  • The [Disco Chives] Misplaced Parrot Complaint Thread

It depends how implausible you think a red-hot electric element dissassociating water into 2xH2 and O2 is. My dad once threw a bucket of water into an overheating coke central heating boiler and came away without eyebrows, eyelashes or moustache, and my mother saw a wall of blue flame erupt out of the cellar boiler room as he did it. He was pretty much bald at the time, so can't comment on how much head hair he lost. This was between 1971 & 1976 in West Germany.

That may have produced Water Gas

  • Stop Icon

I don't have, nor seen any icons with a stop sign on them from DAZ. Then again, I have never used Daz Central, but i doubt that it has anything to do with it.. Right click on one of the icons and go to properties and see what app it belongs to.

  • Stop Icon

Hello. Several icons on my Desktop have a small stop sign in their lower left corner. Near as I can tell, these icons belong to applications that were installed with the Download Manager instead of Daz Central. Can anyone tell me if these stog signs are any reason to worry?

  • Daz Studio 4.22[.0.x] Pro, General Release!

UNABLE TO LOAD DAZ STUDIO 4.22

When starting Daz Studio this morning, I got a message that I need to upgrade. I went through the process of downloading the latest version of Daz Install Manager and selected Daz 4.22 to download and install. After doing so, Install Manager says the installation is complete, but that the size of the installation is only -1 bytes! The button to launch is disabled. I can no longer run Daz Studio.
I have tried numerous times now, even deleting the old Program Files/DAZ 3D folder so that maybe I could just get a completely clean install.  Again, the Install Manager will download the files, and yes I see them downloading, but then after it is done, I get the result in the attachment.  There is no longer a link to Daz Studio in my Start menu.  I don't know where the downloaded files go.  I have tried to launch it from Daz Central, but again, it will say that the program is installed, provide a button to launch it, but when I click the button nothing happens.

    ******************************************

    UPDATE !!!!!!!!!!!

Out of desperation, I restarted my computer and downloaded VS.22 again.  This time it installed correctly!  WHEW!!!!

  • A Thread for Items with the "Editorial License"

I swear that in the twenty minutes or so while I was writing some comments to a friend about inconsistency of EL, the page for Classic Space Suit went from not having an EL statement on it to having one. I don't think I missed it the first time. I'm PRETTY sure I didn't miss it the first time. Anyway it has one now.

(And it's justified. If I, someone who has never actually watched the series, can say "Hey, these are the suits from Neon Genesis Evangelion," then everyone else can see the resemblance too. Especially since the PA has deliberately chosen Asuka and Rei's hairstyles for the two models.)

It was there when I looked this morning, four or five hours before your post - for once I noticed without needing to se a forum post.

My receipt time was 07:38:45 UTC which is 0138 Central time. and when I put it in my cart it had a standard license.

I started loading my cart at 0115

So it had to have changed before I checked out as it shows an EL in my library

  • Install manager - How do I filter the list to see the stuff I bought

Puting updates in their own section is surely useful, it separates the new version of soemthing you have already downloaded from the stuff you may have deliberately skipped downloading.

DIM doesn't (yet) have a Grid view like Daz Central, but it can have pictures (replacing the geenric icon, and showing in a pop-up tool-tip when the mouse is hovered iover the item) - select the irtems, right-click>Retrieve Thumbnail.

Thanks Richard. I realise it's early days for the replacement. I suppose sometimes I can't leave the day job behind when I see something I feel could be improved...

Speaking for myself, I'm an old, cranky software support analyst by day; I can never really turn it off.

  • Need help with Small Breasts Morphs (vol 1-4) for G8F by Anagord

My favourite character has a very small chest (her body fat ratio consistent over her whole frame). I often find the clothing seems to bulge between her breasts, frequently by almost enough to convince you she has a central third breast. Looks quite unfortunate sometimes. I do wish I understood projection morphs so I could fix this. Does anyone know if there is a written (not video, please) tutorial anywhere explaining them? Regards, Richard.

My understanding is the only way we can affect projected morphs, is by adding rigidity, which doesn't really make sense in normal clothing.

I have tried to see if I could do something to improve it, but had to give up.

Would be happy if there was some way we could influence how projected morphs work.

A projection morphs is an alternative shape that can be used to project into the clothing, rather than using the actual morph. That can, for example, smooth out fine details that shouldn't be reflected in the clothing. In this case it might help to dent the sternum in, so that the cloth over it was pulled in (in the real morph that area is not moving and so the cloth stays put, leaving a ridge).

Sickleyield ever developed a series of products named Breasts Helper(s) that used projection morphs. And she also wrote a tutorial in here - https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/journal/Tutorial-Creating-Dialed-Projection-Morphs-482940785

    So DazCentral is defunct now?

    From @Daz_Steve:

Trying to support both has created a lot of problems.  We ran some A/B testing to see what most customers preferred (existing and new), and DIM performed better than Daz Central.  Due to that, we did some updates to improve DIM and will be phasing central out.  We are also looking to take some of the most popular features of Central and add them in DIM soon, however.

Since Daz Central was discontinued by Daz, so pls always use DIM to download and install productsfrom now on...

First completely close DS, install Catalyzer with DIM. After instalation, see if you can locate LAMH2Iray Catalyzer in Installed tab as per the screenshot 1.  Plugin DLL files should be in "plugins" folder under DS application path.

Then launch DS, go to the menu ~ Help - About Installed Plugins... check if LAMH2Iray Catalyzer plugin is there. If it is, enter the serial number in the blank field. As per the screenshot 2.

Restart DS. You'll find the plugin under Windows - Panes (Tabs). as Screenshot 3.

I will try it as I gave up the other day on it.

Why are they getting rid of Daz Central?  I really liked the functionality and look of the app.  DIM just seems underdeveloped to me.  I guess I'm going to have to get used to it now though.

  • Underrepresented Styles, Themes, Eras

I would like to see a nice central European suburb. (Maybe located in France or Germany.)  Perhaps a small cul-de-sac with some two-storey detached houses (not villas) with small front gardens etc.. Nothing old-fashioned like a half-timbered house, just normal houses.
If there were interiors for the houses to buy later, that would be perfect.
The majority of the available houses are (of course) very American. If there is something European, then it's usually more in the Italian/Spanish style or old-fashioned, which unfortunately doesn't quite have the flair I would like.

Try reinstalling Genesis 8 Starter Essentials, or at least the female version if using Central/Install Manager.

Reviving this thread because this same issue beset me just today (in my case, it decided all G8Fs were Midori).  I didn't find "just don't use Smart Content" a meaningful solution, particularly because my library is several thousand items long, but uninstalling/reinstalling G8F Starter Essentials in DIM did the trick for me.
