E' capitato anche a me su Facebook, bisogna dargli i dati e basta :(

  • DAZ 4.11 Update

    Thank you, L'Adair.

Changing all of my .daz files to .duf is the plan.  Challenge?  Nah... There is no challenge there -- the challenge has been trying to recreate all that work from scratch -- I still can't get several of my characters to look right, because I don't remember all the months of dial spinning or custom morph target work that went into them.  Being able to open them up will be a Godsend.

Do I really need to create a 'My DAZ 3D' Library folder for this to work?

All my Studio folders are in a base 'DAZ 3D' (My Documents on C drive) folder which includes individual folders for each version of (past) Studio; 'Studio' (auto-created by install) folder where completed renders are sent to by default ('Render Library') unless I change to one of my dedicated folders, 'Studio3' (for DS3), Studio4.6 (previous version library [in use]), and 'Studio4.9' (current and contains 'My Library' where everything is saved to).

I despise the 'My DAZ 3D' folder that is sometimes auto-created with install, and have dedicated 'My Library' folders for the Library.

Did you do anything special/specific to get them to work on your D drive, or did they all just start working with the new DS4.11 by default?

I suspect you'll need to use that directory name. My understanding is the .daz files are all binary and not editable so all the paths to the product and supporting files, like materials, will need to be in the path specified by the file. However, you could try creating a folder with another name, like DotDaz Files, or whatever, and install there. See if it works. If not, try renaming the folder to My DAZ 3D Library and see if that works. (Don't forget you need to add any new directory in the appropriate places in the Content Manager, so DS can find them.)

I use the default directory name for Daz products, and I install using DIM. I had to change the path to install content in DIM to my D-drive path, (D:\Daz3D\My DAZ 3D Library.) I also changed the info in Daz Studio Preferences (F2): Preferences->Content->Content Directory Manager… The new directory is under both DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats.

Do I really need to create a 'My DAZ 3D' Library folder for this to work?

No, you can use any folder you want as a content folder, as long as you setup preferences properly in DS ( and DIM if you use it) so that it knows where your content is.

I know that is true in general, but is it true for the .daz files? I've read they can't be moved and still work, though I have no experience with it them other than in My DAZ 3D Library.

  • dForce Hair (as well as strand based hair and the strand based hair editor) in public beta

...now I have to hope PAs will release the types of hair I need. Very disappointing.

The problem actually is not denying the end user the tool as much as not providing the users with options for every figure and animal unless a PA or DAZ releases one

Could we start something of a community wishlist thread for dForce hair, then?

I don't think it will go anywhere. It looks like DAZ is reating this as a competitive advantage and only releasing the tool to PAs. Just like the HD morph process.

  • Is it possible to make PhilW's new dForce Femme Fatale Hair look layered?

A queestion to those who bought this hair already:

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-femme-fatale-hair-for-genesis-3-and-8-females

Is it made of layers that could have their length changed to create different styles? The promos only show it worn as a blunt cut basically, but the description lists various pre-drape morph presets that make me wonder if it's built in layers internally.

  • G8 to G3 clothing clones?

    You don't need a clone.

There's a better way to do it.

1 - Load G3 Male or Female (depending on the clothes)

    2) Load the clothing item you want without fitting it

    3) adjust the limbs on the clothes by +/-45 and +/- 6 until its lined up right. You can adjust from there for but it works out of the box 90% of the time as is.

    4) Use the Joint Editor Tool (Alt-Shift-J, looks like a bone crossed with a pencle) and select the clothes then choose BAKE JOINTS.

    5) Go to scene and click the Gen 3 Figure. Then Shift click your clothing. IT MUST BE DONE IN THIS ORDER

    6) Go to Edit - Figure - Rigging - Transfer Rigging (Figure Space)

    7) Go to Edit - Scene identification and then change the Perferred Base to the figure of chose.

Save your work as a new asset and enjoy your converted clothing. You might need some smoothing but it should do a pretty solid job.

Also works from G3 to g8.

G3 Female wearing a the Daylight Noir dress for Genesis 8 Female

Okay so I'm sorry to have to revive this thread but I'm running into another snag. I used the process above before and it worked beautifully. But now, I get to step 3 and the clothing item apparently has no parameters with which to adjust the limbs. Is that "game over" for converting this clothing to work on G3F? :( I hope not. Any thoughts or advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

for rigged figures in Carrara you need to save using an existing morph target

some got around this by using send to Hexagon in DAZ studio and slightly moving one vertice to create and save morph target to use

you will get crazy distortion in Carrara doing this on weightmapped figures because the morphs need to be adjusted to rigging space and ERC freeze run before saving in DAZ studio

for genesis + figures you really need the Carrara plugin called DAZ studio, not much getting around it

are you working with a specific figure already saved to carrara?
what are a couple of the morphs you using?

    or PM me.

    Hi Misty,

It's a mix of about 25 or so morphs to exaggerate facial features. More for the body.  I have a list and they are from several different vendors.  This is an image of a more refined version than above with my Neander girl next to her Cro Magnon friend.  It's a kiddie-friendly look. The previous one was a hag-older woman look, but I have another way of doing that with an old genesis figure.

It's not a biggie, I just thought it was something I'd failed to learn and am used to just adjusting the morphs from the base figures from my list. I have one for the males, too.  Your Carrara G3s work just fine and I love using them and they are the ones who will be front and centre!

Am going to give it a rest for a while... will try to get back to things later in the weekend. Little granddaughter coming and going each day which is unusual and demanding! But soon over... whew.

  • Does hard drive speed matter for loading and rendering? *solved*

I might end decide to buy a 7,200 RPM hard drive bacause I'm going to transfer a ton of files to the new SATA hard drive.  The runtime folder for Daz Studio is about 60 GB in size and has a couple thousand files.  I'm also planning to copy the setup files for games that I bought to the new drive.  I might end up buying a 1.5 TB or 2 TB hard drive.

  • Daz Studio Pro BETA - version 4.11.0.383! (*UPDATED*)

Serching for how to's,... and yeah, I'm prolly just missing something obvious, but....
    Offline Installer?
I don't have any of my artwork PC's connected to the outside world, so I'm looking for the usual full sized download to try the public beta after seeing the youtube video announceing the stand based hair.
All I see are the links to the online installers,.... :(

    1. Install DIM on an internet connected pc
    2. Download the installation package for DS beta (just a glorified zip file) on that machine
    3. Transfer the installer for both DIM and the DS beta via thumbdrive to your sandboxed machine
    4. Install DIM on your offline machine, move the DS beta installer to DIM's Downloads directory, and install via Offline mode in DIM

  • Salwar Kameez for Genesis 8 Female on Genesis 8 Male?

I'm debating picking up the Salwar Kameez for Genesis 8 Female (https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-salwar-kameez-for-genesis-8-females) , and I know quite a few Gen 8 clothes transfer well to the other gender, so I was wondering if anyone had put it on a male figure? I'd be curious to see how it looks.

another option for a figure already converted to car,
is to save your accumulated morphs as a new morph in carrara.  export obj,
    reimport as new morph.
carrara would do the channel creation work.

Hi Misty,  That was sort of how I started out.  Up in the Parameters tab, whether you are on ACTOR in the tree or the entire figure, there is an option to save and load.  It saves as a .cbr (2 types). I thought its purpose was just that, to save parameters and then load them on other figures that were a generation/sex match.

Guess not?  But how do you save them as a new Car morph... where and under what files?  How do you export as obj and reimport as a morph?  I tried messing about in the Modelling room and the figure in Animation mode, but nothing happens, it just saves as Actor as the whole file.

I have almost all of Fenric's plugins.... too bad pose transfer didn't include morph transfer!

think it would be easier to keyframe, then doing each individual morph every time. smiley

if you want to use DS to save a a collection of morphs and poses and pose controles, you would do an ERC freeze to save all.
an ERC pose should apply to figure you've already loaded from DS runtime.
if you've saved your character as .car, you'd need to save a new one after  you make an ERC pose.
tho would be nice to be able to inject it to a character already saved to carrara.  dreams. lol,

there was an old fenric utility to save a carrara pose as a poser file.  sadly gone from store now,

if you talking about animating to show the morphs effect over time.
you can drag the arrows on the keyframe bars down the timeline.
save your first frame as a zero pose,
mmoir made a tutorial, shows tweeners and ik boots. the tutorial from the store is sadly gone, but i did see a few tutts on you tube by mmoir.

there are nla animated poses and keyframed animated poses.
each methos had their strong points.

agreed we could use a g3 video tutorial on animating face rigging and morphs.

i think mimic would only save face morphs, not the face rigging pose. might be easier than ticking boxes in the drop down list.

I recently added a character shape I acquired from an artist (not from Daz or Rendo) and now every G8M Actor is loading with the shape, including the basic G8M.  How do I fix the morph so it doesn't automatically activate?  I know this has been discussed before, but i can't find the thread.

  • Saving actor or character parameter/morphs

OK,  I was able to create a Master pose clip from my Neanderthal woman morphs (and there are tonnes of them under Actor).  She is not from a morph package like Mr Bear. I saved it to the Clips browser.  I then tried opening a 'fresh' new Janette to apply the clip on, but Carrara just froze up.  So I went back into my original Neanderthal woman file and ZEROED the figure under the Animation drop down and she went back to a plain version of  Janette, but with skin texture. I am sure they are the same, just one has skin.

Anyways....  the results were weird per screenshots.  I had selected Actor for the morphs in the expanded dropdown for creating a Master Pose.  I did not tick the main character above Actor, and I did not select hip, and all the body parts below. See other screenshot.  Every morph I own is ticked under Actor by default.  I hope I am not supposed to untick those and only choose the ones with which I made her in the first place?  Yikes.  It would be easier to use my list of morphs with their values from the get-go when I need another Neanderthal woman to tweak so they are not twins.

I am sure I have gone wrong here... but not sure where.   I went back and looked at the character I created and at all the arms, legs, facial expressions, etc parameters yout have when selecting the full character and all were ZERO, so I had only ever played with the ACTOR morphs.  I can see what is wrong.... her body shrank in height as it should, but the head did not completely reduce, leaving the neck to stretch and the eyeballs never came down at all.

The figure is a bit crude... I had not smoothed her body or anything yet in Zbrush. If I am doing NPR, I can managed those things in PS.  Trying to cut down on production time.  The original figures arms, legs, waist, head all move when I manually pose them in the correct way.  Under Motion.... rotation is set at Angles, but would that affect Actor morphs?  There is also no displacement. I also am not using any Normals or Bump maps just to keep things clean.

The answer is probably obvious... but not to moi!!!  Any ideas?

  • Saving actor or character parameter/morphs

Sorry to be thick as treacle, but when I make an NLA clip, it only seems to include morphs that you can make on the entire character, such as facial expressions, limbs movement, poses, etc.   It is not showing me a way to save the PARAMETERS for ACTOR.  EG, facial structure changes, body changes, character slider applications.  How do you save those, or does NLA not work for them?  It would be strange if you could not as how would you do an animation from a normal figure to eg an ogre in your tracks?

I do NOT animate.. the only animation I have ever done is with Flash in Adobe for 2D which is totally 'simples' compared to this.  I'd like to explore it in the future if it saves creating many scenes of the same characters in the same setting doing different things, but I still would be using single static renders of a current frame.

OR is this not working because I am using Misty's G3?   I tried on a plain old Genesis figure, but the same choice comes up... no actor morphs get saved to the clip.

What am I doing wrong, or is there another way to save figure SHAPE vs POSE.  I would hope there is as there is that Animation dropdown that has all those memorise features, but where do the 'memories' go when you choose them?   Do I have to load another plain figure into the same scene as the ACTOR morphed on and transfer the morphs to the new added base figure?

I have tried to search for vids in Carrara Cafe and on PhilW's Carrara training, but I can't seem to get NLA to pick up ACTOR parameter morphs. (I am talking naked people here, no hair or clothing yet put on them).

Any idiot proof tutoring gratefully appreciated! heart
