andrey-pestryakov's sets can be like that but has visibility off for parented details like shrubs and flowers for navigating  and you set them on for render.

If these sets have smaller detail items the same could be done.

Okay, the crashed ship initially was a good idea, but I like the ubiquitous cave better, Plus it makes what she is jumping off of more sensible.  Savage Land renders are turning out to be a lot of fun.  This one is almost ready for prime time.

If Rex tilts his head up, she's gonna be a snack! LOL

    What rocks/mountains are you using?

Rock in Forest by Andre Pestryakov.  It really is a very  nice set.

Yeah, this looks really good...I have had it wishlisted for a while. Ran out of funds during the PA sale so I missed it then. Hopefully, I can score a good deal on it during the Cyber Sale (if they run that again this year).

I really like how dynamic you made the female leaping to the aid of the imperiled soldiers. She's definitely all in!

  • Brutal Weapons and Poses [Commercial]

I have a couple of renders to post as well. At work right now but will dig them out as soon as I can.  I LOVE these weapons super useful poses come with them as well.  And just remember these are FANTASY weapons they aren't required to be used only by super strong heroes.  That's what fantasy is all about.  Plus, these are scaleable.

I have an archmage who floats around on a little stone platform.  It rather neatly solves the problem of fitting her ballgown-shaped frocks to uneven terrain, especially Andrey Pestryakov's awesome scenic sets. most of which are as flat as the Himalayas.

    Cheers,

    Alex..

  • Carrara Challenge #28: “Marriage” WIP Thread

Final render with post-workMy first entry is based on the children's song "You're a Pink Toothbrush."  (Link in my post above in case you want the song to be stuck in your head all day).

The toothbrushes, countertop and glass were modeled in Carrara.  The candle and candlestick were also modeled in Carrara, but not specifically for this Challenge - I made them for Valentine's Day last year and am just recycling.  I rendered a couple different views of the toothbrushes, edited them a bit in Photoshop then used those edited images as textures on a card made in Carrara.  I added a couple flowers from Andrey Pestryakov's Nature - Forest Flowers pack and made the final render.

I am checking with the creator of the font I used whether this falls under the license or not, so consider the text part of the card as temporary (although I really love how it looks) as I may have to edit or withdraw this one as it is. smiley

"You're a Pink Toothbrush" final version:

Attached: Toothbrush model, basic scene setup for the individual renders, scene setup for the final render, final render straight from Carrara, final with post-work.

MDO, I really love the workflow details you've provided in your post. The scene setup, workflow, final result... brilliantly laid out! I love this stuff! This "W.I.P." threads are an excellent idea. But they become so much better when the W.I.P. evolves into a bit of a tutoorial like this... very special... very cool!

second whatever Dart said :) Will not listen to the song as have a full brain already ;)

Ok, I was wrong, I found time to work on my image some last night while watching TV and a little more tonight while watching the debates and somehow managed to get my first entry more or less done.

  • What's Been Your Favourite Purchase In The P.A. Sale So Far?

Stefan "Stonemason" Morrell's two new jungle / temple scenes plus Tango Alpha's Hemlock Folly and, brief pause for a dramatic drum roll, no less than 14 of Andrey Pestryakov's country scenes.

I haven't decided which is my favourite yet but , on the downside, my credit card has gone back to hiding at the end of the garden, simpering in terror.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

Don't forget that you can delete the tower in Hemlock's Folly and have a really sweet secluded, wooded park! Check out their other offerings, they are all high quality with lots of props that can be used elsewhere. Same with Jackson's Field and Medieval Hall and Garden.

  • Regarding Iray 10x support? Cuda 8 RC now avaliable

You can buy two used 970's for less than a single 1070 right now on ebay. My suggestion is to buy a 970 for right now. You are losing timeon cpu rendering, and time is money. Nobody knows when Daz will actually support Pascal, and Daz is not offering us a time frame to help people like you. Until then, buy a used 970 and then just sell it when when Daz supports Pascal. I really doubt this will cost you much money in the long run. The 970 already has bottomed out since the launch of the 1070, and it likely will not go down much further in the next year. You should be able to get most of that investment back. I am so certain of this I am considering doing this myself.

...4 GB is pretty insufficient for the complex scenes I create, even 8 GB os "borderline" . Having extra CUDA threads from the second 970 is moot if the scene drops out of GPU memory to CPU.   There is also power consumption and waste heat to consider as the 1070, with double the memory and more CUDA cores as well as faster memory and boost clock speed consumes only five more watts than the 970 (145 W peak for the 970 vs.150 W peak for the 1070)
so the 1070 is much more efficient.

I'm willing to be patient, just means more time to sock money away as well as allow any bugs to be worked out of the system.

I have a similar problem.  My 970 crawled away into a corner and quietly expired when confronted with Andreay Pestryakov's "Stairs and the Rocks" set, with just a single V7 HD.  I managed to queeze one scene in by removing all the trees and bushes that didn't appear in my current render but I'd much rather use a 1080, when they sort out the Iray drivers.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

  • What PAs are you must looking forward to in the upcoming PA sales?

Once he pops up, I intend to go through Andrey Pestryakov's store like the proverbial plague of locusts.  I also have designs on the mark two version of Tango Alpha's Hemlock Folly.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

  • Knittingmommy's Laboratory

My render finally finished and is uploaded to my gallery.  I like how she turned out.  I wanted to try out the update for DestinysGarden's DG Toon Hair Shaders which now has Iray presets.  Since I decided to hold off getting Star for Genesis 3, I'm going to have to revisit some of the Genesis 2 toon stuff I have.  I got a lot of it when 3Delight was still the main rendering engine and I wasn't very good at using a lot of 3Delight stuff.  My skills with 3Delight are getting better now and I know more about converting 3Delight shaders for Iray.  It is always good when you have an excuse to use older content.  She probably won't rock that gallery as Toons never really do well there, but I like how she turned out.  I love mixing toons with real stuff and she looks great with Blooming Alley by Andrey Pestryakov.  I love his stuff.  As for the girl, that's my fav girl LY Trini.  I think she's adorable and I've used her before.  She's probably one of my favorite @Lyoness figures of which I have way too many considering I don't do too many girl renders.  I tend not to link many straight renders here that I'm not using for a tutorial or something, but since @TabascoJack commented on her based on the screenshot, I thought I'd show her off.

    Edit: fixed broken link

  • Looking for Andrey Pestryakov's background images

    Hello,

I am a huge fan of Andrey Pestryakov's magnificent scenes, and just bought his ancient ruins - which I highly recommend, by the way.

Does anyone know where I could find the backgrounds he uses ? Mainly for his promo images of Ancient Ruins, and the mountains of the Chinese Gazebo.

    Thanks in advance !

  • Who is on your 'Buy Without Looking At' List?

.Nothing from DAZ3D goes into my cart without looking anymore. That connect thing has to be watched for and whether there are 3Delight materials or iRay only. Not that I refuse to purchase anything iRay-only because I have several items...but they have to be something I really really really like or something not too complex that I can convert.

Overall I have the most DAZ products by far (discounting DAZ Originals or Platinum Club) from 3 vendors: Predatron, 3DUniverse, and The Ant Farm.

I also have the complete stores of a few including Luthbellina, Dogz, and Sloshwerks and most of the likes of Flipmode, Stonemason, First Bastion, Kibaretto, RawArt and 3DJoji.

These are all vendors who have been around a while. And I'm finding some newer ones I like very much such as Indigo Jansen and IH Kang.

As you can see I'm more into props and scenes (also toons, animals, and nature) and not too much into characters except for the DAZ ones though I have tons of clothes and hair. I hunt for special skins and older or distinctive characters. I get many morph sets too so I can roll my own on the rare occasions I do a portrait or two.

There are always those who are special but you've forgotten to list...so I hesitated to write this. But I'm old so I give myself that as an excuse...and I'm sticking to it.

Edit speaking of having the vast majority of their catalogs and forgetting names: Andrey Pestryakov, Alessandro_AM, Denki Gaka

Edit again. Because another thread here had me going to a vendor's page to check out something I must add Collective3D to the above list. Only 2 prods I DON't have.

    This is getting embarrassing....

Edit again....so I'd better add some smilies wink laugh

  • A stonemason plant package

I put in this request to another vendor, A. Pestryakov, for this without positive response, so I'm suggesting for you a Mediterranean group of trees, poplar, cypress and especially(!) olive. What we have for Poser or Daz is not of the highest quality.

I do not now if Predatron has some of such trees, his tree sets are great have most of them.
