    DIM installs "/People/Genesis 8 Female/Characters/Carole 8.1.duf", so that is why you see it in the Characters in the Content Library. The DAZ metadata included in DIM for the Carole product does not include any metadata at all for that file, though, as far as I can see. I was able to assign an asset type and category successfully with the Content DB Editor and drag and drop it into the product. You can submit a help request about the metadata error, if you think there is any hope of getting it fixed. Or, you can just fix it yourself, like I did and move on with life.

    I don't have that char. but usually two reasons : DIM lost connection to cms when you installed the product; wrong metadata. You may try to re-import metadata of that product.

    As for the asset conflict issue, I have no way to test them 'cause I only have Itsy Hair...sorry...

    Yup, I know. I mostly touch what have to be corrected. Actually I don't know well about DAZ Script let alone SDK but I know well DBA and postgreSQL / dzContent.

  • Studio 4.22 and DIM -> metadata?

    "Connect" is built-in to DAZ Studio, no need to add anything else. If you use DIM exclusively to install, you should not use Connect for anything, even to "update" the metadata, which has had problems in the past. Don't log in from Studio, and remove the credentials from the login prompt. The database retains the status of products owned for Connect-related operations, and will add those icon overlays to the product thumbnails. If installed with DIM, the thumbnails will be coloured, but with the stylized "C" to indicate ready to install with Connect. If not yet installed, but purchased at the time of the last login, they will be greyed-out until you install with DIM.

    The only way to clear any Connect-related status is to reset the database and re-import the metadata. Be sure to export your User data so that you can restore any customization you have made to any metadata. Re-import your Vendor data first, then User data after. Doing both at the same time seems to confuse the database.

    DIM can export quite a lot of product data from the manifests. Tick the boxes next to the products, right-click, and choose "Export Selected to CSV..."

    This might be it. I am running the laptop as some sort of a test system, and intended to redo everything once certain that it pays for installing the actual machine.

    Though the "messy start" (installation-wise) had been at the start, almost a year ago. So most content has been installed later on, and is not ordered correctly, i.e. the items in front may be somewhat recent but are not correctly put.

    So i'll have to either repair diligently or rather reinstall in a clean way at some point. I still am not sure how to really do a clean install based on DIM, though. Haven't researched into that too deeply either. My last exit-node had been that i had the impression i have to install Connect first before actually having DIM, which might have been a misconception.

    Ok, when I went to dazcentral and did the download for 4.22 it did its thing. I was shocked to see a whole new icon on the desk top. So, I had the 4.21 and the 4.22. (No biggy)
    I went happily to the 4.22 and was eager to see what "death" (for g9) would look like and tried to add her to scene. A window popped up  with the file extension and "Not found". Ok, so go to preference(as I thought it may be an incorrect path). But according the to the content tab, it was correct. Thought, maybe I just better "add" it just in case. Did that. Closed, reopen. Tried again. Same thing. So I tried an item I know was in my library and had been used...same thing. "Not found".
    Went to the thumb name and did the "browse to folder location"...nothing happened.
    Tried it with another thumbnail...nothing happened.
    So I went to the actual folder. Manually.
    I know where it is. I have been in it to manually put files in when a thumbnail doesnt show.
    To find...and empty folder.

    So the folder location(which hasnt changed in a year) it was empty. Nothing was in it.(right now it is showing some as its all reinstalling).
    I can no longer show screen shots as I am now trying....TRYING to reinstall. The reason I am saying that is because its now been over 24 hours and I am at 38%(been showing 38% for most of the night). It has slowed down to a snail crawl. (I have checked my net speed. Its fine. I have made sure to turn off anything that may bleed my speed. But its ridiculously slow right now)
    It is downloading, but at such a slow rate its....just I have no idea how I am going to get all of the items to install by the weekend.
    (been keeping an eye on the left lower corner which tells me what is downloading, so I know it is, just...so painfully slow)

    That is unchecked by default - so that hidden ("deleted") categories from products (vendor metadata) do not appear, but are there for rference so that updates don't reshow them.

    The odd thing is, those freebies don't appear if you do things like going to the Shop page and ordering the whole store from low price to high, you have to get there from the New Scene page. I guess they're using them to see how many people use the new version.

    There will presumably be other offers, some free soem not, in future - at least if you log-in (which you can now, by default, do without getting a possibly unwelcome metadata update).

  • Daz Studio Pro BETA - version 4.22.0.15! (*UPDATED*)

    So now my scene I was working on last night won't open. The log I think is saying some line of code got screwed up? But this is the only scene I've opened and saved post 4.22 update (I was on 4.15 before, I wanted volumetrics so was gonna update to 4.21, but 4.22 dropped literally right before so I was SOL)

  • clothing FBX/obj import -issue with surfaces not showing

    PerttiA is right. Do not use Unicode character and space character when naming obj files otherwise you'll lose the assigned texture maps. But it seems OP manually assigned the maps after import...

    Aslo check the project in CLO, wrong normals could be easily identified but even with wrong normals, textures can be still seen in DS...

  • clothing FBX/obj import -issue with surfaces not showing

    Hi,

    I have been having an issue with the surfaces of some clothing that I imported from CLO3D into DAZ 4.21 64 bit.

    I tried both ways, obj and fbx, and in both cases, the surfaces are not showing. The weird thing is that I can see that the texture file are uploaded in the surface editor tabs.

    It's probably some settings that I need to change but I couldn't figure it out and this is driving me crazy.

    Did anyone faced the same issue at some point ?

  • Transfer Utility never works

    Tricks -:

    1. Go for remodeling / resculpting on the imported obj in Blender base on you Daz character, make the clothing fitted AMAP, and assure the geometry welded per piece of garment;
    2. Import obj into Daz, rig each garment with Transfer Utility (set Source Item Shape - Current and tick Reverse Source Shape from Target)
    3. Finetune FBM or bs on the garments and fix all necessary pJCMs / cbs, in Blender and import back to DS...

    As for dForce, I checked the product on RH, for such a japanese style clothing, it's usually doable to add dForce modifiers to Juban, Kimono, Haori, Hakama even Kyahan, but not on the Mino, hat and shoes. You better know well about how to set up properties on dynamic surfaces, with simulation testing. More experiments lead to more experience and better results...

    Recommend a youtuber - Kelvin Jin (aka shinteo), who's good at making stylized characters and transferring clothing from Blender to Daz.  https://www.youtube.com/@Shinteo5 Check his tutorials...
