Face Transfer
i bought the Face Transfer plugin and everyything seems to work fine...
....... then i render, and it looks like my characters are wearing blackface
i tried to color the lips in the surface area...but they come out looking like a bad clown lol
any suggestions to fix this?
Face TransferMost of my DS compositions are character based, and as a writer I use Daz to create characters, sometimes for book covers, but I always want unique characters so that none of mine ever appear anywhere else. I began with Genesis and Genesis 2; skipped 3, but so far only have one created from the G8F (I've found I always get better results with G2), so I bought the Face Transfer in part for to help with G8, but mostly in preparation for G9 when it eventually appears. I've used FaceGen for when an actual person inspires a character, usually an actor or actress, but with mostly poor results. However, I've tried a 3 experiments with Face Transfer and each one has been closer to the photograph than I ever got with FaceGen, though so far I've not saved any as I've not had the time to do the necessary tweaking which is essential, and that can take hours.
Re Zilvergrafix "Real faces" above, the Natalie Portman rendition is more disappointing than I would have expected considering the short hair. Other photos I've tried where there's hair touching or just covering the jaw and cheekbones have all failed, as above, as there's always that sharp jawline distortion. Another photo I tried in which the hair was short also had some red-tinged lighting, so on using Face Transfer half of the face came out a totally different colour! I would have preferred Face Transfer not to add skin colour as that can be done to one's preferences independently.
I think there's information in my tutorial which may be of interest for your projects.
The sharp jaw morphing ... the lighting needs to be more even as the plugin appears to be reading the "light" of the face as the edge of the face.
After you have saved as a scene subset THROUGH the plugin, then you can tweak the images which will be located in your texture folders.
Face Transferwhy I get message like this 'face transfer failed to generate try a different source image' pls help me!
One reason can be that it is not a "head" ... one of the images I used in my tutorial illustrates that. If all you have is a close-up on the face, in an image editor put it inside a "head" frame and try again.
Teen Raven thoughts...Teen Raven 8... Well, this character would take some work. I tweaked the skin so much, I barely remember what all I did. I think I dropped the Diffuse Overlay Weight down 0.8 for the makeup, Translucency down to .25, Bump down to 3.5, plus fiddled endlessly with the eyes to try and get the sclera to not be brown (never worked unless I cleared the Base Color Map). I don't think the skin is bad overall, it just takes some fine tuning to make it look decent. And no, that morph doesn't look like a teen. She looks early to mid twenties to me. I think that might come down to the detail on the skin, though. The right texture would probably change that.
RTX Benchmark thread...show me the powerThe missing morph files are just an artifact of how it was originally saved, and make no impact. What you can do is load the scene and then save it again without making any changes. This will save it without those morphs, so if you load it up again you will no longer get those errors and it will load faster.RTX Benchmark thread...show me the powerwas going to try bench with my new 2070 super, but there are files missing in the scene:
data/daz 3d/genesis 2/female/morphs/daz 3d/base/fbmemaciated.dsf
data/daz 3d/genesis 2/female/morphs/daz 3d/base/fbmpearfigure.dsf
data/daz 3d/genesis 2/female/morphs/daz 3d/base/phmearselflong.dsf
anyway, rendered, but no idea where these numbers are you guys are lisitng. Mine only says at the end ..
Total Rendering Time: 42.9 seconds I have RTX 2070 Super CPU AMD 3800X
So if I'm following correctly ...RTX 2070 Super/DS4.12.0.86/600/42.9 =13.986
Don't use the "Total Rendering Time" figure. Once the scene has completed, save the image and then go to the log file. The final line should look something like this:
2019-10-06 16:09:47.528 Iray [INFO] - IRAY:RENDER :: 1.0 IRAY rend info : CUDA device 0 (GeForce RTX 2080 Ti): 600 iterations, 2.958s init, 28.806s render
Use the final render time (28.806s in the example above) and divide 600 by that to get the mega samples/sec.
Also, I get a long list of missing morph files too. Doesn't seem to make much difference to the final times recorded.
Facegen now on sale...get it!Hello everybody!
I bought FaceGen Artist Pro 2.1, the latest version as of this post. It has been noticed not only by me but by many users that the software generates a deformation of the eyes and Jaw, which compromises its facial and orbital axis expression when closing it. I have already contacted the software manufacturer, but there is no precise date for a fix.https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/279156/asking-facegen-artist-pro-users
Export the base resolution mesh with it dialed in
use morphloader and select attenuate by surface choose face and create morph one
do it again choose lips and create morph 2
then once more choose head/torso create morph 3
maybe ears etc if needed depends on how much out
dial those all in and not the Facegen morph
export that obj
use that one in morphloader to create your fixed morph and save it as support asset morph and drill down to the right box and check it
Keeping genesis 8 females configurationSave as a scene file and then Merge that scene file into your other scene. This will drop everything from the character setup scene (girl, hair, clothes, lights, cameras) into the new one
Your orher options:
To save a clothed, posed figure into your library Save as Scene Subset and choose the figure with parented items to save
To save a naked , zero pose, but morphed and textured character Save as Character Preset
To save just the textures Save as Materials Preet
and to save just the morph settings Save As Shaping Preset
Separating morphs into Head/Upper Neck & Body? There is a dForm preset included with DS that has a weight map just the head and neck - you can export the morph as OBJ, then reimport through Morph Loader pro and use that weight map to attenuate the morph so you get only the ehad or only the body, with a smooth blend. However, any JCMs or jont adjustments wil need to be reapplied so it may be a decidedly non-trivial taks in some cases.
eGPU - anyone try this or know about them?I'm using an eGPU (Sonnet Breakaway Box 550 with a MSI 1070ti inside) attached to a NUC for rendering and I'm pretty happy with the setup. It allows me to use my laptop to setup the scenes, sync them to my NUC and start a batch job there to render them there while I make other scenes and/or do other stuff. If you plan to use the eGPU attached to your laptop, keep in mind that this thing is bulky, the thunderbolt3 cables are really, REALLY short (they have to transfer insane bitrates), and it basically transforms your laptop into a desktop, loosing all versatility. Also the thing is heavy, which means that you (probably) won't be able to take it with you when you travel, so you won't be able to make any renders during that time. Being attached to a NUC gives you the options to upgrade pretty easily not having to worry about power supply, box dimensions, motherborad confiurations, etc.
The bad... well, as weird as that sounds, it's not big enough. They've released it before the release of the RTX 20xx series and it turns out that most of the 2080ti cards don't fit for half of a centimeter or so. Which leaves you with just a handful of choices if you decide to put those monsters inside. The PSU can handle them easily, because it's 375W dedicated for the GPU only, but they just don't fit inside.
Sculptural Genesis 8 Ultra Fun Kit [Commercial]Even more fun with Sculptural and Face Transfer together.
Canary3D, you are a genius and your products serve well our Daz 3D community.
Thanks again for creating such an amazing and useful product.
Facegen now on sale...get it!@Bobvan still haven't tried the demo of transfer I'm pretty happy with Facegen at least everyone has few choices now what to use. This is my latest the face is from Generated Faces which are faces created combining features of different people to create someone new that doesn't exist. Used Facegen morph not at 100% which also altered in facegen has several sliders to alter shape of different parts of the face plus morphs from different morph packs bought in Daz Studio

DAZ Studio 4.12 ... Face creation abilities????I'm pretty happy with this silly little result, although I should have spent some time manually tweaking the auto-created morph. Like others have said, this tool isn't quite ready for close-ups (partially because it doesn't create any other maps than diffuse), but for medium distances, it really does make recognizable characters. Just make sure you use large photos with balanced lighting (that is *REALLY* important).
looks good to me
[Released] RSSY Clothing Converter from Michael 4 to Genesis 8 Male [Commercial]Worth downloading and making another attempt. Is it likely to be live yet?
No, I would expect it mid-week next week.
While we are all waiting for the update, could you please consider request for the another product.
As you know, Face Transfer was released by Daz3D and it was exactly what, I was looking after.
It is based on the same technology, that I have available in Unity.
However it has some problems with the lips created from the photos

They are too flat.
I do not know, if it is possible, but I think, if one could create some corrective morphs (maybe SickleYield could do)
and then applying them with your scripts would make face transfer more appealing.
Maybe there are some other improvements, that could be done, as well.
I am only not so sure, if such product will be economically viable.
All the best for You and SickleYield.
Hi @Artini. Thanks, I will mention it to Sickleyield.
Face TransferOk so I reinstalled daz like 5 times now last time I reinstalled everythig ! but I keep getting a "plugin failed to load" error I have attached screenshot of the error and the version im running does anyone know what might be wrong ?
This may be the issue with the required Visual C++ Runtime:
The Face Transfer plugin failing to load on some machines may be due to a dependent library (e.g., msvcp140.dll) that does not exist on the user's machine. If this is the case, until we update the package to either include the VS 2015 redistributable or we can get a 3rd party library compiled with an earlier version of the compiler, users that experience this issue can download/install "Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015" from Microsoft @ https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 and this should resolve the issue.

is there a Face Transfer threadSorry if I missed it somewhere on the thread, but how are people getting the head shapes with face transfer? Every time I try It's like someone just peeled off the skin and slapped it onto the gen8 base model..Are you shaping the faces/heads manually? Or is face transfer supposed to be able to follow facial structure as well?
I, more or less had the same experience & since I read that the code is a 3rd party plugin & not developed by DAZ 3D, I returned it.
Nylon Pantyhose for Genesis 8 Female (Commercial)Is this a kind of Second Skin texture, a geometry shell or actual mesh?
I would imagine that it's the along the lines of the PAs Nylon Stockings set in the store.
Looking forward to this!
Still can't tell whether this is a second skin or a geo-shell or a separate mesh. The disadvantage of the mesh is that I have never seen a perfect fit - they tend to show a gap to the skin or poke through but rarely fit precisely. The disadvantage of the second-skin texture is that they are just that: textures. No ability to morph them, roll them down or stretch them in any manner.
Do you know

Do you know how to make second-skin textures and the gelo-Shell world in DAZ Studio 4. X?
Or any tutorial that can helps a begginer like me?
Do you know how to make second-skin textures meshs and geoshell? Do you know of any tutorials that would help a beginner like me create these features in DAZ Studio or Blender or Hexagon?
Exporting all Genesis 8 Female Morphs when Exporting ClothingFor the exact morphs I am using, I am using the Genesis 8 Female Body Morph pack and I want those morphs on the clothes I am exporting.
Face TransferCan someone tell me how to download the Face Transfer Unlimited trial (version)
Thank you
You don't download it. It's part of latest DS, 4.12. Windows 64 bit. It's free unlimited so long as you don't save it. You get three free saves.
