Not exactly. After you save your M4 textures as duf files, you need to make poser companion files or PCF's for those duf files. Without the Poser Companion Files the DSON importer you installed in Poser cannot read the duf's.
M4 to G2M UV ConfusionOkay, let me see if I have this straight:

M4 to G2M UV ConfusionThe first product batch changes the pz2, and dsa material files to the duf format needed to apply materials to G2M. The Michael 4 for G2M is a clone that contains a M4 UV so that you can use M4 materials with G2M and convert M4 clothing to fit with G2M.
So you would probably need both to apply M4 textures to G2M. You would still need to make any poser companion files so they can be read in Poser, or find Dimension3D's utility (I think on his website) to read the files directly into Poser.
M4 to G2M UV ConfusionI am having a particularly dense day.
Can someone, please, explain to me if I need Michael 4 Skins Auto Converter For Genesis 2 Male(s) found at http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/michael-4-skins-auto-converter-for-genesis-2-male-s if I buy Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male at http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male
The second says that it converts textures from M4 ("The Michael 4 UV set will allow you to use your favorite textures"). What specifically does the first do that the second one does not?
I am basically a Poser user but am trying to add Genesis 1 & 2 and DS into me pipeline.
Thank you!
Michael 4 Skins Auto Converter For Genesis 2 MaleI can not find instructions for running this script.
I have the required Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male. When I run the script the first thing it asks for is "select the MAT file you want to load to G2F" It opens a directory called program files > Daz3d > dazstudio4 and presents me with a lot of sub directories. I can't find anything to select as I look through these directories and sub-directories with the show all files setting turned on. I don't mean to be dense, but what exactly am supposed to select and where is it. :-)
Assume everything is in its default directory. The files are wherever installer put them.
Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male NOT By MallenLane? As expected, G2M & M6 came out with a M4 Clone Shape. However, what WASN'T expected was the fact that they're not released by MallenLane, who previously produced the equivalent V4 for G2F.
I'm not so much upset by the vendor I'm just curious as to why it wasn't done by him. Was MallenLane not intending on making one? If not, was he aware that someone else picked up the project? What about support adjustments if need be? The V4 for G2F had to be tweaked a couple times as some members reported minor inaccuracies such as in the feet and face (because of the finer mesh). Have those already been taken care of with this one here?
Again, not trying to be a spoiled OCD brat, just wondering if Slosh is aware of these things, since it's not MallenLane's product this time. :)

(http://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male)No, if you have M4 you can apply the original material files for the M4 textures to that, then save as a Materials preset from DS to get the .duf file needed for G2M. The auto-converter just saves you time and fiddling.

Am I just slow and too attached, or are new toons popping up rather quickly now?I am not quite certain what to make of that whole Character stuff with Genesis.
First Genesis, then V5 and M5... then came Genesis 2 and a bunch of new Toons like Teens and so on.
Now there us V6 and M6... and that all with 1,5 years. How long have we usually waited until a new generation has been released?I am still with Michael 4. First I thought about using M5, so I am uptodate with the new technology...
But then came Genesis 2 and now Michael 6. That's happening rather too fast for my taste. It's not only teh amount of money that goes in there within a short frame of time. Also the time, effort and care I put into "creating my character" with all the morphs, textures and ZBrush deforming ...
I am the only one that wants to stick to her "main/signature" characters longer than just a couple of months?
Plus. There is also usally no guarantee that you really can achieve the same facial "build" with the new toons. I found for example M5 not that versatile and you had to buy too many extra morphs to get something done.
Have to admit, I liked the old concept better with the +Morphs and Creature Morphs being good to go... i actually for example never used the ethnic morphs for M4 or V4... I did it all manually with ZBrush or the +Morphs. The only extra morphs I ever bought were the "Perfect..." from Xameva and the UltraMorphs to complete the +Morphs from Daz.
So, I am alone with that kind of feeling?
I really do not mind new stuff. But at this speed... it fills me with great reluctance to constantly throw away my old toons and recreate them from scratch. It's the combination of "shit loads of money + time and effort" all over again *sigh*
Do Michael 4 (Poser, not Daz) clothes for example now fit to Michael 6 with the help of the Autofit Tool, or do I have to buy tons of extra Plugins to smoothen out the kinks? And experience here already inside of Carrara?
I think everyone knows the pain and feeling of having spend money on myriads of clothes and trinkets for their toons. And it hurts extremely if I cannot re-use them properly on the newer toons.
I one of those dboring people who grow attached to certain things and only part with old stuff if the new one is truly better and more versatile and also truly replaces the old without letting something being missed.Michael 6 has arrived. YAY!I decided on the Pro Bundle, "Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male" by Slosh and "Michael 4 Skins Auto Converter For Genesis 2 Male(s)" by DraagonStorm
Looking forward to Jepe's, Male-M3dia and Cake One's offerings as well as most of the rest of the offerings. Trust me I like just about everything.
The Pro Bundle with the other two packs comes to 102 and with only a 10% with my lack of participation these past couple of months it's still a good enough deal for me. My credit card will be smoking hot but it's OK. So is Michael 6!
Dial A Face is Back! (Now featuring Genesis 3!)Ok, for a while, I was doing dialspun morphs for Victoria 4 and Michael 4, using the Morphs++ and Morphia/Morphus addons, and sometimes the Elite Ethnic Morphs and Aiko 4 as well. Then life got busy and I stopped. I started up again recently with two new morphs.
Sakina (Morphs++/Morphia/Elite Ethnic Morphs) is a young woman who could be Mediterranean, Southeast Asian (my original inspiration was an actress from India, but the result doesn't look anything like her) or maybe something else: http://www.sharecg.com/v/73184/view/11/Poser/Dial-A-Face-Sakina
Bill Hickok (Morphs++/Morphus), made in response to a request from Dollygirl, is my attempt at the famous frontier lawman. The pictures I was working from were mostly taken when he was in his thirties, but with the right skin and some fiddling of the Morphs++ young/old dials you might be able to age him up or down: http://www.sharecg.com/v/73185/view/11/Poser/Dial-A-face-Bill-Hickok
I'm open to further suggestions, especially male historical personalities, but I can't guarantee that they'll turn out well enough to share.

morphs genesis to Michael 4 /Victoria 4Ok, preliminary results: it is certainly possible. The problem with Morph Loaders seems to be fixed.
For this process I've used M4/V4 iconic shapes for Genesis to properly 'deduct' M4 shape from M4 and make the shape of Original Genesis for M4 to work better with other transferred morphs.
Genesis (with Hill Giant morph 100% only, no scaling, default pose) on a left, Michael 4 with Hill Giant Morph 100% and GenesisOriginal Shape 100% (to negate innate M4 shape out of M4) on right, default (non-zeroed) pose. It is very much possible to make GenesisOriginal shape for M4 if you have M4 Iconic shape for Genesis.Problem with transfer of, at least, drastic morphs from Genesis to Gen 4 is that Gen 4 initial and older technology doesn't support automatic bone adjustment function. Adjust Rigging to Shape function is a huge timesaver and while you can adjust bones manually with Joint Editor and probably do proper ERC freezing after that so bones in rigging behave well with drastic morphs, it will require quite a lot of time to do. I'm sure there is a workaround for that (like converting dummy M4 to Triax figure, morphing a drastic morph, using Auto Bone adjustment, transfer rigging/extract donor figure and import it back to usual M4 with same drastic morph dialed and then do ERC _that_ on usual M4) but it is rather clumsy way anyway.
It won't probably matter for small morphs, that don't affect the skeleton, like most of facial non-toon morphs (nose length, cheeks depth, etc) but for anything drastic, including eyes and inner mouth will not work properly on M4 because bends will be off. Hill Giant on M4 looks well in default and zero pose but when I move the shoulder of M4 Hill Giant down, it turns into spaghetti without bone adjustment/ERC.
Is there any particular morph you'd with to transfer? Maybe I can help better with this particular morph?
P.S. also there might be a problem area in eyebrows plate, as Genesis doesn't have it, and I'm not sure how well it affects the final transfers.

RWBY - popular web anime made with Poser (update Season 2)Thanks gilikshe, this is so cool and cheesy! There was some really well produced moments there, but particularly in the following part 2 and 3. Good camera work and use of DOF. I'm subscribed to ghidghid now. I like his (it is a he, right?) little how to/demonstration videos and the way he works in a bit of a chuckle. I think it's great how he shows how pure stock content productions can still be interesting. Seeing a basic Michael 4 always makes me laugh though. For anyone that has any link to 3D probably knows him too well. It's like seeing some B-list movie star pop up in all these movies you just rented.
I'd actually seen Sexy Dino Hunter before. Thanks for sharing :)
Can't get Dark Priest Robes to work with Michael 4By the way, I see what you mean as I got it to work by just creating my own folder on D: to put the runtimes.
Unfortunately, the content doesn't seem to be correctly attached to Michael 4. I don't see the Genesis reference that I would normally click on in order to gain access to all the sliders to move arms, etc. So far the Robes are just "dumb" meaning I can't do anything to change the figure while they're on the figure and even if I did adjust the figure, I'm wondering if the clothes will conform to the figure's bodies, etc.
Then the question becomes: Do I extract other products to this same folder? If so, I get file conflicts, namely the manifest file says it's already in there. Yikes.
So do you recommend I make a folder on D: to contain each separate runtime?
WTH doesn't Daz3d put these basic instructions at the bottom of every single page in their store? I can't be the only one who has had this sort of problem.
I love Carrara, but I think it needs a little bit of a revamp in this regard.
Thanks, I've only tried the Monk Robes for a few minutes. Thanks for showing me that it does in fact work and talking about the Zip file.
You'd think the automatic installer would work, but no!!! lol
