    Thanks for your help guys.

If I buy the following: "V4 Skins Auto Converter for Genesis 2 Female(s)"

Do I need to buy "Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female" too?

What about M4 to Genesis 2 Male ?

You'll need Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female and Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male if you want to use their textures. The auto-converter is only to make it easier to apply the materials and does not give you the necessary UV sets to make them look correct.

i wonder how long the big sale for Michael 4 and Victoria 4 will last. I checked my email inbox but I didn't see any messages about the sale or when the sale will end.

  • Any good male genitals?

I have just submitted an update to Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male that now includes genital mapping for M4 textures. It is a free update and should be released very soon, so look for it in your Product Library or DIM.

  • Now Available! PRODUCT UPDATE: Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male, now with Gens Maps

I am very excited to be presenting this update. First, let me say thank-you for purchasing, or considering purchase of, Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male. A lot of work was put into this to make it a great product. I have reworked the UVs, smoothing out some areas especially at the back seam to make tattoos and other designs appear much better than before. See the pics below to see the differences.

In a previous update, I reworked the autofit clone to make gloves fit better than before. The key with the gloves is to not use the "gloves" template when autofitting. The template will override my changes and make the gloves fit badly again. It also helps to add a smoothing modifier to the gloves, although it is not completely necessary anymore.

The newest addition is the Michael 4 UV's for the Genesis 2 Male Genitalia. The reason this has been so difficult in the past, as with Genesis, is because the Michael 4 Gens is a prop that attaches over the hip/pubic bone area of Michael 4, whereas the Genesis and Genesis 2 Gens are geografted onto the hip area. Geografting involves replacing geometry on the figure with another piece of geometry, in this case it is the genital figure. On Michael 4 Gens, part of the pubic area above the genital was made transparent, allowing for the torso and hip texture to show through and blend in with the genital texture. To recreate that for Genesis 2 on a geografted figure was quite a challenge. I took the pubic/hip texture straight from the torso map on Michael 4, and took the genital texture from the Michael 4 genital map. The genital map is much larger than the matching area on the torso map, so making them match detail for detail seems impossible. So, to hide the seam between the two areas, I created a SeamCover prop, which is parented and fit to Genesis 2 Male and draws its texture from the torso map. A transparency map is then used to blend the edges of the SeamCover so that Genesis 2 Male Genitalia's hip and genital skin maps can show through partially. This results in a pleasing blend that is virtually undetectable (except maybe in extreme closeups and odd angles). It is not perfect, but is certainly a very acceptable substitute to not being able to use Michael 4 genital textures at all.

Unfortunately, this is not a "one‐click" solution, and there are some steps involved to make it work, but I am hoping that is something you, the user, will be willing to accept for the convenience of having Michael 4's genital textures available. A full PDF explaining step by step on applying the gen uvs and textures, as well as the SeamCover, will be included in a "Readme" folder with your update.

I obviously can't show actual pictures of the genitalia here, but I have mocked up an example below with a really tacky texture. The pics are in the next post, due to a 5 picture limitation per post.

  • if i have Poser and Daz Studio can I combine characters?

What you are proposing sounds fine, however you don't need Poser at all to use that Edinburgh character. If you have Michael 4 and Michael 4 Morphs++ you can load and use the character directly in DAZ Studio. As mentioned by others, though, you would have to make some manual adjustments to the skin surfaces for best results.

I was wondering if anyone knows any good male genitals for Genesis? Or for M4 since I'm getting Genesis Generation X

I don't care if its free or not. (Although I prefer one thats in the shop so it will install through Install Manager)

Jepe has an morph expansion set available for the M4 genitals, but you'll have to google search for the website to buy them.

For Jepe's genitals I need M4 genitals? Which I think comes in Michael 4 ++Morphs?
Is it the same of Victoria 4?

You do need M4 genitals for Jepe's to work. I'm not sure what, if any, genitals V4 has.

    - Axe Sword
    - Doublecutter Sword
    - Knife
    - Pickaxe
    - Bonegrip Sabre
    - Elegant Sabre

60 Smart Props (.DUF, .PP2 and .OBJ):

And hand Poses for each Prop for Michael 4, Victoria 4, Genesis, Genesis 2 Female(s) and Genesis 2 Male(s) (.DUF, .PZ2 and .HD2)

Ps. In the family portrait below, the "bonegrip" sabre Michael 4 is holding looks rather small compared to the one Vicky 6 has, but they are actually at the same size.

Yeah, that looks like all you'll need at that start. Later on, I'd also recommend the creature creator morphs and the muscularity morphs, as well as ZeV0's Aging and shape shift morphs.

You might also want to get DieTrying's morphs that Sickleyield converted which just pushes what you can do with customizing Genesis further... and they're free! http://www.sharecg.com/v/58198/favorite/21/DAZ-Studio/DieTryings-182-V4-Morphs-for-Genesis?interstitial_displayed=Yes

Textures are no problem. Even without the V4/M4 shapes, Genesis can use the V4 textures out of the box. That goes for V4 Clothing, too. M4 does well enough with the Auto-fitting, but from my experience, better to get the M4/V4 shapes.

A4, you'll need the A4 shape for Genesis (which is bundled with the H4 or get the iconic set which includes F4 and Girl 4).

Character Morphs, you need V4 and M4 (and also A4 and such if you plan on exporting those, too) and Morphs++ first to export with Gen X. Without those, you'll only be able to use the skin textures.

    Vendor: Morris
    Product: Trey for M4
Trey is a male character morph and dark skinned texture for Michael 4. He comes with several options for facial hair and eye color. He even has a choice for more or less bushy eyebrows. He has optional painted head hair and optional tattoo. He has optional shaved or body hair textures. He comes with genital texture, although I didn't test it. You can also choose optional painted on red or black briefs. So, you can see that you can have quite a few combinations. Trey renders very well, with his default settings. In the images here, I rendered with Trey's default settings and the same lights I used for Beck. I was pleased with the results overall.

This is an older character, and there are a couple things that bothered me a little about the textures. The red and black briefs have some strange colored splotches and text on the back that must be a mistake. The skin color transition is too abrupt for me between the dark skin and the light palm and foot. The skin texture has baked in specular highlights that may look out of place if they don't match your lighting.

Edit: in the interest of thoroughness, I went back and tried the genital texture. Yup, it works fine, but of course I can't post it here. :red:

Continuing on your Morris theme: here's a quick look at Falcon for M4

I picked him up in the recent "Single Life" promotion having seen the texture used in the promos for the Ethnicity for Genesis bundle.
The first two images are Falcon out of the box (by which I mean that I'm actually using M4 rather than a Genesis figure, which is unusual for me these days!) As you can see, he's quite vein-y.
He's wearing Duarte Hair by 3Dream/Mairy and the cargo shorts from M4 Casual Wear by DAZ 3D/Lobo75.
Lights are from InaneGlory's Photo Studio 3 (the Photo Studio Lights X1 set) augmented with an Advanced Spotlight at 40% intensity.
Background is from InaneGlory's Photo Studio 2 (the Prop2 Back Drop out of the box).
In the second render I swapped his default texture for the "hairy" body and "scruffy" face - for this close-up I turned down the lights a bit so his teeth didn't entirely dazzle me (they are very white). He has four eye colours, but I've left these at the default dark brown shade.
The last image shows two of the "tribal make-up" options. (The figure on the right has Soto's Shaved Hair for Michael 4, a freebie from ShareCG).

Beck for M4 (DAZ 3D, Morris)
    http://www.daz3d.com/beck-for-m4

    Other items used:
Classic Deco (DAZ 3D, Jack Tomalin)
Berlin City Spirit Fashion for Genesis 2 Male(s) (outoftouch)
Pure Hair: Rock n' Roll (DAZ 3D)
    Michael 6 HD Add-On (DAZ 3D)
Advanced DAZ Studio Light Bundle (Age of Armour)
Real Light HDR Gels - Bulbs (DimensionTheory)
Reinterject for Genesis 2 Female(s) (DAZ 3D, DimensionTheory)
    Skies of Economy (DimensionTheory)
Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male (Slosh)
    Skin Overlay Bundle (Zev0, DraagonStorm)

Inspired by barbult's renders of Beck I thought I would try applying his textures to G2M. I got him as part of the Michael 4 Pro Bundle during the Giveaway promotion. The result was I got lots of content for free which I haven't used yet since I do not use Gen 4 figures. Barbult's renders got me curious about Beck and when I went to his store page it turned out I have him so I thought it was as good a time as any to try to render him.

To use his textures on G2M I first applied his materials (I chose the default ones which are the same as TorsoHair1) to genesis 1 and saved them as duf. materials preset. However since I did not like the shader he came with, I applied Bjorn's AoA SSS materials ( Michael 6 HD Add-On ) to G2M first (the shape I used is a random dial-spin) and then changed his maps to Beck ones (which meant I didn't need to save them as duf first). I left the Bjorn AoA SSS settings untouched. The veins displacement also came with Beck. I also changed his eyes to one of Bree's for G2F with Reinterject for Genesis 2 Female(s) applied. The light is one AoA AAL and one AoA ASL with Real Light HDR Gels - Bulbs gobo applied to it. The only postwork is DOF and Auto Contrast applied in PS.

Edit: I added a second image. For the lights this time I used SoE-Sunny9 preset from Skies of Economy (one Distant and UE2). Even though I reduced the SSS strength down to 50% and upped the diffuse strength to 70% the skin still looks too orange to me. The only postwork in this one is DOF added in PS. I also noticed that something weird happened to the pants, they deformed on the calves. I will have to try to correct that.

The seam which you can see on his neck was of course a silly mistake on my part (different displacement % on the neck and face). When I render a fixed version I will update this post.

Edit: I've added my latest attempt at rendering Beck on G2M. I removed his displacements maps because I did not like the look of the veins that came with him and added some using Zev0's Overlays. The SSS strength is 70%, diffuse 50% and I reduced both specular strengths to 15% and 5% respectively. I forgot to change them on the lip as well so it looks too shine (as if he were wearing lipstick). The lights are inspired by Jared's tutorial he posted on youtube. I would recommend it to anyone interested in how the promos for the latest g2 figures were set up. Instead of UE2 I used one AoA AAL and used a free backdrop by Aeon--Soul which you can get from their deviantart page. I'm not entirely happy with how Beck looks in my render but it seems to me that I'm on the right path to making his materials usable on G2M. There is no postwork on this image.

I did a test. Didn't use any helper and the belt stay over the jacket. The jacket goes first on the Garment list and I see you have set this correctly. I made the jacket collide with the pants and M4 from the thighs up and the pants collide just with Michael 4 from the abdomen down. Do not make the pants collide with the jacket, just the jacket with the pants.

Also if you are using Hiro 4, being a Generation 4 figure you can make a static drape, might be easier than an animated drape. Animated drapes are necessary only if the clothes are rigged for generation 4 and are being used with Genesis 1 and 2 since the rig structure changed.

    brucekeefe said:
    Hi,

I would like to use the sample Jeremy/Lana wetsuit for the Genesis character on a Genesis 2 character - any ideas? I would be happy to purchase a wetsuit for Genesis2, but it would need to be the same on the female/male character (essentially painted on the body) as it is for the Genesis version.

I have been unable to find details of the difference between Genesis and Genesis 2 characters, so would be interested to hear of these. I am primarily interested in morphing between male and female characters (using the morph bundles) and applying motion tracked kinematics to these characters using IPI Mocap Studio 2. Which version of the Genesis characters would be best suited to this purpose?

Thanks in advance for any help

    Bruce

The Lana wetsuit for Genesis is an alternate skin texture. The wetsuit is painted on the skin. This skin texture uses V4 UVs. If you have Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female you can apply it to Genesis 2 Female. It is already in DUF format so it will just work.

The Jeremy wetsuit fof Genesis is an alternate skin texture that uses the M4 UVs. If you have Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male you can apply it to Genesis 2 Male.

The Genesis 1 base figure can morph to either male of female shapes. Genesis 2 has separate male and female base figures. In principal the Genesis 2 figures are optimized to morph to male or female body shapes, while the Genesis 1 base figure has some compromises to allow it to morph to either male or female figures. The Genesis 2 figures have more polygons in the face area that allow more detail in facial expressions. The Genesis 2 figures have better bending at the shoulders, elbows and knees that does not stretch and distort the skin texture as much.

Genesis 2 also has HD morphing technology, which apparently allows morphs to shape the subdivided polygons of a figure. This technology is relatively new, and there is only limited support currently. The Aging Morphs 2 Bundle HD is an example of a morph bundle that uses this technology.

I am not familiar with IPI Mocap Studio, so I cannot comment on this.

  • Contest and challenge: Spinning "Sci-Fi Aiko"

And..., another. And just under the wire, too!

Title: "The Sorceress and Her Supplicant"
And the Sorceress is NOT pleased...!
    Items Used:
    Aiko 3
Annette head morph and texture (a shareCG freebie, I think.... It's been a while since I last used it; as in, like, never!)
Solis fantasy outfit for Aiko 3 by EvilInnocence (another freebie I found on ShareCG way back when...!)
    Aiko 3 Hooded Cloak
Full Circle texture for the Hooded Cloak
    Donna Hair
    Michael 4
    Rock Star Hair
Alex for M4 (head morph and skin texture)
    DMs Secret Chamber

Yep, believe it or not, that's really Aiko 3; our little Anime girl is all grown up! (And apparently, up to something seriously sinister!)

I decided to go the Fantasy route for this one (since Sci-Fi and Fantasy tend to get lumped into the same 'uber-genre', for some obscure Dewey-Decimal rationale that's never made a whole lot of sense to me). And in that vein, I thought I'd hearken back to the 'Spinning Vicky' contest with a bit of 'NNAIATWoAS' (Nearly-Naked Aiko In A Temple With(out) A Sword).

Composed and rendered in Poser Pro 2012. Background image from 'A Certain Night' added in postwork because, for some reason, Poser puts background images in the alpha channel, and the alpha channel doesn't export; GIMP, to be precise. (Yeah, I know I said I hate to do it because I suck at it, but sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and "git 'er done!")
