Not using full GPU after reinstall
Hello,
I recently had to do a full uninstall/reinstall of Studio and Central due to an issue in which studio was not launching correctly. Since the reinstall, studio is maxing out at 5.8 of my 8 gigs of GPU memory and subsequently rendering much less quickly. Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing which permits Daz Studio from utilizing the full amount of available memory? My CPU is only running at about 30% so i don't think that is the issue.
It's taking about 75% longer to render at this point, which is really killing my timelines.
Thanks in advance for your help :)
200 Plus Puppeteer Interface for Genesis 8 & 8.1 (Commercial)Can you try installing via another method? In all honesty I never use Daz Central.
200 Plus Puppeteer Interface for Genesis 8 & 8.1 (Commercial)Hello,
I'm getting the error code:
"Script not found in expected directory"
I installed using DAZ Central
Ultimate Iray Skin Manager [Commercial]Hi, sorry for the delay, I'm having internet issues :(
You will not find it under "script' but under the "utilities" category of the smart content when you are in the "Products" type of the smart content tab. I think you also have to uncheck the "Filter by context" checkbox at the bottom of the smart content tab. Then if you want to go faster, you can also write "manager" in the "enter text to filter by..." line. I never tested the Daz Central installation because the first time I used Daz Central, I managed to lose all my smart connect installed content, and this sounded like a "I'll never use this again". So if you don't find it with the clues I gave to you, I think the best thing is :
- first to install with DIM or manual download, which 100% work, the script you have to launch is then "01 Ultimate Iray Skin Manager", once your figure is selected (otherwise it will tell you to select your figure, so no worry).
- then to report to Daz that there is a Daz Central installation issue for this product.
Let me know if you still have an issue after my indications.
How do I uninstall DAZ Studio?skinnercurtis_175182bd68 said:
I made a mistake when I called it DAZ Control. I was meaning Daz Central. I found out how to uninstall the program and then reinstall it. But the program is still having issues. For some reason, I am seeing a small camera on the screen with the figure and it is preventing me from being able to do anything like moving the body parts. I will try and click on the arms to move them up or down, but the camera is in the way, and I have no idea how to get rid of the camera.
Apart from @richard's observation (the annoying tendency of a camera to obscure selections beyond it) it is also possible, very easy, to make whole items unselectable by accidentally clicking on the arrow to the immediate right of the eyeball icon in the "Scene" tab tree view. A little X appears on the arrow, the item can no longer be selected in the viewport. It took me about three years to discover this (three years of having parts of characters anatomy that I could only select by clicking on the node in the scene tab!) Talk about an intuitive user interface.
Help with exporting to fbx or objThat knowledge base article is about images, not 3D data. How are you installing the content? If you use Daz Connect (the Install pane in Daz Studio) or Daz Central/Daz Install Manager the files should be placed in the correct place, then use File>Export, choose the desired format at the bottom of the dialogue, and set the options required in the dialogue that opens after entering a name for the exprted file.
Missing Products IconsCouple of my icons are not showing in product list where they normal would, in central sometimes they take awhile to load when scrolling through resources. This along with one file failing to update in metadata has been for a few weeks, i have just gotten used too it.

Hmmm ... it is not a good idea to use both DIM and Daz Central ... did you change something recently? Is anything else acting funny?
Other than one or two Daz updates via DazCentral no. Same PC and hardware. It was installed via IM originally and that's what I used for the uninstall. DazCentral doesn't have an uninstall feature that I saw and that was the last install of the product. I did see a Daz error of missing files for a new Gen 8.1 male charater that hadn't shown before. I'm wondering if files are being overwritten or corrupted somehow.
Installation Problem with Genesis 8 Male/Female ExpressionsTried to install the following products with both DAZ Connect and DAZ Central:
Genesis 8 Male Expressions and Genesis 8 Female Expressions
With either installation, no menu icon show up whatsover. If I try to open either product via DAZ Central, I get the following error message (see attachment).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
DAZ Studio 4.15 Pro freezesChiming in here because it sounds like it could be relevant.
I run a three monitor setup for reasons unrelated to Daz, and have always used Daz on my main central monitor and never on any of the others. The last few times I've started DAZ it has opened on one of the other monitors. I often don't even turn them on when I think I don't need them right now. I suspect that this is an issue with the latest nvidia driver choosing which monitor to put things on because that's when it started for me.
DAZ Studio 4.15 Pro freezesCould it be that Daz 4.15 is not connecting? I try to connect and it gave out. You see, Daz Central connects so, I was able to load my stuff in but, Daz Install Manager and, Daz 4.15 give out when connecting. Could it be the connection.
Massive Morphs for G8F [commercial]Interestngly enough, the .DUF says that they should be there, but when then installed, the presets went into People/Genesis 8 Female/Shapes.
Currently the only thing that I find if I follow the g8f characters rawart folder is the sphinx.
Do I phyically move them to the required section? (As in go into my file manager and move them?)
Also, I just checked with a G8F character - there are no dials for massive in the paameters list you gave me. Again, sphinx dials, but none for massive. This was installed from DAZ Central. Shall I uninstall it and use the ZIP file instead?
ETA: just checked the ZIP file, and it says that the presets are to be installed to People/Genesis 8 Female/Shapes/RawArt.

DAZ Studio 4.15 Pro freezesI have this issue for awhile, sometimes you will see a load bar pop up on the bottom right hand corner of the screen, it will show a yellow update bar as when you first start up Daz3D it will check metadata and update files if your online, seems one file is always unsuccessful when updating the metadata making it slower to load in, sometimes this yellow update bar doesn't appear but its still doing the same thing, checking the files.
If you have downloaded new content it and installed it via the install manager or DAZ central it will also take some time to update files to your product list, you will see a file count under the yellow bar telling you the number of files being updated so if you have added a bunch of new content it can be slower to load the first time you install them into the editor.

Also check for woodpeckers... and really annoying people like me... they definitely will give you a migraine.
Hey, don't forget about the spiders that will make a nest in your ear canal.
I recommend frequent showers, and little friendly visits with a Q-Tip from time to time. And maybe have somebody take a look once in awhile. You know, like at your annual physical checkup, when the doctor is going to look in your ear with that "brain checker" device.
It's not really a brain-checker, no. He's actually looking for spiderwebs; no, really! Don't say, "no thank you" when doctor gets out the brain checker.
Yeah, and there's also lady bugs, ants, aphids, fleas, mites, ticks, silverfish (hint: They're not fish!), pillbugs, and cockroaches that will crawl in your ears at night. Really! Can't you feel them all crawling around inside your head right now?
Only when I don't take my medicine.

Oh, set yourself reminders then!

Corky is still living with us... due to various unforeseen events, she has not yet been moved to a new location...
Which probably works better for her since I haven't installed the fusion generator into her basement yet...

As you can see it's really just cobbled together from a fusion battery from an old Boridian antigrav pallet, but I can't find a working initiator coil that fits... I've got lots of them, I just can never find them when I need them...
If she was outside though, she could use the wood burning fireplace, but indoors she's not allowed to burn anything since the fire suppression sprinklers (in her house) are not hooked up yet...
I did test it out before she moved in... as you can see from the smoke coming from the chimney.

Yeah... also that car she managed to wreck too... she is a very bad driver for a mouse.
Wait, you gave her a car? And she wrecked it? What did THAT do to your insurance rates? Did the Gecko come over himself and tell you to stop letting your rat drive your car?

For Christmas one year my mother bought my father an electric shaver that we all ooh'd, and aah'd over during the unveiling. I admired that device while I was still too young to need one. It sat on the bathroom shelf and gathered dust. I wondered why he never used it, but would continue to lather up with a bar of soap and a brush and shave with one of those "T"-shaped double edged razors with the disposable blades. Then when I grew up and bought my own electric shaver (a couple of times), of supposedly higher tech than my father's had been, I found that they worked for shit.
So, I continued buying cheap yellow BIC single edge throwaways in a big bag, squirting foam out of a can, and never looked back. Dude, we need to talk. If you're using a cheap BIC and goopy foam for shaving, we need to have a conversation. The ONLY way to shave is to use a real cream that you whip up with a badger-hair brush. Hot water, pre-shave oil, and a lathered up face full of real shaving cream is absolutely AMAZING to shave with. I don't shave but once a week with Covid, but when I do, I do it right and it always starts my day off right. Then a hot shower, tooth brushing, and flossing later, I'm ready to take on the world.
I shave my head too, and it always feels amazing afterward!
Ladies, you should do this for your legs too. Real shaving cream, a sharp single-eged blade, and a sinkfull of hot water. It'll make you forsake your religion and immediately re-adopt it, lol!

How much ground would a groundhog hog, if a groundhog could hog ground?
That's easy: He'd hog all around all the ground a groundhog could hog, if a groundhog could hog ground, around and around.
And he'd do it out loud, too!

does corky ever sing? hear a small voice singing 'somewhere out there ...'
Actually some mice do sing, it's a weird thing they do apparently as most other rodents just play musical instruments or put on really bad recreations of Broadway plays... (Come on, "Cats" starring rats?... gimme a break...)...

Granted those mice tend to stick to folk songs and ballads, but regardless it's kinda cute.
Alas, Corky's talent isn't a beautiful rendition of Linda Ronstadt/James Ingram's bittersweet tune... She chose the electric guitar instead.
And you know the saying "If you give a mouse an electric guitar..."Little known fact... The Deer Mouse is a huge devotee to heavy metal...

So, unfortunately since mice, especially Deer Mice are nocturnal, I had to take away her tiny little electric guitar...
I mean I do enjoy Megadeath and Iron Maiden, I don't feel 3am is an appropriate time for it...
Its not as bad as hamsters with their saxophones or guinea pigs with their trombones, but it's still disturbing late at night.
Well I see your problem: She's playing a Marshall Stratocaster. Marshall makes amplifiers! Even the lowliest Fender Squier would probably be better! If you really loved her, you'd figure out how to to upgrade her to a Jackson Strat with a whammy bar and locking tuners so that her guitar would return to correct tuning after her solo dive-bombing during the bridge of the Van Halen song, "Hot for Teacher".
And if you wanted to see her play in the big time one day when Alvin and the Chipmunks finally get to tour with Trans Siberian Orchestra or the travelling Circue du Soleil shows, then you'd realize that her potential knows no bounds and you'd just go all out and get her a custom axe made personally by Paul Reed Smith himself!
Rock on, dear Corky, rock on! Don't let that bad mouse daddy tell you you're not good enough for the big show!
