  • a using DAZ content in UE4 thread

Speaking of updates, please be sure and let us know if you decide to add support for the Genesis1 figure in a future update - A couple of us would be very pleased if that was up there on the todo list!

    cheers,

    --ms

Working on that now.  I'm making some updates so hopefully any figure type should be transfer decently.  https://trello.com/b/jflWglcp/daz-to-unreal

When it's ready I'll put up some screenshots.

  • TritiumCG Freebie Thread

A ton of updates this time. I regret sometimes I can't post some of the morphs I'm commissioned to make of private people, but that would be just weird and wrong no matter how pretty they are.

Three head morphs. Suzy Berhow, Jenna Fischer and Hayden Panettiere: https://www.deviantart.com/tritiumcg/art/Suzy-Berhow-Head-Morph-for-G8F-844798669 | https://www.deviantart.com/tritiumcg/art/Jenna-Fisher-Head-Morph-for-G8F-846012010 | https://www.deviantart.com/tritiumcg/art/Hayden-Panettiere-Head-Morph-for-G8F-846759350

    Four full head/body morph combos. FF7Remake Tifa, Maria Nagai, Gina Carano, Codi Vore: https://www.deviantart.com/tritiumcg/art/FF7R-Tifa-Full-Head-and-Body-Morphs-for-G8F-845023590 | https://www.deviantart.com/tritiumcg/art/Maria-Nagai-Full-Head-and-Body-Morphs-for-G8F-845615686 | https://www.deviantart.com/tritiumcg/art/Gina-Carano-Full-Head-and-Body-Morphs-for-G8F-845834723 | https://www.deviantart.com/tritiumcg/art/Codi-Vore-Full-Head-and-Body-Morphs-for-G8F-846540707

  • Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 2

Tritiumcg has a Jenna Fischer morph and I'm currently learning substance painter trying to make shaders for it using Adelle, Noemi, and some normal maps from Alexandra as a base, plus lots of skin brushes that are built into Substance. Interested to hear everyone’s thoughts. Screenshot taken from Eeevee live preview.

Update: one more shot with different (less dramatic and slightly more Office-like) lighting.

    Looking fantastic so far! :)

    Here's the link btw: https://www.deviantart.com/tritiumcg/art/Jenna-Fisher-Head-Morph-for-G8F-846012010

Also Gina Carano (in collaboration with SucculentFruit13) and Hayden Panettiere (just the head): https://www.deviantart.com/tritiumcg/art/Gina-Carano-Full-Head-and-Body-Morphs-for-G8F-845834723 | https://www.deviantart.com/tritiumcg/art/Hayden-Panettiere-Head-Morph-for-G8F-846759350 (<-- based on Sam from Until Dawn by Sony)

  • Weird Eyes with Face Transfer

When I use Daz's face transfer the eyes are grainy and speckled.

Is there a fix for this?

    Thanks

Apply one of those lovely eye presets found in any character's material folder.

Has anyone gone through and pruned your expression morph dials? I'm feeling the urge, since I seem to have about 50 evil grin expressions, that I just don't need. But I struggle with it being overly complicated to locate the pose expression creator.

  • Way to organize (and get rid of) Unwanted expression dials

I'd love it if there was a way to organize and get rid of unwanted expression dials. I have thousands, and quite frankly some of them just don't work for me. I'd love an easy way to remove them, without rooting around in the data folder for the exact morph.

  • AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO? PARTE DODICI

Però già ci sono, contemporanee all'uscita, questi:

    https://www.daz3d.com/bullwargs-hd-alternate-skins

    https://www.daz3d.com/cdi-poses-for-bullwarg-hd

    https://www.daz3d.com/z-woodland-adventures-poses-and-expressions-for-bullwarg-hd

    https://www.daz3d.com/servant-of-the-yellow-king-outfit-for-bullwarg-hd-and-genesis-8-male heartheartheart

    https://www.daz3d.com/frog-life-poses-for-bullwarg-hd

  • Daz Studio 4.12 Pro, General Release! (*UPDATED*)

I don't know if this has ever been mentioned before but one feature we could really use to save some time, in the future: a zeroing button, individual to every single dial in the parameters and poses tabs. No more typing zeros or fiddling with the dial to zero that persky morph. Or those. Some pose products are delivered with some dialed expressions, for example, which have to be zeroed manually through a good dozen of parameter dials.

Better yet, how about double clicking on the slider control to set the parameter value back to default? No extra buttons, and this is somewhat standard behavior.

    - Greg

Hold the Alt key and click the slider to set it back to default.

Yeah I know - I thought the poster said they didn't want to use the keyboard.

  • Michael and Friends Appreciation Association [Images] Pt 2

Not a regular render, but some progress on my outfit in DAZ.  So I figured out how to use DAZ a little bit more.  The goal was to be able to use any kind of musclar morph without distorting the outfit, particularly around the collar, waist, traps and abs, and trying to not make the outfit take shape of the musclar morph in general. TBH most outfits I seen in the store for men looks like the third picture

Certainly does look like good work.

Certainly something I didn't expect to see, a morph depicting John Hurt's "War" Doctor.  In the render with him and his console, I thought maybe you started with a Picard morph and worked your way from there.  Seeing the larger "portrait", I think I should toss that speulation.  I'm guessing you just "went to town" with the face dials.

BTW, that hair is spot on, spiky and disheveled, just like Hurt's 'do.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

  • new rules for developing your own character

Also, i can make cloths for any of the Gen8 chracters for my own use
but if i want sell those clothes i need anopther type of liscence...?

HI if you model your own clothing and it fits "the unique shape" of any of the Daz genesis figures
( as it MUST to conform properly)
it is considered a "derivitive work "and must be subject to the Daz EULA

This means your original  G8 clothing mesh( Shirt, pants)
cannot be given away as open source for example.

It's been stated by other forum members that your claim isn't true. And there are plenty of independently created clothing meshes using various generations of DAZ models on ShareCG.com, for example, to support their claim. Commercial, Educational, and other usages are listed at ShareCG.com. One in particular has made lots of nice clothing from Genesis to Genesis 8 and gives it all away free on her web site. Some modelers sell clothing for DAZ models on competing 3D model web sites. And also give clothing away.

Anyway, the mesh wouldn't be open source as it has no source code, it would be level of Creative Commons license like CC0 for example: although it's easy to understand them as analogous to each other.

I imagine there is an exception if the modeler simply duplicates the original DAZ mesh and then edits to delete polygons rather than actually modeling and fitting the item and such but I've never personally looked at any freebies to see it the person giving away the freebie had actually done that. That's something DAZ would need to police. I'd notify them if I saw an obvious DAZ model being giving away but I've not seen that.

Now you can't make a character morph for a DAZ model & give the whole model away. You have to learn how to package it as a morph and then distribute only that packaged morph. Same with any geometry in the DAZ Store. If you model clothing or props, hair, textures, and the like you package only the unique work you did, which is usually all the clothing, hair, or other prop gerometry and more.

It is not, however, possible for people making content to relax the Daz llicense terms. There was an issue with a body suit - so pretty much the wholle shape - being offered as open source, which would of course have undercut the restrictions placed by Daz on the shape of the original figure.

OK then, thanks, but well I didn't claim that they could relax the terms of the DAZ EULA they have to actually do the modeling, not just duplicate polygons in a DAZ or PA model & delete and edit what's left and I did mention that..

I'm not going to assume a body suit is derivative because it is possible to make a body suit where the polygons in the body suit aren't one to one matches with the polygons directly underneath of the character wearing the suit. The characters are just generic humans after all. Which modelers have done that sufficiently and which haven't, I'm not going to investigate. This nebulous concept of derivative can be applied to all modeling work, eg, a DAZ primitive plane has 4 sides and is closed and therefore all models entailing planes are derivative.

No, they are not generic humans - they are specific human shapes and the shapes are part of what Daz owns the copyright to, copying those shapes makes the result a derivative even if the mesh itself is wholly new.

    +1

I also use the Alt-click method to return a parameter to the default setting (which is not necessarily zero) but a blanket action as you say would be something I've often thought would be a good idea. Perhaps with two options: return to default or to zero.

  • Why Does It Take So Long To Load Figures? ("Solved", with GUIDE)

Well... I had a blood bath.  Removed about half of my G8Fs.....  Got rid of some rendunant morph sets for G8 as well.
I cut my load time for G8Fs from 5.30 to 2.09  So that is better than half.

  • G8M Face and Bodies all look Wierd

Every i load a G8M, the Genesis 8 basic figure the i posted example.no matter witch character, the all look odd some Grotesque, i bought some body morphs for G8M, but they dont seem work correctly, any way to restore them to normal, its been pretty frustrating. i tried Zeroing the figure to 0, but that only changes its shape. it only works when menualy slide the charaters morph on my left. any Help would be Great, Cheers

Start with selecting the character, go to Parameter Tab > Curently Used at the top and let us know what is there.  Every once in a while, creators screw up and affect the base character. If we can find what morps are being loaded, we can see if there is an update for the character

There are occasions when "Currently Used" doesn't show those morphs/installed characters, which have been distributed with non-zero default value - Maybe the logic is, that when the morph is at it's default value, it's not being "used", even though it shows in each and every character that uses the same base figure.

    1. Load your base figure or the developer version.

    2. Select "Show Hidden" in the Parameters-Tab, drop down menu (right-click)

    3. Zero the figure (Found in Parameters-Tab, drop down menu)

    4. Memorize the figure (Found in Parameters-Tab, drop down menu)

    5. File->Save As->Support Asset->Save Modified Assets

This procedure will zero the default value in the ill-behaving morph/morphs, and while saving DS also shows you a list of the morphs it is changing.

THANK YOU NEMESIS 10 I Did as you asked and its fixed now, i really appreciate your help thanks a million.

  • Log Warnings: On Character (G8F...of course) Load

    Build 4.12.1.117
I am spending some effort this weekend trying to trim down my load times and clean up my Daz.  That means unistalling a ton of G8F Characters & Morphs and updating to the latest version of Daz.
Got a question about loading/load times
I deleted my Log File after Daz started up so I'd have a clean one when I started loading the Base G8F.  I have got the load time down from about 5:45 minutes to just over two minutes (2:09)... but I am curious about these warnings.
Some will say that it doesn't matter... but If I am not reading it wrong, The bulk of the time is taken up between the warnings... Like 2:02 of the 2:09 my load time takes.
What gives?  If I can get rid of the warnings... will have a 10 second load time?  Or is everything really being loaded in that 2:02 minutes and the Log is just reporting the errors?
Here is my entire log for just loading a Base G8
