Why will genesis 8 female not load any more ?
Uh... I don't believe that is the case. At least not unless the connect version works differently. Only morphs that have been dialed in will be loaded. This is why loading a character that has a lot of morphs applied (set to non-zero values at some point, I don't know if setting them back to zero will strip them out the next time you save and load it) will take longer. You can see this in the Studio log. If your figure is coming in with all morphs applied there may be something else going on. But you can see what morphs load in the log when you load a new G8F figure, and you can apply some morphs and look at the log to see the morph deltas being loaded as you apply morphs.
The Official aweSurface Test TrackI haven't done it in a few years so I may be a bit off here. It's not a straightforward process.
First off, Garibaldi only uses 1000x1000 textures so all the texture maps you want to use have to be converted to that size.
Second, each map has to be renamed to match the material zone it is being mapped to. Since maps for Genesis figures cover more than one material zone, you would have to replicate the map as many times as necessary and name each one for the seperate material zones.
All the maps you make have to be contained in a single directory. eg: Create a directory named Bear textures. resize, and rename all the bear textures from the bear skin directory for that cool bear morph you bought. (This is an example - I don't know if there even is a bear morph
)In Garibaldi, go to the paint tab and select import. Navigate to the directory you created and select it. You must select the directory name and not the file names inside it.
This will import the textures for the figure using the name of the directory you loaded. From there, you can select it in the texture box for color settings in the distribute tab.
Once you've saved the Garibaldi hair file, you can delete the directory you imported if you like because all the info will now be in the Garibaldi hair file.
If my memory hasn't gone completely to pot, this should be it.
Good luck.
PS: You can also create a new texture in the paint tab and select color instead of the default grey in the pop up box. This will let you paint your own color map directly on the figure if that works better for your needs.
Thanks very much for this detailed tutorial:)
Well, as you say, definitely not straightforward, I will have to see if I could use scene optimizer to resize the textures, and I think the LIE baker script renames the textures to match the mat zones, would be much easier than doing the whole thing manually;)
By the way, that's Genesis 1 with some creature morphs applied (among a few others), and textures are from the Hound Dog product. Yeah he looks pretty cool:)
I think the second option you mentioned is worth looking into first, was thinking of making a white fur with black spots like a dalmatian or something...
Still experimenting with exporting GB to .obj, the tricky part is to get the strand amount and thickness right, I found that the push modifyer is very useful for thinning out the strands. Slowly getting there. The nice thing about converting is you can use dFormers and dForce to make morphs, and animation gets a lot easier:) Still struggling with finding the right settings for aweSurface though..

GENERAL FREEBIE REQUESTS part 3Does anyone here know if Beavis and Butthead (the characters themselves) morphs exist for Michael 4 or any of the Genesis models? I'd like to do some fan animation to my Beavis and Butthead impressions, but I find DAZ Studio faster and higher quality to do animation in than trying to do 2D animation. Thanks in advance for any answers on the subject!
Well, since no one had an answer, I've taken matters into my own hands, and used morphs (and edited surfaces in the eyes and armani hair that comes with G8M) to make Butt-Head using G8M base figure. I've even just made Beavis, and edited this post to add him. If anyone knows how I can share the character preset (and wants to use this), let me know how to properly do so.
I am very interested! Can you upload it for us please?

Sorry I haven't been on in a while to see this. Yes, I can upload both (you only need the morph and material files right? I think I saved them as one preset). PM me tomorrow to remind me, I have to find the files again (shouldn't be too hard).
Cow!!!!Cow!!!!You want wings? Griffin Wings for DAZ Horse 2. Again, don't know if they can follow the cow morph, but they do conform to the chest.
Cow!!!!Goofy question, what happens if you dial the morph part way? Do you get some horse-cow hybrid creature? Are there other morphs or props for the Daz Horse that can add weird things with them? Like wings or unicorn horns? <.<
There is a product with Unicorn horns I know for DAZ Horse 2 and I think it includes wings. Those should easily work with a slight adaption with the cow morph & DeepSea's earlier Deer morph too.
There is also the centaur product and I'd doubt that that would work to give you a cowtaur.
Cow!!!!There's a Lovable Llama. Don't know if it's a morph you can dial in, though.

Yes

Deer, Foals, Llamas. unicorns, water horse, nightmares, griffin wings (Ooh, I never spotted the llama til now)....La Llama est uno quadrupedo*
* Monty Python Llama sketch (in case anyone thinks I'm nutters).
Tika 8 - thoughts@Jardine thanks! Yes, I knew I could try fun things on her... And because so many complained about too many White girls, here I just used the highest translucency skin setting and just tweaked the translucency color a bit, and tada, not a White girl! Used Suki’s eyes and brows and added in some LaTonya morph. I also have an Asian version but I’m posting too much already lol. They are more artistic than totally realistic but it shows you can do more with a “Thorn doll” than just fairies...
Very nice and also very believable.
... And they are all (the characters) dolls. They are there to be manipulated, posed and dressed up, then placed in stories. That sounds to be the purpose that dolls (including anction man) were for.
Calling any charcter a doll, whilst excluding others from the monica seems to me to be disrespectful.
This comment isn't aimed at you btw.Just another "Offended" poster. We all get it. I try and not discriminate between digital doll creations, but sometimes I just can't help myself!
BTW, Wonderland's posts are just terrific! There's a term I've heard called 'Romantic Realism' from 2D art paintings that just might apply to her's (and some PA's) pictures posted here. Just another peg in my thoughts to purchase the product!

Question about Universal Horns for G8F (length adjust)Yes because the horns were modeled with a curling shape it would be impossible to have a lengthen morph.
Genesis 8 BabiesOverall it is not that bad. I think the issue with Babies 8 is not much with the figure itself, but the name. If they were called Genesis 8 Toddlers or infants, everyone would had welcomed the figure a lot better. But the name is not as appealing. Although technically a "baby" is from newborn to 4 years of age, our minds default to newborns. And I believe that's what throwing us of (or at least that what was throwing me off.) But I got to embrace it and I am glad Daz gave us a different type of figure than the typical teen or adult figure. And the fact that is compatible with other Gen 8 figures and not a stand-alone is a big plus. So you can make a variety of morph changes from the base figure.Hmm... maybe the problem is more linguistic. Up here in my corner, 'baby' is usually only for little ones that can't walk. After that it's toddler, or pre-school/pre-k.
I don't own any other G8 figures or, obviously, morphs, so there is really no advantage to it for me, as I have need or desire for G8 (Floyd and Mabel are only vile tempters!) A stand-alone would, strangely, have worked out better. I'm weird, though, and I know it :-)

Not many do toon renders so I don't know if there'll be interest in these products.
a) 3DU Toon Frog - https://www.daz3d.com/3d-universe-toon-frog
- Converts to iRay & render well.
- Excellent expressions
- Nice set of start poses.
- Doesn't distort too badly when posing more extemely bends.
- Nice set of cute props
- value: average
- Grade C+: I think cuter toon frogs have been done but this is the best of them in the DAZ / Poser 3D model world.
b) 3DU Toon Croc https://www.daz3d.com/3d-universe-toon-croc
- Does not convert to iRay so nicely
- No starter poses
- Expressions not up to 3DU's later expressions standards
- Distorts quite badly even on parts that short have high flexibility, eg the tail
- cute floatie inflatable smwimming pool ring
- value: average
- Grade C: recommended only because it's the only Toon Croc/Alligator out there.
c) Desolation Earth - Gator Joe Swamp Boat https://www.daz3d.com/desolation-earth-gator-joe-swamp-boat
- Geometry excellent
- Surfaces excellent
- Materials excellent for the time for 3DL but very dated for iRay
- value: excellent as it is a PC+ item
- Grade: B+
d) Pond Builder Base https://www.daz3d.com/pond-builder-base
- Geometry is simply but believable.
- Materials are good but don't all convert to look good in iRay, most notible the grass
- Flexible - by using PBR tilable textures is is easy to get beach tide pools, ponds, frozen pond and so on for use in many scenes. I think I've used it most of all my sets.
- No trees, no bushes, no land plants except the grass texture.
- The additional Pond Builder - Expansion 1 https://www.daz3d.com/pond-builder-expansion-1 is available but doesn't add much and is relatively expensive. Poor value for money.
- value: good with only the Pond Builder Base product and poor if one has bought the Pond Builder - Expansion 1 product to supplement it.
- Grade: B
e) Little Ones (Mega Bundle) for Genesis 3 https://www.daz3d.com/little-ones-mega-bundle-for-genesis-3
- Well what to say about this product. It's the sort of product that would be bought by a school teacher illustrating a series of Kindergarten & 1st Reading Primers & similar endeavors. The style isn't really a fit with the other 3DU or 3D model products either unless using them exclusively with the 3DU toon critters. That's not to say it's bad though, I would probably use it more if the Toon Generations products had not been made.
- Where I find myself using it though is to use the included hair and clothing. The conservative nature of them lets them be used on adult or child characters. I used the dreads hairstyle in the example render from this bundle and that was it.
- Has toddler age child toys included.
- value: good
- grade: B+
f) Toon Generations Mega-Bundle for Genesis 8 Male(s) and Female(s) https://www.daz3d.com/toon-generations-mega-bundle-for-genesis-8-males-and-females
- Easily, along with Toon Generations 2 and Toon Generations 1, the most comprehensive set of toon characters, clothing, hair, and acessories out there. While there are more PAs producing toon products now none have the scope of 3DU's Toon Generations lines; really it's your only choice although it takes just a bit of DAZ Studio skill, if you own DAZ 3D foundation Genesis 8 morph packages, to get toon style characters with a more realistic caricature look admittedly. I own every 3DU Toon Generation product available from TG 1, TG 2 & TG 8, and a few from other PAs.
- Toon Generations 8 now includes an afro and dark sub-saharan toon skin but otherwise is very similar to TG 2.
- Otherwise TG 8 is pretty much a recycle of TG 2. The characters are slightly more realistic I noticed. Included are a couple of props from past 3DU products. So if you own TG 2 then TG 8 may not meet you requirements of new unique content for money spent.
- Includes excellent toon expressions, baby poses, and glasses. Unfortunately the glasses don't fit regular proportioned DAZ 3D Genesis 8 (or other generations) characters without severe size & shape problems which is too bad because they are excellent on TG 8 characters. Likewise, TG 8 expressions don't work on regular Genesis 8 characters although the TG 8 baby poses do work on Genesis 8 characters.
- value: excellent
- grade: A

This comment isn't aimed at you btw.I don't think she meant anything by it - I think when people say "Thorne doll" they just mean that many of Thorne's characters are really cute and doll-like. I don't think it's meant to be disrespectful, but more of a descriptor on the style of the characters. :)
Tika 8 - thoughtsShe's adorable - and the eyes look really good :-) The new eyebrows are also an improvement, IMO.
Not a baby, though. Toddler, maybe. ;-)
Yeah, the baby morphs start to look creepy once you get higher than 50% or so. I really wish they came with a separate head and body morph. Or didn’t get weird looking when you dial them in more... I might try again to make a true baby that doesn’t look creepy lol.

Those are gorgeous! You're definitely not posting "too much"! I'm loving your renders and various mixes!
Cow!!!!Marguerite has also a Length legs morph.
