  • Character Mixer for All Genesis Figures; If anyone buy it, I'd like to ask you one thing

I just don't get why anyone would want randomly generated characters. For me, the most creative aspect of this hobby is to slide those morph adjusters to make a character that is unique and convincing. That's probably 80 percent of the reason I indulge in this hobby. I'll go further and say that I rarely, if ever, use a commercial character "out of the box". Those I buy serve as the basis for my own variations.

Because it is just fun to see what comes out.

Nah ... still don't get it. I wish I had the talent to create from scratch but, failing that, manipulating morphs is the creative outlet I'll settle for in the absence of pure sculpting skills. What kind of satisfaction (or fun, for that matter) is there in pressing a button to produce some random result? I'm really not being sniffy about artistic merit here, just questioning the point of a utility which removes the primary purpose of this hobby, IMHO.

I guess if I had to churn out characters for game development then it might be a different story, however. But I don't and, if I did, I probably wouldn't be using DAZ Studio to do so.

I think that if you have to make money or tomorrow-presentation you will fully understand why we need these stuffs. Art is our priority when we've got money enough. But timing is the priority when we still have to chase for money.

It is a hobby for me. I wouldn't have a clue about making money from it. And I wouldn't say that I have "money enough" either - trying to manage on a state pension. Nor is art my priority, I'd say that enjoying the process of making pictures is my aim but I wouldn't claim that those pictures qualify as art, nor are they intended to.

A quick question - if it was a fitted figure instead of a prop would that work better? If so its then easy to actually take each button, use the transfer utility to fit it to the parent clothing item instead. That will give you a button figure fitted to the clothing. Would that make it easier in Unreal?

Just thought I'd share some variations on my latest purchase  Toon Eren for Toon Generations 2. The girl on the left is combined with Kallisto and uses DC Mira's skin and the girl on the right is combined with an African morph and uses Grace's skin. Eren is very versatile.

i know right now in the music industry randomizers are becoming a must in every synthetizer. its good to see its coming to visual arts nowadays. i reckon people are trying to save time more and more then starting out from raw/scratch. Been there done that. A.I. is coming faster and soon computers would generate everything for you.

    Can't agree more.

Sometimes I want to do quick and dirty things for diversify unimportant people. These scripts help a lot.

As Gordig said above, many people find they are creating the same looking characters over ad over again- the same way fine artists often have a 'look' to their characters. For those people, it is a way to break out of the mold that they fall into because they find certain features attractive and subcinciously keep steering twords them.

exactly. i am no visual artist, hence im using daz. it seems all talents end up with that in the end lead you to the same 'look' feeling due of the artist's preference, personal liking and developed habit. The procedural tech that uses sliders, knobs, and randomization to morph for variation is a blessing.

But dont get me wrong, if i dont like certain parts, to zbrush you go and sculpt/edit it manually. I wish i have the talent to create a character from scratch, but i wasnt trained since early age....and i am not gonna put in the time now that we have all this amazing techs..

  • Copying Shaping Values

"Copy Selected Items" will try to copy everything about the selected Genesis figure. It's not what you need for an operation this small. Click on the numerical value of the source morph - it should highlight the value. Then hit ctrl-c to copy the number as text. Go over to the second figure, and click on the numerical value of the target morph, and hit ctrl-v to paste.

  • Copying Shaping Values

    Hi all,

I am having difficulty figuring out how to copy the shaping values from one character to another.

In my scene I have 2 Genesis figures (The regular version 1 kind - not the newer Genesis figures). I go to the shaping tab of a selected Genesis figure and highlight on the nose width shaping morph. I right click on the morph and select 'Copy Selected Item(s)'. I then select the other Genesis figure, select the nose width shaping morph and try to select paste but the paste context menu doesn't open up and I can't get the value to paste over the current value. Is there a way to do this manually or do I need to write a script that does this?

    Thanks!

  • [Released] Bette for Genesis 8 Female (I'm back!) [Commercial}

Oh I bought it & I already found & used that cleavage morph.

I was just thinking I could use a his & hers stylized set of toon characters that was different than what I already have; which is already almost everything in the DAZ Store but none of it was 'quite completely there' for all I wanted. This is a big step in the right direction.

I'm very happy with this product.

Great work and your fastidious work ethic shines through in the promo art.

  • j.cade is Back! And brought the adorable Bette!

    Thank you for beta testing!

I should 100% go to sleep now, but I will post the absolute dumbest image from the commecial thread I just stuck up (also instead of sleeping)

Is this an incredibly stupid render based on a meme? Yes

Is that out of focus fella possibly what I'm currently working on? :)

Oh nice! We need more toon/stylized guys - he's looking good! :D

Honestly after making his morph I don't blame anyone, stylizing a male character is way harder - Stylizing women is easy: just give her big googly eyes and you're mostly there. But big googly eyes, in addition to being one of the main signifires of stylization, are also a big signifier of femaleness. So you stick them on your male character and your options are either super childlike or super offputting (or both). Getting a male character that looks stylized to the same degree, but also appealing and suitibly masculine is way more of a balancing act

(I have some really terrifying abandoned attempts. Eye-bleedingly terrifying abominations)

Thanks everyone mentioning the group promo! Its probably one of the more involved renders I've ever done, So I'm glad it shows.   I should mention I did use https://www.daz3d.com/together-brotherhood-poses-for-genesis-8-male-s as a base the Eva and Darcy blends required only a bit of tweaking and I then built out from there. It was pretty fun

Wow, another great mystery solved - I was pretty sure, that j.cade is a men.

TBF I'm pretty gender ambivalent. I'd say NB but that is a level of commintment that overstates things

Wow, another great mystery solved - I was pretty sure, that j.cade is a men.

People with abbreviated first names are frequently women who don't wish to advertise that fact. This is in contrast to people like M. Emmett Walsh and C. Everett Koop, who also go by rather unambiguously male middle names.

j.cade is actually short for Jack Cade. So technically I shortened it to be less male. I kept Jack for about a week until I realized not everyone shared my love of Medieval peasant uprisings/random minor Shakespearean characters. Its a hold over from my edgy teenage highschool years when I had a keychain thing that said "The first thing we do, lets kill all the lawyers' Henry VI, Part II. Which, yes, I am aware is not actually said by Jack Cade but one of his followers, after which he agrees. However the line is still associated with him and Jack Cade is a way cooler user name than "Dick the Butcher" It would be very difficult to sell products as DickButcher

  • Cross converted Morphs sharing allowed?

I just wanted to be nice to others, so peoples who buy it can use it. The original item was for G8F, but when you autofit it on G8M, the bones get deleted and replaced by original G8M bones and all morph sliders will not find the old rigging indeed :(

I just wanted to help and share joy...

But well, when the Rules say no, then no -_-'

    (I'm out of this thread)

Oh man... and I didnt even wanted money for it, just giving the morph to the Original Product creator, that other users can now use it too :(

    I hate these limits...

    But thanks for answering.

  • Cross converted Morphs sharing allowed?

If you had created the original morph (the actual raw shape) then you would have the right to distribute it, and so would have the right to distribute the conversion. Doing the conversion step cannot grant you rights you did not have initially.

No, they are still derivatives of the original and so bound by the license.

But it says "For content creators, this helps customers use your product across both male and female figures."

does that not mean, me as Morph creator can now use the morphs O_o to share them....

    You didn't create the morph.

uhm... I did it with the help of the script.
