Daz Central is essentially a skin for DIM, the installation helper (which handles things needing elevated privileges) is the same for both.

So like, question:
Am I the only one who have problems installing 4.20? Like, I download it but when I go to install it, it just says this
2022-02-18 20:17:56.097 Installing: 13176-2 : DAZ Studio 4.20 (Win 64-bit)
2022-02-18 20:18:56.884 WARNING: Killed Process
2022-02-18 20:18:56.884 WARNING: QProcess: Destroyed while process is still running.
2022-02-18 20:18:56.889 Install Failed: DAZ Studio 4.20 (Win 64-bit)Why it kills the process like this? With no further explanation? Also it's been the whole day that when I boot daz, I always get the postgreSQL connection error and it doesn't seem to connect for some reason. Do you have any internal problems, by any chance?
I currently use IM and no, I don't plan in downloading daz central. Appreciated!
Any anti-virus or anti-malware apps which could interfere with the installation?

Daz immediately quits on launch. Running Mac OS MontereyThat is what i am trying to do. I tried uninstalling everyting, but the 4.12. Version of Daz would not uninstall. I downloaded a fresh Daz Central and tried installing 4.15 through Daz Central, but it won't fully install Daz Studio. When I clicke on the green "Install" button the installation seems to be stuck at 36%

I am using DazStudio 4.12. I recently upgraded my Mac to Monterey. Today was the first time I tried using Daz again and everytime I try to open it, it immedeatly quits on me. I tried uninstalling and then reinstallin in Daz Central, but that didn' seem to work either. Then I tried to manually uninstalling from the DAZ3DIM1 Folder's Uninstallers - didn't work either.
How do I get Daz to work again?
You need to update to the latest version of Studio for it to work on macOS Monerey, Also use DIM (Daz Install Manager) & not Daz Central

I'm so tired.
I was working in Daz Studio when the computer randomly restarted. The computer came back on, and I couldn't find the Daz Studio Iray shaders (PBR Skin, and all of that). So I've had to uninstall then re-install Studio.
I hope the SSD isn't on the way out (one year old). If it is, I'm giving up, and I'm not replacing it.
I can't deal with anymore of this cr@p!
Might have been a corrupt database if DS was closed mid-write. If you install using DIM/Daz Central/Manually and the files were missing only from the Smart Content pane, Presets tabs, and Categories or Products in the Content Library you might be able to get them back by reimporting metadata or - if everything was gone - by doing a database reset and then reimporting. I do recommend backing up the database, and doing an export of user data, as protection.
It was just things that were related to the program itself, that went missing from my Content Library (I don't use Smart Content). I don't know what else went missing, but what I couldn't find were Daz's own Iray Shaders - PBR Skin, Iray: Gold, Rubber, Plastic, Architectural, Stucco, etc. However, the program still managed to open, and my customised layout loaded, too.
All of my Daz Content is on an External HDD, so I haven't lost any content there... Although thinking about it, I better check it out again. :/

Rant: I'm never sure if i say, or do the right thing. Maybe I should've just said a straight "no", instead of, "I'll consider it". I said no last time, why bring it up again?
I've done a lot of dumb things in my 34 years on Earth, but that was the worst. I've only ever got two things right, and both of them were cats.
Yay! Another crappy horror movie, and my Father has gone to sleep... I should've recharged my Switch earlier.
Here comes Storm Eunice. 80-90 mph gusts for where I live. They say it's the worst storm for 30-something years. Under normal circumstances, I'd say, "Bring it on"... But with the way things have lately... I better not.
Aww, my money tree is bare... And I really wanted the Soft Skin Transitions, too (they look fantastic!).
DS Zip FilesUsing advice that I read in a forum last year, I stopped logging into Daz Studio upon boot up so that the insidious updates from Daz Connect would not wreak havoc with my database or content library. I never liked Daz Central when it was launched and have never used it to install content.
I trust the Daz Install Manager (DIM), though, as it installs well to the locations that I have entered into the Advanced Settings in DIM. On very rare occasion does something not install correctly via DIM. A nice benefit of using DIM, though, is that it creates a list of installed files with a live hyperlink to each file's install location. I use that at times to find or verify a file’s installation and/or location.
Most of my manual installs are usually for products purchased at Renderosity although I recently discovered that I can use the Install from Zip Archive feature in Poser to install to any directory that I choose. Some care needs to be take to ensure that unnecessary folders or files have been removed from the zipped folder first otherwise they will be installed. For example, I installed a zipped folder for a Renderosity product recently where all of the desired content files were in folders that were inside of a Content folder; the Poser installation process created a new folder called Content and placed the underlying folders in it; not what I wanted.
Once I manually install a product in Daz Studio, I create a Product for it using the Content Library. That creates an item in Smart Content that has no product thumbnail and very limited metadata. I use a product image that came with the product or which I downloaded from the product’s parent site (or which I create from a quick render in Daz Studio) to manually create and place a thumbnail in the Runtime/Support folder.
What is Hexagon?Hi guys. I just set up daz and in the left pane of the Daz central I see a Hexagon app under Daz studio. What exactly is it and what are the differences with the latter?
FirstBastion's Upcoming Lineup 2023 [commercial]Heh, very good points on your part too! A central grab is definitely steadier, and there is definitely a difference between a temporary ladder and an affixed one. I figure the navy didn't care much for safety protocols regarding the amount of people on a ladder, as they were either much taller ladders (with affixed ladders, stability isn't an issue anyway), or were primarily used in emergency. So after comparing notes, a difference in protocols sounds logical. :-D

LibraryNo problems there.
Must be the path that's specified in the installer (DIM or DAZ Central)
DS Zip FilesCan these be used to install content directly, instead of using DAZ Central, or the built in DS Studio installer?

I once found myself in the unenviable position of driving someone 120 miles to the Cleveland, Ohio airport in bad weather. It was mid-winter but clear sky when we started in late afternoon. I started driving west on Interstate 86 toward Erie, Pennsylvania to hit Interstate 90 toward Cleveland but immediately upon crossing the NY/PA border it started to snow, and the farther west I got, the snowier it got. By time I reached Cleveland and switched to Interstate71 toward the airport it was a full-on blizzard with snow faliing at an alarming rate. I finally dropped off my passenger and headed home, but by now it was dark. On the way back as I left the airport and headed on the Interstate back up toward central Cleveland and Interstate 90 again the 5 & 6 lane expressway roads around the big interchanges were almost empty but there was one car a few hundred yards(meters) ahead of me going down a slight hill. I guess he must have tapped his brakes or something because all of a sudden he spontaneously started spinning around, he spun around twice before eventually getting control again just as I passed him. I was sweating blood thinking I would hit him or I'd start to spin too, but I made it through, and he never hit anything either but as you say, he probably had dirty pants. I also made it home that night without serious incident but it was one of the most harrowing snow trips I ever had. It took me 4 hours to get home on a run that usually only takes a little over two hours. I spent a lot of time behind a snow plow. I was one tired puppy when I got home.

Another harrowing snow trip was the day, in the early '80s, I was driving the beltway west of Washington,DC when that Air-Florida commercial jetliner hit cars on the 14th Street Bridge carrying Interstate 395 traffic in & out of downtown Washington and crashed into the Potomac River, breaking through the ice, in front of the Jefferson Memorial during a momumental blizzard, killing all but a couple of people on board.
Driving in that storm, on the Beltway, took me over an hour to go 10 miles. And I was one of the lucky ones who didn't get stuck, crash or slide off the ramp embankments. I passed several who did. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Florida_Flight_90I try to avoid Cleveland like the plague during the winter. They ARE the snow belt and it gets really bad. We are about 1 miles outside of the snowbelt so sometimes we get dumped on and sometimes we don't. This past big storm that came through we ended up with 18" of snow on the ground over 2 days and then 4 days later another 8" on top of it separated by a 1/4" slab of ice because of sleet and freezing rain before the snow hit again. We still have around 7 inches of that snow on the ground and just had another inch put on yesterday.
No Daz Studio for Mac with M1 Pro / Max chip ???Try using Install Manager rather than Daz Central https://www.daz3d.com/get_install_manager/
No Daz Studio for Mac with M1 Pro / Max chip ???Hi there!
IT SEEMS THAT I WAS WRONG ABOUT THE UNAVAILABILITY FOR MAC with M1 chip. I am currently investigating on how to install Daz Central on my Mac. It did not work so far ....
I am wondering if there will be a fully functional version of Daz Studio and Daz Central for the new 2021 Macs with M1 chip soon.
I find it quite frustrating to see that currently there is no support. I just switched from Windows to Mac and I have spent thousands of $$ in the Daz Store during the last couple of years, just to see now that I cannot install the software on my new computer, which is a 2021 model.
I am not here to rant but to express my frustration. Of course I cannot expect just any software to run on a Mac but DAZ is a tool for designers and artists and I still believe that the majority of designers and artists who create digital content are working with Mac. Maybe I am wrong?
I would really appreciate to know if there is an update for the DAZ software for Mac going to be released soon.
I was so excited to use my MacBook Pro and have a amazing performance to create some really awesome art with Daz.
Right now I feel like I wanna cry ... lol

Is there a comprehensive "Guide to Daz"?It occurred to me today that I've been working with Daz pretty regularly over the past 13-14 months, and I still have no idea what half of the available buttons and sliders do. Render settings, Tonemapper settings, shaders and top coats... the list goes on and on. And while it's easy enough to do an Internet search to find out more about one particular thing, it would be awfully handy if there were a central source that discussed what all of these tweaks and adjustments actually do
(A great example is SickleYield's guide to Iray shaders: https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/journal/Iray-Surfaces-And-What-They-Mean-519346747)
Does such a guide exist? I know that Daz diocumentation can be poor at times, but I refuse to give up...
