That looks like nice hair. It is clipping her right shoulder (image left side). Do the morphs work to adjust that?

Same here. And for $39.17 I won't buy.
- Don't find todays incentives appealing at all.
- Hate that the spotlight release discount won't apply to DAZ originals.
- Don't understand why bundle discounts cannot be combined with discounts for already owning some of the bundles content. I mean we have such sales every now and then but why is that saving not built in by default. What good is a dedicated discount on a bundle if a already own much of the stuff and that is not taken into account. So once there is no banner or other incentive coming along I might wait a little and rather get figure + alternate shapes for $15.
I've been spending a lot on some of these $2.09 or less deals the past few days and have a cart put together that I might buy if a banner or other discount pops up.
- The incentives are decent for me. Had a few G8 Pros left in the wishlist that I had bought 0-2 items out of over the years that are in the cart for slightly over $10. Again not bad but that little extra would get me to pull the trigger. Don't really use Kids in my projects so those incentives are luke warm. Mild interest in the G9 bundles I don't have or own the core figure of them from other bundles (ie Victoria's and Michael's many bundle). I know Kala is still New but I missed her debut sale and would have probably pulled the trigger on Olivia if her Pro was included. Or Genghis Khan, Xiu Lin, or Julia bundles.
- Agreed if the spotlight discount applied taking Olivia9 from $39.17 to $31.34 would make it more appealing. I haven't paid too much attention but it seems random that sometimes its works for Daz Originals and others it doesn't. I got Olympia at a great price ($20.74) and there were a lot of different discounts to get her bundle to great price but I thought spolight 20% off applied to her deal.
- I've long said this (at least to myself) that pay for what you don't own should be the default of the Daz store. I would actually purchase more consistently from the store instead of going all in for deeper discounts. If an item or two in a bundle goes for a great price (like 65-70% off) I would be more willing to snag it now if I knew that its value would be accounted for if I later bought the bundle. I'd also be more willing to finish off bundles of items I like but don't have any immediate or near future plans for using if it was pay for what you don't own. Since this isn't how it operates I tend to wait for what I feel are better discounts (80%+ off or incentives) to buy these bundles.
I usually won't buy items that are included in bundles for this reason. Often there are really good deals on a single item from a bundle, but if I like other stuff in the bundle, then I will skip buying the item as I may have a chance to buy the bundle for 90% off at a later point. I don't want to rebuy an item I already bought, and if I do, then that means the bundle has to be REALLY discounted like 95% off or more. And sometimes the bundles will hit that price later on, so if I already waited on most of the bundle to be discounted to 95% off then why did I buy the item or 2 from the bundle in the first place as I could have gotten all of them for that really high discounted price? That then leads me to wait for even deeper discounts on items that are included in bundles or bundles themselves. I only have so much money to go around, I could spend it all quickly to get a couple things I want right a way, or I wait to get a ton of stuff that I want after it has been out for a decent chunk of time. I think knowing that when I buy something I like out of a bundle would always reduce the price later on by a % based on the items cost in comparison to everything else, would cause me to be more likely to pull the trigger on a few things early on, and then pick up everything else later on. As it is now, when they do the specific sales for only pay for what you don't own, the discounts are usually much lamer then if you just wait for a sale that discounts the WHOLE bundle. lol
Pre- Genesis 9I like every generation of Daz figures. Everything from the V4/M4 era and newer is a great figure, in my opinion, and I have had great results no matter which I choose. I just use what I like for the particular scene. If it's Victoria 4 in one scene, and Michael 7 in another, or both in the same scene, who cares? I like them all.

Pre- Genesis 9It is interesting to me when people proclaim that they are NOT going to use the currently newest model for whatever reason. I've been watching this happen with each and every new generation since Victoria and Michael 4. I must be an outlier then, because I am always eager to see what the new generation offers and do what I can with it as soon as I can. Having Genesis 9 in my library doesn't preclude me from using Genesis 8, or 3, or 2, or even Victoria 4 if I feel like it - and sometimes I DO feel like it and do so with no need to disparage any other generation. I'm NOT criticising or complaining, just observing. :)
Maybe I am just an Old Fart on The Block (not related to The New Kids on The Block musical group), but it is amusing to me to read all these heartfelt declarations. I just sit here on my porch, rocking in my rocker, grinning, waiting for the next kid that needs to be told to "Git off'n muh lawn!", watching the world spin on by.Pre- Genesis 9outrider42 said:
G8 is still going strong almost everywhere else besides the official Daz store. So you don't have to search very hard. A quick glance at the "what's new" page at Rendo is dominated by G8 releases. In fact I think I only saw ONE item for G9 on the whole page, that's it. Everything else is Genesis 8. And not even 8.1, no it is all Genesis 8.0.
Some PAs even appear to have dropped Genesis 9 in favor of 8, which I think is a very bad tell on the true state of Genesis 9. I honestly have to say that G9 feels forced at this point. Of course Daz is going to make everything for G9. But the 3rd parties don't have to abide by that. Some PAs like G9 because it has a few more polys than 8 and unisex. For me personally I just don't see a reason to go to 9. 9 just doesn't offer a compelling enough reason to jump when there is no compatibility. Even Genesis 8 reuses a lot of Genesis 3 UVs. I made fun of G8 calling it G3.5, but at least there was that compatibility between them with the minor improvements. Most of the improvements on G9 are basically textures. And there is still significant debate over G9's bending, which may or may not be any improvement. If it doesn't pose better, what is the point? If you convert G9 textures to G8, you can get the same results. A lot of people don't realize this. They just see Victoria 9 and think she's pretty.
If I am going to jump to a new generation, I expect either one of two things: Either the new generation offers a lot of compatibility like G8 did, or the new generation is vastly superior in every possible way. But G9 doesn't do either of these. Genesis 9 breaks all compatibility, and yet doesn't offer any true generational improvements for this effort. I was pretty hyped for G9, too. I was totally on board with the concept and unisex. I even told people afraid their PCs couldn't handle an 8k texture to chill (and they still need to chill). Victoria 9 looked nice, but my hype quickly tanked when I used G9 for a little bit. I just don't see any genuine improvements.
Victoria 9 is nice, but it should be clear at this point that this is due to the artist who created her, rather than anything Genesis 9 does. We cannot pretend that artistic quality is a Genesis 9 exclusive trait, if you take the material textures away what does G9 really do?
As more people come to realize this, I think that keeps them from moving on. I'm only buying environments and props now from this store if I buy anything at all.
Looks can be deceiving.
Firstly, rendo isnt indicative of the market. If they were, victoria 4 would be the best, most popular, widespread figure being released right now lol
Secondly, what ur seeing is residual genesis 8 stuff. I myself, had three outfits id started on g8 and ended up converting to g9 (so they have/will have both vs') After theyre done, ill be strictly g9. Its too much work for me to keep that up forever. A lot of PA's have had the same thing happening, or its an item that is easy to support both on (when and where it makes sense to do that)
Sure, there will be vendors that stubbornly stick with g8... for whatever reasons... until they see their sales slowing to a trickle and how much better g9 would do. PAs support what makes the most money. I mean... how often do you guys see genesis 3 being supported these days?
Ive been doing this 20 yrs. The market will slowly drift to g9, mark my words.

The 'Ariana Day Out' Bundle is interesting for D+ members. $ 5.99 plus a Spotlight item is nice. I bought the bundle mainly because of the SUV and the hair. Ariana is ok as a kinda unlikable character, although she looks somewhat similar to the other kinda unlikable character in my collection, Victoria 9. I'll convert the little dress into a fantasy outfit with some shaders and add leggings and boots. The shoes - well, not my cup of tea.
@carvelle, I bought the bundle afterall and finished a render of Ariana in the dress, which has a welcomed skirt length morph and others. The high heels, well, the character would have to be standing on her toes to wear them. I used some sandals for my render. I generally don't do open mouth smiles (teeth baring = threat in my mind) but I did one from a pose set with expressions and it turned out okay. I would post but... forums being cranky. I am not sure about her teeth, I have seen folks refer to some teeth as chicklets and that might describe hers. Again, I rarely expose them, although there was no issue with smile sliders or other expressions. I did not try either of the two makeup options. I wish this PA would take a little more time with the promos, as it may cost them sales. I have avoided them in the past for this issue.

Thanks so much for your descriptions, I'm still on the fence about the bundle. Would you say you like the character overall? Because fhe promos really don't say much ...
Sorry about the delay, I fell down a rabbit hole of 'haplogroups' and ancient migration patterns yesterday and again this morning.
As far as Ariana goes, she is okay. Does she shout to me she is a star? No, and a star is too noticable to everyone, you need a character actress that can become who you need. Other than that one render, I didn't play with her anymore. (That rabbit hole had me firmly in its grips.) But, she posed nicely, her sliders for expressions worked well. I have had some characters where their faces never moved a muscle and frustrated me no end. I think I would need to use her more often in other ways to get a better feel for her. I think any number of people here on the forums could do a lot with her based on what I have seen them post in the past.
As far as the SUV goes, yeah XI has an unfortunate habit of using large texture sets, though they have gotten better at adding lower level ones in recent packages. Suggest the MMX sets to reduce size or the one of the other products that reduces stress on your computers? (My old iMac needs to be rebooted right now and I can't think of the name off my 71-year-old head.) I haven't tried it on neither my MacBookPro M1 nor my Win 10 1080 or 1080Ti computers, so I don't know if it crash them. I have been able to render the XI Christmas New York scene without issue thought.

Yeah, it's a really nice price, but this bundle is just "meh" to me. I agree that the character doesn't feel likeable or with much personality, and having 4 exactly the same promo shots doesn't convince me and probably doesn't do her justice. From the rest of it, the hair is the only thing I can see myself using, so even at that admittedly great price, I'm likely going to pass.

Hair in HID promoI've previously asked what some of the hairstyles in the promo for HID Emmy are, and so far I've identified Soft Curls Hair for G9 in the 2nd & 6th pics.
I'm still trying to find out the others, can anyone clear things up?
Face Transfer on Genesis 9Well that's the thing, Face Transfer morphs are practically useless without purchasing the add on morph pack, because of how flat the faces are coming out of it. There is not a morph product for Facegen like that. On that basis alone, FT is not actually doing anything better than FG. When using the morph fixers, it is relying on the work of PhilW more than the Face Transfer morph itself. If any PA created a morph pack aimed at Facegen, that could change everything. But I think there are plenty of morphs out there than can do this already. Rarestone's Miya character comes with a variety of really good face morphs for cheek bones, with 2 or 3 different morphs that can slim the cheek bone down quite nicely. Rarestone also made great 200 face morph packs for G8 male and female, which have all sorts of nose morphs.
Don't forget you can morph a face inside Facegen itself, too, and try to tackle the cheeks that way. Though I wish FG had an "undo" button. You have to really pay attention to what the number on the dial is before you hit the dial.
Another trick can also be placing the auto dots on the cheeks further inward. Where you place dots can have a big effect on the result. The new versions place dots automatically, but you can fine tune them.
At any rate, I don't often use 100% of the morph FG creates, though I did for my example pics in the last few posts. You can also whip out the smoothing tool on the cheek bones in Hexagon or Blender.
The thing that Facegen does best is texture. It is unmatched in that area now. A couple years ago it could be argued for one software or another being better in specific cases, but now Facegen has a clear lead on creating the texture. I have noticed the FG does a lot better with fringe hair and other things, on top of blending in so well with the textures you pick. Face Transfer does not give the user any choice in texture, you only get the base texture for G8M or G8F and that's it. Facegen can use literally any texture you want, even it it makes no sense.
I even tried a set of pure white texture boxes that were 4K in size to see what would happen. It colored them all to match the head texture as best it could, though this doesn't work so well with a photo. However, this could work with a toon style character! It is a wild possibility, and that is something that only Facegen can do currently. This freedom lets you use any texture set you want, so if you like a certain character's texture set, you can totally use that. Of course you cannot distribute a character model made from commercial set (unless it is a merchant resource), but the option is there for users to render them as they wish. So you could use skin builder textures with Facegen. Or you can do like I did above and use Victoria 8.1. The choice is yours.
