Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 2Here are a couple of tests of my Naomi Scott after what I hope are some further refinements to her nose.
Now I can't stop staring at the nose, lol - I think it's better but still looks slightly too squared off. I'd love to see the morph with a skin-tone closer to the one by ChadCrypto above.
Nvidia Ampere (2080 Ti, etc. replacements) and other rumors...kenshaw, You don't think that sort of money would get you a pair of 2080ti in 2-3 months?I doubt it. People always claim people are going to dump cards when the new line comes out. It never happens.
Further where's the incentive? What new game is coming along that will make someone just have to drop $1500+ on a 3090. Flight sim 2020? I really can't see it. Cyberpunk 2077? Maybe but by most accounts it isn't really that hard to run.
There was a reason Jensen was targeting the 1080ti owners yesterday. I'd like to get the extra VRAM to do crowd scenes but I'm very happy with my render speed on my 1080ti/2070 combo and the 1080ti is a great gaming card. I'm in no hurry to upgrade.

Various forums are crawling with people looking for the 3090. These people want the best, period. They don't care what it costs. They don't care how much electricity it uses.
Just having 60 fps is not good enough anymore. Just like you refuse to believe that even consoles will be doing 120 fps...when we've already had multiple games state out right that they will in fact do exactly that. There are new 360 fps monitors getting released as we speak. Nvidia used super high frame rates as a selling point in their presentation, they know this a big deal to a core group of gamers.
And if that is not enough, why don't you just go look at ebay right now, and look at the completed auctions for the 2080ti. I looked just yesterday and some people were still asking $1000. Well today that has dropped. I now see $750 and $700 as a common "buy it now" price, or best offer. In just a day these cards dropped $250 in value. You can also find auctions that ended with $500. For a 2080ti people. These are not too common yet, but they have happened. These cards are coming from the people who want the best at any cost. So some of these people don't really care if they sell for that low of a price.

You can find these and more on ebay. One of the current auctions showed that the 2080ti was "trending a $1000" the last 90 days. Hmmm, I think that trend is about to take a decided down turn.
So don't say it never happens. It is quite literally happening right now. Go look for yourself. And it has happened many times before...that is why people say it in the first place. I bought my own 1080tis this way! Both of my 1080tis were purchased for less than $500 each, thanks to sellers who were buying 2080tis. You cannot possibly be more wrong about this stuff.

Most are from sketchy AF sellers. See the ones that say parts only. Those guys are only selling disassembled cards. I assume those are Chinese sellers selling parts from the actual factories. That's a lot of labor to get a cheap card.
I urge you to rush out and buy those. How are you at soldering SMT's? I haven't done it in 20+ years and would have to buy a soldering station.
I know it is popular to diss New Jersey, but damn dude, I wouldn't say they are part of China yet. And oh, this one has 100% positive feedback, too. But I guess that sounds so sketchy! I mean, he is in New Jersey. You sure seem to assume a lot of things.

So I didn't check on the parts only ones on the first quick look. OK, sure. But there are PLENTY more fully functional cards out there in the $500-700 range. Now remember, this was a $1200 card, $1200 vs $550....hmmm. The fact is people are getting rid of their cards. Cards are flooding the market, and when you have a flood of products hitting a market...prices drop. That's business 101. I am sure you have observed this in your field of work, correct? Some of these are extremes, but it is very easy to find a used 2080ti for $600-700. At $650, that is only half the original price (or less, as so many 2080tis often sold for way more than that.) Just last week these same cards were almost universally going for $1000 and up on ebay. They have lost a lot of value in just days. Something must have happened a few days ago to cause this wild fluctuation. Maybe I am just speculating?
BTW, many of these 2080tis should still have a warranty on them, depending on brand. Since they launched in Sept 2018 they should still have 1 year of warranty left on them. Though buyers might want to double check that the brand they want allows warranties to transfer. I know that EVGA allows it, from my own experience. I believe MSI does as well, I have not checked other brands. So if you do buy one and it croaks on you, you still have a recourse at least with EVGA. No soldering required! Just postage. I paid around $20 to ship my dead 1080ti across the country to EVGA, and they paid to ship it back. And again, I bought that card used off ebay for $500. I never gave EVGA a dime.
These prices may not hold for a long period of time. I do think that once people start getting their new cards, prices will stabilize a bit. But they will never go back to close to $1000. Not when the 3080 blows it away so badly. The 3070 may lack 3 GB, so the 2080ti still holds that advantage over it. But if the 16GB version of the 3070 is ever released, oh boy. All things considered, I think that if the 3070 16GB is ever released, it will only cost $100 more. If that happens, and you have a 16GB GPU that is faster than the 2080ti and costs only $600, then the 2080ti prices will absolutely plummet for sure. Why would anybody want a 2080ti after that point?
MDD ImportCurrently I made my first animation. I created a dress in Marvelous Designer for G8F. In Daz I putted together an animation of aniBlocks for the girl and exported it via MDD in MD. So far so good. But then it became difficult. How to bring the animated dress back to Daz? Finally I found a 5years! old tutorial by Jay Versluis what said I have to export it as obj sequence. I did and it worked but for my 1min animation it created 1256 obj's - a huge amount of disc space. And all of them just to create morphs to simulate the animation. Marvelous Designer has MDD export - but Daz has no import. Maybe someone knows a more modern methode for the transfer but if there isn't one I would like to get that MDD import or even better a bridge to MD AND back. Bridges seem to have an economic boom in these days ;) In times where we are planning to fly to the Mars it should be possible - I hope...
HELP - Correct way to rig loose clothing?HI Everyone,
I've created a custom hoodie model which I made in Marvelous Designer.
I don't know the correct way to rig it to my characrer in Daz3D.
I've attached images of the hoodie before and after applying the Transfer Utility.
As you can see it tries to shrink wrap the hoodie around the breasts. How do I prevent this from happening?
Also I'm sure I will most likely need some kind of custom bone or rigging to get the hood to deform correctly when the character turns her head.

Once more: my search is for a pair of men's trousers that have a morph to unzip [i]only the fly[/i]. The waistband button stays done up, the pants stay around his waist. Imagine you've just walked up to a urinal in a public washroom, and need to "unlimber your weapon." You don't take your pants off, you just undo the zipper.
Still, I don't mean to sound ungrateful for your helpful impulse. Almost a year later, and I'm still making do (not that I need this often!) with a mesh made for Michael 3, so anything that might further this search is welcome.

What Character is This (from the MadeWithDAZ section on front page)Edie, like her counterpart Ollie, is an incredibly distinctive morph, so they're easy to spot unless they're dialed in with a very light touch.
Anyone figure out Geograft Morphs?In the new bridge, I've been having trouble with geograft prop morphs transferring to UE4, they appear in the morph export selection dialog, but are not editable in UE4. Anyone got any good workarounds?Does it matter if the character has high heels?Should all the characters be in flat shoes, or does unreal work with characters in heels?

ok, the heels is a little "hit or mess what's gonna matter are the animations, if the animations you are using are for "flat shoes" then no issue you can have both heels and flat characters using that animation with no issues, if the animations are for "heels" then the flat can be messed and only work with the heels or maybe in some rares not even work, then pay attention to the animation.
Another problem is which if you know how to use with multiple meshes in a single character, or how to change characters bp in game then is important which normally you can't have "both cases", what i means is for exemple: a character using a flat shoe or being on his own feet, it gonna then you allow him to "change to another type of boot or shoe with heels, the "animation normally not gonna also "change if the animation is using a skeleton retargeted from a "flat feet pose" then it gonna keep using it, you must find a way (which i don't know) to readjust the feet angle in the animatin to "match the heels" or find a way to change the "skeleton from the "flat"version base pose to heel version base pose, which what is matter the "base pose of skeleton because animations can use only 1 pose as base" at time not multiples.
Okay...so it sounds like it's a bit of a work in progress...on how to work through this....
So many of my characters have heels...it definately will make it a challenge.

the problem specially with the bridge is which it don't allow you have multiple skeletons, you have only one for all characters(they share the same skeleton), then when "retargeting" a animation you can use only one pose per time, which means you must have a "pose" for flat feet and one for "heels or multiple poses for multiple heels angles, otherwise you would have "multiple skeleton each one with his own "pose".
if all the characters use heels and the heels angle are the same or almost the same then the issue will be 0 or none, as long the animation you are using is fleet and you "skeleton" is market to use skeleton in the feet", if you have diferent characters using "diferent shoes with diferent angles going from flat to high heels then be ready to do a lot of work to proper adjust the mesh base pose for each type of "heels", boots angle.
the most basic and easy solution would be you have one skeleton/rigging for each character then retargeting each animation for each character, since the bridge is not made to have multiple skeletons a "workaround solution would be you export the characters without using the bridge which would make you lose a lot of it's "life of quality" stuffs, but it would allow you have multiple characters also using multiple skeletons, or the "other way to work on it would be add multiple "base poses" then making a blueprint to call each one based on the "shoes" or maybe exporting the morph target for "heels" which daz have and use it to "change the feet angle" or in last case find a way to change it maybe using ik adjusts like some ik locomotion systesm but in this case the feet will adjust based on the character itself, well you must look for the better way to fix it.
otherwise you or aways must use "high heels characters or some "level of high heels" or aways flat feet characters mixing both is when it's become problematic.
and to be fair all those stuffs are about "retargeting animations" if you already have animations made with daz characters on both heels and flat feet then no real deal, it's only if you are going to retarget animations which are not from daz any animation made using daz characters before install will work fine.

I've bought XTransfer because I got the impression it was based off of SingularBlues prior morph transfer scripts that were deleted from the forums. SingularBlue's scripts worked quite well. The 1st version was better than the expanded 2nd version though in accuracy.
I have not bought the other product you linked too.
Villain Horde BundleI like Overkill. The rest I'm somewhat MEH about. I used to buy Jolab's content... But the baked in details drive me nuts. Plus I still have a ticket open for the teeth of one of their monsters Hell's Ambassador which shows up as a morph when I save poses. It has never been fixed. I don't buy content from Pas' when they produce buggy products which dont' get resolved.
The rest are just rando females of various stripes thrown in and a few aliens. PASS...?
Someone Please Help MeSince those are files with Victoria8 in the name in the Genesis 3 Female folder I would suspect theya re the result of some kind of morph conversion - have you used a tool to do something like that?
Not that I know of, is there a way to know what is causing the problem?
Asset-Transfer Utility-Projection Templates missing.I have recently been trying to learn to import clothing as objects from marvellous designer into Daz Studio and convert them to clothes. The process to do so as best as I can tell, unless you are just rigging the meshes manually, is to use the Asset-transfer utility options in the window pane menue to apply pre existing rigging from a figure that you would like to fit the object to as clothing. I have managed this in the past with no issues (I was still running 4.12 I believe but had not yet switched from the install manager to Daz Central) scince then however, when I attempt to do this The list of Projection templates has mysteriously contracted from it's former length to only, none/ dresses> knee length/ full body/ hair> short or hair> shoulder length.
I've tried using the transfer utility with a number of figures, with other clothing that is already rigged and with freshly spawned figures and the list is these five options or nothing at all. I have attemped to uninstall and reinstall the program and the starter essentials kits that supposedly contain the data for the projection templates to no avail.Geometry is deformed when the animation loadshere a image:

that is the funny part, lol, i'm already removed the geoshell, somehow if i also add the geshell then i will ending having 3 "horse meshes" 2 from the gregraft and one from the geoshell, i don't el why but for some reason the "geograft is "generating 2 meshes" when exporting, one being just the "horse part and antoher being the full centaur(horse+human torso), due to the "human torso being invisble it get deleted during the transfer however the horse not got deleted and i'm ending having 2 horses parts one over the othe without the geoshell, and i would love if you can make a small tutorial about how you fix that opacity part which in the past also give me trouble with centaur 7, i would love to know how to proper fix the gap between human and horse texture transition.

I just use the textures provided imported as layers and the erase brush set to about 50% and a fuzzy brush to rub out the top layer so it blends
flatten image and export a new one
you need to do it for every torso texture though
horse one underneath, is not perfect as UV's different
the geoshell transmap gives you an idea where to line up the horse texture underneath
to get it exact I would need to use Zbrush Zprojection or Ultimate Unwrap 3D repaint

Including a fox, and a wolf, and a newborn puppy.
They ought o be able to use the LAMH presets for the Hivewire dog as well.
I'll be grabbing these once I have a bit more disposable cash. I hesitated signing up with another Daz marketplace, but her plethora of morphs for the HW Big Dog and upcoming bear and elephant convinced me as it's been a while since hw3d did anything significant with their dog. The mesh was updated two years ago to accomodate the puppy morph, but they have yet to update some of the poses, accessories and morph packs. One of the reasons I bought Daz Dog 8 was because I updated the hw big dog and didn't realize the mini morph pack (which allowed for additional shaping in the body) and bandana would be rendered unusable, thus killing a character I was working on.
The problem with LAMH is anything that isn't by AM doesn't have a Catalyzer preset...and LAMH for Iray without Catalyzer is nopenopenopenopenope. I have a 1080TI and it's still like N-O-P-E! if I try to do anything more with a LAMH animal besides just pose and render by itself. I have quite a few HiveWire animals that I don't use for that reason. I would gladly pay AM to put together Catalyzer presets for other animals.

Looking for 60s hairstyle - bangs with scarf - solved Sae hair - add my own scarfGood points. If you have something specific in mind, like the Brave hair, it is good to have options to do it yourself. A few years back, I wanted to be able to do a little Fanart with Speed Racer and the gang. Kitbashing can get pretty far. Speed is wearing a golf shirt with a decal. No problem to kitbash from my runtimes (OK, more than a couple of years back). But Trixie had a shirt like a potato sack with bows at the shoulders. Ugh, no way to morph a sleeve to a shoulder bow (well, unless you are named JoeQuick). I needed to be able to model to add the bows as accessories.
I picked up the Slosh hair resource Colorworks shaders for Iray https://www.daz3d.com/colorwerks-hair-shaders-for-iray during the build your own fastgrab sale. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I am hopeful that it solves a lot of problems.
Reconsidering the style that sparked this thread - hair band and bangs, I think I could model with a traditional polygon mesh using Hexagon or Carrara (in Carrara could use its strand hair and a free strand-to-mesh plugin by Philemo). After my current project, I want to learn strand hair for the extra tool in my 3D toolbox.
