One of the vistas for which I see NFTs being useful is... in a Ready Player One sort of virtual world.   Now, imagine this future virtual-world system is something decentralized, very much like the world wide web is:  millions and millions of individual, independant servers all interconnected, each one owned seperately by individuals like you or me, or owned by small companies or big companies, but all allowing one to travel easily around between them and through them, say hi to their friends, visit neat vistas, and so on. .

This is in stark contrast to other means of having a virtual world system, where the whole thing was owned by one big company, i.e. like Second Life is now, or like Facebook's virtual world system they're trying to get people into, where a central committee of They can simply kick you out of the entire system if they don't like you.  This decentralized system would also be in contrast to that system AOL was trying to make at one point , back in the 90s or so, where they had an exclusive, AOL-members-only subset of the WWW that the rest of the world couldn't access.

You can't be kicked out of the WWW, just out of individual web-forums or the like.  You couldn't be kicked out of this future, decentralized virtual world system, either, though you could be kicked out of certain vistas in it if you, say, misbehave there.

This decentralized system isn't itself the NFT, this imagined future virtual-world is, however, a system that would be much more easy to make work well using NFT or using something like it, and would be a whole lot harder to get working if there wasn't something like NFT to build their technology around.

In this RPO-inspired virtual world, one could buy a virtual car, and his ownership of that car would be in the blockchain.  Now, imagine that car is a "no copy" item, meaning you can only rez one copy of it at a time.   Perhaps you left a copy of it parked in a virtual parking lot somewhere, and when you try to rez a new copy, either the system refuses to let you place it out where you are now, because it's checked the ownership of this virtual car against the blockchain and notices you have one already rezzed over there...  or it lets you rez the car here, and the server that has that virtual parking lot on it, upon peridically checking the blockchain about the objects it has on it, notices there's another one now rezzed, and that one over there then disappears. 

This is one of the really neat ways NFTs could be useful in the future.  Whether this NFT system ever goes that way, or the current NFT system, a virtual art ownership authentication system,  crumbles away due to being too far ahead of its time, and disappears, like happened with certain virtual-currency systems that came along before Bitcoin took off... and some other system like it takes its place when something like that RPO future comes along, only time will tell, though.

I just purchased the X BIT BUNDLE and I cannot install it using Daz central or Install manager. I also cannot get the files manually to install it. Please help.

As far as I know this is an issue with the downloader authorising itself to the server, or soemthing along those lines - it has nothing to do with your password getting access to your account. The issue has been passed up to the web team, but I don't have any information on what theya re doing or which other aprties (e.g. the CDN administrators) may need to be involved. It certainly isn't the way things are intended to be working.

Updated Studio, Central, and Install Manager today.  Now all my downloads are failing.  What gives?  Why is it necessary to go through so many acrobatics every time there is a simple update?

Recently I purchased some new stuff and DIM won't install it "Download Failed" is the message I'm getting. It worked just a couple days ago when I made my last purchase but not now. Help? I tried the new Central but it kept losing connection during the download of products so I reverted back to DIM.

They should be deleted from your order history when you return them, at which point they will nto show as available to download (of course you do need to uninstall them so there isn't a local copy, and remove the zip if using Install Manager - I didn't think Daz Central kep local copies of the zips). If theya re still showing in Daz Central ar they also showing in https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files ? If so please add a note to your return ticket, or start a new ticket, to report this to sales support.

Sounds like you have installed it wrong.

Depends on where DAZ Central made the installation and which folders you have specified in "Content Directory Manager" for DS to use.
Take a screenshot of the specified folders and show us.

If you search your drives for "JcmAssistController.dsf" in Windows Explorer, what is the complete path to the file, starting from the drive letter?

Sounds like you have installed it wrong.

Probably a safe bet that DAZ doesn't want this happening either and are trying to find a solution. Gotta love customers 

I cannot install any asset with DAZ Install (I get a message "download failed") or DAZ Central (0% appears and then the download stops immediately). It worked perfectly fine until yesterday. 

Does anybody have an idea of what could cause this issue? Thanks in advance.

Hi. I hope this is the right place to put this.

I'm pretty new to DAZ3D and I just now purchase CB Sophia HD with an interactive license: https://www.daz3d.com/cb-sophia-hd-for-genesis-81-female

However, no matter what method I use to try to install the file, be it DAZ Central, the install manager, or manual download, it does not work. DAZ Central will show an install bar for a brief second before going back to the green install button. The install manager says simply the download has filed. Trying to download the file manually takes me to a webpage that says the following:

 I purchase a DAZ product the other day and did not have any problems downloading it. Any ideas as to what's causing this?

It installed some of the content but I was getting "Download failed!" messages on some of the other items. My assumption is that there is some Daz store server glitch which is preventing the download and installation of this content.

So I thought I'd give Central a try again. I installed it. It immediately froze after about a minute like it has every time I've tried to use it since I first installed it after Big Sur compatibility was made available.

And now I've lost CMS again. I've tried all the same flips and twists I used originally to get CMS working and they've all failed. I no longer have access to my smart content.

Quite a few users have had issues with Daz Central on Big Sur, but as Frank says there seems to be a general issue with the .zip server at the moment affecting Daz central, Install maanger (which does seem good with Big Sur), and manual downloads.

Same here.  Both Daz Central and DIM aren't working.

I purchased Cloudscape Creator Volumetrics and I cannot download the product even though it is listed in DIM and Daz Central.  When I try to download through DIM I get a ''failed'' error, see attached image.

Why I cannot download the product ??
