  • Install issues: DIM and Daz Central install but a few show gray in Daz Studio

I used Daz Central to set a path for my HHD. Then delete the recommended paths in DIM then install all products. They will install to the new Path. Even your manifest files will be in the path that you want. Then you can share all that across the network. Just have to install Daz on the other computer point to the path.

The only reason to log in to DS, is for installing products inside DS into those weird directories, in which case those installations will override products that are installed with DIM/DAZ Central/manually, even when the installations within DS fail.

Installing products first with DIM/DAZ Central/Manually and then logging in to DS and letting DS (actually DAZ Connect) install the products the second time, also uses twice the storage space as the files are stored in two different locations.

I learned that second part my last install. I only used it with the Das Connect when the icons are gray.

Unfortunately, if I don't log on to Das Studio then the files that are gray would be missing.

I'm not sure what's causing the disconnect but it's really funky.

  • Install issues: DIM and Daz Central install but a few show gray in Daz Studio

I recently had to move to a new HD due to a crashed drive which meant I had to reinstall Daz and all my packages.

99% of my packages downloaded and installed just fine from DIM.

However, some still show gray in Daz Studio.

Example: Ye Olde Library and Ye Olde Library Add-Ons

Some show gray but actually work (Genisys 8 Male Expressions) that is to say the associated dials are available.

I tried uninstalling with DIM and reinstalling. I tried uninstalling with Daz Central and reinstalling. The only thing that works is to install from inside Daz Studio.

Unfortunately Daz Studio installs in a really weird directory that's completely different than DIM and Daz Central (who both install to the same place).

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being very angry...I put this as a 2 for mildly annoyed but not a significant inconvenience.

Is there something I'm doing wrong or is it just something that happens?

Thanks, got it now. Told you I was a little slow sometimes, chock it up to being in my 70's. You'd think that when an update is available in DAZ Central, and you click update, you'd get everything that you need, not have to go hunting for things you didn't even know that were required. Come on DAZ, get with it! And while you are at it, fix the damn download so that it stops quiting every 7 min. and needs to be restarted. As it is you can't set it to run overnight.

  • DIM Error - Error connecting to CMS. Cannot be started by client.

Hello. Long story, here is a choppy gist of where I'm at: I was having an issue getting a plugin to work (Measure Metrics) and spent hours trying to sort that out getting frustrated with the cluster that is the Daz file organization structure, but ultimately deicded to just clear everything Daz related off my computer and try a new install. I have saved all my assets to an external hard drive to reintegrate after the new install. After (I believe) clearing all Daz related things off my computer, I reinstalled Daz Central on my Mac and attempted to get Daz Studio back from there, but the install keeps getting stuck and restarting and freezing so I decided to try DIM instead. I downloaded DIM on my Mac. I am able to successfully download DAZ Studio 4.20 (Mac 64-Bit) but then when I go to install it says "Install Failed!". Can anyone help me figure out what is going on and why I cannot get it installed? Below is the Helper Log File:

Ok thank you. I'll look into this some more.

I gather you mean that is correct for Daz Central?

Well, that should be where Install manager writes, and Daz Central should use the same (and its settings should say the paths are managed by Daz Install Manager).

  • Can't Install on Mac?

Daz Central can be iffy on M1/Big Sur - people report that Install Manager is more reliable (and configurable, but it will pick up the existign settings) https://www.daz3d.com/get_install_manager/

The helper is what handles application installs (and other installs that require elevated privileges).

You should, at least with Install Manager, be able to uncheck the option to install the compleet bundle of applications and content, and then just install what you want.

And if you are using DIM, DAZ Central or manual installation, your content has not disappeared anywhere, only DAZ Connect inside DS is screwed up, which can be fixed by uninstalling the content in "Smart Content" and setting the DS preferences for Offline use, ie. never logging in to DS again.

I'm not the original author but I have a few questions:

    1. Am I better off using DIM/DAZ Central and Manual 100% OR using a mix of those and DAZ Connect inside DS?

Mixing, especially an installer of some kind and manual, can cause issues.

    2. When you say to set preferences for Offline use...how do you do that? Where is the setting?

Edit>Preferences (DAZ Studio>Preferences on a Mac), go to the Startup tab, and uncheck Automatically Login With Remembered Credentials

    Thanks for the help!!!

  • Daz Central Install?

    Hi Everybody,
Im a long time Daz user, but I have to keep leaving it for a while as it becomes harder and harder to use, eventually making me abandon it again.
I suppose its constantly being updated, and Im not. LoL
I'd only just started using the Install Manager last time, and now Ive returned again theres Daz Central.
Is it possible to just download Daz Studio on its own, or do I now have to go through Daz Central?

Also, what is it with the random sales in the store nowadays?
On sale one day, then not the next, then back on after a couple of days. Its infuriating.
Being in the UK I cant keep track with the time difference and everything.
Anyway, thats a different rant.  ;)

So, is Daz Central the way to go now?  :)

    Thanks.  D

  • Can't Install on Mac?

I'm only really interested in trying Haxagon.
To my dismay, I had to download a host of other things: DazCentral (which freezes constantly), DazStudio, two "helper" apps with unknown purpose, just to never get prompted to finally get hexagon.
I go to apps in central, and there's no install button for hexagon. Web searches tell me to click the green install button (that's not there). Some posts suggest to do a manual install, but I don't see that anywhere either. Compatibility information is contradictory (and 5 years out of date anyway)
    This has been pretty fustrating.
I have a 2021 MacBook M1 Max: Is Hexagon compatable or not? If so, how do I install it?
Ok, I found more while typing this, but I've come this far, so I may as well finish the rant.
I found what looked like a Manual Install link but that turned out to be unclickable, instead I was apparently supposed to just know the real link was the cryptically labeled DIM text. Another app to download. Yay. I find Hexagon there, and the install fails just the once, but not before forgetting my prefered install location. Only to find out that it still will not open, apparently being out of date, and apparently not able to run under Rosetta.
One system requirements page is from 2017, another says Hexagon is unstable under Intel chipsets - but I'm guessing that's a typo (or even more out of date) and wasn't intended to mean apple silicon is prefered.
And because it doesn't seem to be explicitly stated anywhere - for anyone else finding this: Hexagon appears to not be compatable with M1

Before you reinstall anything, make sure the Daz Studio Content Directory Manager is looking in the right place for your content library. You might just need to add your library location to the Content Directory Manager and not reinstall anything.

  • Problems With Genesis 8 Body and Head Morph Products

    Hi.

    I have the following products:

    Genesis 8 Female Head Morphs

    Genesis 8 Male Head Morphs

    Genesis 8 Female Body Morphs

    Genesis 8 Male Body Morphs

I used DAZ Central to install them. But I was only able to use one of the products once. Since I've received the following message whenever I try to use Central to find one:

"Cound not find the '42075' product."

And all my efforts to find the products in my "Smart Content" folder have turned up nothing.

I've reinstalled everything to no avail.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Looking forward to some wise counsel and using the products.

    Thanks in advance
