You are not paying for base product.

G9 is free, you are paying for a character morph and material.

backward compatible means, that nothing has really changed. G9 is new. Your G8 stuff will be untouched and you can keep using it. Nobody is forcing you to upgrade.

Just test G9 and decide for yourself.

I never understand this arguement. It completely misses the point. Like ofcourse we know g8 will still exist. Thats not the point. The point is that we want our 100s if not 1000s of dollars worth of purchases to work with updated figures and their latest technologies like facial expressions for example. Yeah i could use g8, but that means downgrading to a more outdated figure with objectively worse facial expressions just so we can use our favourite skin textures.

Then we have something in common. I've never understood your point either. 
I understand the need for converters from an older to a newer figure.
It is in the nature of things, that everything you've invested in older things is pretty much burned money, when you get something new.
When you buy a new car, do you think of all the money for tax, gas, insurence or repair, that you've invested in your old car?
After 5 years it is really not to soon to have a new figure.
With every release of a figure since Victoria 3, there is that run of the mill complaint of the money, that have been invested in the old figure.
If 3d figures are your nr. 1 hobby, I have to tell you, that it is an expensive hobby.
I myself invested 10,000s of $ in old Poser stuff, that I don't use anymore, for it looks like to low quality for nowadays standarts.

Closing this as the topic has been discussed in the main Genesis/Victoria 9 thread - but if they had meant half-way through October the 16th (which would be the literal middle of the month) they would have said so - mid-month is a block of time, personally I would dividie the month into early, middle, and late with each being about ten days long.

Well, I asked because many of the DAZ policies seem to be changing lately.  And today's sale does say it's a Catch-Up sale.  That's what worried me.  The PA sale was shorter than historically, too!

No. If you check your Product Library, you could search on Genesis 9 Starter Essentials and not find it. I just typed in '9' and only my preorder for the Victoria 9 Pre Order Bundle showed up, along with all other products with a '9' in the name.

I may be mistaken, but I thought I heard someone say that it would be available from 'mid to late October'. Giving DAZ some wiggle room on the release date. Although for the product's luck, I hope it is not on 31 Oct.

I am not seeing where this is explained anywhere, so some clarification would be helpfull if you expect people to shell out an extra $49 for what is supposed to be a 'free' bikini. 

Not only male & female, but different females of the same generation (Victoria 8  vs The Girl 8) this is because different characters might hve difference in the size of their body parts that will make the required angles different. Sometimes it won't matter with solo poses, but you'll really notice it with multiple interacting poses.

Victoria 4 has a higher polygon count than a base resolution Genesis (any version so far). As for maps, which tend to be the real memory hogs, you can always guess (or use an image editor to sample) the overall colour and simply assign that with the map removed through the Surfaces pane for the more distant figures.

That is really weird definition of "mid". At least here it means around 15th - give or take a few days. Certainly not from early October to late October. That would be within October. Anyhow, not that this affects me in any way but just wanted to point out how weird it sounds.

Well, it was my definition not Daz', but I would take the first ten days as early, the next ten as mid, and the last ten as late.
