Can Carrara... (Realism mini-challenges) WIP/RENDER THREADG 8.1 Female does not have textures (SOLVED)
I'm definatily in Iray Preview. I didn't even know that a Filament preview existed.
I loaded a Victoria 8 into the scene and it came out just fine with all of its initial textures and new ones could be added to it. But the V8.1 is still pure white.
G 8.1 Female does not have textures (SOLVED)Are you in Iray preview?
I had that and then realised I was in Filament preview.
Filament Ambience/glow if not emissionDoes anyone know how to add ambience to surfaces in Filament?
DAZ has not implimented emission even though the engine supports it, maybe D|S has a limitation that makes that impossible
but
just ambience like 3Delight with a light by it would help enormously, a way to exclude that surface from shadow or not render,
the latter could be used with png alpha to add ambience.
I have no scripting or coding skills/knowledge so no idea how hard this would be.
I shade everything but the light bulbs etc black and use openGL to render a glow layer to composite in Hitfilm which is a lot of work
because making every other surface black in DAZ studio keeping cutout opacity is not terribly easy either
Daz Studio 4.16[.0.x] Pro, General Release! (*UPDATED*)I honestly don’t know what I know anymore. I’m told that D|S cannot run under Big Sur until QT is updated and the libraries are mostly rewritten from the ground up. I ask if it’s possible to add Filament to the Mac version, and I’m told that it can’t be added for the same reason that it won’t run under Big Sur and needs to wait for D|S 5.
Then — plot twist — with help from Apple D|S can run under Big Sur. I ask if Filament might now work and I’m pretty much laughed at and told that Filament “isn’t suddenly going to start working” even though, to the untrained eye, D|S did, even though I was told that Filament needs the same update that D|S needs to run under Big Sur.
As the libraries are already being rewritten for D|S 5, I’ll put in a suggestion to add an output format for animation that supports video and audio but seriously, you would think that would already be on the drawing board for a software that does animation.

If you are into animations I would suggest Blender with EVEE and the Daz to blender bridge. If you have deep pockets iclone 7 and the pipeline converter to bring daz characters into Iclone7. Iclone uses Derectx to do animations. I would only use Daz Studio for stills. You can animate in Daz Studio but I would not reccomend. You do not need more computer you have a really good system, I just don't reccomend doing animations in Daz Studio in Iray or 3Delight, maybe Filament or Opengl. Good luck
probably need to read up on it but sounds like you or maybe the community can help me answer these pivotal questions before vesting into iclone...
can you import all created characters you own into iclone?
can you import their clothes/matts as shown in daz?
can you port created animations too?
can you also export scenes?
Thank you for prompt responses :)

if I use Iraymode in viewport my image is looking good - if I render the image as I always did before I have massive poke through
Looks like smoothing is lost for the render in new window.
may someone confirm this?
Is it displacement? That isn't shown in Drawstyles but is in renders, and can cause poke-through since - as a render-time effect - the geometry can't be adjusted to it.
Displacement is shown at least in iray preview, not sure about filament at the moment.
I wasn't sure, but if it can be shown it depends on Draw settings - and I'm pretty sure it's off by default.

Interior Light Pro "culling" camera and Iray serverHi,
I'm using the iray server 3.3 with Daz Studio 4.15. Recently I purchased the https://www.daz3d.com/interior-light-pro-for-filament-and-iray . It includes a camera that can allow HDRI lighting into interior scene (I think it makes use of the iray section plane, but I'm not sure). The problem is while rendering within Daz Studio is fine, when using iray server at some point it will switch to CPU render (although I set it to disable CPU rendering). The following error message is logged:
[Sat, 09 Oct 2021 12:57:23] 1 WORKER_4 | [test] 1.19 IRAY rend error: CUDA device 0 (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090): an illegal memory access was encountered (while launching CUDA renderer in <internal>:947)

Especially anyone who is running a iray server, can you please test it ?
Thank you very much.

Ok. Thanks. It is nice that they do not render, I am just curious as to why they suddenly appeared.
Sigurd, that looks like an artifact of using the SF Beautiful Skin for Filament, designed for the G8, not the G8.1, I noted something like it when the G8.1 characters came out (I understand the base UV zones are different between 8 and 8.1). You might try reloading and resetting the base UV maps back to the default 8.1 settings, then start putting on newer 8.1 specific Filament skins again. Glad it doesn't render, but it must be annoying. One last thought, I can't tell if a Geo-shell is applied, because those things can get a little weird to use also!

beta has stopped completing load on Win7I found it hidden in DIM
I swore I installed it though,
I have reverted to the default start now to avoid this happening again
it was just a scene with environment, tonemapper and Filament options added
I can still load it afterwards

you can try Casuals Texanim it works in emission too but you need to add each channel to the job exactly right with the exact surface names, frames rendered etc, I often get it wrong and it flickers between the textured and untextured state.
for example one I did for Filament, so no emission but I had DZdefault opacity, for iray uber that would need to be Cutout Opacity
it points to image series in the folder path listed on my PC
Object flame Surface flame Property Opacity Strength Path D:\videos\billboards\flameblast\opacity Prefix 0 Padd 3 Suffix jpg LoopStart 0 LoopEnd 300 First 0 Object flame Surface flame Property Diffuse Color Path D:\videos\billboards\flameblast\diffuse Prefix 0 Padd 3 Suffix jpg LoopStart 0 LoopEnd 300 First 0Thank you, thats what i need :D

it just needs an interface, they already have Filament that could easily pull off real-time with hats, hoods, nonrealistic hairs even on my original crappy intel graphics PC
Many hide behind their OCs they create with DAZ already as renders.
The live2D Cubism ones are increadibly popular I am seeing them used by my favourite YouTube Reddit story readers like Mark Narrations for their livestreams too.
ParasiteX Product is crashing Iray rendersI tried loading up this product in a scene:
https://www.daz3d.com/parasitex
But it kept crashing DAZ every time I tried to preview it in Iray. When I tried to render it just told me there was an error in rendering and then I needed to restart DAZ.
It rendered in Filament and 3Delight without any problems. I then went and tried a variety of other older products, including other monsters from around the same time by the same artists and all of those rendered fine.
I changed the surfaces to Iray surfaces as well, as opposed to the DAZ Default textures they originally load with and that didn't change anything either.
My NVidia drivers are up to date as well.
I'm really confused about what this one particular product could be doing to make this happen. Please help?
Mac is Back!I am using filament on a bootcamp Win10 instance. I think in the current state, filament is overrated. I still prefer to construct all my scenes on macOS. DS is much more stable on macOS than on WinXX.

I'm guessing not, but does 4.15 on mac now have filament, or is that still only a windows feature? (And if the latter, any news on when or even IF filament is ever going to be available for mac?)
No Filament yet, we'll probably still see it in the Beta for DAZ 5 for the first time.

I'm sure some would disagree with me, but I think Studio has excellent animation tools. The combination of AniMate's layer-like blocks, speed adjustment, and copy/pasting of keyframes, the graph editor, and Powerpose seem like they should be enough for many users. I still think Powerpose is the most revolutionary posing tool in this business and have yet to see anything as intuitive in any other software, Blender and Maya included (and please inform me if they do). No matter how much better Blender's animation features are, I'll take Powerpose over trying to figure out which of the thousand posing rig primitives I'm supposed to grab in order to rotate a body part over there.
Like you said, the problem may have to do more with these tools not being explained terribly well. My biggest problem is that while the features are nice, they can be very finicky. Animating in Studio is like walking a tightrope; one mistake can quickly either crash your scene or result in an undoable checkpoint that can cause the loss of your animation. Filament is also...well, lousy to be honest, so we don't really have the real-time animation potential that Unreal and Blender have.
A webinar on this topic might be a good idea.
Wouldn't it be great if DAZ actually released some great, easy to understand and current documentation? Of course, it'll be hard to read when that happens due to all the shadows from the pigs flying overhead Because, let's face it: If DAZ Studio was a child, DAZ's aversion to updating documentation would qualify as criminal neglect and I've always felt that that's one of the major reasons DS continues not to be taken seriously as a program in professional circles. I mean, I've tried turning a number of people on to DS over the years, but given that, even today, we're still looking at a users manual that is barely unchanged since the version for Studio 3.0, and the last time either it or the Quick start guide was touched at all was eight years ago during the days of 4.6, I can't blame them for dropping it and moving on to other programs. As a relative reference as to how out of date everything is, if you go by the manual then the primary figure is still Genesis 2 and Iray doesn't even exist, let alone Dforce or the integration of the current animation tools, and even things that did exist back then, like geoshells, aren't mentioned at all. To find out half the things DS can do, you have to play Sherlock Holmes with the forums and random tutorials... and, unfortunately, a lot of the information that was once stored in the forums was wiped out during the various store rebuilds.
100% agree about it not looking viable in professional circles due to things like IK and needing a huge overhaul in the documentation department. I have a friend who wants to get into animation and was looking at Daz and I told him learn Blender instead as it takes awhile to figure out what you can and can't do with Daz and how to work around those things you can't. I said get the Daz assets and port them over. Don't get used to the tools in Daz like powerpose like I did because, even though it's super intuitive and now I don't want to live without it as animating is lighting fast with it once you know how to use it, there's drawbacks to Daz's animation system. I hope Daz Studio 5 has an overhaul on the animation system to make it on par with the rest as I want Daz to be a go-to for folks.
