Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 2
Anyone know of a good Jeri Ryan morph? I know there is one for V3 and V4 but is there actually something newer?
@darknessstar_9be0df7913 If you do a little work with Tasha 8, you can come close.
Export morphs from Daz to C4DI suspect that there are joint adjsutemnts in the morph (which is it) and that they are no being picked up through the FBX to C4D - as a result the joint centres are in the wrong place relative to the emsh and so you get this distortion. I suspect you'd see much the same in DS if you reloaded the shape as just a plain morph, without any of the rigging adjustments.
Export morphs from Daz to C4DSo I'm trying to export a simple pose morph from Daz to C4D, but I get bad results with my imported FBX… I've attached a screen grab which more or less shows what's happening. The figure mesh is being deformed by both the joints/bones and the C4D Pose Morph tag and there's some bad deformation happening with the fingers and feet… Is there no way to just bake the morph on export from Daz to point cached geometry, such as an Alembic file. Maybe there's a way to fix this is C4D, but the Pose Morph has so many animated paramters it would be a real pain the backside to figure out what's going wrong here.
Hair morphs linked to head controllersHello guys.
So I created morphs for my character hair successfully, but now I want to link the 3 head's controllers to each morph so when for example i tilt the head with the controller, the morph automatically adjusts the hair to the new head's position. Is there anyway I can achieve this?
Thnaks in advance.
Fit to... after Transfer utility induces an offsetHey there,
I'm new to content creating, I'm trying to create some heeled shoes so I followed this video for the rigging part https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tbhf7cwq9hM
The problem is, after I use the Transfer utility my model is offseted or morphed a little, as you can (barely) see in the attached pictures. I tracked down the issue to be linked to the "Fit to..." part of the transfer because if I don't do it the shoes stay in place.
I modeled around the same posed Genesis 8 I'm using for the Transfer utility (with no morphs) so I really don't understand why this is happening (i'm doing the JCM trick detailed in the video too).
Is there something i'm missing in the process? The video is for Genesis 3 so I don't know if there is something different with G8?
Thanks in advance for any help :)
CheersEdit : Nevermind I found that a random body morph was applied to the shoes when I fit it to my Genesis 8 (don't know why cause it's not active on the genesis).
Dasan 8 is here
Nice shot of Dasan! While I apprechiate artist creating male content, I am quite often disappointed by the content we get. Why is it always pretty white ladies, the asian one who got released a couple of days ago, she is so pretty. I haven't bought her yet, I'm waiting for a sale because this March Madness has drained my wallet quite badly. But everytime we get a new male character, it's old, uninteresting. At least to me. There is 1 item from the bundle I actually wanna get, but that's it. Create a high quality male teen character, just like teen Josie or any others, that way people will buy them in pairs. Just my 2 centsI'm sorry, but which store are you looking at? Because I must respectfully disagree. :P
A lot of the characters are matching pairs. Leroy and Nida, Jonathan and Josephene, Kanade and Yuzuru, Deigo and Gabriela, Elios and Ellithia, Sanjay and Kala, Mr Woo and Mrs Chow, Ollie and Edie, Floyd and Mabel, Monique and Darius, Victoria and Michael, etc...it's not like they're only making young girls and old men.
Also, you've got characters like Deigo, Silas, Yuzuru, Sanjay, Nix, Lee, The Brute, Landon, a pretty diverse cast of male characters who aren't old.
If you don't mind me asking, what exactly would you consider an "interesting" male character?
Apparently there is a lack of Teen males. I saw more than one person complain about this.
In my mind there's nothing special about a teen and there are already a few teen males that are great, without the need for a DO character for it, but that is just my preference. I have 0 interest in a teen male.
Well, I can agree with that. Just look at the new releases. 2 MORE Teens for G8F. 0 for Males overall. I don't know why that is, but apparently they don't sell. The only reason why I'd wanna buy a teen male is for the skin texture, and morph it further. I just don't think it's fair to have that more females... But on the other side, I understand PAs, why would they spend their time creating something and risk not selling enough. If there was a very interesting teen male maybe I could be interested in him but the previous generation teens were so generic and bland that I would not be.
I think there are so many other interesting types of characters we don't have yet that caucasian teen male is not one I would be interested in. For example Dasan 8 is very interesting, he looks like he has a back story to him.
Of course this is only my opinion. If there are enough people interested in a teen male, why not have a pro bundle for that.
Another thing I would want to mention though is that lately I see a pattern for pairs of characters being released: CJ and Dain, Leroy and Nida, Jonathan and Josephine. Because of that I would expect a pair to Dasan to be released before anything else.
Maybe the chance for the teen male was missed after Raven of Josie.
Male-M3dia made some G8 male teens that are perfectly good and I think better than something Daz would have come out with to be honest. The downside is that they are only shapes with no textures.
Laurie
After seeing your response, Laurie, I decided to go ahead and post what I was not going to post:
According to Daz representatives from the past, young males sell poorly, even to the point that Tween Ryan 7 was virtually given away for free as a new release. (Perhaps marketing figured, "We're gonna lose money anyway; so, let's buy some customer goodwill instead").
Also, Lucas 8 is late teen to early twenties, and he is probably one of the least popular G8 Core figures, which solidified Daz's original contention (although his orange, waxy, featureless skin and lack of morph personality may be more of a factor in low sales than his age and gender). BTW, Altern8 fixes Lucas 8's skin very nicely.
Although young male is the character category that is least interesting to me, I still need them for scene fillers. This past weekend I was finally able to pick up some wishlisted young males at a price befitting their value to me---though not their high quality: Justin, Josh, Jeremy, & Nick. Them, along with Male-M3dia's unparalleled male teen morph packs (these morphs easily rival Core figure quality in detail and distinctiveness) and skins like Nix 8 and Gage (as well as Genesis 8 UV Swap to use female skins) make it possible to field an entire teen male sports team as well as their opponents with no repetition.
I believe Lucas's poor sale performance isn't so much due to him being young and Male ... but that he wasn't such a convincing character. Mousso's new Asher is also young and Male and seems to perform well.I agree (as I suggested in my post). I think Mousso's new character is doing well because Keanu. I don't know if there is another male person alive with more cred among our ilk than Keanu.

I agree with your points about Lucas and especially his skin problems.
I think Asher looking like Keanu certainly helps ... but I think what's more important is that he is simply very well made, a typical Mousso character. Now he might not perform equally well compared to female characters sales-wise and it might also factor in that he is not DO, like the rest of Mousso's characters. But I hope he sells well compared to other males and hopefully Daz will take notice.
Force commercial poses to pose-in-place?To prevent a pose from changing a characters position you ctrl-click the pose instead of just clicking it. That brings up a dialog where you can disable rotations, translations and scale changes.
Also it isn't time consuming to return a character to teh original location. just undo and the character will be right back in their original position then ctrl-click the pose.
Thanks kenshaw.... one of DS's "hidden" functions that is really useful.
Changing the position is rarely a problem, but remembering to check if the scale has changed from 95% back to 100% (for example) is a pain. Forgetting can cost a lot of time in wasted render time. Ctrl-Click, that's the trick!
Or locking the parameter... also a good idea. Thanks phatmartino.
And then there are the poses and expressions that change the figures morph dials.

Dasan 8 is hereFinally finished putting my cart together and placed the order. Shopping for a sale like this really sucks on my phone, both because I can’t filter by wishlist and because I can’t hop between tabs as easily.
Congrats, I am still struggling to decide on some items. It would be so much easier if we could pick more from people and wearables.
It's weird we have to pick the same amount of stuff from animations and poses as from people and wearables. Would have been better if it was people and poses for one and wearables for another, or all combined for double the amount.

I could totally get behind a young male if he has a look that said something.
I also think that it's funny how Daz is full of gorgeous women but very few of the men are attractive. What up with that?
Because men are allowed to have character. Women must simply be beautiful.

Suddenly can't delete Morph keys??I think I'm having the same problem.
I have a preset animated poses with expressions. I want modify the expressions, but there seems to be an embedded set of expression animation, because I can't delete the keys.
I have expanded all items under TROAH, so nothing is hidden from me. I'm down to 'Morph Expressions' and there are 'T's from the first to the last frames. Selected all, use the delete button (highlighted), and nothing happens. Use the right-click on Timeline tab and click "Delete Selected Keys", nothing happens. However, if I go to 'Clear Animation' and clear selected items, the keys are gone but so are all the facial morphs which deletes my character and goes back to the original M4 face.
Any suggestions?
HH Wyvern [Commercial]Not trying to start an argument, just trying to understand the basis for the previously expressed concerns. Why is making different creature figures so problematic? Is the benefit of being able to turn a horse figure into a dragon that people want to have the option of creating hybrid creatures? Because poses wouldn't really transfer well from one to the other and I wouldn't envision accessories for one being all that useful for the other. I get it with regard to humanoid figures, but unique creatures not so much.
HH, I have almost everything in your store. Haven't had a chance to explore all of it yet, but love your work and am happy to support it. If you ever run out of ideas, maybe you could create a range of prehistoric sea reptiles...

I don't have a problem with it being a separate figure....
No shaping options for Genesis 8One thing to note if you aren't in a hurry to start spending $$$ — those morph sets go on sale fairly often. In fact I think the last time was just last week (one of the big month-long annual sales was on). Put them in your wishlist and keep an eye on it.

Shape Rigger Plus(Commercial)OK, so I bought Shape Rigger Plus and to test it on something ultra simple (for me, not you that can runs circles around such a task in DS) I just used one of the FaceGen Artist Pro morphs in my DAZ Library.
1) So I load the G8M Base, delete the eyelashes, and set the eyelash upper, eyelash lower, and eyelash curl all from 100% to 0%. I'm not sure what those 3 dials do as the eyelashes I deleted and they (eyelash upper, eyelash lower, and eyelash curl) are actually located on the G8M Base.
2) I set the viewport subD & render subD both to 0. I set the resolution from high to base.
3) I favorite the morph. I leave it set at 0%
4) I leave G8M in A pose.
5) I start Shape Rigger Plus. I read the User Guide.
6) I check the radio box to select the FaceGen Artist Pro favorited morph for Shape Rigger Plus. It says the morph is already rigged but as I know that and as just testing I ignore that. I set tolerance from 10 to 0, per the instructs it will re-rig all the bones. I also set align.
7) I click the button to re-rig the FaceGen Artist Pro morph. It finishes pretty quick.
8) I go to the Save tab and because it was a pre-existing rigged morph the auto-path it's using is already existing the option to save is denied. I un-check the Custom Path to save so that I have the option of overwriting the old morph file.
9) I click to save the auto-rigger work that Shape Rigger Plus had done. The save dialogue says "Processing Morphs" and it quickly gets to 50% and has now been at 50% for 25 minutes and 20 seconds and counting. So something has went wrong, what?
When I look into the DAZ Studioi (DAZ Studio 4.12.0.76 public beta) lots of DEBUG messages regarding traversal through vert #s & bone names. Last message from Shape Rigger Plus seems to be the ERC was successful.

And it may of been ERC'ed and even saved as a 'pseudo-personal' product before I tried using Shape Rigger Plus on it but I really have no other clues as to why the save is stalled at 50% for over 30 minutes now. I read this entire thread before purchasing and Zev0 stated a save after using Shape Rigger Plus shouldn't last any longer than any other typical DAZ Studio save.
After 1 hour 5 minutes plus, I use the Windows Task Manager to end the DAZ Studio task as the Shape Rigger Plus save dialogue still hadn't progressed beyone 50%.
+++++
After restarting DAZ Studio and trying several different ways of saving that Shape Rigger Plus rerigging of that existing FaceGen Artist Pro morph there isn't a way that works really. The Shape Rigger Plus product has a bug in keeping track of what it has done or not done it seems and so seems to be unable to save what it has done with regards to rigging on an already existing morph like this one.
I just tested on a FaceGen Artist Pro morph that had no ERCs associated with it & Shape Rigger Plus still hangs at 50%.
Matt Castle does some stuffI did look at it when it originally came out, but as much as I do want to support such products, it's not really close enough for what I needed. Nyx already has an established look, and one of the limitations of the Black Widow model is that because the front legs are an HD morph of G8F's legs, you have to dial in the entire morph, even if you don't want the morphed torso and arms. (Although the head does at least seem to be a separate morph).
In any case, this did give me the opportunity to learn how to set up a (relatively simple) rigged geograft.

How can I install Michael 4 BaseThanks Elli. That´s really works. Also I find the way of Install manager also works (reading the docs) . Now I can play around whit the products of Michael 4
Hello!
Michael 4 installs to a Poser directory format so you will need to go into your Content Library Pane and right click on "Poser Formats" on the left side and select "Add a Runtime Directory" then point it to your install location that DIM is using. Once you have selected the directory and linked it into the Content Library Pane he will be located in "Figures/DAZ People", his material and morph options are in "Pose/DAZ's Michael 4". He does come with default sample resolution materials for Daz Studio they are found “People/Michael 4/Materials/M4 Sample-Res”.

ThanksVintage Milkfloat, Z Milkfloat and Freebie. (commercial)In my cart, but I do have to point out tht the bottles look to be the modern form rather than the taller version we used to have (unless there's a morph I missed).
Oh, now that is a good question, I remember the older design... just - I can't remember when it was phased out though. It was long before milk rounds became a thing of the past. But I don't know if the milk floats spent more of their time delievering the old bottles or the newer ones? You've got me wondering now!
