DAZ 3d cannot find a character, even though it's in the library folder

Grey means not installed at all. Coloured but with the circled triangle means installed by a method other than using Daz Studio itself.
Thanks for your clarification. The last item in my PDF file was for Expressions for Little Ones which was installed via DIM. The expressions are available for the Little Ones characters but the icon for Expressions for Little Ones ae grey in the Install tab and in Smart Content. Trying to figure out Daz Studio’s file installation and organization schemes (Install tab; Smart Content; Content Library mapped folders, files and Products; Connect; DIM; Daz Central) can be frustrating.

There is also a link at the foot of every product Library page in your account that is for a DIM-installed item.
Thanks, Richard.
Any thoughts on what's up with DAZ Central?
It's Daz Central, no other thoughts required.
I am admittedly biased against it.
File not found errorsCentral is the simplified (dumbed down) version of DIM, Connect is the installer integrated in to DAZ Studio through Smart(not!) Content. Never use either Connect or Central.
Problems with Daz CentralHi, IDK really if this is a bug or what, but has anyone have had problems with Daz Central? I mean on the DAZ website, the minimal system requirement is: OS 10.7 and above ( I'm talking about MAC )
I'm running 10.10 and still, it gives me the message that the minimum requirement is 10-12 :-( :-( fist of all it wouldn't be fair, secondly ... WHY the discrepancies? And I can't link to my account when I open the app :-(
Does anyone have any hint?Thank you in advance for any help ^_^
RenFile not found errorsIt's also possible that you had, inadvertently, installed via Connect (through Daz Studio) and then removed the files, so the system was failing to find those (which it will always use, if declared to be present, rather than a manual or Install Manager/Central install).
Can I remove old content out of product lists? You should not have switched. Central is a dumbed down version of DIM so in this case newer is not better.

Man, I have to finally admit, Daz Central is a complete waste of time. I have an M1 machine as well and it's crashing like crazy. Not only that but it actually makes you click on everything to install. There's no select all anywhere and I've looked. If anybody knows of one let me know. in the meantime I'm going back to using DIM
While I am sure that Daz is aware that some M1 users, at least, have had crashing issues it may be worth opening a ticket to add another bit of information.
However, you are right that for batch installing and other features Install Manager remains the better choice. Daz Central is designed to provide a simpler experience for new users, but that does come at the expense of fewer options for those who whish them - which is why both continue to be developed.

How did you install? If through Install Manager, Daz Central, or manually did you redownload the Genesis 8 Starter essentials zips to make sure you have the current version? If through Daz Studio itself it's possible the files did not install correctly (and if that is the case, manual or Install manager/Central installs will not help) - try right-clicking on the product and seelcting Browse to product Location, or right-click on a file and Browse to File Location, then check through to see if theer are any 0 byte .part files. You coudl also look at the end of Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File after getting that message to se if there are any helpful messages saying what files it thinks are missing.
Hey! I've tired all, through Daz Central, DIM and manually, yet still having the issue. Now when pressing install, it starts then disappears instantly as it obviously notices it has it installed already. I'm really not sure what to do, it's messing with my render queues.
I recently reinstalled Daz and have custom Daz folders, but all are added a directories and I even tried to clean install Daz earlier and reinstall it fresh. Any idea which folders I should check specifically?
Since you get this inside DS and you allow the installation, it means that you have also installed the starter essentials inside DS which renders all the other installation methods non-relevant.
Whatever is installed within DS, is being installed to a completely different location and gets priority over all the other installation methods, even when the installation gets botched which it often does.
Inside DS, go to 'Smart' Content, locate the product and try to uninstall, close DS, wait a while and start again - Can you load G8/G8.1 characters without warnings?
In the future do not log in to DS, but use it in offline mode.
I uninstalled it and pressed work offline, restarted and and loaded up a scene file I've been getting the pop up in and still got it (but now it's greyed out rather than blue). Beyond frustrating - how do I log out permanently? I've never really used install manager, I like to keep my directories tidy so install manually, I'm guessing the problem has been caused from here somewhere. It's just this one issue I'm having, but need to fix it so it doesn't stop my render queue from running over night.
I can load a Gen8 character fine, but not surprised as I've installed this into each five of my directories manually so I doubt they'd be an issue. It's frustrating as it's clearly installed. Any suggestions? Thanks for the input btw!

Scripts menu disappeared?Did you remove any content libraries from the content directory manager? Did you uninstall any referenced items from Daz Connect and install them with DIM or Central instead, which essentially moves them from one content library to another?Updates anyone?I use Daz Central and I love it. I have a question:
How do I do the updates on the Daz Studio. I get a notification saying I have a message and it seems the Das Studio has an update. Now how do I do that. I click on the message and I see no place to update my studio. The messge just stares back at me. Now how do I go about updating the Daz studio in Daz Central. I love Central but with the old DIM you got updates when you made a purchase, now the Central just quickly uploads the new purchase but I don't see where to update the studio in Central.
SOS
File Errors with 3DU's PaigeThanks for your reply. I installed through Daz Central and I did uninstall and reinstall with no change (I should have noted that in the original post).
Moving DAZ Studio to my D driveRichard Haseltine said:
1) probably not - it's more likely that, assuming the content you have added includes morphs and characters and that the slow down is in scenes with figures, the number of potentially linked proeprties DS has to scan through on each adjustment is having an impact.
2) yes, Install manager and Daz central store absolute locations but Daz Studio itself is interested only in the relative location of fiels within the content directory, so you can move (and/or rename) the My Library folder as long as you tell Daz studio where it has gone via Edit>Preferences>Content tab>Content Directory manager.
Thank you, Richard, as always.
