I'm considering asking for a refund on the advance Victoria 9. Whilst Genesis 9 looks great I don't think I'll ever be able to afford a powerful enough system/ram/graphics card capable of using it to its best. If I have to reduce textures and subdiv levels to get it to fit on a lower spec system then much of the improvements are lost, so what's the point? Realistically I need to be able to render at least a couple of figures, plus hair, plus clothes and I get the feeling doing that with G9 is going to take a huge amount of resources.  I 'might' be able to render a headshot of a bald Victoria 9, but that doesn't really get me anywhere.

If I was rich enough to buy a top line system that it seems Victoria 9 needs, then I would probably be looking a different software too.

I had forgotten I will also need an environment, and all these things the figures, the clothes, the hairs, the environment, need to have a similar level of detail. There's no better way of making a model look bad that placing it next to a model with much higher detail. I could use depth of field to blur out a comparatiely low detail environment, but I don't like to be restricted into alway having to do that.

Yes, Daz had done that in the past when they needed to set something technically live in the store for whatever reason but didn't want people to actually buy it.

There was a place keeper for Victoria 9 morphs that was at that price point for the developers; I don't they actually pay that price but it keeps people out until it is ready.

First I rendered Victoria 6 (upgraded to Genesis 8 using the RSSY converter), Victoria 7 for Victoria 8 and Victoria 8.1 all next to each other with Victoria 8 skin and Linda hair. The Victoria's are quite different.

Then I did the same with the Gia's. As there isn't a Gia 8.1, I added Jacqueline 8.1 for comparison. With the same skin as Gia 7 for Gia 8, it is amazing how similar they are.

I've never understood the concept of pre-ordering a physical item since what's the point? I mean what do you get out of it that others don't since the physical pre-orders don't usually include any extras. Usually with digital pre-oders you get extra exclusive stuff that (usually) won't be available later for others.

When I was a kid, I would always preordered the new Super Nintendo games that were going to be super popular before they came out otherwise it'd take weeks until the stores had them in stock again. Didn't want to be the one kid that didn't have the new Mortal Kombat game and get annihilated when you go over to a friends house for a sleepover who'd been playing it non-stop since it came out lol. Do I preorder things now? No because by the time I have enough free time to delve into something, the stores have it all in stock anytime I walk in. But I also see zero reason to preorder a digital item since there won't be a shortage on the first day. Sure, if the freebies were something I was interested in, cool, but I don't really care for what they're offering for free with the Victoria 9 bundle, so I'll wait and see what's all in the bundle as well as finding out more information that hasn't been released yet that we're all wondering about in regards to G9.

I have great respect on the marketing strategies of Daz studio as it does not seem that they break everything on upgrades like the new poser owner did Daz keeps the offer of support for Poser, what would poser be without V4, well not even think about that! Daz made a huge contribution for Poser's popularity. I do not use Daz Studio even that I wish I could, but never figured out how to convert my WM SBSSW models in order to work in Daz Studio.But I am patient and with full hope that one day there will be a compatibility feature. Daz is free a great value, Poser should take a example but instead it updates and breaks most of older stuff, worst of all the Call home every week else puff all lost and your investments go right with it. If member (Customer) mention he's thoughts in the Renderosity forums or makes a public complaint they will remove it rightaway ( Censure ) with a probable Ban, and not only a forum ban but also removal of the account with all purchases no matter how much the customer Invested over the years ( Justifying there act with " we have the right to ban a member if we do not like him " ). This whole strategy does not really seem having a good future either it is a serious way of business. 

I Personally think it is the best solution sticking on the Older poser versions you have to ensure that your purchases still work the way they were suposed to work and wait up for a upgrade to poser 12, a 3D programm that is not working corectly with offered products can take the fun of using it. La Femme Flag ship well might have some potential but no good support, No Creators with potential, A airplane could fly between her leg position! So that flagship has no chance to beat Victoria 4, Poser without V4 and M4 is not Poser ! I like to use allot of different 3D programms " as Long as they work right " I try once in a while DS to figure out the issue for conversion. "Hope dies last"  The Models for DS are sure admirable!  V4 is old but still the best option in Poser but a Poser 12 that is also breaking most of her huge content sure is a no go.

Yes, clearly it is being kept as a surprise. If you do not feel happy at that, or if you feel the odds are against there being enough items you want to justify the purchase, then obviosuly this offer is not for you and you would be better off waiting until the products are released, when you will be able to make a more informed decision.

I couldn't disagree more.

The vertice count for Daz figures has barely changed since Victoria 4, 16 years ago!  You're using a computer with more power than those of us that started this hobby years ago.  You can get an entry-level card, the RTX 3060 which has a whopping 12 GB of VRAM that was only available to high end computing users spending over a thousand dollars just a few short years ago!

This is a long shot, and I opened up a ticket as well, but I am trying to compile a list of all the Genesis 8 and 8.1 base figures, and pairing them with their counterparts.  For example Victoria 8's counter part is Michael 8, Honni 8's counterpart is Holt 8, and I know Kala 8's counterpart is Sanjay 8, but what about the rest? I know some won't have this, but if I can get a good chunk, that would be great.
The reason I am looking for this is because I have a male character created, and would like to create a female relative (sister) using a similar base character for the foundation. Then to expand, create parents and grandparents (obviously using dials and other morphs)

Or am I asking too much

i used this hair converter:

...which did work, as far as i can tell (it created files in the correct folder) but when i closed the script window and returned to the scene with the G8F loaded, almost all of the figure's options for pose, wardrobe etc. were missing, as if it were now a prop or similar.

checking its scene ID, its compatibility base was set to 'None' so i restored that to '/Genesis 8/Female' but it still appears as incompatible, or a prop

if i turn off 'filter by content' then everything shows up, as expected (EVERYTHING shows up)

i compared its settings to G8M and everything looks correct.

how do i restore G8F to normal?

-----> uninstall-reinstall G8F starter essentials did NOT fix it. neither did deleting the hair i'd converted.

-----> neither did import metadata via DIM.

It doesn't matter what they are or where in the scenme, all that matters (with a few exceptions, such as Flipped Normals content or the old Anne Marie Goddard Digital Clone for Victoria 3) is whether they are 2D renders (single images or animations) or actual 3D data rendered on the machine playing the game.

Huh. Another name-and-number male character, just over a week after the last one. And another elfy one. What, were they just sitting on all or them or something?

Seems perfectly decent, but I don't feel a huge urge to pick him up at the moment. Although he does have an extra discount for Daz+ members because of the anniversary sale, but still.

His HD seems to do less in the face than Assassin's -- he is younger-presenting -- and slightly more in the body. He gets perky nipples! (Seriously, that's one of his promo images. Standard definition: Flat chest, no nipples. HD chest: hello sailor! or fellow elf or whoever.)

Torian reminds me of someone -- an actor, I think -- but I can't put my finger on who, exactly.

I wonder if it's going to be like this the entire month up until Victoria 9 appears. (And for the male characters, until Michael 9 appears.) All the backloaded characters come out to play, or something.

I don't follow what you are saying, and don't see any connection to Genesis 9.

You did not see the presentation where he stated there are new options with Victoria 9 * autofit?  There is now a baggy option in autofit. The higher polygon count allows for better weightmaps and better calculations for draping the clothing and avoiding pokethrough is what it sound like to me he said. Those improvements should help old style clothing like Genesis 1's fit better shouldn't it?

As far as dForce clothing it looks like cutout paper doll clothing far too often,except for some outfits that have been simulated multiple times with a morph preset saved for each simulation (those usually look OK). That technology is also valid for Genesis 9 and Victoria 9, so it's connected to this thread in that way. 

I'm still waiting for the bundle FAQ.  There's been info about V9 HD features but that's not what I'm looking for.  So far all I've seen is a vague statement that in addition to Victoria 9 HD the bundle will include "poses, expressions, outfits, hair, and more." That is not enough information to make me spend nearly $80 on a pig in a poke.

If others are waiting on more information before pre-ordering the  Victoria 9 HD Bundle, what would you like to know?  I'm asking specifically about pre-ordering the Bundle now rather than later.

If you have pre-ordered the bundle then what are you expecting?  ("I just wanted it" is a perfectly valid answer)

For example, before I would pre-order the bundle I'd need to know:

- what's actually in the pre-order bundle (images would be best but even descriptions would be something),
  - what kind of poses?  Sitting?  Running?  Standing?  Super Hero?   Boudoir?  Riverdance?
  - expressions? Well, you get a pass here because I expect it to be a collection of generic expressions.
  - what kind of outfits?  More bikinis that look like underwear?  blouse/pants style outfits?  long dress?  short dress?  fantasy armor that looks like it was designed by Frederick's of Hollywood?  business attire?  Flats?  or high heels only?
  - what kind of hair?  Razor-girl?  ponytail?  1980's big hair styles?  short bob?  mohawk?  shaved?  straight?  curly?

- is the HD pre-order bundle replacing the "Pro" bundle or will "Starter" and "Pro" bundles come later, (maybe a Mega-Bundle?)

- will buying the pre-order HD bundle get us a better price than available on launch day?

- what about the super discounts on other items that we'd normally get if we bought the "Pro" bundle on release day?  Will we still get those?

Oddly, the last three questions are the most influential.
