Anyone else notice...Toilets without seats, apartments that only have a living room, toilets without toilet paper ... rooms with windows ... the interiors of dazland.
interiors with no switches or sockets!
Though it's a little pointless plugging in any appliances. They don't usually open at all..

DAZ people are different from humans though with different needs. they all seem to manage to be able to get into cothing without any openings. I guess they can use the same shapeshifting abilities they use to get dressed to leave through tiny cracks (see I knew the horrifying shapes made by misuse of transfer utlities were intentional and their true forms!!).
3D Art Freebie Challenge-May 2020-"Flowers" -Main Thread OnlyTitle: Ophelia
I'm generally not fond of "Dead Lady Art" but I thought I'd make an exception for this homage to the iconic painting by John Everett Millais.
Rendered in DAZ Studio.
The texture on the lower half of the gown were stretched out, so I re-rendered that part and combined the results in GIMP.Freebies:

@outrider42 thank you so much for this. I spent the weekend trying to figure out how to transfer the maps from G8F to G8M. I use UV swap on the figure itself and it works well, but I want to use G8F skin on the male AFE mesh and of course you need a Male map for this.I have baked a set to match the male UV, and I have used them some, too.

How would one bake a set to the match the male UV? This sounds interesting.
I'm sorry I never saw this question. I think you need to UV swap product first for the UVs to be available, but I'm not 100% sure. The procedure is the same as baking a unique G2 or G3 skin to match the base. You use the Map Transfer tool, but instead of selecting the base for the target, you select the opposite sex base. That's where having the UV swap product comes in.
So once done you will have a full set of textures fit to the other sex. Then you can use the nice roughness textures and materials of a bluejaunte girl on males in the same way I did for Victoria. This doesn't make them look feminine at all. It compliments pretty much any skin.
I wouldn't do a good job explaining, but this thread does, and it has helpful pictures. This was what I went by when I did mine. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/95701/tutorial-converting-custom-genesis-2-uvs-to-genesis-3#latest
I will study this thoroughly.
Nipple-position-movement morph G3/G8 males? The easiest and cheapest way to get it to where YOU want it vs whatever limitaions that come with a morph pack (that I don't think even exists) has, would be to export a base character mesh to blender (free) and adjust the mesh placement yourself, then import it as a morph. There's other posts in this forum detailing step by step instructions if need be.
Help identifying character pleaseBest I could whip up. Michelle's texture, so I tried dialing in a bit of her head as well, didn't look quite right. Added in a bit of the Tara 2 (same vendor as Michelle) head morph as well. Looks close, but not quite. Those expressions in the promos really set it off, and they're hard to duplicate.
65% Michelle's head, 32.5% Tara 2 - it's not DEAD ON, but it's in the ballpark.

Yes, I agree. I'd buy those settings in a set of presets as a DAZ product.
Posing packs changing figure scales?Hi all!
I have recently noticed that sometimes when I apply a predefined Pose on a character, his/her scale might change with no warning. If I don't pay attention a render might be ruined becuase a character is now shorter or taller than previous renders.
What is the cause of this? How can it be prevented? It shouldn't happen, unfortunately its all too common, the PA didn't save the poses correctly and the problem wasn't picked up during testing or QAV, they sometimes get fixed but not all the time. Its infuriating especially as its easy to avoid if the creator pays attention to what they are doing.
Some poses will move the character back to the 0,0,0 default place, some even alter the morph dials adding ones that the PA was using when creating the poses that is so frustrating a bit worse than the scaling thing as sometimes it subtle and you don't notice until much to late these poses do that
https://www.daz3d.com/capsces-poses-and-expressions-for-sakura-8-and-aiko-8
Unfortunately this isn't the first time this PA has done this sort of thing with poses which is a real shame as I love their poses but its the last set I buy from them now.
Nipple-position-movement morph G3/G8 males?I'm looking for a way to change the position of G3/G8 male nipples. I know there were some free morphs for G2M. Is there anything similar to it for the newer generations? A morph pack in the store's fine, too.
Get Version 4 ! mcjHatsAreTheFashionOfTheDay : Fit Any Hair in Hats Pc/MacThank you for this! I was making a render of the new darling Valentino 8 and discovered that the Deck Hair didn't have a fit morph for the Deck Hat (or at least I couldn't find it). This script fixed it for me though. I am using the latest version of Studio 4.12.1.117 and default settings of the mcjHats script. It was the first time I used it and at first missed selecting something and the script told me so. Don't remember what was wrong. On the second attempt it worked fine, though. In the attached image (if I manage to get it to show) are renders with the hat shown and hidden.

Looks great! What hair is that btw? If you make the hair a very dark brown instead of black it will match even more.
EDIT: Is it Mega Updo?

Carrara Challenge # 52 - Carrara Cryptids WIP thread--Entries EndedOne more update on the Cyclops. Here I've added a balding hairline ("horse shoe"), some eyelashes, and morphs to blink the eye, and to rotate the eye. A Carrara hair tip is related to UV mapping and 3D paint. One can apply hair to a model by selecting the polygons to be covered with hair. Of course, this means that the hair line must follow the edge flow of the model. If the mesh is properly UVMapped, one can use a painted texture map in the density channel of the hair shader to control the placement and thickness of the hair. For the main head hair, I used a density mapp that I painted on the head with the 3D paint tool. For the eye lashes, I selected the polygons on the edge of the eyelids. I also changed the eye color to blue to searate more from the skin color and eliminated the baked in highlights. I created a bulge morph for the cornea but I haven't fiddled with the cornea texture yet.

Daz3D - Missing male pupil on every characterIt's the new renshaw character. Either uninstall it, or you can fix it yourself
Go to data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male\Morphs\Hinkypunk\Renshaw\ in your library, open Renshaw Pupil Morph.dsf with a text editor. Scroll down to line 32, change "value" : 1, to "value" : 0, and save it.
how do you creat a new faceYou have 2 options, you the various morph sets to create a new one, or use a modeling app like Zbrush.
I just took a look at Zbrush and way out of my price range.

That is very good looking. Comparing the two, I personally like your version a bit better.
The beauty of the genesis models is how easy it is to whip up a custom character just by dialing in a few character morphs here and there.

Eye problems with G8M - Has now been SolvedIt's an error with Renshaw he apparently loads with the blinded eye morph on all the time and it affects all g8m. He needs to be fixed. There was a thread in the commons about this. Until he gets fixed, I'd uninstall him.
SereneNight's Sci-Fi Fun Thread 2Yeah, I know, boyds arms are scary in this position. This is why I rarely do style of pose. The way studio handles muscular characters arms gets a bit funky.i think ASE fixes some of the weirdness with the armpit. AME i think should work to fix distortion in the muscles but you would have to probably redo all the body morph with AME at a high % as the base of the morph to get the benefits of the JCMS (maybe?). (I dont know how JCMS really work).
Stop genesis from loading morphsCreate two versions of your genesis X figure. One for setup of new characters, and one for posing and using it. The creation one can be the default one and stay as it is, and you just setup characters with it. And when you saved a character with it, simply copy the used morphs to your new lighter figures morph data folder.
The lighter one should only contain pose related morphs and joint controlled fix morphs, and the morphs that you actually use on your custom character(s). You can create such a custom figure by selecting "File > Save As > Support Asset > Figure/Prop Asset.
Make sure to strip out all the morphs from that figures data folder that you do not need. I would recommend taking out all those hd shapes especially since they take alot of time to load and several can really lead to insane loading times. My default g3 - g8 runtimes are massive, several gigs of morph data from stuff I bought over the years and my own morphs, so I usually look at loading times of several minutes if I would use the default figure for my characters... I could not suffer this anymore, so this is a workaround that indeed works well.
I still would like to see some system by DAZ so you can manage which morphs the figure should skip loading by default, perhaps on a global level or even per file. That way you could really get away from those insane load times once your runtime starts filling up. It is not just loading times, it also makes pose loading and saving slower, especially when youre working with the excellent puppeteer pane.
Any selective loadign system for morphs that are isntalled is likely to run into even more overhead than the current system (after all, this has been refined over successive approaches with different figures). There is of course one option, which is simply to uninstall the unwanted morphs (if the CMS knows about your purchases then DS will offer to download and install any morphs from Daz products that are needed, owned, and not currently installed).
