- the incredible epiphany of 2023 -Love the wording, sounds like a big historical event! ;)
Dude, you are making me blush, thanks for all the praise and for purchasing my stuff.
Really happy to read how you enjoy it and find it useful for your animations.I had a peak at your YT vids, it´s really cool. I used to toy around with Animation in Daz Studio, so I know it´s a lot of work and not easy at all.
The way you made use of the length of Road to Nowhere is awesome, finally it payed off to build it that way. ;)I fear my upcoming winter set may be too cold for Rosie though. ;)
(Btw., congrats to moving her to Genesis 9, I am still stuck with Gen3 characters)
The wording is Very Meaningful!
Back when I was making Daz 3D products for Carrara, and Daz Studio 4.0 was brand new, our good friend Josh Darling was teaching stuff about many of the amazing figure-creation tools that are coded into Studio - and I took a particular interest.
The epiphany came to me as I was truly stuck trying to figure out how to actually animate my characters in Studio. It truly feels like it fights you every step of the way. Remembering those Content Creation Tools, I developed my own way to obliterate the need for common animation tools and build my joint adjustment parameters directly onto the figure. Bam! Epiphany!!!
Now I don't even want to animate my characters in anything else! Anything but characters? Sure. Why not. But my characters have a permanent home in the software that everyone has agreed is the last place to animate... well... anything! I say screw that! And now I'm making a movie!!! :)
Truthfully speaking, however, with ThePhilosopher's iReal series of animated props, Josh Darling/DimensionTheory's Animated VDB series, and other animated scenery and effects for Daz Studio, I never really leave Studio until I take all of my renders into DaVinci Resolve's Fusion and craft it all together. So Fun! And, since I really only had that epiphany back in 2023, I'm really only getting started!
Road to Nowhere! Ouch! What a great setup!
The car and animated Rosie are actually not moving through the scene - I have the scene moving underneath them! The cliffs being part of the HDR Dome... hmmm... how do I... aha!!!
I used the good ol' Dolly Zoom! Zoom the camera while changing the focal length of the camera to maintain the aspect... BAM! It's a pretty cool effect! :)
Praising Flipmode? Well... that's only because you So Totally deserve the praise and a whole lot more! These sets remind me of how a movie director/producer might work for scenes like this. Lush, superbly detailed matte-painting environment settings, with cool, detailed sound stage setup for the characters to act out the scene in. So Very Awesome - especially for someone who needs to work without tons of system resources.
Very nicely crafted scenes - every one of them that I've bought so far. When that happens to me, I follow the artist and collect everything. It's a boon to my workflow while showing appreciation, support, and interest to the creative mind behind it all. So I truly hope that my small contributions help to inspire you toward your next great thing - so I can buy that too! :)
You ROCK, Flipmode!

Thanks mate, glad you are enjoying the sets!OMG!!!
Okay, here's the thing.
I've always enjoyed your Easy Environments in Carrara. Very handy and easy/quick to set up and get going. Then comes how they look - and they Look Outstanding!!!
So I find that dForce hair by Linday and my attention is drawn to figuring out how to bring that into Carrara - for months I tried. All the while (during my failures) I was seeing Iray and the more modern (Genesis 3 and 8) Genesis figures in Daz Studio and started asking myself: Why am I trying to bring this into Carrara?
Long story a bit shorter, my journey into Daz Studio was blissful, but being an animator coming from Carrara... there was still a period of loss and confusion. Meanwhile everything was different. The learning curve going from Carrara's excellent multi-core CPU render engine to the incredible wonders of Iray - a world where everything we buy from the daz 3D store that is meant for Iray just loads in looking perfectly REAL without having to modify the shaders... it was brilliant, yet a massive learning curve.
Once I figured out the amazing method of animating - the incredible epiphany of 2023 - everything just got smoother, easier, faster, and so much fun and joy that, against many people's prods and quips, I never want to leave Daz Studio - so I don't.
Fairly recently, something happened and I happened upon that EXO-Planet kit, and it looked perfect for the Jungle Girl thing I was going for - especially since she's also a space/time/dimension traveler as well in her many personas... so I bought it and loaded it into the scene I was already working on and it just blew my mind how amazing it looked and how easy it was on my meager system. I use mCasual's Change Orient script all the time. I can set the origin of the entire scene to be where Rosie is and manipulate it from exactly where I'm looking - so I aligned one of those incredible root bridges under her feet and ran the animation... OMG!!!!
So now I'm back into it again - collecting up all of the Flipmode I can get my hands on!
I brought in the Solar System that you released years and years ago... OMG!!! I Love that! I love the support pages you provide with links via the product pages!!! So Cool!!! I have a 1972 Criterion RV-6 Dynascope (telescope) that I got from a college storage room - no refelection left on the mirror, tracking mount didn't work, tube was in bad order....
I sent the mirror to Majestic Coatings in NJ, I think it is? My wife and her sisters bought me a TAL-6 Russian tracking mount for the thing - and when ordering it, the guy asked if I wanted one with Russian electronics (original) or one with the Sky and Telescope US conversion done to it already - of course, living in Wisconsin, I opted for the latter!
Anyway... so I like looking at our celestial tapestry from our dark, Northeastern skies.
Having this Solar System with the wonderful information cards on each planetary body... So Good!!!
I can't put it in here as it violates TOS, but on my YouTube channel I have a glimpse of the Solar System in the beginning of my video entitled: "What Happened at Odysseon Station Act I WIP"
I Love the aniBlocks!!! I Love that you made aniBlocks for it!!! Thank you So Much!!!
Flipmode... this Forever Fan is grateful for all of your hard work, artistic style, inspiring enthusiasm, outstanding support, and ultra-efficient workflows!
So I really can't say this enough: Thank You!!!!
Terradome 3 is not working.I admit I don't know what is causing your issue
but
I do know it is NOT D|S4.24
the Ai is telling you that and you are believing it and the Ai is wrong
it could be a myriad of other issues but the build of DAZ studio is not the issue
I don't really use TD3 much myself as I use Carrara, Twinmotion and Unreal Engine mostly for terrains so don't pretend to know a lot
only that the change in iray only affected lighting
DISCLAIMER
I am not an ai hater, it is an agnostic tool
I do use it
but it has limitations and one cannot rely on it, it can only work with the parameters of the data it was trained on and much of that data is false because it is trawled from the Worldwide web and a lot of stuff on the web is untrue
can no longer save puppeteer animations as posesnobody seems to care but I did find a solution
not a happy one because it won't work in Carrara as well (maybe a Poser format animation will)
but saving as an animated properties preset works
for the few other people who do animation hopefully this will help if they encounter the same issue and can find this post in the forum search

I added some morphs to his hat and added Carrara fur for the fluffy bits and zipped it all up along with a morphing present

it's all in the zip file to frig around with and weight paint, morph or whatever it is you do with wacky stuff

This is a most perfect Grinch!! Thank you so very much for him! I have opened the Grinch in Carrara and saved as an obj. I opened in both Daz Studio and Poser. I don't know how to add bones and such. However, I can use him in your pose. He's so cute.
Converting Third Party Clothing into Daz3Dyes, it's possible, I have used Skyrim and other clothing meshes but that particular case is more trouble than it's worth
the main thing is to make it match the base shape for the transfer utility
that could mean using temporary rigging to move limbs inside DAZ Studio or in Blender etc (I use Carrara myself) any program capable of rigging and weight painting is suitable
in DAZ studio baking joint rotations on a temporary load of Genesis9 (DONT SAVE IT!)
can work, posing and sizing it to match your clothing then with the rigging tool selected right click select edit bake joint rotations
use the transfer utility with that figure as source
pose and resize that dressed figure to match the original G9, edit figure convert to object on the clothing NOT the figure
unparent it and delete the modified G9
DON'T save the modified G9, you can mess up the original if you do
Could the DAZ Studio render engine become a separate process?it certainly is more efficient for animation if one could load and queue bespoke render files in a standalone renderer
its definately what the big studios do
but yeah licensing is always the catch
DAZ Studio being freemium ware is the issue
programs by companies such as Autodesk have such capabilities and I think even D|S can save files for renderers like Mental Ray
incidently Carrara has its own standalone render version
I think Bryce does too
Poser had PovRay

that could be traumatising

I recall trying to make a quill in Carrara with dynamic hair
I've done a few non-hair things with strand-based - it can work really well. It kinda seems possible to do "feathers" but it's an ask with that editor to get a look that isn't too strandy and also isn't too neat ... probably depends on the style of fletching being sort - modern fletching, of the style maybe being sort (given the OP) looks like this: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Du6rrTDXk6U/maxresdefault.jpg
... That's an ask to do well
Might well also depend how prominent the arrow and fletching would be in a render ... in this example (
) https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/user/5444756578500608#gallery=newest&page=1&image=1351734 , you can barely see it, so strand-based might well work (that arrow and bow is from https://www.daz3d.com/medieval-style-dforce-outfit-for-genesis-9 )Arrow Fletchingadmittedly PAs could do a better job of arrows with dynamic strandbased hair as have the plugin and don't have to use DAZ Studio Strandbased editor
but one really doesn't need the feather vanes etc to be dynamic, that's getting ridiculous

Makes small note.
Not to cheat or give away trade secrets, but you could probably use LIE overlays together with other breeds texture & oppacity maps to add some details that give that variability from the base texture.growing matching hair could be and issue so LIE is probably the best option
something like the scar, freckles etc sets for humans but for dogs (and cats, more my interest) or a random pelt generator
add horses and other critters if they sell the triplaner brick might help if it works on strandbased hair
( it certainly does in Carrara procedurel textures with Carrara hair! D|S still cannot touch Carrara there, no torturous spaghetti of bricks and cords, an easy nesting linear shader system)
which gives me an idea too!
I can generate and BAKE seamless procedural coats in Carrara
it sees UDIM uv mapping
I have done it on other things, don't know why it never occurred to me before
Xivon Environment Assets - Wow but OuchI buy lots of their sets, eventually this one too, (I am not DAZ+ so not now. There's always another sale)
however I rarely render them in DAZ studio
(mostly Twinmotion)
or split them in Carrara

Freebie Challenge December 2025 - Christmas!
Denizens of the Daz3D forum freebie area - The festive season is upon us once more, but there's no time for merriment just yet! You see, i've spoken to santa (we're on the same mud wrestling team), and he has an unfathomable conundrum. No-one seems to believe in the chubby fellow any more. The man spends all of christmas eve greasing up your chimneys to spread Christmas cheer, whilst you're unconscious on the couch, in some sort of mince-pie induced coma. He spends all year figuring out how exactly playstations are made, and sewing a billion pairs of socks … For what? If no-one believes in him, the man might just jolly-well give up the game all together, and take on mud-wrestling full time. We can't let this stand denizens. I want my seinfeld anniversary box-set and festive mud-wrestling mankini under the tree, so it's time for action.
I need everyone to post evidence that santa has been. Half eaten cookies perhaps? Hoof prints on your roof? Maybe you have ring camera footage of the man in action? We need to get the word out there that the big man is still in the game, and he's going to be out there wrecking chimneys in less than a months time.
TL;DR - Render Santa, or evidence of santa.

As far as I am aware Cararra no longer gets updates - however there are some people who still use it regularly for things ...
Yes, I am one of those people, using Carrara on a near daily basis for short animations. I'm not a modeler, so I don't feel I'm missing much versus other more up to date programs. I've used Carrara so long it has become second nature, so I can think about what I want to do, rather than how to do it. I am finally getting into DAZ Studio 4.24, but only for still images due to the long render times with the great iRay. Then I use the stills as background in Carrara animations. I have most recently checked out DS with Filament rendering, maybe some animation possible with that fast render time, but the quality is not the same as iRay renders. Here is a short Carrara animation, a 48 second trailer for a 7 minute animation for the 48 Hour Film contest this year:

Genesis 9 animation conversions
the first ones are fine and were baked aniblocks I believe I used Bone Minion on some
others are iClone 3DX6 conversions
but
those last ones were keyframed G8 animations converted with n_alexandru's script
and in Carrara they are crazy
I need to test further if its the script or the animations themselves how they are keyframed
may be an interpolation thing
AND if it happens in D|S as I save and render them on the character after conversion
not loading the saved pose file, it could be a save issue too
Talk about doing the Jitterbug !!!
