRODUCT PAGE FIRST PLEASE. Then let me know if there's something wrong. This is VERY time consuming and not my main priority, it's for my personal use and I am sharing. Hope you find it useful- it will be a link in my first post- I am going back and changing that to make it easy for you.

I've started tidying up some of the half-finished stuff I've got lying around - I've just uploaded a Low Resolution Water Jar Prop to both [url=http://www.sharecg.com/v/70086/view/11/Poser/Low-Resolution-Water-Jarhttp://www.sharecg.com/v/70086/view/11/Poser/Low-Resolution-Water-Jar]ShareCG and Renderosity.

It consists of three separate props - the terracotta jar, a weathered wooden lid and a coconut wood scoop.

There are also Smart+ prop version of the scoop for Poser 6+ and DAZ Studio 3+, which will not only put the scoop in the left/right hand of Aiko 3, David, Hiro 3, Laura 3, Luke 3, Michael 3, Stephanie Petite 3, The FREAK, The Girl, Victoria 3, Michael 4, Victoria 4 (and variants), Genesis (base figure), P5 Don, P5 Judy, P6 James, P6 Jessi, Miki 2, G2 James, G2 Jessi, Behemoth (origginal), PH Female, PH Male, Antonia, Apollo, F202 Dollie, Kirwyn's K, and MayaDoll, but will also apply a basic handgrip pose!

The Poser textures are procedural, but the DAZ Studio texture use images (I've been having been problems trying to reproduce Poser procedural textures in DAZ Studio Shader Mixer and eventually gave up!)

I'm working with Michael 4 and Victoria 4.2 and they both do something strange. I bought 'aniMate Martial Arts Kicks' and I'm trying to get a 'flying side kick'. They both perform the kick but they'd start in a ready pose in the center of the scene and when I played the aniBlock they would start running across to the left, then jump up and out to the left. The very last I'd see would be a partial body with the head chopped off (since perspectively their running to the left, upward and forward). I'm attaching 3 pics to demonstrate. I've been trying to find a way to reposition him (or her) possibly starting the character far right but have had no luck. Hopefully some one here knows how to do this.

I just tried this, I saved an M4 with Major Cache from my Gen 4 library, and reloaded it without error.
I looked in my folder for your missing morphs, and they are all there in

C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Gen 4 Content\Runtime\Libraries\!DAZ\Michael 4\Deltas\Morphs++
It looks as though your Morphs++ for M4 are not installed where DS expects them to be. Did you look to see if you actualy have these files in the same runtime folder as M4, because that is where they must be installed to?

I name him "Solum" Which means alone in Latin :)

I just got some more content that seems to have installed alright but I can't even get past adding hair. I start with a fresh Michael and found 'Guillaume Hair' in my content library and double clicked and got some strange results. The only thing it added was some frizzle around his head and if I clicked on his hair a strange orange glow. Also right after I clicked to add hair my PC slows down to a crawl until I close out of DAZ Studio. I did buy and install 'Michael 4 Morphs' a few days ago and as far as I can tell it's installed. Any ideas?

I've had DS 4.5 on my system for about a month, I've bought several things, and am using DIM. I heard that Daz Studio is the easiest 3D program to use. In fact, don't find it very easy, and even tutorials made for 4.5 read like they are written for some other program. (I must be sounding dumb, but I was actually a college graduate with honors -- unfortunately not in computer science). I'm not totally hopeless; I have managed to get Auto-Fit to work after tinkering for a day. But I still feel like I'm working on an alien landscape that just refuses to conform to the guide book. What's driven me to the wall and induced me to ask for help is the fact that that I can't get any Metadata files to appear over on the left side. Also, the DS file searches don't work for me. The lack of these conveniences makes everything very hard and slow.

When Genesis in in the center pane at start, even when FILES and ALL are highlighted, there are no Metadata offerings. Even with Genesis selected, all I get is the screen that says, "Where Are My Files?" It also says, "make a selection from the left." Well, duh, there is no list on the left. Nothing I do can make anything appear.

The Tutorials all assume that Smart Content should be appearing at start. I know from the Tutorials that an item I have, Magus, should have Metadata. As an added check, I just installed Night Guard for Genesis (which logically should have Metadata), but nothing appears for it in the Smart Content either. I went to the Content tree and select "NG Pants" and the pants appear duly on Genesis, but that doesn't prime the pump for Smart Content. Even if I select the pants specifically, nothing appears as a Metadata offering.

Another thing that makes me long for the safety of the hills is the "Search functions." Like, under "Actors, Wardrobe & Props", if I type "Magus" into the "Enter Text to filter by..." box, it gives me an X -- presumably the symbol of a failed search. If I put in "Night Guard", it likewise finds nothing.

It's the same story on the right side, for the Content Library tab. I assume the "Enter Text to Search by..." should be able to at least locate "Genesis" but all that comes up in a search for Genesis is an Orange highlighted "Search: Genesis" message. What's that all about? No information is offered. If it can't locate even the Genesis Figure is, what can it do? Another example. I know by a manual search that Michael 4 is in my Figures-Daz People file But if I text search for "Michael 4" the search engine only gives me that orange-backed message "Search: Michael 4" Why can't these searches find content? Even when I specifically highlight the content file on on the tree that I want to search, nothing is found. If I'm doing it wrong, how are these DS Search functions supposed to work?

Help would be much appreciated. I have wanted to make this amazing opportunity for computer-assisted art production my primary new hobby, but the sledding has been excruciating thus far. It is like every basic step is a puzzle to be solved.

As far as I can see the genital materials are for sue with the Michael 4 genitals, I don't think the Genesis male genitals were even available when the character was created.

I had no problem Auto-Fitting A4, G4 or S4 stuff to Genesis when I sometimes chose "Victoria 4" as my supported clone (choosing "Michael 4" for converting H4 and F4 stuff worked great, too). So, I wonder if this is still useful for G2F.

I've been away with health problems so I'm a bit out of date. I love MIMIC but it seems to have been phased out. What is everybody using for lip sync these days. Are the figures after Michael 4 etc not useable in MIMIC. If they aren't then I shall just have to stick with the older figures.

With all the talk about Victoria 6 and male and female or non-gendered Genesis figures, I thought someone might be interested to know that someone, me, uses plain old Victoria 4.2 with the Vittorio male character morphs to create male figures. I find the musculature more accurate and smoothly joined than in the Michael 4 figure. Many more poses can be done with V4 without the musculature becoming distorted. And the Vittorio package includes a Victoria cr2 mapped for Michael 4 textures.

Added: I'm going to install the Perfect V4 Complete morph fix package in this figure to make it even more distortion-free.

When attempting to download files via the DIM,my log states the following:

Apparently there is some kind of network issue on DAZ's end. How do we notify them of this?
