  • Half Spider Creature with GeoGrafting - Like Black Widow for V4

I was literally just thinking of that, today...

The same principles behind Octogenesis could be used by someone for applying to a more classically insectoid style of legs (crab legs might be a better inspiration). Especially with an optional robotic appearance to them.

    http://www.daz3d.com/octogenesis

Would be especially good if an abdomen was completely optional, so that you could replace it with a tail, if needed. And, of course, if someone wanted to create a geo-grafted scorpion tail (and even geog-rafted pincers for replacing hands), I certainly wouldn't object. :)

A similar thing with crustacean/arachnid legs mounted on a figure's back, Doctor Octopus-style, would also be desirable, too. Options for 'stiff' exoskeletal limbs or tendrils, would be a bonus (as would texture options for organic armour or a cybernetic appearance).

Shades of Atlantis Anunnaki for M4 by Luthbel has a type of Egyptian/Shades of Atlantis stinger.

Also check out Grotto's Insectoid at Rendo.
When combined with the M4 Creature Creator you can get some interesting Critters.

PS Found where it was - there is also the superb AnuNaki for V4 by The AntFarm.
A bit of gene-splicing/cross-kitting could get a result.

Bunyip02, thanks for the suggestion. I think I could morph a scorpion-like creature out of Anu Naki indeed!

...like Creatura the Harpy or Creatura the Black Widow, but with a stinger! Has anyone seen such a character for any figure? Doesn't have to be for V4. Thanks in advance.

Denny L #1 (Screeching Halt) An interesting use of a truly bizarre group of items, very imaginatively and artistically presented! And are those scorpions..., squaring off against each other? Hmm, another story to be told there. Very good job!

Yes, those are indeed scorpions. Found those when I was looking at some of the older items in the Daz Store. You wouldn't realize it when looking at the main promo image, but those weapons are included with the scorpion.

@Denny L "Screeching Halt" - oh that's cute! And weird - I like the little fella popping out of the screen there (Funny how often Emotiguy is getting pulled this month)

Thanks. A lot of weird goes on in my mind. :cheese:

(For mine, Emotiguy was just an extra and not part of the actual pull. Although I did notice Summertime Grill in a number of pulls)

Thanks everyone for the nice comments on my abstract renders

Dave-cool render with the JD and scorpion. Love the latest Dufus render.

Fran – the underwater scene is looking nice,

David- thanks for the link for the caustic material.

Bruce – love the Castle Rock especially the background sky.

Electro-elvis-the deserted scene is very nicely done, adding the house was a good idea,

Lord Ganthor - nice scene, the foreground looks nice.

Guss-both scenes came out very nice.

Edit: see it took me so long to compose my message two others nipped in there first. Jamie, thank you and if you are using the high resolution terrain then do try out curvature filtering. It's a hand full to work with but it is interesting to see what happens once you get going. I can do a video if you or anyone else is interested.

I’m interested and I’m sure others are too. I re-watched your curvature filter videos a few times, but still don’t really understand how to use this filter. http://vimeo.com/19148208 ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBINimBOOZA ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3-FDvBWpec
I think it will be nice if you made a video as you suggested if you have the time.

Throwing in some of my own terrain renders done over the weekend

Both are based on David’s tutorial “How to create a high resolution Terrain, http://www.bryce-tutorials.info/bryce-tutorials/high-resolution-terrains.html

The 2nd one is a mix-match of David’s tutorial as well as the “trick” Electro-elvis shared on page 21

Those are called a Crook and Flail, respectively. Unfortunately, I believe the ones shown are the ones that used to be in the free PC members download section, which is no longer available. I know that there's a set included with the Chip Pharaoh set at RDNA, but that's pretty pricey.

@fictionalromance - nice scene. Changing the sky and the brightness of the sun improved it much.

@GussNemo - that terrain looks really nice.

@mermaid010 - beautiful abstract, the first one. The second reminds me of a bee because of the form.

@Dave - whiskey and scorpion look great.

@franontheedge - nice underwater scene. A bit of caustics could help. though. There are a couple that came with Bryce 7.1 Pro: Clays Caustics. I have an older version of Caustic Generator, the new version isn't free anymore but at € 35 not extremely expensive.

@fictionairomance: Nice looking final results. Has a painting quality to it.

@David: Your latest are so life like, or I guess I should say photo like. Lovely results. Thank you, and yes, I'm trying a high res. terrain, something I've never done, or maybe I have and just forgot. I do remember Bryce becoming rather slow once upon a time, so maybe I've done one. Anyhow, after watching your work around to the sluggishness I decided to try it. And yes, I plan on using the curvature filter, but I've got to watch your video again, and maybe again, and maybe again, before I give it a try.

@mermaid: Like your abstract results. Hard to tell which I like best.

@Dave: After tasting JD I understand why the scorpion is setting next to that bottle. Nice results. After doing a few assorted beverage bottles for my last scene, I'd like to pick your brain sometime in getting the liquid to look like liquid.

  • More Cybernetic Creatures

    Xenomorphine said:
Some of the most amazing must-haves I've found have been cybernetic versions of animals:

    http://www.daz3d.com/mosquito-2
    http://www.daz3d.com/robowasp
    http://www.daz3d.com/robospider
    http://www.daz3d.com/arachnoid-and-infiltrator-bundle
    http://www.daz3d.com/war-eagle

Is anyone planning to create some more? There's a whole wealth of things out there which would be fantastic to see in robotic form: Shark, praying mantis, scorpion, crocodile, wolf, squid, stag beetles, octopi, panther, dragon, lobster... And with the Genesis Bot, if something's created for the Genesis figure, that should simply be able to auto-convert it into a cybernetic version.

Always good to see optional mounted weapons for them, too, so that they can give the appearance of espionage vehicles, transports or patrol units.

Alternatively, this was an interesting idea:

    http://www.daz3d.com/roborex-for-the-t-rex

Is anyone planning to do something similar for the existing creatures for Daz? Creating cybernetic skins to give the illusion of them being robotic?

Or if anyone's searching for inspiration, the old UK 1980s Marvel 'Zoids' comic (have been told there was a Japanese interpretation, but it seems completely different) has a wealth of robotic animal-related designs:
