Hisashi is NOT a female

If this is still annoying some users, and you don't want to wait for an official correction, it will only take you a few minutes to make the correction yourslf. Note that vendor metadata (and I mean the metadata that comes with the product, whoever makes it) is considered read-only in the Content DB Editor. The only way to change it permanently is to modify the metadata file directly. Look in the [Library]/Runtime/Support folder for the .dsx file that corresponds to the product in question. For example, the SKU for Hisashi is 60235, so search for a 60235, or scroll down to DAZ_3D_60235_Hisashi_HD_for_Genesis_8_Male.dsx. Open it in your favourite text editor and search for the string /Female and change it to /Male. (There was only one in Hisashi, others might have more). Save and re-import the metadata. In DIM it's from a right-click on the product, in Studio it's in Content DB Maintenance. I do not know how for other install methods (Connect and Central). Refresh your Library and you're good to go. (Keep a copy of the .dsx somewhere in case you need to re-install, or replace the one in the package you use to install, if you keep the zips.)
This won't work for Connect as it does a file integrity check when you login, so it will redownload and overwrite your newly fixed file with the old crap wrong file. I had the painful experience with dozens of DSX files I thought I was smart enough to edit myself ;-(
Not in my experience - I have decomperssed and edited files without triggering an update marker, and even if it did get marked as an update DS would not download until told to. Edit: sorry, you were talking about metadata - the mention of file integrity check confused me.

Funny the plane has a logo for Champion sparkplugs.
I used to work there in their Central, SC plant, making igniters (airplane sparkplugs).
Genesis 8 Characters all look like default G8 charactersDo you mean Daz Central? If you select the figure and look in the Parameters pane can you find the sliders for the character you are using?
The We Will Miss You, Chohole Complaint Thread....thank you for the wll wishes. Yeah, another orbit around our central stellar primary complete.
Sad and sorry to hear about your mum passing on.

I'm not a new user but I feel like one. I'm using Daz for the first time since 2019, and my files location has changed since then. I can't find how to put in the new path where all my files are. My computer has an F drive, and although the program itself is on C drive, all the product files are on F. The actual path is F: DAZ3D>Studio>My Library. Where can I put this information in and how does the apparently newDaz Central affect the installation path?
If you're used to DIM, I will recommend to stick to that. Daz Central is supposed to be a simplified version of DIM targetted new users.
And I have no clue how to change anything in Daz Cabtral.
If your content is on F, you need to point both the installer (DIM or Daz Central) and Daz Studio to that.

Massively Lowered G8F Load TimeOk, you have 3 content libraries in the traditional locations, the last one (scenes) is 'nested' as it is actually a subfolder of the first one. Nesting can cause problems.
The traditional locations are used to install content with DAZ Central, DAZ Install Manager (DIM) and manual installation.
Whatever, if any content you have installed within DS with DAZ Connect, the files will be found in C:\Users\Owner\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My DAZ Connect Library\Data\Cloud\[identification number of the product (=SKU)]\
The SKU for Alice And Her Outfit For Genesis 8 Female is 79885 (it may be preceded with "1_", making the folder name 1_79885, but I'm not sure as I have never allowed DAZ Connect to do anything)
Any way to find items I own and aren't installed? The disapearance of DAZ-deals is a massive pain.
Among other things, I used it to look for specific items I owned but weren't installed (most of my assets aren't). For instance, I'm now looking for a sword that comes with a scabbard. I know that I own one such asset, but I've no clue what is name is, how old it is, etc... So, with DAZ-deals I would select "weapons" and "only show owned" in the shop and could go through the small list of weapons I own and find the one with a scabbard relatively easily. Same, with, say, looking for a water effect, or hair for G3F or whatever.
But without DAZ-Deals, I've no idea how to find anything. In DAZ install or DAZ central, I'd have to go through the whole list of uninstalled assets I own (that's about 3000) , it would take hours each time I look for something, and even then I couldn't be really sure what the assets are from their name (plus, DAZ install has a link to the product but no image, and DAZ Central a small image, but no link, so I'd have to copy/paste the name of each product that might interest me in the shop to see what it is exactly). It's totally impractical.
Does anybody have a suggestion about how I could proceed to find specific products in my owned assets? Thanks in advance.
Genesis 8 Female XprssnMagici had install through DIM since it was not even in daaz central - ill check ok thanks for everyones help!
DIM only installs, without dead thumbnails & white box.Install Manager is still Install Manager, DAZ Central is the 'dumbed down' version of it, but Install Manager is still valid (maybe best) way to install content.
Massively Lowered G8F Load TimeIf you are installing your content with DAZ Central, DAZ Install Manager (DIM) or manually, there is no reason to Log in/Sign in to DS - Yes, DS does ask if you want to log in or use the program in Offline mode, but just choose the offline mode.
In DS preferences, set your startup options as in the attached image.

I am pretty new to all this Daz stuff, but I currently install everything through DAZ Central (with studio closed). I have auto login for studio as I assumed it needed to confirm I own the content before I could use it. I've been nervous about signing in lately as I don't want to upgrade to 4.16 just yet. I'm not using the software daily or even weekly unfortunately, but this info could simplify things for me.
Sorry to hijack the thread, just trying to get a better understanding of the software.

You have probably installed Alice also inside DS in 'Smart' Content (=DAZ Connect), which installs everything the second time into a different location, doubling the space usage and causing all sorts of other problems.
Not knowing the path to your DAZ Connect installed content, the path has a 'Cloud' in it

Thanks for trying help but now I am even more confused. So, you are saying that I have doubles of everything on my computer? How do I delete the 50% that I don't want? I only logged into Daz once because the first time, I think it made me. Otherwise I use IM to install it all. So, that's the folder I deleted. Where can I find all the "doubled" content? You said you do not know the path, but it'd be whatever it automatically does.

Does it give any kind of error message? Have you checked the log?
The issue obviously went away since, but the log? Which log? There's a log on DAZ central or install manager?

The only things which store the absiolute location, from drive lette on, are the manifests created by Daz Central or Install Manager - assuming you still have those, if this is moved from your old machine.
I'm not sure what you mean by that, I still use Daz Central and sometimes Install Manager when I buy things from a 3rd barty vendor who uses that method for installing files. But I don't know what those "manifests" are or if I have them.
I'm beginning to believe that my only way out would be to whipe the last installation clean and start from scratch. But than again, would Daz Central put everything where I want them or go by default to my C drive? Or even install each thing back to where they were last installed?
Organizing Daz foldersDaz Studio doesn't care where the content directories are, or what they are called, as long as the files and folders within the content directory are correct. The only things which store the absiolute location, from drive lette on, are the manifests created by Daz Central or Install Manager - assuming you still have those, if this is moved from your old machine. If you still have the zips DIM has an option to reinstall selected items using the current path in the right-click menu in the Installed tab.

It's crazy that Daz haven't added this feature, only show wishlist, only show owned, ect, on their own. I can't shop without it, I'll skip any sale that isn't like pc+ for a day/1.99/2.99 dollars each item. Then it can be worth scrolling endlessly. Less discount than that: NOPE! So Daz: if you want me to spend money here, add the Daz deals features! And to make this change days before Xmas, that's just stupid. Thanks Daz for saving me money!
.Same thing here. I'm not going to shop without a "show wishlist" included. I already have a long wishlist and it takes time to go through some sales *with* the wishlist, but without it, no way. Even a small sale has dozen of pages of items, a big one might have hundreds. I'm not going through 100 pages of items looking for those I wishlisted. I don't have hours every day to shop on DAZ (nor would I want to spend hours even if I could).
And "show owned" is extrememly convenient when I'm looking for something I already have bought and either isn't installed (the wide majority of my assets aren't installed) or is installed but I'm unable to find it in my library and need the read me to find the files. Given that DAZ central, for instance, doesn't offer any option to search by item category. If, say, I want to see what G2 hair I own and could use and install, I'd need to go through *everything* in Daz central to find them, and would probably miss some. I'm looking for a quiver part of a clothing asset I own, but I've been unable to find it after spending one hour in DAZ central looking for it while I could have found it in minutes wth "items I own".
It's possible that DAZ has no interest in letting us see the price history, but tools like "show wishlist" shoudn't even require an addon.
Then again, of course, DAZ is free to change its shoping interface, but given how popular DAZ deals is, how widely it is used and how convenient it is, it's a problem for I would guess the majority of customers. As far as I'm concerned, DAZ shop could as well be broken and unusable at the moment. I opened a sales page and immediately closed it when I saw that DAZ deals wasn't working and I'd would have to wade through pages upon pages of stuff I'm not interested in to look for things I'm interested in. And even *if* I was doing that, I still wouldn't buy anything without checking the price history as money is very tight for me at the moment.
For the love of cats!!Our Albert (my avatar cat) never pulled his old claw sheaths off, he just chewed through them to expose the sharp central claw point. Also, because he treated washing as being an optional activity to be carried out by other cats, he ended up with bacteria laden fuzziness around each claw point. The net result was that every leg puncture wound from his kneading on our laps festered. We have had far fewer stomach upsets since he died...Assets error: Could not open file - File does not existHui there
I am currently preparingthe upcoming DAZ Studio intro and training session for beginners :
I 'purchased' all the free asssets for the workshop (Daisy 8), insttled Daz Studio and Daz Central - but for some reason I am unable to access 'wardrobe' and 'hair' assets that shoul dhave been installed.
What I am getting is error : file not installed. What's wrong?
Thanks,
Stef
