Need help applying a RawArt shape to G8 Male
You should have files for loading Genesis 8.1 Female/Male Base - if you use DIM or Daz Central to isntall the Starter essentials package is usually split in two by sex.

This is not a direct consequence of an application update, it should retain settings and for most users does. Are you using a third-party uninstaller tor emove the old version of the application? Are you sure the folders are still in the correct place, with the original name and drive letter?
I can assure you, I'm using nothing but Daz and Daz Central to manage content. No 3rd party installers or otherwise. I have some non-Daz content which I access through the Content Library tab and it's unaffected. All the Daz original content is gone. The files are all still there on the E drive, I just cannot get either Daz or Daz Central to look at them and realise they are downloaded.
I honestly did nothing else than click "update" when Daz Central suggested it, then when I opened Daz... nothing. When this happened before it didn't take me too long to sort, but this time I can see no option but a reinstall on the basis that when I set up the new install it will ask me to set the content directories afresh and should see the existing files. Do you think that won't work?
Is the third party content installed to the same location as the Daz content?
No, as per recommended, it's in a separate directory.
I can't believe I have wasted an entire evening trying to get Daz to recognise content it recognised just a few clicks ago. Judging by the number of people who are reporting the same problem (there's been plenty since the last update) this is not an isolated problem. I've uninstalled everything and calling it a night. My content is still safe on the separate drive so maybe after a fresh reinstall I'll have some success. I also note that I was completely unable to delete on of the Daz directories - I had to run a chkdsk and the repair the drive before it would complete the uninstall. This is one very grabby, and very untidy application.
Which directory? One in the application folder? Are you sure DS had finished closing?

New! Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 14Urgent heads up- note the expiration time on one of the main promos is in 20 minutes. It did a weird morning time, aka 7am Central time. You can pick up some items for 72 percent off without having to buy ten things. I always assume new promos are daz midnight and don't know when this one came up, I don't hit the store everyday when it changes over, like I used to. But I got a popup saying my cart was expiring in 20 minutes, and sure enough checked the promo.
Daz site is throwing server errors all over the place, took eight minutes to post this. The cart kept telling me to verify my address using Paypal, nothing wrong with my address and no way to do that on the cart page. So now promo ends in TWELVE MINUTES. Hurry if you want some items 72 percent off. I like the Ergou hair products. Some on sale.

Assuming you can get there, Daz Studio>Preferences, in the Interface tab.
Found it. Now what?
Post a screenshort of that window's settings

Daz to C4D (R24) and Maxon MovesThe latest via Daz Central - 1.3.0
The morphs don't work at all for me in R24, only the head rotation.
Hence, the reason I installed R23 to see if I could get it to work at all.
In R23, there's no eye rotation option with the imported face capture data and the mouth stays open as mentioned.
Hopefully this will be resolved as it has great potential.
Daz Studio don't open, error in log-fileI use Daz Studio 4.15.0.2 since months without any problems until yesterday. When I try to open it, it shows the opening screen and then it appears only as button in the task bar. The Background is white and clicking on it does nothing.
Update:
I deleted my old Installation of Daz Studio and Daz Central, all Folders with 'Daz' in it, Registry entries.and started from scratch. New download of Daz Central, new download of Daz Studio thru Daz Central and now it opens again with the default design. Though there is still a lot to do to get my customisation back, I'm really happy that I got it back to open. No idea what caused the issue...

Headshop Not Showing in Edit MenuInstallation issues usually caused by attempting to install with either DIM or DAZ Central. Remedy: please read!!!!!! the README that has detailed installation guide.
HeadShop comes with its own installer, there are also videos of how to install: https://youtu.be/5N-8KE4BCbo and also https://youtu.be/QACNeyStmT0

I broke DAZ again, help!RE: My DAZ is broke again.
MY SYSTEM: DS 4.15 Pro, WIN 10 X64 21H1
PROBLEM(s): DIM WORKS FINE, BUT
1. DAZ CAN’T SEE OR USE MY SMART CONTENT (see image), AND
2. DAZ CENTRAL FAILS TO RECOGNIZE EVERYTHING IS INSTALLED.
-
INTRO TO THE ISSUE: (Probably a Content cluster or CMS path issue)
I've had to move content around several times since I started using DAZ a year and a half ago (BECAUSE I RUN OUT OF SPACE). I began with DAZ defaults (C: Drive) on a 1Tb SSD (Disk-0), RAN OUT OF SPACE FAST, and I realized I needed to backup windows (without the huge DAZ content directories on the system drive) as well. So I MOVED DAZ AND DIM to some other internal HDD's (Disk 1 & 2 spanning as Dynamic RAID-0, volume F).
Then my content collection expanded again, and ...
=>I'm maxed out again, I now have 3 gigantic duplicate components: DIM DOWNLOAD ZIP FILE ARCHIVE, MY DAZ 3D LIBRARY, CLOUD CONTENT
(Lots of DAZ content + tutorials + Rendo + Cube Brush + HDRI content and other low quality freebies)
-
FIRST FAILED ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THE SPACE ISSUE: Folder/directory compression
=>Result: Accomplished nothing (no significant gains).
SECOND ATTEMPT: Moving Templates and Tutorials elsewhere
=>Result: This only freed up ~16GB space.
THIRD FAILED ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THE SPACE ISSUE: I initially moved the DIM archive to an external HDD.
=>Result: I found that adding new content would cause the problem that I would also need to download all the previously installed content because I [sometimes] could not figure out what was my new and what was my old (content) so I had to bring the DIM archive back to volume F.
FORTH (CURRENT) ATTEMPT:
I bought more internal HDD storage (volume G) and made the decision to split up the 3 Giant Duplicate DAZ components (above) as follow:
1. HDD VOLUME F (Disk1&2 RAID-0): Daz Studio Installation+MY DAZ 3D LIBRARY+ CLOUD (CONNECT DATA) CONTENT.
2. NEW STORAGE HDD VOLUME G (Disk3): Installed DIM there, +moved my content cluster (database), DIM Downloads (Archive zip files), Manifests, Thumbnails, and my personal data (“My Library,” scene, subscene, presets, renders, project folders).
ABOUT MY CURRENT DAZ STUDIO ISSUE:
=>The Content Library tab sees/has all INSTALLED content.
=>I changed the content cluster and other necessary information in DAZ to the G drive (see the attached image from DAZ CONTENT DIRECTORY MANAGER), but DAZ will not find my SMART content.
=>So I reinstalled DAZ using DIM, (hoping DAZ would migrate to and take up my new DIM settings)... that did not fix DAZ smart content.
=>So I re-imported Metadata results in DAZ, and DAZ acknowledged most of my Smart Content (Icons only) and the number of DIM packages is almost correct, but when you click on a content package icon, there is no smart content files (e.g. duf’s, images, or material files etc).
=>I’ve tried connecting DAZ cms SETTINGS to both the CMS database and the Content Cluster, but neither results in Smart Content availability.
-
ABOUT MY DAZ DATABASES:
=>I’ve identified 3 DIFFERENT DATABASES???
C: ROAMING/… cms directory
F: CLOUD/meta directory
G: DIM/ … CONTENT DATABASE/ContentCluster directory
(see attached images)
-
QUESTIONS:
1. How do I fix the (no smart content issue) and the DAZ central issue?
2. What databases do I connect to what PROGRAM (DAZ, DIM, Central) after moving my DIM downloads, manifests, thumbnails and ContentCluster to the G drive?
3. What is the function of the ROAMING CMS database vs the ContentCluster, and is it mandatory to add the directory links anywhere else (what resource location box gets what link)?
-
Can anyone identify the problem (e.g. is it content cluster, multiple HDD locations, something else needs to be reset?
So in the last 2 installs of DS Pro 4.15 goes in application folder why...?I decided to uninstall everything DAZ and reinstall DAZ Central, which now has an icon again :D So, I tried the reinstall from DC after fixing the paths again. And, again, I am stuck on this screen. [Frustrated screams of angst deleted.]
So in the last 2 installs of DS Pro 4.15 goes in application folder why...?I am also having this problem. I have 2 external hard drives I use with my new PC. I had to reinstall DAZ because CMS wouldn't update. Coming here for help I was pointed to the Application Data folder on my C: drive [originally installed DAZ to C:, which is my SSD].
The Application Data folder somehow had a baby Application Data folder. So it was a Windows 11 problem. I found some really old references to this nested Application Data problem. One solution was to rename then delete the extra one. I tried, then the extra folder had a baby that was a link to Application Data and all the files and folders were in it. Huh?? So, I had to reinstall Win 11. Pain, pain, pain. I have been reinstalling programs that were on C: for days.
Today I wanted to start DAZ and play with some shiny new items. I went into IM [mind you, I used it only yesterday to install ALL my content on D:\DAZ Library] and installed all my new content. I noticed it wanted to reinstall DAZ. Oops. Why?? I have NOT changed my install directory.
So I went and started DAZ and it hung on the starting screen, the same CMS issue.
Ok, so reinstalling DAZ is inevitable, I get it. I go to DAZ Central and my paths are messed up. I put my install path as D:\Program Files and my content directory is D:\DAZ Library. Since I have a ton of content, I keep all the 3rd party stuff out of my DAZ Library so I have that as D:\3D\3rd Party but I will put that in DAZ when I an get it to run.
Everything DAZ, my Carrara 8.1 trial, my Hexagon, my Bryce 7.5, all are installed in D:\Program Files
As I understand it, Program Data and its wayward child Application Data are not directories for installation of any program, just for settings.
So, I am confused as to why DAZ IM AND DAZ Central decided to change the directories I put in to Application Data.
My D: removable drive is just a data drive without an operating system installed, it's just formatted NTFS for Windows, nothing unusual about it.
And, I just tried to reinstall DAZ and got the same stuck on CMS problem.
From reading here, I will go change my program files path back to D:\Program Files and I will add to my post. Wish me luck!
Any advice much appreciated!
A Very Frustrated 63-Year Old Dannis
