Genesis 9 animation conversions
the first ones are fine and were baked aniblocks I believe I used Bone Minion on some
others are iClone 3DX6 conversions
but
those last ones were keyframed G8 animations converted with n_alexandru's script
and in Carrara they are crazy
I need to test further if its the script or the animations themselves how they are keyframed
may be an interpolation thing
AND if it happens in D|S as I save and render them on the character after conversion
not loading the saved pose file, it could be a save issue too
Please help me get back in the game...Welcome back!
The part about the Alpha version not showing up within DIM sounds like it's due to Filters - click on that and make sure you enable the one to see the new Alpha version. For the other issue - generally you can only ever download the latest released version from the servers (and so it is advised to backup the zip file for any version you may wish to "roll back" to). However, if you have paid for a specific version that might be different - if so then that may be fixed by enabling the right filters in DIM. However, very old versions might struggle to work with newer operating systems and/or drivers.
As far as I am aware Cararra no longer gets updates - however there are some people who still use it regularly for things and so you can look for more info in that section of the forums: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/categories/carrara-discussion

Please DAZ, buy Eon Vue Infinite :D
I'm looking forward to the new version of Daz.I hope there will be more tools for editing primitives.
DAZ already has a world builder called "CARRARA".
They've just abandon it in order to kill it.
Just imagine its development with DAZ actually taking care of it.
What an amazing render stage it could have been. Just like Vue with a modeller and an IRAY renderer to it.
Slightly absetting, it never happened.more....Wacky Modelling ~ In Carrara ~Stezza said:
was listening about the new discovery on the radio this morning.... WOWSERS!

So I thought that this has to be Carrara cubed and boned

At one of Australia's oldest fossil sites in Queensland the
Wakkyaoolithus godthelpi, which once belonged to mekosuchine crocodiles, was found. This group of now extinct crocs dominated inland waters 55 million years ago.
Some were also apparently at least partly semi-arboreal 'drop crocs,'.
They were perhaps hunting like leopards—dropping out of trees on any unsuspecting thing they fancied for dinner.
a precurser to the infamous drop bear!

Ha ha love it, something else I'll be able to scare the tourists with., !
Please buy Vueyeah continued development on Bryce and Carrara would be better
there is ChatGPT now to help, many of the third party Carrara developers have made their addons opensource too which should give them more to work with
Please buy VueTo what end? Daz Studio is not just Daz's flagship software, it's the only software they actively develop. You want them to buy Vue and then do little to nothing with it, like they have with Bryce and Carrara?

Ying and Yang
Hummmm.... Don't have Ying and Yang on the list so let's just call this one MARCH = Dark & Light... lol. I'm still jealous of all you can make with Carrara Stezza! Well done indeedie :)... thanks for sharing.
The Torquinox Carrara ThreadYes a good idea. I start in Carrara sculpt in blender and 3D Boolean in 3D builder
The Torquinox Carrara ThreadIt's a thought. I prefer to do the work in Carrara. I want to see what I can do here!
more....Wacky Modelling ~ In Carrara ~thanks... Hermie the crab out and about...

I did model something today but I won't post it till tomorrow or the next day..

everything in the render was modelled in Carrara

The Torquinox Carrara ThreadAlso for splitting an obj into parts 3D builder free with win 10 has a great slicing tool . Can't recall if import and export to and from Carrara are clean though
Geometry exporting with creased edges instead of smoothedThanks, this is what I did in Carrara. But those edges refuse to change! Is there not some kind of smoothing function or export setting in Daz Studio that might prevent edges from exporting creased?
Geometry exporting with creased edges instead of smoothedNot entertaining how to do this in carrara, but in Blender go to Edit mode and then select the relevant edges (or press A to select all) and then go to Edge -> Clear Sharp and then go Clear Custom Normals or whatever it's called.
According to ChatGPT it's mostly the same process in Carrara.
Geometry exporting with creased edges instead of smoothedHi, I need help. I'm mainly a Carrara user and only sometimes use Daz Studio to do things that I cannot do in Carrara.
I'm working with the Bot morph for Genesis. If you look at the Scene elements, you'll see that geometry gets added and conformed to Genesis. My problem is that when I export the figure as an OBJ or FBX, most of the edges of the added geometry are creased when I import it into Carrara. And I can do nothing in Carrara to smooth those edges!
You will notice the creases in a quick render from Carrara, especially noticeable in the head and shoulders. Is there a solution to this?
Does anyone lnow wha the Camera Plane does?If you watch animated movies, sometimes you can see animation and scenes that look kind of 3D but they are 2D, quite often these are called 2.5
When you treat 2D scene object like 3D but don't go 3D route. For example parallax effect of background and scene and characters/objects, 2.5D background to me is a background that is made of few different 2D planes that create illusion of depth as if it was 3D space but it is made of 2D objects.
For example, in Carrara you could create an entire animation made of plane objects, one for background, others for scene objects, and a group of plane objects for your character, arrange them in a manner that you could feel the distance or space between them, but animate and visualize it just as a 2D world.
nice example is in this animated movie:https://youtu.be/AbCplD9s25k
00:53 time stamp shows very beautiful 2.5D scene
