Hi. I've just picked up the accelerator for ultra scenery and I have problems.

I have ultrascenery v1.3 installed and the Script version is 1.3.3.1

UI for accelerator and inside of daz plugins pane it says my accelerator version is 1.0.2.4

Everything is installed through Daz Central. The plugin worked without accelerator fine, now it runs through a few parts really fast and then hangs, usually at the creating instances stage or creating aspens instances or something like that. I have uninstalled , re installed through DC and then restarted computer and same issues.

I tried to look at the manual zip file from account product page but there is no .dll inside of the zip file to swap out in the 64bit/DAZ3D/DAZSTUDIO4/plugins folder.

    Help cheers.

Uninstall everything UltraScenery related, and use DIM to install.

How can I download DS nd get it working like a normal app without filters?

Download, but not install, through DIM

or download manually from your product library.

    And yeah, avoid Central...

  • Can we please have a freakin' Zbrush forum? Also more questions.

"but you can hide all but one group, apply the texture to that, hide that and show one of the others to texture, and so on "

That's...weird, but OK. I'll give it a try, thanks.

"make of this what you will, if you want a cheaper program that paints all the overlapping UV maps simultaneously it's called  Carrara"

Hate to tell you, but Carrara has as much life left in it as Poser.

Besides, there's always ZBrush Central; a forum where many ZBrush experts hang out and are more than happy to help out.

They would laugh me right out of there if I asked how to use Zbrush in connection with DAZ Studio, that's why I have to ask here.

"single out a poly group by pressing control-shift and while keeping this pressed click on a group. I went for the shaft, seemed easier. Expand texture map (within the same tool pallete), then import the texture from DS using the location you copied earlier."

OK so if I understand, what you're basically doing is manually recreating the surfaces that the original DS model had, but with polygroups in Zbrush? I was going to ask if textures would work if that method was done, so you may have already answered that. I'll need to test some of this stuff and will get back to you. Thanks very much.

    SnowSultan said:

C'mon, we've got forums for NFTs and 3DS Max but not for the program that most PAs are using to actually make the stuff that's sold here?

Although I do agree that it would be cool, I also believe that the amount of questions that actually get asked over here hardly validate this. I'm not claiming to see everything happening here, but I am a bit of a ZBrush nut myself and take interest whenever I see it mentioned over here. Despite that... I'm not too sure.

Besides, there's always ZBrush Central; a forum where many ZBrush experts hang out and are more than happy to help out. Though, in all honestly, seems less activate than the Daz forums.

Is it normal for the surfaces of objects that are sent from DAZ Studio to Zbrush via GoZ to be converted to polygroups? I could have sworn that I had an axe come over to Zbrush with its different surfaces converted to polygroups, but I've tried several other objects and figures since and all are coming over with one single polygroup.

No, that doesn't happen. When you sent a mesh over into ZBrush using GoZ you do not get separate polygroups, only one. However, as mentioned by others above me, you can try to use the UV mapping to generate the right groups ("Auto groups with UV"). However... this isn't perfect and you may need to subdivide your mesh a few times to get better results. For example.. I'm still a huge fan of Genesis (the first generation) and I'm using ZBrush to expand on this, including... editing skins (poly paint for the win).

The only problem is that skins in Daz Studio ("DS") are split up, so...  I import my Genesis figure, I sub-divide by 4 or 5 (depends a bit), then I use the "Auto Groups With UV" option but more than often this isn't enough; nails don't always get sorted out. So then I use "Merge similar groups" which usually results in a set of polygroups which resemble the UV maps in Daz.  (offtopic but...  I then single out the poly group I want and apply the texture for that single group only, rinse and repeat and you can somewhat easily polypaint your Genesis character).

But that's a bit besides the point here... normal behavior is indeed to have a single polygroup in ZBrush by default. Press Shift-F, you'll see.

I'm trying to figure out how to apply a diffuse map texture to objects sent to Zbrush from DAZ Studio, but obviously they won't work if the surfaces are completely lost during transfer. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yah, you need my approach above.

See, the problem here is that Daz Studio ("DS") often (not always) divides a texture into different groups, whereas ZBrush ("ZB") does not. Well, not necessarily. But it all depends on context.

Anyway, you mentioned an axe, I looked for (and found) one but it seems this is a freebie I got from one of the "other" websites. Even so, if makes for a good example. I attached a screenshot ("Axe_DS"), notice how one axe has separate surfaces? Make sure you know how to use the "Surfaces" pane in DS so that you can not only identify this, but also know where the textures are located (click "Browse" but don't change anything, instead only copy the current location).

If you sent that into ZBrush you'll get a single polygroup. So.. use the "Autogroups with UV", which you'll find under "Tools". This should work, if not then you may need to sub-divide your mesh. With a simple prop like this I have no issues, but when working on Genesis, I need to subdivide. Anyway, see "axe_ZB" for an example.

So now comes the cool part...  single out a poly group by pressing control-shift and while keeping this pressed click on a group. I went for the shaft, seemed easier. Expand texture map (within the same tool pallete), then import the texture from DS using the location you copied earlier. Repeat this for the other poly groups if needed and... well, the result should be something like "axe_texture", I once again marked the important parts.

Oh, right, be aware that you need to "Clone" the texture if you want to export this back into DS at some given time. A "tool texture" within ZB (as I like to call it) isn't the same as a regular texture or UV map. figured I'd mention.

I hope this can provide some usefull info here.

As mentioned above, this is roughly the procedure I use whenever I want to apply changes to a Genesis skin. I add the mesh, make sure the poly groups match the surfaces in DS, then single out the group and apply the "tool texture". Rinse & repeat when needed.

What is "content"? Where did that folder come from?

Hmm, that is not the usual error. But still, the Daz Central screen shot is not relevant - your folder images show that there is (or is said to be) a Connect install, and that will be used in preference to the Daz Central install. Right-click on the product icon in Daz Studio and select Uninstall to get rid of that (it's clearly not working anyway)and then try the script I linked earlier to make sure DS can find the Daz Central files.

  • Daz Studio keeps saying "File does not exist" when everything has been installed in DIM

DIM is still set to install to the default C: drive location. The screen shot of the file browser shows the downloaded zips, not the installed content from the zips.

What are your content directories in Daz Studio? Edit>Preferences, go to the Content tab, and click the Content Directory Manager button.

In any event, the lack of a circled triangle icon at top-right of the product thumbnail in the Daz Studio screen shot rather suggests that the product has been installed through Daz Studio, unsuccessfully, in which case any external isntalaltion (manual, Daz Central, Install manager) will be ignored.

I suspect the Daz Central isntalaltions are not being sen at all, those are daz Connect (through Daz Studio) instalaltions that have not worked, I think if you right-click and choose the Browse to Fiolder option you will find it is full of 0 byte .part files. Right-click on those and uninstall them, then download http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/file_io/install_manager_config_import/start (using the link above the code) and drag the file into the DS Viewport - that will, with luck, enable DS to see the files installed through Daz Central.

I'm attaching an image of the error message I get when I try to load Genesis 8 Starter Essentials.

I'm attaching screenshots of what happens when i browse to folder on the various smart tabs. I'm not sure if this stuff is downloading completely. I've been having problems where Daz central will continuously stop downloading the content and I have to manually restart it constantly. Dragging that file into the viewport didn't help anything.

EDIT: I've figured out a way to load some smartcontent, but not all of it. I will keep experimenting.

  • [tutorial] how to install manually the daz to unreal bridge without using any daz install program

hello guys, here i'm back with one more of my many "tutorials", as aways my intentions is try to help as much as i can the community and as aways "disclame" about my bad english and bla bla bla and srry any trouble.

then going back i've noticining many peoples having issues while "installing" or using for the first time the bridge and most of then used the "old tutorial video as base and it's seens it's a lot outdated then here's my tutorial about how to proper install yourself without using daz central or any other daz program to install the bridge my downloading it manually from the repository source and placing on the right folders to make everything works.

while it maybe not fix all the issues, maybe it can help some peoples with some install issues.

    here some important disclaimers

1 - currently we have 2 branchs the "daz oficial branch:

    https://github.com/daz3d/DazToRuntime/releases

which is currently a little outdated since its not support the 4.27 and the "unoficial branch more like "test or beta branch from the original pluging creator david:

    https://github.com/David-Vodhanel/DazToRuntime/releases

which normally are considered "beta version" which would have bugs and others stuffs then use it with "risk" but at last you get the latest release.

those 2 version have a slight important difference between then, which would be a little trick and important for many peoples to know.

the daz offcial is in a zip file where you normally find 2 files here a image

one is to copy to daz the other to unreal

one important thing before i can continue here, you must have the "basic knowledge" of "copy, paste and open folders of programs using windows and all that basic i'm not gonna teach because i'm pretty sure you have this basic knowledge and not just a "press buttom to install person to everything", right? RIGHT???? RIGHT?????????!!!!, LOL just kidding but you get it right, now going back.

the daz_studio is obvious as the nome says the file you must place in your daz studio installed folder, it will be a pluging then it must be installed in the pluging folder inside daz

this is the dll file inside the zip to go to daz

and this one is the folder where you must place it

you must place it into the "plugings" as the image show, the local disc will be the one where you instaled ofcourse like i've installed mine in E:/ProgramFiles, the root will be the one where you instaled you only have to really pay attention to the "pluging" directory.

disclaimer: i'm gonna use the david version here and it will look a little different because it have the last version add and also a small difference which i will talk later, Another thing this tutorial is more about when you have a "fresh unreal install without a pluging installed, in case you are "updating" and not just installing" maybe you must have do some "extra steps" in case you make some "changes" to the pluging base files like the "skeleton physic asset, then you have to make a "backup" of the modified files before "overwrite" the old version with the new one otherwise you have to do "all the work again" which will be not easy, once you are making the file go back to "it's original state", then pay attention to this "extra step" before updating your old version" make sure you have a copy of the "original file" or you really don't made any big change to the original file and don't need to worry about it and can replace/overwrite anything.

now for the unreal side you will go back to the folder where you unziped the file and open it

you will notice multiple folders for each engine version, choose the one or ones you are working, and open it "one per time", let's go with the 4.27 for now just for the sake of tutorial.

this is the folder you must copy inside the folder where you have the "unreal engine instaled, in this case the 4.27, here mine instalation

the i will open it and will be looking for the plugins folder too as it shows here:, normally you gonna find it inside the engine folder as it shows in the picture:

it's here where you gonna drop the "dead body lol i means the folde you copied from the zip

drop the daztounreal folder here, if it's a fresh install it just will copy if you are "updating" it will ask if you want to "replace"/overwrite all the files just say yes, again before do that make sure to backup any previous edited file you did otherwise you gonna lose the "work" and have to do again., you have to save only what you changed not everything.

now you have the "basic of the install process" and both unreal and daz ready to work with the bridge, later i will add more stuffs.

edit: i've almost forget to talk about the "small difference" between daz version and david, ok, if you are using david version instead of "daz" it not come with the "daz studio" folder as the daz come the dll plugin to add on daz you gonna find inside the daztounreal folder for unreal open it and look for the folder "resources", here you will find the dll file to be copied to the unreal plugin, then in case any zip file you download don't come with the folder daz studio you almost sure to find the dll on this other place.

ok for now i will leave that, later i will explain some extra steps and others stuffs but for now i will leave as this one to make the post don't look to big and split everything in small posts here on this thread.

then cya later guys and have fun.

  • DAZ Studio Installation Guide Mac

Has anyone been able to get DAZ Studio installed or running on a Big Sur Mac? It's not working for me.

I tried "Daz Central." It starts up and I log in. When installing Studio, it gets to 50% and then locks up. Nothing gets installed.

I entered a ticket with support, but they can't provide any answers. First, they gave me un-install instructions for Windows. Then, after explaining all I did to uninstall, they tell me to un-install. :) Their direction for un-installing software also leaves out plenty. Daz software leaves multiple files all over the system (even when using their un-install software)... support simply says to delete the one app file.

According to Daz, Studio is supposed to work on a Big Sur machine. Any ideas?

    Thanks for you help, Richard.

What DAZ products are going to install it.  The problem is I can't get DAZ to install.

I click Download Studio and agree to install DAZ Central. There's a button saying it's going to install DAZ studio. But then I get a message: "The path specified in the "Package Archive" field, on the "Downloads" page of the "Settings" dialog is not  currently available."

  • Installation Issue: Installation will begin after previous installations

This is simply nuts. On a Mac computer, Daz Central fails entirely to install DAZ Studio. I left it running for 24 hours with a high speed internet connection. Stops at 78% and stays there, no matter what. No error messages except "Installation will begin after previous installations" which isn't an error message--it's a failed fortune cookie slogan. Logs are equally obscure. Software components are installed at apparently random locations and the less said about the interface and scripting languages, the better.

On a Windows 10 computer, a similar thing happens. Daz Central gets to 86% (why?) and then returns to a splash screen, again with no user feedback or error messages, or any indication of what it's doing. The documentation lags far behind the software--the help files discuss Daz Install Manager (appropriately named DIM) as the installation method, not Daz Central, but give no clue how to download DIM. Even if you find the DIM download, the page requires a re-login followed by only giving the option "Save File" with no option to actually run it. It doesn't even say where it's saving the exe file! I'm a professional software developer with 30 years of experience and I find this extremely frustrating. How do new users ever succeed at getting this to work?

This is a company that doesn't know how to write software! Testing and quality assurance are just as important, perhaps more, as creating new code, because most of the cost of software is maintenance, not creation, and the less testing you do, the more maintenance you incur. That's a rule that goes back at least 40 years.

I'm trying to do a complete re-installation because the old copy kept crashing and hanging and taking ten minutes to load scenes. I've been attempting to do this for three hours on the Windows machine. I gave up on the Mac attempt. This is just insane!

Central is the simplified version of DIM.  Connect is the install method integrated in to DAZ Studio.  If you installed with either Central or DIM you should not being using Connect so switch off DS's on-line function.
