  • Extreme lag- tried every possible solution I can find

Your graphics are just woefully bad. You should try the filament view in the viewport and if/when that doesn't help try wireframe. You need to cut down the load on your graphics card to something it can handle. But realistically that machine is always going to struggle with DS.

Thanks, the filament view is the only option that is greyed out and wireframe is just as bad as the rest of them, maybe I should get a desktop that can handle the job, or is there any way I can externally connect a decent graphics card?

  • 3D Print Questions - Differences in slicer software, cost of printer.

I've been looking into both types of printer in the past couple of days, and I think the Filament printer is the way to go for me. Printers that make certain things (i.e. self-leveling bed) more easier are nice, but are out of my price range.

One question that I can't seem to find an answer to is, does PLA need curing (or any other postwork). If so, what do I use? Plus, would it need special preparation if I wanted to paint it using acrylics?

Yes, the Viewport should be using OpenGL with (at least in part) thee xception of the Iray and Filament previews). The log isn't screaming "this is wrong". It may be worth using DDU to uninstall your driver and then reinstall, in case there's a left-over rogue element.

Sadly, that's subject to the same fail DAZ and DAZ Central is. I'll ponder. Simply uninstalling and re-installing doesn't solve anything, at least.

Ahhhh I'm so excited for this - It looks like a really fun product! I'm looking forward to it's release! :)

    Great to hear!

    Artini said:

Great news - it will make a great companion to the earlier Dotify product.

It will be even better, if you could release a different NPR looks for iray, as well.

Maybe just an idea for the another product.

Did you have anything in mind? You can use your own patterns by changing the decal cutout opacity.

    Rod Wise Driggo said:

Hmm, have the "original" Dotify on the wishlist for a long time. Never thought I might use it much. Now with this Add-On things might change. Would be cool if with release there would also be kind of a Dotify-Bundle with both products.

Unfortunately it can't be bundled with the original product, but I've requested and DAZ has confirmed that the original product will be discounted when the new product is released.
I appreciate that doesn't help you as you've already bought it and I thank you for your support, but mine and @RiverSoftArt's new product will be on intro sale (30% off) when released.

No, I do not have idea myself, but will be nice to be surprised, if anyone decide to make more NPR products for iray or Daz Studio.

I do not know about Filament possibilities in NPR area - maybe that would work with some smart solution.

    Ciao a tutti!

    Buon weekend!

    Ciao Daniele, piacere di conoscerti!

  • Viewport and aux are broken

That is interesting. It seems mine does open in OpenGL. Is it not supposed to?
Also, is Filament supposed to be a drop-down option under render setting in 4.14? (Yes, I went back to that version ;-) ) Because I don't have that.
I'm going to drop my log here for the boot-up process. Does anything stick out? Looks like a lot of errors to me XD

That's pretty cool, Sandy!  The truly amazing part to me is the 42 SECONDS to render the animation... versus in iray I can't even render  a single still image in 42 seconds.  Filament really opens up animation possibilities in DS like never before!

The original in Iray with the iterations turned way down to 100 I think.

Filament is certainly way faster :)

  • Viewport and aux are broken

The Viewport uses, if Filament and Iray modes are not on, OpenGL. I'm not sure what the contriols (usually at top-right) use, but I have seen screenshots of them showing as blank boxes when the rest of the UI is apparently OK (and that is usually down to an Intel GPU handling the application display)

  • Filament tutorials/shaders/lights?

The shader may got corrupted , sometimes it happening to me too .. try to use any other iray shader Metallicity based and then replace the diffuse , if not working you need to start over with the scene , it looks like Ambient value is on 100% to me even if you don't see it under iray shader , it merged with 3DL probably

  • Filament tutorials/shaders/lights?

I would love too but iray emissive lights are iray shader based  , I read that Filament support own emmisive light but in its full version , remember how more functions you want how better graphic card you will need , and in Filament your graphic card have own limitation of how many lights it can support with shadows, other way you can use already point light without limitation , I put like over 20 still working just no shadows and that sucks. I would be happy to have point light with shadows , it would be already so much better .

Agreed. Filament is an excellent new tool and I hope to see it improved upon greatly in the near future. What I would love to see is a means by which to add emissive lights to the mix. There are ways of creating lights, so there has to be a means to add emissive lights as well.

  • Animation Master Classes like a product

    Zilvergrafix said:

Yes you read right!, why not?

after seeing all the ton of Filament Animations, and the love put on them, we must realize that we are not top quality animators and some of us uses Animate blocks,

but I think many people would love to learn real animation like the Pros do, maybe not so deep but a set of classes USING Daz Studio in the series, not using external programs, only the timeline Advanced Tab for this.

in Spain there is an Academy but is focused on Maya and Blender and is costly http://www.animationgym.com/

is only a Product Suggestion and nothing else, what do you think?

"Top quality animators" tend to use rentware. Rentware is just another way to charge you ten times what the product is worth. That said, rentware is usually supported by teachers, classrooms and books. DAZ has none of these. 3D animation is too complex to be learned by the "press every button and see what happens" approach. It's easy to spend five years trying to learn what, given the right learning tools, you would be able to learn in six months. It's easy to be frustrated trying to learn DAZ.

After "we don't need no documentation" has been implemented, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. Nobody needs docs because most gave up trying to learn. I've often suspected that DAZ would be capable of some surprising things if I knew how to make them happen. I think we can all say the same thing. It does not mean we are lesser animators.

There's a lot to this documentation/learning issue. The misconception that you can substitute a YouTube video or a forum for a teacher in a classroom is common. The written word has been losing traction for 20 years. I say this as a retired engineering technical writer. We got what we got.

Sigurd, WOW that is a lot of combinations of skins! I am finding that lighting choices also matter a lot. Picked up some portrait lighting presets I am playing with now.  I definitely like the Filament speed, and it has led me into more animations. Also been trying to simplify my setup and working on some soft body dynamics. It's those pesky breasts when working with the G8F clone that I use. Some early promising results, but nothing I am willing to post yet.  TD
