  • 3D Printing Licences - What?

For the record, Oct. 2003 was when the first forum was added. Prior to Oct. 2003 the DAZ site didn't have a message board. My official start date was January of 2003.

Prior to Jan. 2003 I had been purchasing items through Zygote.

If memory serves, Victoria 3 was released in December 2002, which was the unofficial start of DAZ's online business.

  • Diffeomorphic DAZ Importer Version 1.5.1

    joaohenriques said:

I'm using Diffeo for the merge geocrafts function so I can export to Unreal a single mesh.

At the moment I have a almost perfect solution... Diffeo to Blender, apply Morphs to both meshes and then merge geocraft, finally, use the official Blender to Unreal from Epic to export.

its 99% complete... I have a rigged character with all the morphs and 90% of the materials correct! the problem are the materials from the geocrafts (in the case the genitals), I always get the material UV connected to the torso and not the the actual maps of the Genitals (for example Golden Palace or even the official Daz genitalia). I've tried to move the UDIM to layers 2 like in the tutorials from Diffeo, and also the merge UV layers but nothing... I believe its sometrhing to due with the fact that the correct UVs of the genitals are in fact inside that have there one UVmaps but I cannot understand how to use them in unreal... was anyone able to do this?

The new Diffeomorphic version 1.6.2 still doesn't import custom geograft UVs (Those that use geoshells to get materials), however the official Victoria 8 genital map and its UV can be imported, for this reason I have to switch to Victoria 8 genital and create new genital maps for different characters.

    Padone said:

@Intycert You have to export the HD version for HD teeth to work fine, otherwise you get the base resolution version of the teeth, that's the same you get in daz studio if you disbale the HD morph.

    @joaohenriques

Most geografts use shells to get their own uv map and mix the geograft material with the figure. DIffeo converts shells to material layers that are not supported by unreal. I know blender gets some baking features and you may try baking all the materials to a single layer, that's probably what unreal is expecting. But I don't know how good this will be, never did it myself.

As a side note, if you're looking for fast rendering you will get a much better material support with eevee. While if you're making a game pay attention to the daz eula because it requires a separate purchase of the interactive licenses, that's usually not viable as a cheap solution. Unless your game uses sprites instead of 3d but in this case I don't see what unreal is good for.

The version 1.6.2 with Single Principled material import option, Diffeomorphic attaches the genital UV to the torso and does not import the geoshell material. Attached images below showing imported Golden Palace maps which are not usable, and the Victoria 8 maps which are correctly imported. (The bump maps were used instead of the skin textures for demonstrating purpose)

Look on a DO in the store that you own, and see if the box to buy the license is greyed out.

Okay, thanks. That means mine haven't been added yet.

When licenses are added, is your product library page updated? For example, Victoria 8 on my product library page reads simply as Standard License.

Was wondering what skin/maps/MAT was/were, actually.

But obvi. custom char, so, maybe not available.

Thanks for dial info. A rare disclosure for PAs it would often seem.

[OPINION: Utilizing the promo credits section on this (and other) site(s) seems so easy, quantifying, and product/community supportive. Regenerative and self-referring, even, for the original product creators via reciprocated link-back hits from other credited products. Truly upward-spiral producing type stuff. Baffling why it continues to so often go unused.][If it's a matter of on-hand time, hire someone. Maybe a new role created just for the promo cause - and subsequent return benefits, for both the given PA and the community.][ /soapbox ]

Hi all; I know this has been asked before, but what's the exact process to apply AME to G8F models? I've been looking all over the thread and read a few posts, but I didn't find them all that clear. Could somebody help?

There is no way to apply AME to the G8/8.1 Female platform, that product was never released. The only work around is to use a G8F clone on the G8M, then use the Transfer Utility tool to layer the desired G8F character morphs onto the G8/8.1 M Platform. Instructions on this process are discussed on P.28, 35, and 37 primarily. I also recently posted some Transfer Utility work over on this forum:

If Michael and Victoria had a kid, or how to transfer head morphs between G8F & G8M? - Daz 3D Forums

The PDF there is a visual walkthrough on using the transfer utility between figures. There are associated challenges with textures, clothing and hair. These can all be overcome, but it is not fast or simple. Sorry that's not the answer you were looking for, but many of us have desperately wanted the G8F version, but it may never be released.  TD

Hey sorry for the late reply (since its my promo) Thought id fill in the blanks.

The out fit has been answered correctly, its IH Kangs. The shoes are not released, I made them something i never finished.

The character (head) is a dial mix of 5% Victoria 8, Teen Jane 17.5%, Sara 17.5%, Duffy 15% and 48% Freja 8 (so mostly Freja 8)

If the character looks a bit big - well she is, Most Daz chars out of the box are not exactly average height, they are pretty damn tall!.

so in the product library. I "bought" the 3d license for Victoria 8. It does not show anything in the product library, or the order..nor is it inidcated such on the product page. Very confusin

Here is how it appears in my Product Library. Notice the red circled portion. This label indicates the license type: Standard / 3dprint (possibly even interactive?)

Oh yeah -- I see it now for V8 ... most of the rest do not have it yet. How long do I wait before having to scramble to buy all the free 3d print licenses?

    I'm glad.
I spent last week, a couple hours through each day, adding licenses. 152 pages (4000+ products) but Richard Haseltine has stated that Daz is infact adding licenses to peoples accounts currently. So personally had I not already done so, I would monitor, but wait. Others have suggested adding in those products you really want manually, so there's that aswell. All in all just use your own judgement, but I wouldn't think you have anything to worry about.

Daz is in fact now adding the licenses for you, though it is a big job and may well take a couple of days or so to complete.

  • How to use a character bought from the store?

@davidsaul, it happened to me too, I got some free items, then I run Daz Studio and I was asked to get the "missing items" to get started with the interactive tutorial.

These files were free when I got them from the store, so check them if are still free:

    https://www.daz3d.com/using-auto-fit-victoria-4-to-genesis-2-female

    https://www.daz3d.com/using-auto-fit-genesis-to-genesis-2-female

    https://www.daz3d.com/using-auto-fit-michael-4-to-genesis-2-male

    https://www.daz3d.com/using-auto-fit-genesis-to-genesis-2-male

The last two products requiere these: "Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male" and "Basicwear for M4"

Like you I am out of luck, because these are on sale in the store.

So, its up to you what do you want do next.

I suggest you to check the freebies section first, then go to the store and do a search, wish you good luck!

I'll use Victoria 7 as an example... search for the specific product you own in your Product Library and then click the View Product Page link.  On the product page, look at the box titled, "Optional License Add-Ons:". In my Victoria 7 example (see attached screenshot), you will see next to the "3D Printing License $1.99" a very faint light gray filled-in checkbox with a checkmark indicating that I own the 3D License.

@GuyGenesis Thanks for pointing out the other way to see ownership of a 3D Printing License from directly within the Product Library.

My pleasure, I just happened upon it as I was going through my library, and thought it handy.
    ---
Giving away these license(s) was a very generous gesture by Daz, I truly appreciate it, and the extra support in the auto addition to library, alongside the loading maintenance. So, thank you.

  • 3D Printing Licences - What?

My Product Library is showing I own the 3D Print License for Victoria 8.
The invoice referenced indicates product purchase of the "Staff Picks for Genesis 8 Females Bundle 1".  My best guess DAZ is adding, via batch, the 3D Print License to eligible products purchased referencing the original product purchase invoice and date.  I'm positive I've manually purchased the 3D Print License for Victoria 8 between August 1-7.

Even though Renderosity now has Poser and La Fremme/Le Homme characters for it, there is still a lot of Genesis stuff over there. And there is a lot of Daz Studio stuff at the-site-that-shall-not-be-named

I believe that G8 products outsell LaFemme products by a considerable ratio at Rendo.  That said, I think that Rendo is on the right track with creating their own base figure, as it's unwise to have a product that is dependent upon an outside manufacturer.  Now the question is whether Rendo will play it smart and continue to keep the LF products running across multiple generations of Poser.  I've always believed that one of the biggest mistakes that Poser made was in replacing their base figures with every new release of the software, as the fact that the Victoria products continued to accrue assets and features over multiple Poser iterations inevitably lead to their domination of the market.  I remember that at the time of the transition from Poser 5 to Poser 6, the number of PAs who were creating add ons for James, Jessie, and Miki was actually quite repectable, but with each new generation of Poser figure after that, the number of PAs interested in making dedicated products decreased as it became obvious that they were essentially throwaways that were destined to be replaced and forgotten fairly quickly.

If you look at the Rendo's what's hot then you can see that DS products outsell the Poser ones whenever something (typically an environment, or prop set) is sold in both versions. However, as you said, it is the figure stuff that drives their income, and that comes mostly from G8, not LF or another figure.

I find it somewhat ironic that Daz Studio (and Genesis) was initially developed largely from money Poser users were paying Daz for Poser compatible products. Now it is the other way round, where DS users, buying DS stuff from Rendo, are providing the bulk of the funding for the further development of Poser.

How do we know which products have the license applied?

In your "Product Library" when you open a product under the order number is a label for license type: Standard License / 3dprinting License.
