tutorial for working with multiple characters and setting up environments?
Welcome to the forums, irenedotpeter! :)
Are you using DAZ Studio or another program? If you are using DAZ Studio, you can load Victoria 4 and Michael 4 from the Content Library pane. You'll find them in Poser Formats>My Library*>Figures>DAZ People.
I don't know of a tutorial that covers working with multiple figure. Two things that new users sometimes struggle with--I know I did--are how to load the second figure, and how to select the appropriate character when there are two or more that have loaded in the same exact location. If you have one character loaded and wish to add a second, it helps to deselect the first figure--do this by clicking on a blank part of the screen. Then you can load another figure and the software won't think you're trying to replace the one you already have. If you go to the Scene Pane you'll see a list of everything in the scene; just click on the name of the figure or prop that you want to work with in order to select it. I hope this helps but if it's still not clear, feel free to ask for clarification.
Not sure what you mean by "create the interior room." Are you trying to build a room from scratch, or have you purchased a product that includes an interior room, and you would like to know how to load it? Or, are you asking which product you need to buy in order to have the room featured in the Reflections Furniture promo images? (I think it's the Reflections Victorian Bedroom).
*Or whatever the name of the folder is where your content is installed. If you installed the content using the Install Manager, it might be called "My DAZ 3D Library."
Dynamic GiThe belt is a particular hard piece to keep in position specially for a more advanced pose like sitting on a chair. I suggest setting the clothes to collide with a primitive and animate the primitive as a helper to keep the belt from sinking, other wise you might have to postwork it. In Michael 4 the gi conforms (although with pokethru) and on a sitting pose the belt might stay over the gi good enough so you can have a usable render for postwork in an image editor. Granted a little stiff as all conforming clothes are.
I wish DAZ and Optitex would develop more this plugin so we could have other options like a live simulation where one can just pull the belt up with the mouse and the physics engine corrects the simulation.
Athletic Supporter for M3No, I'm not talking about someone who buys season tickets to the local high school's home games.
I need to "clothe" a Michael 3 character for a locker-room scenario, to make him (more or less) TOS-compliant. In short, and not to put too fine a point on it, I want to put him in an "athletic supporter', a.k.a. and colloquially known as the good ol' 'jock strap'. (God, I so hated having to wear those things in high school! In fact, I was ready and willing to flunk PhysEd just so I wouldn't have to!)
That particular article of under-clothing seems to be pretty hard to find. I've searched all the usual places (DAZ, ShareCG, Rendo, RDNA), and found precisely one.
I located one on Renderosity (which I purchased - kudos to SickleYield for recognizing the need for such a product), but it's for Michael 4.
Does anyone know where I can find one for M3 or, failing that, some suggestions on where to find, or create, a fit morph for the SickleYield SuperJock for M4H4?
I'm sure the forum administrators will appreciate all over you. (As will I.)

I'm using Daz Studio 4.6 Pro. I tried with different characters (genesis, Michael 4, Victoria 5, etc), but no results (neither in the viewport nor after a render).
What's wrong?!I saw your PM before I saw this so I have just sent instructions to you. Let me know if you are still having issues.

What's wrong?!V4 UV issue for Genesis 2 Female and Genesis (to a lesser degree)Happily, I am a stubborn fool and kept working at the neck and back uvs on Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Males. I actually managed to straighten it out. Glad to see the V4 leg seams are not an issue anymore, either. Expect this UV fix as an update very soon.
Downloading and Installing DAZ Studio: a guide and FAQWhat is the item you're installing? Morphs for figures usually need to be installed in the same place as the base figure, so you'll want to make sure you install the required items first. Some of the base packages:
Genesis Starter Essentials
Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials
Genesis 2 Male Starter Essentials
Default Lights and Shaders for DAZ Studio
Victoria 4.2 Base
Michael 4 BaseUsing DAZ Install Manager can help you find packages you may have missed.
Using Daz for figure/gesture sketching, which content?existe11 said:Thank you Icprncss for that information, most helpful. Any disadvantages to investing in Genesis 1 when Genesis 2 is out? or any reason to jump into Genesis 2 instead?Genesis 1 is a very versatile figure. With G1, you have a fairly complete and well-tested set at hand in regards to morphs and skin-textures.
G2, being "younger", doesn't have as many add-ons and characters yet. This is especially true when it comes to male characters. But both, G1 and G2, have advantages and disadvantages. :-)
I'm using both generations, and also the 'old' Victoria/Michael 4, which belong to the generation before G1/G2.M4 bone problems during 3DXchange to iCloneHi there. Still new and eager to learn more about daz3D. I have been stumped by this rigging problem and can't seem to find an answer myself, so I thought I should ask the DAZ3D experts here for help.
I'm using DAZ 3D Michael 4. My plan is to export him to iClone 5 by using 3DXchange 5.5. But during export I have encountered some problem. The spine in M4 seemed to be disconnected from the hip bone. Please see the attached image.
In Reallusion 3DXchange tutorials, I read that it happened because the provided rigging preset (daz3D_Genesis rigging preset) didn't match M4's rigging.
I have to use M4. Is there any solution for this back ache?
Need Help on Pointed FeetRichard Haseltine said:That's the actual Michael 4 figure, not the Michael 4 shape for Genesis? And the shoes are for Michael 4? Which are they?I am using the Michael 4.cr2 from 2008, before I name the shoes, after further experimenting, it seems the problem comes from trying to fit a shoe to M4. When I do that the once level boot automatically points the heel away from the foot. I had a large scene with several models and just broke this one M4 out to a separate scene to see whats happening. In any event that seems to be the problem.
So I cant fit a shoe to M4 without it bending. Any idea on why this is happening?

Usiliteplus Hardcore M4 - Jacket issueAh Finally!
Oh one thing to make your instructions clearer for future noobs:
1. Under Scene - Click on the jacket "hd_jacketM4"
2. Click the Parameters Tab on the right side of the active view screen
3. Under the Parameters Tab click on HD_jacketM4(this will reveal General and Display)
4. Click on the little arrow next to General (this will reveal Misc and Display)
5. Click on Misc (On the right you will see 2 option buttons Point At and Fit To)
6. If you see None on the fit to button click on it
7. In the dialogue Box that pops up it will ask what you want to fit "hd_jacketM4" to
8. click the drop down and choose Michael 4
9 Verify that "parent to target" is checked
10. Click AcceptTry pose changes to make sure the jacket now moves with Michael 4
Now I wonder why this item does not attach itself properly when I load it like the other items.
I even rebooted and tried this with a new scene with just the jacket and M4....
How can I report this to the product designer?

Usiliteplus Hardcore M4 - Jacket issueOn the Parameters Tab, click on the small arrow next to the "General" Item. Select the Misc item, and a small list of options will appear, one of which is the "Fit To" option. If it says "None", click on the button and select Michael 4.

V4 UV issue for Genesis 2 Female and Genesis (to a lesser degree)I just wanted to reply publicly on this issue, though my reply is meant for UV conversions in general, not directly related to this particular issue. The UVs for V4 Genesis 2 were done by Mallenlane, and if I'm not mistaken, so were those for Genesis. Not entirely sure.
What I wanted to point out relates to texture stretching and distortion moreso than seams lining up or not lining up. Let's say those markings were meant to go in a specific line down the figure's legs (maybe they are, I don't know). In many cases, we can control where the uvs line up on the new figure, such as getting nipples or navels to hit the right location. However, in some cases the flow of the geometry just will not allow us to line them up exactly where they would fall on the original figure. Close, maybe, but not exact.
Take the following example, from my own M4 for Genesis 2 product. It was pointed out to me that a neck tattoo at the back of the head was supposed to be a circle, but on my uvs it came out more of an egg shape. I have been fighting with this, trying to find a solution, but in this case making the neck on Genesis 2 Male match the neck on Michael 4 is just not possible. The G2M neck zone is much "taller" than Michael 4, so if I reshape the zone to fit Michael 4's neck, it gets squashed down, which results in a stretched texture. No amount of redirecting the uv's will fix this. So, while I have managed to smooth out several areas on the M4 uvs, giving much better and smoother tattoos, the neck is just one area that will not be improved.
Here is a picture with the Genesis 2 Male neck uvs overlaid on Michael 4 neck uvs. You can see the extreme change in G2M to get it to match the shape of M4. The rest of the body is not such an extreme change, so it converts very well, but not the neck. As for making textures follow certain line, such as a stripe up the side of the leg, that will work sometimes as long as the stripe doesn't run in an area that has polygons flowing in a dramatically different way.
So, I just ask that readers try to understand that uv conversion is not going to be perfect, although we try to get as close as possible. Making seams match up is a different story altogether, and sometimes we miss an area because we don't have every texture to test. My updated M4 for Genesis 2 Male UV's will be submitted to DAZ QA very soon, but I want to attempt a genitalia uv conversion first so I can submit them together. No promises on this one, but I will give it a try. If I can get it to work properly, I will include a Genesis version as a bonus.
