Autofit gives its best results with hair, IMO. Because hair is so thick compared to clothing, "poke through" or its opposite aren't very apparent. Adding a smoothing modifier is sometimes a good idea, too. Autofit has made all the hair conversions I painstakingly made over the years obsolete. But almost all of the hairs in my library are for V3 and V4, and autofit is designed to convert V3/v4 conforming figures to Genesis, you will have different results if you use hair designed to conform to characters auto-fit doesn't recognize.

Smoothing modifiers also work for getting a tight fit with prop hairs, which is good because autofit only works with figure hairs. I like to add the prop hair to the scene, translate and scale it until it's as close as I can get it, then add a smoothing modifier, tweak, and done. Also, in my experience, most prop hairs have a "scalp" surface, or the like. In that case, it's very helpful to go into the surfaces tab and turn down the opacity in all of the hair's other surfaces to 0, so only the "scalp" surface is visible. Then you can get a much better idea of how the hair is actually fitting. Then turn the opacity back up when you're done.

There is a cobweb workaround if you have the Dynamic Clothing plugin for Studio. Use a dynamic cloth prop (there are some free ones at http://www.optitex-dynamiccloth.com/FreebieDownload01.php - I used the Bettie Page drape) and then create a cobweb texture image, and assign to the appropriate surface channels..

Thanks for your reply Ringo. I never understood why some hairs went to the model others to the head some had skullcaps and some had not. You say there are difficulties for the modeler working with the skullcap? Can you elaborate why? Which are the differences working one method or the other?

I have checked my bought hairs and have seen that all that had skullcaps work perfectly on Genesis, G2f and G2m simply dragging and dropping them on the "Actor" or on the head instances and those that applied directly to M4 and V4 model instance does not.

Based only on those I own I've made this list to help those who want to use old Carrara hairs on Daz market with the new Genesis figures:

I repeat this list is based only on those I bought some time ago. 3DCelebrity's and PhilW's are so good that I did the workaround Showed on the image above; parenting the invisible V4 to the Genesis and applying the same pose to both figures then tweaking V4 head to make it match.

I have not tried other possibilities but I think that probably I can use a V4 head with no body parented to Genesis head...

I can always buy the PC products back at the 1.99 price when this test run ends. No big deal about the price increase there because it will revert back- that's been mentioned repeatedly. (But I understand that if you want things now, it would be a bummer.)

While I can see that changes can at first be intimidating, I saw that DAZ had VERY CONVENIENTLY marked every single store that is in the summer promo with the PC+ sign- and I can instantly know which stores will have additional discounts. It's not hard to plop something in the cart and see the price. And if the price isn't right, it will be noted by someone on the forums fairly quickly and taken care of.

I know what roughly 50% of something is and go from there, add on a few bucks and it'll be about right. I know if it's a good price or not. I can see the frustration if you want to be precise, but I'd just jot down a range of them and keep them handy- no need to calculate over and over again. I did that during Snowball Sales and March Madness :)

I tested and put three of the summer promos in my cart so I get 50% off those participating PA stores. Then I put things in the cart from the participating + artists, which as I said, are conveniently marked. (To thank those artists for participating, thought I'd showcase them in this example.) AND THIS IS WITHOUT AN ADDITIONAL $6 OFF USING THE CODE. That whacks all of these down even further.

Seriously- it's quite an eye opener to see these prices. Good grief, a $16.95 character (Paige) to $11.87 to $5.93. I'm not pulling out a calculator or anything else- I'd just be scooping her up if I didn't have her.

For myself, to avoid the "What were the rules?" I just jotted down: (and not worried about GC's or memberships, just products) and lol, I hope this is right, it's working for me anyway!

If I were to get all this, I'd have to buy 3 things to get that 50% stacking discount with the + discount added, so those three items were

I tested with just buying one of the summer promos, and two of the summer promos, and if I had the money, of course just adding a third item to raise everything to 50% made sense. Again, this was a test cart. If I were only getting a few things, one or two summer promo items would be fine.

There will be people looking out for you if you have a question- and people noting if they see glitches so they can be fixed. The shoppers aren't diving in and hoping things will right- other shoppers and DAZ are supportive of those taking the plunge. Just remember what everyone else has said- this is probably not for you if you don't have a lot of the PC items already that you want- unless you are going to try this then scoop them up at the end of July or before a change is made permanently.

This program ends in July. The way I look at it, if I don't like the prices (what's not to like with PA prices like this? THANK YOU PA's!) then the stuff will be offered on sale at another time, be out of new status, etc. Those PC items will be back at 1.99 come Aug 1st.

OK, I've taken a look at the Paige dress. The whole dress is one material zone, so you'd have to create an additional one before you could turn the opacity down on the top. The strap can be made invisible and so can the belt.

Now that is interesting, the green background looks more like the promos. hmmm.

I didn't have time to put her in the hot tub right now :) but here's a quick comparison for you of Cassia with (green background) and without Olympia.

Only the head shape will be affected, it looks like the body is a custom morph and doesn't rely on Olympia (note: I didn't dial it into the G2F version shown here). Of course, you can morph G2F head to match more closely than the default G2F shape shown here.

Also features Paige dress with NYC Couture textures and of course Jewell hair.

FWIW, Cassia and Nidale are the 2 G2F characters I currently like best.

Update: I updated the G2F pics - these don't have any Olympia morphs but do show the Cassia part of the head morph. The forum software keeps re-ordering these, just remember pink = without Olympia, green = with Olympia.

Part One
Because he dreamed of a future world with flying cars, alien races, and towering buildings, Adam was both amazed and dazed when Sal and Angela invited him into the future. One morning in July of 1959, a mysterious little conservatory building showed up in the backyard of an unoccupied home in his neighboorhood. Young Adam, thirteen years old at the time, was wandering around in his usual restless state when he noticed the little building - and he noticed that it had a vaguely nebulous quality and a bit of sparkle. He jumped a fence and went to check it out and surprisingly was greeted by a booming voice.

"Hey, kid, yah gonna come over hea' an' visit o' not?"

Adam noticed them then, a short dark man wearing a red sportcoat with a tapestry vest and a very tall woman in a black shiny dress wearing a lots of makeup. Kind of a bizarre couple he thought, but they were smiling at him and there was something about them...
To keep this story somewhat brief - introductions were made; Sal and Angela took a strong liking to young Adam; they invited him to come back with them to their future world home; he agreed; off they went in the little building which, yes, was a kind of time machine.

Here it is on base Genesis with the skirts clone and also on V5 Supermodel. I've used the Dress Knee Length template. I need to do an update for SRMS to fix the Supermodel breast morph. Meantime I suggest deleting FBMVictoria5Supermodel from data/daz 3d/Genesis/Base/Tools/Projection Templates/SRMS Dress.

Does the Paige Dress convert properly with one of the new clones? That was the garment that caused me the most problems.
